This was an amazing experience! The shuttle bus stopped right outside Hanazono Station and allowed for a comfortable trip up in the mountains with a great view. We were greeted warmly by the staff at Momijiya and enjoyed the delicious meal. After eating we could explore Takao and watch the beautiful autumn leaves. We visited Jingoji and Saimyoji temple and both places were amazing.
A big thanks to the Momijiya staff as well for making our stay great even with our limited Japanese skills.
I can recommend this to anyone who wishes to experience Japanese maple leaves at its best.

I participated on a Saturday, thinking it might just be the right time to see the autumn leaves. There was a long line at the ticket booth, and I was glad I had made a reservation. It was my first time seeing the illuminated autumn leaves, and the sight of the leaves lit up by the lights, along with the reflection on the surface of the pond, was truly enchanting and moving. My companion had attended other light-up events but praised this one, saying, "Eikando is definitely better."

The kaiseki meal exceeded my expectations in terms of variety, and I was at a loss about where to start. Each dish was carefully seasoned, and I ended up finishing everything. I deducted one star because I wished we could see the autumn leaves from our dining spot, but it was very close to a five-star experience, so I gave it four stars.

見頃にはあともう一息かな、という土曜日に参加しました。
チケット売場には行列が出来ていて、予約しておいて良かったと思いました。
私自身は紅葉のライトアップは初めてでしたが、光に照らされた紅葉はもちろん、池の水面に写る風景はとても幻想的で感動しました。
同行者は、他のライトアップに参加した事がありますが「永観堂の方が断然良い」と絶賛しておりました。
紅葉会席は、予想を遥かに上回る品数で、どれから食べて良いか迷ってしまうほどでしたが、一つ一つが丁寧に味付けされていて、ペロリと完食してしまいました。
食事場所から、紅葉が見えたら。。。というので星を一つ下げさせて頂きましたが、星５つに近い４つです。

It was a long-awaited family trip. This year, it was warm, so I didn't have high expectations as the autumn leaves had just started. We had a dinner reservation at 7 PM, but we arrived around 5:40 PM and checked in. They asked us about our meal plans, and we were able to have dinner first without any wait, and then we could enter the grounds of Eikando Temple smoothly. The meal included yudofu and a colorful kaiseki, which I thought might be a bit small for men, but my husband was very satisfied. The autumn leaves here were truly wonderful, and the view of the leaves reflecting in the pond was indescribably beautiful. While enjoying the scenery, we were also able to sit and have sweet sake and ozoni. Since we finished a bit early, we quickly caught a taxi at the exit, took it to the nearest station, and from there, we smoothly returned to our accommodation by train. I believe I will never forget this view for the rest of my life.

家族で久々の旅行。今年は暖かいので、まだ紅葉は始まったばかりであまり期待していませんでした。19時からの食事の予約でしたが、5時40分くらいに到着してチェックインしたら、食事をどうしますかと聞いて下さり、先にお食事をいただき、その後ゆっくり並ぶ事なくそのまま永観堂の境内に入ることができました。食事も湯豆腐や、色とりどりの会席で、男の人にはちょっと少なめかと思いましたが主人は大変満足していました。紅葉もここは本当に素晴らしく、池に紅葉が映る景色は、言葉では表せないほど美しかったです。景色を眺めながら、甘酒とお善哉も座って頂くことができました。少し早めに終わらせたので、出口ですぐタクシーもつかまり、最寄りの駅までタクシーで行き、そこからは電車でスムーズに宿まで帰ることがてきました。この景色は一生忘れないと思います。

I went to Eikando, wondering if the autumn leaves were ready, and it was an emotional start. As soon as I entered, I was struck by the bright red leaves at the tips of the branches. When I looked at the trees as a whole, the vibrant mix of red, orange, and green was simply beautiful. I was moved by the different charm of it all, rather than just seeing everything in red.

I was very satisfied with the kindness of the staff at Eikando, the meals, and the illumination.

Entering the reception from the parking lot was a bit nerve-wracking since it was my first time, but the driver from MK Taxi checked everything in advance, which made me feel at ease.

I definitely want to visit again next year.

永観堂のスタッフの方々の優しさや、食事、ライトアップも満足でした。

駐車場から入る受付も、初めてで不安でしたが、mkタクシーのドライバーの方が事前に降りて確認してくださったりと全てが満足でした。

The geisha was so amateur, she was shaking while dancing. Nobody explained the way we should eat the traditional food.
On the way back, the tour leader was just speaking Japanese and didn’t care about foreigners attendants. She was speaking Japanese all the way back, and sometimes they were laughing or clapping and we as foreigners just waiting for some explanations but nothing.
In my idea it was a dishonor to non-Japanese guest. The tour provider company should provide the same Facilities for all guests. In General it was an expensive activity with poor facilities!

It was a scorching day with temperatures exceeding 35 degrees, but here, a cool and pleasant breeze was blowing. I made a reservation for noon and arrived around 11:30, but my seat was already prepared, so I didn't have to wait. The food was delicious, and I was able to spend a relaxing time in nature. After resting at my seat for a while, I took a stroll nearby, and it was just the right time to head back for the bus (everyone gathered, so we departed early). I thought the riverbed would be along the Kamo River, but considering the coolness and the sense of relaxation, I'm glad I signed up for this tour.

