Takachiho Gorge, Takachiho Shrine, and Amano Iwato Shrine had beautiful scenery, and I'm glad I went. The food was also very delicious. I was a bit worried since the main language was Chinese on the site, but the guide was very impressive and it was fun. I thought it would be nice to have a tour where you can ride a boat.
高千穂峡、高千穂神社、天岩戸神社、とっても景色が良く、行って良かったです。

The weather was nice, and the mystique of Kamishikimi Kumanoza Shrine, Amano Iwato Shrine, and Amano Kawara was very strong. While traveling by bus, the view of Mount Aso was dynamic and beautiful, conveying the mysteries of nature on a global scale. Takachiho Gorge was also breathtaking, and I was overwhelmed by the astonishingly large number of columnar joints I witnessed. The participants were multinational, including people from the U.S., China, Taiwan, Korea, and Singapore, and as a Japanese person, I was in the minority (probably the only one), but everyone was well-mannered, making for a pleasant trip. The guide was Chinese and had no issues with Japanese or English, effectively communicating the features of the tourist spots in Japanese, which helped me understand them well. The bus driver was also a pleasant person. It was a long day from 8:00 to 18:30, but it was truly an interesting day that flew by.

Thank you for the wonderful guidance in three languages from the tour guide. We applied for the tour without realizing it was for foreigners, and later noticed that the guidance was in Chinese. Before participating, I was nervous about what the tour would be like, but the staff were kind and warm-hearted, which put me at ease. I was able to spend the day feeling like I was traveling abroad while still in Japan, and it was very enjoyable. I would like to participate again.

Traveling from Hakata to Takachiho using public transportation can be time-consuming and costly, but this bus tour is appealing because it departs from in front of Hakata Station in the morning and returns in the evening. For just a little over 10,000 yen, lunch is included, and you can visit the main attractions. This is a day trip bus tour departing from Hakata Station. The bus ride takes about two hours each way. However, even with the travel time, the mystical scenery and solemn shrines are worth seeing. There seem to be several locations that are said to be "the place of the Amano Iwato," and Amano Iwato Shrine is one of them. It is said that members of the imperial family also visit, so I was grateful to pay my respects there.

This was primarily a bus tour in Chinese. Aside from us and another group of Japanese tourists, most of the participants were from Chinese-speaking regions, but it was not a problem. Our guide, Mr. Zhang, provided explanations in Japanese very politely.
One particularly impressive site was the Kamishikimi Kumanoza Shrine, which is said to have a landscape like an "entrance to another world." After passing through the shrine and climbing further up the slope, we enjoyed a solemn view at a wind hole.
When I visited before, I had to give up on Aso Nakadake because it was off-limits, but this time we were able to visit it somehow. It was lucky that we boarded the bus just before it was closed due to volcanic gas.

The weather was great, making it the perfect day. Our tour guide, Mr. Chou, was a wonderful guide who was very attentive. I've visited Kumamoto Castle and Mount Aso several times, and while they are easily accessible by car, I decided to join the tour for a more relaxed experience. It was my first time visiting the shrine, and it was a lovely place. Mr. Chou also shared the history of Kumamoto Castle, as well as highlights and local specialties from other sites. I think it would have been a waste of time for individuals to try to see everything on their own. We were fortunate with the weather and were able to tour efficiently. I expected it, but Saturday was very crowded. About 70% of the tour guests were from China, and the places we visited felt similar. It felt almost like traveling in China. The guide explained in Chinese, Japanese, and English. I couldn't understand the Chinese, but I consider that part of the fun of the tour.
When we took the Beppu Ropeway to the summit, there was still a lot of snow remaining. I might not have been able to go there on my own. The two guides were cheerful, and we had a very enjoyable time. I hope to meet them again somewhere next time, and I would love to participate again. Thank you very much.

Overall, the time spent at each sightseeing spot was often too long. The winter tour truly felt like a "cold endurance tour," and I was the first to return to the bus.
At Dazaifu Tenmangu, I entered the museum to escape the cold. Despite being famous, Yufuin had few things to see, so I took my time enjoying a meal to pass the time. It was snowing at the top of the ropeway, so I wished I had worn winter boots. Finally, I was able to warm up by soaking my feet in the foot bath at Kamado Jigoku.
I was disillusioned by the warm image of Kyushu, and strengthening my cold weather preparations was a point of reflection.
全体的に各観光地での見学時間が長すぎる事が多かったです。真冬の観光で本当に「寒さに耐えるツアー」となり、真っ先にバスに戻ってしまいました。

I have long wanted to visit Takachiho someday. Since it was a difficult place to visit on my own, I decided to use this tour. I chose this tour for my solo trip to Hakata. I was a bit anxious when I later found out that this tour was aimed at foreigners. However, when I mentioned at the meeting point that I only understood Japanese, they assured me it would be fine. The female guide, Lee, was very kind and attentive to me, the only Japanese participant, while explaining in Korean and Chinese. We were the only Japanese couple among the guests, participating from Hokkaido. Traveling from Hakata to Miyazaki can be challenging using public transportation, so I was able to efficiently visit various locations by taking the bus. However, there were many Chinese tourists, and most of the explanations on the bus were in Chinese. I would have appreciated more detailed explanations in Japanese.

Visiting Dazaifu. My first stroll around Yufuin. I thought Yufuin would have a more rundown feel, but the prices were high and it was too lively, which was disappointing. The Beppu ropeway offered a great view of Beppu. The hell tour allowed us to eat onsen tamago and drink ramune. The foot bath was also pleasantly hot. It was a good day with both sightseeing and experiences.

I participated in a tour for autumn foliage viewing at Takachiho Gorge around late November. It was disappointing that the autumn colors were late in 2024, so I couldn't see much, but I thought it was great to visit beautiful places like Takachiho Gorge and Amano Iwato. Climbing the long stairs to see the stunning view from the top of Kamishikimi Kumanoza Shrine was also worth it. Thank you for the souvenirs.
About 80-90% of the participants were foreigners. The guide was kind and provided very detailed explanations, even explaining Japanese culture to the overseas guests. When the explanations were given in Chinese, then English, and finally Japanese, I had no particular issues since I am trilingual, but I noticed that the Westerners next to me seemed a bit confused at first. I thought it might be better to explain the order of the languages used from the beginning.
11月中〜末頃に高千穂峡の紅葉狩りでツアーに参加しました。2024年の紅葉が遅かったのであまり見れなくて残念だったのですが、高千穂峡も天安河原も綺麗な場所で参加してよかったと思います。そして上色見熊野座神社の頂点の絶景を見るために長い階段を登る甲斐もありました。お土産までいただいてありがとうございました。
参加者は8〜9割外国人でした。ガイドさんは親切で解説はとても丁寧で、日本の文化までちゃんと海外の方に説明してくれました。中国語→英語→日本語の順で解説していただいた時、私はトリリンガルなので特に問題がなかったのですが、隣に欧米の方は最初は少し戸惑ってるようでしたので、最初から使う言語の順番を説明した方が良いかなと思ってました。
