I rented a kimono for a stroll in Kyoto with my daughter. Since our plans were made last minute, I booked with another company, but it turned out to be a reservation request and I couldn't secure a booking. However, I was able to make a reservation here right away.

We went without any belongings and chose a kimono, receiving advice on an obi that matched, and then proceeded with the dressing. I was told it would have been better to wear an undergarment (like a tank top?). I wish this had been mentioned somewhere. I also requested a hair set as an option, and they did a beautiful job. However, hair ornaments like kanzashi were also an additional option, and since my daughter had brought a few, we didn't need to borrow any, but I wonder if this was noted somewhere? I didn't notice it.

I thought the bag would be a small pouch, but it was actually a good size and very practical. Before heading out, they asked if I wanted to purchase insurance, explaining that most people do because there’s a chance of getting it dirty during meals, so I opted for it. I liked the kimono pattern, and the dressing was done skillfully without any mishaps, and the hair arrangement was nice too. Overall, I was satisfied, but there were some additional charges later on... I think it would have been nice to have a more detailed explanation on the website.

娘と京都散策をするのに、着物のレンタルをしました。予定が直前になってしまい、他の会社で予約したのですが予約リクエストだったようで、予約が取れなかったのですが、こちらはすぐに予約できました。
手ぶらで行って着物を決め、着物に合う帯のアドバイスをもらいながら決め、その後は着付け。下着は1枚着ていた方が良かったとのこと。(タンクトップ的なもの？)どこかに書いてあれば良かったと思いました。オプションでヘアセットもお願いしたところ、とてもキレイにして下さいました。ただ、かんざし等も別のオプションで、娘がいくつか持って行っていたので借りずにすんだのですが、どこかに記載してあったのでしょうか？私は気が付きませんでした。バッグは小さな巾着かと思っていましたが、しっかり入る大きさの物があり、使いやすかったです。それから、出かける前に保険に加入するか聞かれ、これも食事等をした時に汚す場合があるからほとんどの人は加入すると言われ、加入しました。着物の柄も気に入り、着付けも着崩れすることもなく上手にして下さり、ヘアアレンジも良かったので、全体的に満足していますが、結局あとから追加した料金もあり・・HP上でもう少し丁寧な説明があっても良かったのかなぁとは思います。

The staffs are really nice and sweet, they take their time instead of rushing you. The photographer speaks perfectly english and don't worry if you don't know how to pose he will instruct you on that. So don't avoid this must do in Kyoto if you are camera shy. You might get to see a different side of yourself.
We both are so glad we have made this happened despite the fact the schedule got us going back and ford Osaka and Kyoto for two days lol. Love Kyoto love Osaka, way more fun than the city.

Oh and i suggest before you go just have the makeup bag (of your own ready) they basically can do all since what they do all day they know what looks best on you. Maybe think of the combination color of the kimona. Oh be sure to wear the wig they provide, they look better as in photoshoot.

The review title says it all really! The booking process was quite easy and I was able to reserve a spot for 2 people online with no trouble at all. The venue was very easy to find via Google maps and the provided directions as well.

Studio Esperanto itself was lovely; we had amazing and friendly English-speaking staff looking after us, and we felt very pampered and luxurious having our hair and makeup done. the choice of kimono was extensive and they were all absolutely beautiful, and the sets were absolutely stunning as well! Our photographer was incredibly professional and looked after us very well throughout the entire shoot; it also did not take very long at all for our photos to be processed and completed.

all in all, we had a fantastic time and took away some fantastic memories and gorgeous pictures. Thank you so much Studio Esparanto!

It was a very fun, elegant and memorable experience. The staff was very friendly, professional and fun. With this booking you end up selecting 5 pictures for you to take home with you printed out in a booklet. For an additional fee, we ended up buying the CD for all of our photos that we took in the photo shoot as well. The location has other themes as well, and we will definitely want to come back to shoot those as well, as shown in one of the pictures.