気温が35度を超す猛暑日でしたが、こちらは涼しく気持ちいい風が吹いていました。12時の予約で送迎を申し込み11時半くらいに到着しましたが席は用意されていたので待たされることは無かったです。お食事もおいしく、自然の中でゆったりとした時間を過ごすことができました。しばらく席で休んだ後近くを散歩してちょうどよい感じで帰りのバス時間となりました(みんな揃ったので早めの出発でした)。川床は鴨川沿い、と思っていたのですが涼しさと癒やされ感を考えたらこちらのツアーを申し込んでよかったと思います。

Very convient pick up/drop off spot! Affordable Maiko experience, we chose this experience over parlor games/tea time because we wouldn’t know what to ask a geisha or if language barrier would be a problem. My sister and I enjoyed the performance very much. When we did it it was a small group and the tour leader was the best. One thing to take note is the experience is probably enhanced if you do speak Japanese or have someone that does so you can compliment the performance or ask the Maiko questions, but we knew this going in. Also the bus tour around town showing shrines and temples isn’t necessarily scenic, but rather a quick pass by of all the places (very easy to miss some spots if you don’t turn around quick enough) , but the view at the top of Osaka is worthwhile

First of all, the townscape is beautiful. Just that alone makes for picturesque homes, and I felt a bit hesitant to enter alone, but I was able to do so with peace of mind since I had made a reservation in advance.

The dishes were served one by one according to the menu written in calligraphy, matching our pace of eating. Each dish was appetizing even in the hot summer, with the red of the hōzuki (Japanese lantern plant) evoking the season. Everything was beautifully presented and meticulously prepared, including the ayu (sweetfish), which was perfectly shaped, and I enjoyed every bite. The proprietress was also beautiful, embodying the elegance of a Kyoto woman in traditional attire, and I was able to take a photo with her. Her beauty was picturesque, and her demeanor was graceful. I couldn't help but think that this was truly Kyoto, at Hyakuzukiya. I highly recommend experiencing it for yourself. It's a shame that I couldn't send the photos well due to my lack of skill, as I want you to see them.

まず、町並みが綺麗。それだけでも絵になるお家ばかりで、一人では入るのに気をくれしそうでしたが、事前に予約していたことで安心して入ることが出来ました。
お料理は毛筆のお品書きに沿って、一品ずつ食べるペースに合わせて運ばれて来ました。暑い夏にも食欲の進むモノばかりで、鬼灯の赤が季節を感じさせ、どれも手をかけた、見た目にも美しいものばかりで、鮎も形よくもられ、どれも美味しく頂くことが出来ました。女将さんも美しく、和服の京美人といった感じですが、写メも撮らせて頂きました。絵になる美しさで、立ち振舞も優雅でした。さすが京都と思わずにはいられない、百足屋さんでした。ぜひ味わって頂きたいです。見てほしいのに私の力不足で、写メをうまく送れないのが残念です。

On the day of the event, it was unfortunately rainy and felt a bit cool, but I was able to escape reality for a moment while enjoying a delicious meal (I chose sukiyaki) at a riverside location with an outstanding view, accompanied by the dance and stories of the maiko. (Laughs) Of course, photography was also perfectly allowed!

I heard that out of the five riverside venues, four were open for guests, and we had four maiko come to us: Umetae and Fumikou from Kamishichiken, and Kikuyae and Kanesue from Miyagawa-cho. (Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I couldn't meet Fumikou... so sad.)

Above all, I was really pleased with the attentiveness and care of the staff. I highly recommend this place! Ladies! (Laughs)

当日は生憎の雨で少し涼しく感じられる天気でしたが、抜群のロケーションのなか川床で美味しい食事（すき焼きを選択）を頂きながら舞妓さんの舞やお話しでひととき現実逃避してきました～。（笑）　もちろん写真撮影もバッチリいけますよ！

The interior of the building had a typical Kyoto atmosphere, which was charming and nice. However, the tea ceremony instructor or shop staff had their kimono improperly worn. I attended with my elementary school child, who even remarked that the instructor was arrogant. It may be that this has become a routine for them, but we participated with high expectations, so it was a bit disappointing.

建物の中は京都らしい佇まいで、風情があり良かったのですが、茶道の先生？お店の方はせっかくのお着物の着付けは乱れており、小学生の子供と参加させて頂きましたが、その子供が先生のことを横柄だったと口にするほどでした。
毎日繰り返しのことになり流れ作業のようになられているのかも知れませんが、こちらとしては期待を込めて参加しておりますので少し残念でした。

It was a private tour for just my wife and me. After paying our respects at the shrine from the meeting point at the station, we headed to the first sake tasting shop. Unfortunately, it was fully booked, and we had to wait an hour. Thanks to our guide's quick thinking, we went to a nearby shop for a tasting of three types of sake. The sake from Fushimi was indeed delicious. We enjoyed a tasting at the Gekkeikan Museum and then headed to the main event of the tour, a tasting set of 17 types of sake from all the breweries in Fushimi. However, it was also fully booked. Once again, our guide's quick thinking led us to a different shop inside where we enjoyed a tasting set of nine types. Despite the hiccups, it was a wonderful tour where we could fully enjoy the sake and the scenery of Fushimi. I'm grateful to our guide.

