This 70-hectare tea plantation stretches like a green carpet across Yame's fertile land. Tea was first planted here around 1410, and the area has since become known for producing premium tea with rich color, taste, and aroma.
Yame Traditional Craft Museum was built to preserve local craftsmanship and support regional industries. It showcases crafts like Kurume Kasuri and offers local specialties at the adjoining Tokimeki gift shop.

Craft a custom-engraved knife at Seiko Blacksmith Workshop—a rare experience for a knife with years-long wait time. Made with top-grade steel and stainless layers, it stays sharp and lasts for decades.
Nomura Textile Mill, founded in 1898, offers a Kurume Kasuri workshop where you can make a traditional Azuma bag and shop original Kasuri clothing.
Urushi Studio Iwaya creates accessories using lacquer from Yame Fukushima Buddhist altars, a traditional Japanese craft. Guests can make their own under the guidance of skilled artisans.
Bon-chōchin lanterns, used during Obon to honor ancestors, are the main type made in Yame. Skilled artisans paint directly onto the paper without any sketch, using only a brush.