This is what I was most excited for of our 3-week trip through Japan, and it did not disappoint!!! Staff were wonderful and extraordinarily talented. They made me look the most beautiful I ever have in my life. My husband and I did a couples photoshoot and we both agree that these are better than our wedding photos! The pictures are breathtaking; I couldn't imagine how beautifully they would've turned out. We'll be sure to return to Esperanto Kokoro when we visit Japan in the future.

I highly recommened this Oiran photo experience. Many people hire kimonos in the local area for photos but honestly they have nothing on this! The ladies did wonderful job with makeup and hair and photographer talked me throught the poses and process , I felt extremely comfortable and also pampered. It is hard to think the one on the pictures is me. I wanted to stroll around Gion in a kimono, so I decided to rent one from this shop that was on sale through VELTRA. It was within walking distance from my hotel, Hotel Monterey Kyoto, and in addition to the kimono fitting, I also had my hair styled (for an extra 1,500 yen). To enjoy my time without rushing, I opted for a next-day return (for an extra 1,000 yen). There were many types of kimonos available, and all the staff were very efficient, which made me very satisfied.

着物を着て祇園を散策したかったので、VELTRAでバーゲンになっていたこちらのお店で着物レンタルすることにしました。宿泊先のホテルモントレ京都からは徒歩圏内であり、着付けに加えてヘアアレンジもしてもらい（＋1500円）、ゆっくり過ごせるように翌日返却（＋1000円）にしました。

This time, I came to Kyoto for sightseeing with my dad and my second daughter. After taking a commemorative photo at the iconic torii gate at Fushimi Inari Taisha in the morning, we went for a stroll in kimono, which was another highlight of our trip. After my daughter helped me get dressed in the kimono, we quickly took the train and headed mainly to explore Arashiyama. Although there was a bit of light rain in the morning, it cleared up in the afternoon, allowing us to have a wonderful time.

I had my Oiran makeover session this morning. I was excited but nervous because I am plus size and was afraid that nothing would fit me. I really wanted to do this so I went and I am so glad I did. The staff was very sweet and respectful and made proper adjustments to the outfit to make sure I looked great. They did a great job on my hair , which was in braids and makeup. The photographer helped me pose and made me feel so comfortable. I would highly recommend Esperanto Studio and will cherish my photos.

I am a man, and I took a Chinese woman from my company and rented only for women. It was helpful that the male staff member could speak Chinese. I don't know much about kimono dressing, but I think the variety of kimonos is abundant and worth the price. There were also several male rental customers, and many young women, making it lively. If I were to point out a downside, I think it would be good to have the options displayed in the store. If there are kimonos outside the set selection range that one likes, it might be nice to know how much extra it would cost to rent them... I think it would be beneficial to have that information available. Lastly, thank you very much for this experience!

I made a reservation about a week ago to wear a kimono for cherry blossom viewing. On the day of the reservation, Kyoto Station was very crowded, and I was worried I might be late, so I called to inform them, and they responded very kindly. When I finally arrived at the shop, surprisingly, there were not many people, and I was able to choose my kimono freely. It was very good. However, I felt a bit anxious at first because there wasn't much explanation, but they quickly helped me get dressed, and I thought the price was a great deal considering it included a cute obi, a drawstring bag, disposable tabi socks, and geta. The hair set was an additional charge as mentioned on the website, so I did it myself. I thought I had read that the return time was 18:00, but I was told to come back for my belongings at 17:30. However, walking around in a kimono for half a day was harder than I expected, so I think the return time was just right. Thanks to the kimono, I enjoyed the cherry blossoms several times more than usual. I would like to use this service again if I have the opportunity.

