I wanted to see the autumn leaves, but my 82-year-old mother has difficulty walking. I thought we could enjoy it without walking if we took a boat, so we participated together. My mother was worried, saying, "I can't swim," but the boatman reassured her, saying, "You definitely won't sink, so it's okay." We enjoyed the autumn leaves from the river, felt the terrain from the front to the back of the mountain, and had a great time laughing at the boatman's guidance and stories. We bought grilled squid and dango from the shop on the boat. Eating on the boat was exceptionally delicious! The two hours flew by. In mid-November, I made a reservation due to it being the best season for autumn leaves. The Hozu River boat ride offered beautiful scenery, and the boatmen's stories were entertaining. Although we got splashed with water, it was thrilling, and I felt it was worth the ride. However, despite making a reservation, we had to wait for an hour due to the crowds. In the end, whether you have a reservation or not, you end up waiting the same amount of time upon arrival. I would appreciate it if adjustments could be made so that those who reserved in advance can depart within 15 minutes of their scheduled time.

For those who can schedule after the Hozu River boat ride, I recommend making reservations with ample time during this season.

保津川下りのあと、予定を入れられるかたは、この時期だけは余裕のある時間で予約を入れることをおすすめします。

After a 10-minute ride on the JR train from Saga-Arashiyama Station, I arrived at Kameoka Station. It took about 5 to 6 minutes on foot to reach the boarding area while seeing Kyocera Stadium on my right.

After completing the check-in, I was guided to the boat in less than 10 minutes of waiting, and the adventure of the Hozu River boat ride began. The skilled navigation and chatter of the three boatmen entertained all the passengers on board.

The colorful autumn leaves were vibrant, and everyone was taking lots of photos. The excitement of getting splashed with water while going down the rapids was also fun, making it a memorable 1 hour and 50-minute boat journey.

Thank you to the boatmen from that time!

嵯峨嵐山駅からJRで10分亀岡駅に到着。京セラスタジアムを右手に見ながら徒歩5,6分で乗場です。
受付を済ませ、待つこと10分足らずで舟に案内され、いよいよ保津川下りの始まりです。3人の船頭さんの巧みな操船とお喋りが満員の乗船客を楽しませてくれます。
色付いた紅葉は目にも鮮やかで、皆さん写真を撮りまくっていました。
急流を下る時には全身水を被るハプニングも楽しく、一生心に残る1時間50分の船旅でした。

When it comes to bus tours, the bus usually stops at a parking lot near the sightseeing location, allowing you to leave your heavy luggage on the bus and explore in a light outfit. However, we had to walk for 10 minutes to get back to the parking lot after the tour. My shoulders were sore from carrying my luggage.
There was no alcohol disinfectant when boarding the bus. What about ventilation?
It didn't seem like a proper response during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The tour guide who joined us later was kind and helpful, but overall, I have participated in several bus tours, and this was the worst one yet. I will not participate in any tours from this company again.

I joined thinking it would just be a relaxing boat ride while enjoying the scenery, and I was looking forward to eating oden at the end! However, there were three boatmen who provided explanations and stories throughout the trip✨ Since I was at the very front, I was able to engage in conversation and had an amazing time‼️ More than anything, the explanations were great, but the jokes and banter made it incredibly entertaining. It rained, but I think that added a unique touch to the experience, making it a memorable one in a different way‼️ I will definitely go again.

I have experienced rafting and various river descents, but this time the water level on the Hozu River was the lowest of the year, allowing for a leisurely boat trip to Togetsukyo Bridge.

It seems the water level was a bit low, so we were on the boat for about an hour and 45 minutes. However, we did get splashed a little. When the boatman signals, everyone on the left and right should definitely lift their seats. I get seasick on the ocean, but not on the river. (^.^) Next time, I would like to visit during the peak season for the autumn leaves.

I didn't feel cold because I was wearing a down coat.
I prepared a waterproof case to take photos, but it wasn't dangerous enough to risk submersion.

I was recommended by a friend to definitely experience the Hozu River Boat Ride if I came to Kyoto during this season, so I made a reservation. My reservation was for 11:00, but when I arrived at the boarding area at 9:45, I received number 42 and was called right away, so I was on the boat by 10:00! I think there were more than 20 people on each boat. The boatman kept us entertained with humorous stories throughout the approximately two-hour ride, and we were laughing the whole time. It was the beginning of the autumn leaves, and the contrast of the green and yellow leaves below with the red leaves above was very beautiful. One highlight was when the boatman walked along the edge of the boat to switch places, and it was just perfect timing when the vendor boat came alongside selling beer and sweet sake. Moreover, I was sitting towards the back, and I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to hear the boatman’s stories, but the boatman at the back also provided explanations, which made me very happy. 友人からこの時期に京都に来るなら絶対に保津川下りを体験して！と勧められて予約しました。11時の予約でしたが9時45分に乗船場に着いたら、42番と言う番号を貰ってすぐに呼んでいただいて10時に船に乗っていた！と思います。一艘に20人以上は乗っていたと思います。船頭さんはおよそ２時間の川下りの間、お客様を飽きさせないように漫談のようなお喋りをして下さってずっと笑いっぱなしでした。紅葉の初めだったのですが、もみじの下が緑、黄色、上だけ紅に紅葉しているコントラストがとても綺麗でした。途中で船頭さんが船のヘリを歩いて交替するのも見どころですし、売店船が並走してビールや甘酒を売ってくれるのも丁度頃合いが良かったです。そして、何よりも私は後ろの方の座席だったのですが、お喋りする船頭さんのお話しが聞き取りにくいんじゃないかと心配していたら、後ろの船頭さんも説明をしてくださってとても嬉しかったです。下船の際には中高年の私の手を取って下ろして下さって、「至れり尽くせり！」とはこの事だわ〜‍♀️と関心しました。観光客をスムーズに案内し、喜ばせ、感動させ、満足させてくれる保津川下りでした。有難うございました。

I was able to visit famous tourist spots in just one day. However, for someone coming from Tokyo like me, finding the meeting place was quite a struggle. Kyoto Station is huge and the crowds are overwhelming.

