久しぶりの外国旅行をこの９月にして、その際もベルトラさんから数日前にリマインダーが来て感激しましたが、やはり今回もしっかりお知らせいただき、感謝です。さて、外国に行ってみてそれはそれで楽しかったですが、逆に日本のことをもっと見たいし、もっと知りたくなりました。今回京扇子の入門コースでしたが、行く前は正直少し憂鬱でした。というのも、学校でも実術の成績はぱっとせず、色のセンスも全くない私でしたかた。工房に通され、ちょっと下手と怒られるのではと心配していました、まず、デザインの型紙を選び、また地の色を選ぶよう言われました。その時点でもどれを選ぶか迷いましたが、その際もさりげなく助言等もいただきました。次に色の付け方を教わりましたが、やはりなかなか上達はしなかったと思います。でも、やってゆくうちに、色のグラデーションのやり方も少しはわかり、色というものの深さも少しわかりました。小学生が、お寺見学をやめてもっとここにいたいというそうですが、その気持ちもわかりました。予定よりもかなり時間もかかりましたが、嫌な顔もせず、無事色付けも終わり、１か月ほどで送ってもらえると聞き、楽しみにして、工房を後にしました。隣では、オーストラリア人のカップルも他のアクティビティーを嬉々としてやっていて、やはり受動的な観光だけでなく、もっと自分で参加できる活動の楽しさを知りました。日本再発見も必要だと痛感しているのでまた参加したいし、外国人の友達も連れて行きたいとも思いました。古都京都に生きずく伝統、素敵です。

今度は大きな風呂敷なんかにもやってみたいです♫

個人的には型紙を先に選んで布の色を選びたかったです。布の色から先に選ぶと、染付で映える色が限定されてしまうので色を選ぶのに迷います。私の場合は水色の布だったので特に暖色系の染付が暗くなりやすいので配色に悩みました。でも意外に気にしなくても大丈夫だったかもしれませんが。
今回、お弁当を包めるようなサイズの風呂敷でかかった時間は、布や型紙を選ぶ時間を抜かして一時間以上。型紙は8〜10cm四方を二つと4cm四方を一つ。
二条城も近く、交通の便も良いので助かります。
とても楽しかったので、次回、京都を訪れる時も利用しようと思います。

気になったことは二つありました。一つ目は、最初に布地の色を選ぶように指示されるのですが、図案のデザインによって使う染料の色も異なるので、図案を選んでから布地の色を選んだ方が出来上がりのイメージがしやすいように思いました。色地の場合のみ、図案と同時に選べた方が親切だと思いました。ですが、今回対応してくださったスタッフさんは、先に図案を選びたい旨を伝えると快く応じて下さいました。二つ目は、「VELTRA」で申し込む人が少ないのかスタッフさんの共通理解がはかられていないのか、京扇子のモニターツアーに申し込んでいるにもかかわらず、「何に染められますか？」と聞かれたり、「お会計はお済ですか？」と聞かれ、毎回「VELTRAの京扇子モニターツアーなんですけど…」と伝えなければならず、心苦しくなってしまいました。「VELTRA」と聞いて分かって下さるスタッフさんとそうでない方がいらっしゃるのは気になりました。
以上、良くないことも書いておりますが、京友禅染め体験はとても楽しむことができましたので、良かったと思います。

色の組合せやグラデーションを付けると無限の世界が広がります。専用の刷毛で型紙に沿って刷り込むだけで、重ね塗りをすると色が混ざりグラデーションの完成。同じ型紙で異なる色を塗るときは注意が必要。色が混じってしまいますので、お店の人に声を変えると洗ってくれるそうですが、気づかず再利用したら思いもかけない色になりました（笑）これも芸術といったところでしょうか。イメージとはちょっと違ったけど、これも良いデザインになったと思います。簡単で夢中になるので一度体験すべき。

The room where you create feels like an art room at school. There is no unpleasant smell from the dyes.

You choose your items and select designs from many templates, listen to the instructions, and it can be completed in as little as 30 minutes if you stick to one design. However, you can choose as many designs as you like (which is also fun!), and if you want to get creative, you can go as far as you wish.

I chose a furoshiki, and my daughter chose a fan. The experience lasted just over 2 hours.

The designs are easy to apply beautifully, and both my daughter and I lost track of time, engrossed in the process. It involves coloring the cut-out designs.

At first, the colors were quite bold, but it seems the trick is to layer the colors lightly. By creating a subtle gradient, you can express your own nuances.