当日は妻と2人の貸切ツアーでした。集合場所の駅から神社でお参りを済ませて最初の利き酒のお店へ。なんと満席で1時間待ち。ガイドさんの機転で近くのお店で3種の利き酒。伏見のお酒はやはり美味しい。月桂冠の記念館での試飲を頂きツアーのメインイベント 伏見の全蔵17種類の利き酒セットのお店へ。なんと満席とのこと。再度のガイドさんの機転で店内の別なお店で9種飲み比べセットを頂きました。ハプニングはありましが、伏見のお酒、街並みを満喫できたツアーでした。ガイドさんに感謝です。

We were welcomed and shown to the waiting room which was comfortable.
We are a family of 4 and shared the tea ceremony with another group of 4 people. This was nice as I thought it might have been more people so this was great.
We were given the history about tea ceremonies and spoken in very good English. We were allowed to ask questions before and after the tea ceremony and could take photos at any time.
We all enjoyed this experience very much and would highly recommend anyone to do this.

The style was different, and it felt refreshing to arrange the flowers. I also drink light matcha in tea ceremonies, but this was my first experience with thick matcha.

Maiko was very beautiful and graceful . Her performance was great. I enjoyed it very much. The tour was a little rush. After we finished dinner we only had 15 mins left to shop and walk around the garden. The staff in the restaurant was polite and nice. I only wish they could introduce in both Japanese and English (They only speak Japanese so we had no idea what was going on)

During the autumn foliage season, it gets very crowded, so I joined a tour. In front of Eikando, there was already a long line of general visitors by the evening... It was so crowded that even getting to a place to eat was quite difficult. After the meal, I was able to enter without waiting in line, which allowed me to make good use of my time, and I was really glad about that.

紅葉時期はとても混むのでツアーに参加しました。
永観堂前は一般の方々で夕方から既に長蛇の列…食事の場所に行くのも大変なくらい混雑してました。

I participated in the November holiday. I had a reservation for lunch starting at 12:30, but due to traffic conditions, I arrived significantly late, around 13:30. However, the staff was waiting at the meeting point, and I was able to enjoy my meal without any issues. The meal was delicious both visually and in taste. However, since it was served in a traditional style on tatami mats, I found it a bit difficult to sit comfortably as I can't bend my legs very well.

After the meal, I enjoyed the temple treasures exhibition. Following the designated route allowed me to visit several halls of the temple that are usually not accessible, which was a delight. Along the way, I was treated to beautiful views of the autumn leaves and the garden.

11月の連休に参加しました。
12:30の昼食開始回の予約でしたが、交通事情で到着が大幅に遅れ、13:30頃に到着しましたが、係の人が集合場所で待っていてくださって問題なくお食事を頂けました。目にも舌にも美味しいお膳でした。ただ、お座敷にお膳のスタイルなので、脚があまり曲がらない自分はちょっと座りずらく感じました。

お食事後の寺宝展も順路通りに進むと普段はあまり入り込めないお寺のいくつものお堂を巡る事が出来て楽しめました。巡るあいだに紅葉やお庭の美しい風景が次々に現れて堪能致しました。

並ばずに入場できる、あたりはちょっとわかりにくかったように思いました。確かに拝観券を購入する列に並ぶ必要はないので、そういう方はこちらから進んでくださいというわかりやすいご案内があったらよりよいのではないかと思います。

Since this is my multiple visit to Kyoto, I was looking for interesting optional tours and came across this one. It was my first time in the Fushimi area. There are many izakayas where you can drink during the day, and plenty of sake breweries. It's a tour that sake lovers will absolutely enjoy. I also learned about Kappa Street, famous for its yellow sakura. Although Gekkeikan was closed for the New Year, I was very satisfied. In the end, we had a tasting of 18 different types of sake at an izakaya that you wouldn't imagine from the outside. Besides us, there were five other tourists from abroad, and we all bonded over our love for sake, making it a fun time until the end. Thank you very much. I have come to love Fushimi.

こちらのツアーに当たりました。
初めての伏見界隈です
昼飲み出来る居酒屋がたくさんある
酒蔵がたくさんある
利き酒が出来る
と日本酒好きにはたまらないツアーです
黄桜で有名なカッパストリートも教えてもらいました
月桂冠はお正月でお休みでしたが大満足でした
最後は外からは想像出来ない居酒屋の集合したお店にて
18種類の飲み比べもいたしました。
私達の他は５人の外国からの観光客の方々でしたが
お酒好きはいつの間にか打ち解けて最後まで楽しい時間でした
お世話になりました。
伏見が大好きになりました。

I use it every year. I think the food is good for the price. It was served in a three-tiered box. The best part is that you can approach the shrine from the side without having to wait in line. Even when there's a huge queue, you can get in right away!
