My college student daughter participated with two friends from Tokyo. Since it's a hot season, I think it's a perfect activity to enjoy in between sightseeing in Kyoto.

The painting activity started with choosing a mold, and they created original designs by combining various molds. It seems they were able to enjoy the painting process in a relaxed manner without feeling rushed. When making the reservation, we initially selected a small furoshiki, but as mentioned in other reviews, it seems they changed to something else on the day of the activity.

Before the painting session, we also had lunch at the attached café. The homemade-style dishes were reportedly very delicious. I wanted to see the actual menu and choose, so I made a separate reservation for the seats, but I thought that the lunch offered with the painting activity would surely be delicious as well.

It was an experience on the second floor of a house away from tourist spots. To be honest, it wasn't as enjoyable as I had expected; it felt more like a monotonous task. The instructor would say, "Do this, do that, okay, go ahead," and it ended abruptly. The steps were different from the instruction manual, and when I asked questions, I was told, "You should know, right? Why can't you do it?" which was embarrassing. It also felt uncomfortable that the instructor kept talking to themselves about other things the whole time. I don't think they meant any harm, though. Also, it generally costs over 3,000 yen.

観光地から離れた民家の2階での体験でした。正直思っていた楽しさはなく、黙々とやる感じです。先生は、こうしてああして、はい、やってな。であっさり終わり。作り方の手順書と違うし質問しても、ゆうたやろ？なんで出来んの？と言われて恥ずかしかったです。作っている間、ずっと他の事の独り言を話されていたのも嫌な感じでした。悪気はないんでしょうけれど。それと大概は3千円以上になりますよ。

We participated with two children aged 7 and 9, and one adult, but it was too difficult for one child to manage alone, so I had to stay close to the younger one. The older child couldn't get much support and ended up crying because they didn't understand how to make it, so I think one adult should accompany each child.

The wagashi we made ourselves was very delicious, and even the children, who usually don't eat red bean paste, said it was tasty and enjoyed it. I definitely want to experience this again.

7歳・9歳の子供2人と大人1人で参加しましが、子供一人で作るには難易度が高く、下の子に付きっきりになってしまいました。上の子は殆どフォロー出来ず、作り方が分からなくなり泣いてしまったので子供1人につき大人1人の付き添いが必要だと思います。
自分で作った和菓子はとても美味しく、普段餡子を食べない子供達も美味しいと言って食べていました。
ぜひまた体験したいと思います。

I didn't expect to experience this with so many people at once, so I was a bit confused. I participated with a group of school trip students, but one person was feeling unwell and seemed to be having a hard time in the restroom. Given the situation, I found it hard to concentrate and it felt a bit awkward. When I was younger, I might have left feeling uncomfortable. However, as I've gotten older, I found myself more aware of the difficulties around me and concerned about the students as time passed. Since I was also supposed to enjoy some matcha on the way back, by that time, I was able to calm down and participate with focus, which made it enjoyable.

There were many participants during Golden Week, and the staff seemed to have a tough time, but the teacher's explanations were clear, and I was impressed to learn how wagashi is made. We participated as a family of five, with two adults and three children ranging from elementary to high school. The staff were all kind and attentive.

There were many patterns to choose from, and it took us about 30 minutes to select one. We were engrossed in the creation process for about two hours. It's great that people of all ages can enjoy this experience.

We were able to learn about traditional crafts. The children were satisfied with their creations and expressed a desire to do it again. There were many foreign guests as well, and hearing English was stimulating. It was interesting to see that some foreigners made reservations to come back a few days later during their stay. Since I came to Kyoto, I wanted to experience something related to traditional crafts, so I made a reservation. I was the only one for the authentic furoshiki experience, but the staff were very kind to me. They frequently checked in with questions like, "Are you okay?" and "How is it going?" Even though there were other participants, I felt comfortable and could concentrate without being neglected. They were all very attentive, making sure that my brushes and paints were not drying out.

Lastly, I would like to share something that left a lasting impression on me. When an older male staff member noticed that I had accidentally applied paint to an unintended area, he said, "Let's hide this part too," and even though all the steps were finished, he prepared a stencil for me. I was feeling down, thinking I had ruined it, but thanks to his quick thinking, I was able to add a cute detail, which I was very grateful for.

Although it took until just before closing time, I was able to create a one-of-a-kind special furoshiki. I would like to come back next time to make something else.

筆や絵の具が乾いていないかも気を配ってくださり優しい方ばかりです。

最後に個人的に一番心に残ったことを書きたいと思います。
年配の男のスタッフさんが、私が気がつかない間に絵の具を意図しない箇所につけてしまった時に「ならここも隠してしまいましょう」と全ての工程が終わっていたにも関わらず、型紙を用意してくださりました。「台無しにしてしまった」と落ち込んでいましたが、その方の機転のおかげで可愛いワンポイントを入れられてとてもありがたかったです。

閉店ギリギリまでかかってしまいましたが世界に一つだけの特別な風呂敷を作れました。また今度は別の物を作りに伺いたいと思います。