I signed up for this experience thinking it would be a little keepsake, but once I started, I became completely absorbed. At first, I thought, "Is this it?" because there were only a few colors: red, blue, yellow, green, purple, and black. However, I soon found myself in a friendly competition with my friends over the shades and the unique way of creating colors on fabric. It was amazing to see the impression when I lifted the stencil off the fabric. When I could express it beautifully, I felt a rush of excitement. I layered various colors to add depth or even created a gradient with completely different colors. I focused on the iris, which was my labor of love. I chose a dark navy fabric and was told to first paint it white as a base before adding colors. I tried it without the white base, and the colors were completely invisible, which made me realize, "White is definitely necessary!" and I hurriedly added the white, which is a fond memory. Using bright-colored fabric is nice, but dark colors have their own charm and I highly recommend them. I've heard that white dye can only be used on dark colors. Also, be careful not to ignore the stencil, as it can lead to disastrous results. The fact that you can't "redo" adds a sense of tension, but I tend to overdo it and end up thinking, "I messed up!" So for those like me, I think it's best to hold back a little and you'll create something wonderful. For the folding fan I experienced, it seems that I will create just the design and the framework will be done later and delivered to my home, so I'm really looking forward to receiving it. 「ちょっとした記念品代わりに……」と申し込んでみた体験でしたが、やり始めたら夢中になってました。赤、青、黄色、緑、紫、黒、と色の種類が少なくて、「これだけ？」と最初は思いました。けどそれで表現する色の濃淡や、色を布の上で作る、という独特のやり方に、気づけば友人と色の取り合いになってました(笑)。型を布の上に乗せて、その上から色を刷り込むのですが、型を取ってみたときの感動がすごかったです。きれいに表現できると「よっしゃ！」という気分になります。さまざまな色を重ねて色に深みをつけてみたり、あえて全然違う色でグラデーションを作ってみたり。私がメインに置いたのは杜若で、渾身の力作です。紺という濃い色の布を選んだので、下地にまず白を塗ってから色を乗せていってください、と言われて、試しに白を塗らずにやってみたのですが、まったく色が見えなくて「白は確かに必要だ」とあわてて白を刷り込んだのもいい思い出です。明るい色の布を使うのもいいですが、暗い色も味があってすごくおすすめです。白の染料を使えるのは暗い色だけだそうなので。あと、型を無視してしまうと悲惨なことになるので注意です。「やり直し」がきかないのは緊張感があっていいのですが、私はついついやりすぎて「失敗した！」というタイプなので、私と同じタイプの方は「ちょっと物足りないかなー」ぐらいで留めておくと素晴らしい作品ができると思います(笑)。今回体験した扇子では、絵だけ作って骨組みの部分は後でやっていただいて家に届けてもらう、という風だそうなので、完成して届くのがすごく楽しみです。自慢できるような素敵なものでも、ちょっと笑ってしまえるような面白いものでも、「これ私が作ったんだよ！」と自慢できるような一品をぜひ作ってみてください。

I participated in a members-only monitor tour where writing a review made the participation fee free, and I had the opportunity to experience the dyeing technique on a Kyoto fan. I made a reservation, and it was sufficient to just provide my name; there was no voucher confirmation. There was no information or confirmation regarding being a monitor participant or refunds, and when I conveyed this, the staff seemed to be unaware, which made me a bit anxious.

However, the experience itself was incredibly enjoyable! Initially, I had to choose the color of the main fan-shaped fabric and the design I wanted to create, and surprisingly, this part took the most time before we actually started working (laughs). The dyeing process itself was very simple, and even without any artistic talent, I was able to create something that looked really nice (laughs). By layering colors, I was able to create various shades, which was beautiful and fun.

I participated with a friend, and we were so engrossed in our work that we didn't really chat much. At the start of the activity, there were about three or four groups of participants, including families, but by the time we finished, there was no one else around (laughs). I would love to participate again if I have the chance!

会員限定モニターツアーでレビューを書くと参加費が無料になるということで、今回京扇子への摺込友禅を体験させていただきました。
予約をして行きましたが、名前を伝えるのみでOKで、バウチャーの確認はありませんでした。モニター参加であることや、返金についての案内や確認はなく、その趣旨を伝えてもスタッフの方はあまりご存知ないようで少々不安に感じました。
ですが、体験自体は非常に楽しいものでした！
最初に、メインの扇型の布の色の選択から、摺込たい型の選択をする必要があり、いざ作業を開始するまでが意外と一番時間がかかったかもしれません(笑)
摺込作業自体は非常に簡単で、絵のセンスなど芸術的な才能がなくても、とても綺麗にそれっぽく作ることができました(笑)
色と色を重ねることでいろんな色が作るのとができ、とても綺麗で楽しかったです。
友人と参加しましたが、特におしゃべりすることもなく黙々とひたすら作業に熱中していました。
作業を開始時は、家族連れなど3.4組の参加者がいらっしゃいましたが、私達が出来上がった時にはもう他は誰も居なくなっていました…(笑)
また機会があれば参加したいです！

It was fun to easily experience Kyo Yuzen. I made a handkerchief, but I had a hard time choosing a few patterns from so many options. The way the colors change the expression of the patterns is really wonderful. I think it's suitable for beginners, but even those who have experienced it several times can enjoy it thoroughly. I want to do it again!

手軽に京友禅を体験でき、それも楽しかったです。
ハンカチを作りましたが沢山の柄の中から幾つか選ぶのに迷ってしまいました。
色のつけ方で模様の表情が変わるのがとても素敵です。
初心者向けだと思いますが、何度か体験している方でも十分楽しめますね♪
また、やりたいです。