First of all, the tour guide's voice was too quiet, and there was no sense of organization. We used trains and buses, but I thought we would be disbanding at Kyoto Station after arriving by bus, but instead, we disbanded at Arashiyama.

As someone who came to Arashiyama for the first time, I felt left behind. Other tourists were walking towards the station, so I followed them, and it took over 20 minutes to get to Kyoto Station. But if I had been alone, I might have had a harder time. Overall, it was good. Kyoto was wonderful.

I go down the Hozu River every year, and it's still so much fun! This time, the water level was high, so we arrived at Arashiyama quickly. While getting lightly splashed and listening to the boatman's interesting stories, we arrived in no time! After the Hozu River ride, we enjoyed some food walking around Arashiyama. ♬

I was lucky to be able to make a reservation through Veltra for an early autumn leaf viewing on the Hozu River, as there were no direct reservations available. If I had gone directly, I would have had to wait 1 hour and 50 minutes on a weekday. I arrived earlier than my reserved time, but the check-in process was smooth, and after using the restroom, I was guided right away to depart.

The boatman was youthful and shared enjoyable stories, making the experience even more delightful as we admired the mountains and various rock formations. It was a peaceful experience where I could really feel the nature around me. I would love to go on the boat again.

少し早い紅葉狩りに保津川下り直接の予約はなく、ベルトラさんで予約可能だったのでラッキーでした。
直接だと平日でしたが1時間50分待ちの案内が出てました。予約時間よりも早く着いたのですが受付もスムーズでトイレだけ済ませたらすぐに案内され出発できました。
遠い記憶で乗船した時よりも、船頭さんも若々しく楽しいお話し案内してくださり、山々やいろんな岩の形状を楽しく観賞出来来ました。
穏やかで自然をたくさん感じられました。
また、乗船したいと思います。

This was my second experience, but this time I was able to enjoy the scenery and sounds at a leisurely pace. I felt like I wanted to visit again to see the different seasons and their unique charm.

First of all, they provided a thorough safety briefing! The staff members boarded the boat in groups, making the preparations very smooth! When it was time to enter the sea, the staff supported us both on the boat and in the water. The whale sharks swim around multiple times, so you can observe them closely! I traveled to Kyoto alone. The places I wanted to visit were included in the plan, so I took advantage of it. The time allocation was good, and I was able to enjoy sightseeing without feeling rushed. During the free time, Shu, the tour guide, went ahead to the scenic spots, found participants, and offered to take photos. He also shared interesting stories about spots that are easy to overlook, making the trip very meaningful. I had a restaurant I wanted to visit at Kiyomizu-dera, so I chose the plan without lunch, but it was so crowded that I gave up. I filled my stomach with street food, which was enjoyable in its own way. Since it was a Saturday, the bus was full, making it a popular plan. I recommend making an early reservation.

女1人旅で京都へ。回ろうと思っていた場所がプランに盛り込まれていたので利用させて頂きました。時間配分も良く、時間を持て余さず観光できました。自由行動中もツアーを担当されたシュウさんが絶景スポットに先回りし、参加者を見つけると声をかけ写真を撮ってくださいました。また、見落としがちなスポットや場所にちなんだ小話なんかも教えてくださりとても有意義な旅となりました。清水寺では行きたい食事処があったので昼食事なしプランにしましたが激混みで断念。食べ歩きで腹を満たしましたがそれはそれで楽しめました。土曜だったというのもありますがバスは満席で人気のプランです。早めのご予約をお薦めします。

Eight years ago, I had a wonderful experience on the Hozu River boat ride, so I decided to include it in this day trip. I remembered it being very cold around this time last time, so I dressed warmly, but the weather was clear and the river was calm, making it quite pleasant—almost hot, in fact! Three boatmen took turns rowing while sharing interesting stories and performances, keeping us entertained for two hours without getting bored. At this time of year, there were just a few hints of autumn leaves, and the clarity of the water along with the greenery and blue sky was incredibly refreshing. I thought I would love to come back during the autumn foliage season or cherry blossom season as well.

8年前に保津川下りした際にとても楽しかった記憶で、今回日帰り弾丸ツアーに組み込んでみました。前回も今ぐらいの時期でとても寒かった記憶なので防寒していきましたが、天気も快晴で、川の流れも穏やかで、とても心地よく、むしろ暑いぐらいでした！3人の船頭さんが交代で立ち位置変えて漕いでくれるのですが、各々に面白い喋りやパフォーマンスを交えてくれ、二時間飽きずに楽しめます。この時期はまだ紅葉がほんの少しだけ彩っている感じで、水の透明度と緑と青空が最高にリフレッシュ出来ましたが、紅葉の時期も桜の時期もまた来たいなと思いました。