Since I was going to Kyoto to see the autumn leaves, I wanted to wear a kimono! So, I participated in this experience. When I entered the shop, there were many kimonos lined up, and I could choose one that I liked. In the end, I asked the staff to help me decide which one suited me best (laughs). After selecting the kimono, I chose an obi and had it put on, followed by a hair arrangement. Both the dressing and the hair styling were done very skillfully, and I ended up with a cute hairstyle that I usually couldn't do myself. Kyō Aruki is relatively close to Yasaka Shrine, Kodaiji Temple, and Kiyomizu Temple, and I enjoyed a leisurely walk through the Shijo area. At Kiyomizu Temple, I enjoyed Kyoto's unique gourmet offerings like matcha ice cream, yuba, and yatsuhashi. Since it was the autumn leaves season, there were a lot of people, but the foliage was truly beautiful. Kiyomizu Temple has many slopes, so walking in a kimono was a bit tiring. It was my first time sightseeing in Kyoto while wearing a kimono, but I really enjoyed it, and it felt different from my usual Kyoto experiences, allowing me to appreciate autumn in Kyoto. I would like to do kimono sightseeing in Kyoto again next year (^ - ^).

せっかく京都に紅葉を見に行くなら着物が着たい！ということで参加させていただきました。お店に入るとたくさんの着物がズラーっと並んでいて、自分の気に入ったものを選ぶことができます。私はお店の方に最後はどちらが似合っているか選んでいただきました（笑）着物を選んだ後は帯選びと着付け、そしてヘアアレンジです。着付けもヘアアレンジも手際がとても良く、普段自分ではできないような可愛い髪型にしていただきました。京あるきさんは八坂神社や高台寺、清水寺に比較的近く、四条の町をゆっくり歩きました。清水寺では、抹茶のアイスや湯葉、八ツ橋など、京都ならではのグルメを楽しみました。紅葉シーズンということもあり、人はすごく多かったのですが、紅葉が本当に綺麗でした。清水寺は坂が多いので、着物で歩くの少ししんどかったです。着物で京都観光は初めてでしたが、本当に楽しかったですし、いつもの京都観光とは違った感じで秋の京都を楽しむことができました。また来年も着物で京都観光したいと思います(^-^)

I visited Kyoto to see the autumn leaves. Since I was there, I thought it would be great to finally wear a kimono with my friend, so I participated! I actually invited my husband, but he declined. Laugh. It seems like it was the right choice to go with just the girls. Laugh.

The shop was very easy to find! We went in and chose our kimonos. There were so many different types that I felt overwhelmed! But I made my decision quickly based on my intuition, while my friend took a bit longer to choose... After finally deciding, the staff helped us get dressed. As expected, they were professionals! They dressed us quickly. We could choose from a selection of obi, but I had no idea what to pick, so I went with the staff's recommendation! While they were dressing us, they kept saying, "So cute! Looks great! So cute!" I received a lifetime's worth of compliments. Laugh.

They dressed us smoothly, and we had a lot of fun sightseeing in Kyoto! However, her boyfriend waiting at the shop seemed a bit bored. Laugh. Women do take time to get ready! Laugh. Would I recommend going with a friend? Laugh.

But wow! I highly recommend it! It was so much fun! Thank you very much! ^ ^

I was able to fulfill my dream of wearing a kimono and exploring Kyoto during the beautiful autumn foliage season. After arriving at the shop, I chose a kimono and had my hair styled before heading out. The sooner you choose your kimono, the sooner you can go out, so it's good to have an idea of the colors and designs you want. Since it's a special occasion, I think it's also exciting to challenge yourself with colors you wouldn't normally wear. You can add decorative items like obi cords for an additional fee.

At first, I felt a bit shy, but there were quite a few people exploring in kimonos. I also received a lot of attention from foreign tourists. The kimono was fitted perfectly without any discomfort or pain, making it easy to stroll around.

The planned sightseeing route was Arashiyama, Yasaka Shrine, and Kiyomizu Temple, but due to time constraints, I could only visit Arashiyama in my kimono. Since the shop is located a bit away from the tourist areas in a business district, it's better to plan your sightseeing route with that in mind.

Given that it was November, there were many tourists, and the crowds were quite overwhelming, but I was able to see the beautiful autumn leaves and had a wonderful experience.

紅葉が綺麗な時期に着物を着て京都散策という夢を叶えることができました。
お店に到着して着物を選び、ヘアセットをして〜おでかけという流れです。早く着物を選んだ方が早くおでかけができるので、着たい色やデザインのイメージを持っていると良いかと思います。せっかくなので普段は着ない色に挑戦するのも醍醐味だと思います。帯紐などの飾りは追加料金でつけてもらうことができます。
最初は少し恥ずかしいところもありましたが、着物で散策している人は結構います。また外国人観光客の方々にモテモテになります。着崩れもなく、苦しさや痛みなく着付けていただいたので散策が楽でした。
観光コースは嵐山〜八坂神社〜清水寺の予定でしたが、時間の都合上着物で回れるのは嵐山のみでした。お店の場所が観光地から少し離れたビジネス街にあるのでその点を考慮したうえで観光するコースを考えたほうが良いです。
11月という季節がら観光客がとても多く人混みは大変でしたが、綺麗な紅葉を見ることができとてもいい経験ができました。

The photographs from Esperanto speak for themselves! At first I wasn't sure if I wanted to do the maiko or the geisha photo shoot, but once I saw these photographs, I knew I wanted to go full oiran with Esperanto! The staff are super friendly and super professional, I cannot thank them enough for putting up with me and my family. They make you feel so at ease and like an important guest, so don't feel shy and go all out, you will look very beautiful. The makeup artists are super sweet and do an awesome job. The photographer was also very professional and helped me pose. I was a little worried, booking something out of the country like this, but it all went smoothly and I was able to get my photos and CD the same day. They went all out for me and I can't thank them enough! I've attached some photos that were taken with my cellphone. These photos don't do the professional photos of Esperanto justice. Go with Esperanto for a professional experience, it is worth it!

Went together with my sister. It was no problem finding the place by using Google Maps.The experience were really fun, you got to dress up and take photos like a real model. Although their english was not so good and my japanese is nothing to brag about it worked out fine. They helped you with instructions of how to pose to get the best Picture. We took first Photos by ourselves and then together, not too sure if it was included or they did it because we requested it. Although if given a second chance I would have selected the more expensive plan instead of plan A, since the other one got more kimonos and better hairstyles i would loved to have tried.

I really enjoyed my experience. The location was very easy to find. The staff was super friendly and so accommodating. My makeup/hair stylist was so nice and she spoke fairly good English. I wasn't too sure of the colors so I asked for her recommendation and the colors all turned out beautifully in the photos. You do need to wear your base make up because they only build on top of your make up instead of starting from a clean face. Also, I recommend a STRAPLESS BRA. The photographer spoke English as well and was able to clearly direct me throughout the photoshoot. She even took a photo for me and my friend during the 'free time' session and even directed our pose! I loved all the amenities provided afterwards and the facility was very clean. YOU NEED TO BRING YOUR OWN MAKE UP for when you're finished. They also give you a free name card! Of course, they don't allow you to take photos of photos of picture for obvious reasons but you can keep more photos for an additional cost. They also give 'free time' so you can take photos with your camera. An early appointment is better for foreigners. This studio does free touch ups on your photos if you request. Normally, they would mail the photos to your house if you reside in Japan. However, they will also retouch the photos for you to pick up between 6:30-8pm the same day for foreigners.

Amazing Experience Highlighting Our Kyoto Vacation!

The oiran makeover and photoshoot in Kyoto definitely marked one of our favorite memories for our first trip to Japan. The staff at Esperanto was very courteous and made it a smooth experience from check-in to photo selection, despite our not being able to speak Japanese. The experience was very private, and felt relaxed. Hair and makeup was a pleasure and the photographer was a definite pro! Loved all the shots and the service. Photos were wonderful! Esperanto even gave us a free, fourth photo when we went to pick up our photos! We would certainly do it again if we're in Kyoto in the future!
