I had assumed that someone from Kyoto would guide us. I believe the satisfaction level of this tour varies depending on the guide. For someone like me who loves day trips, it was an expensive lesson.

The couple I was with was very friendly and tried to understand my poor English, which made for a great time. It was a bit disappointing that we only visited famous sake breweries like Hikari Saké Brewery and Gekkeikan Okura Memorial Museum, but I was happy to stop by Teradaya as well. The shopping street in Momoyama, especially Ryoma Street, had a lovely retro atmosphere. Thank you very much.

I participated in a tour over the weekend during a business trip with friends who love sake. This tour, set in Kyoto, is a delight for those interested in history and sake.
We visited major historical sake breweries as well as unique, dedicated sake makers. We also enjoyed tasting exclusive, non-retail sake at a shop in a shopping district known for its excellent sake selection. The guide efficiently led us through a challenging itinerary that would be difficult to navigate on our own, culminating in a tasting session at a popular drinking spot in Fushimi, where we sampled a variety of over a dozen types.
During the tour, we also stopped by a shrine known for its sacred water, which was said to have been used for the imperial family's first bath, as well as the site of the Battle of Toba-Fushimi and the remnants of the Aizu clan. For fans of Ryoma, we made a stop at Teradaya (though we couldn't enter as it was outside visiting hours). The guide was very knowledgeable and addressed all our questions about sake.
Fushimi itself is an attractive town with many historical sites and shops that make you want to stop by. Indeed, having some knowledge about history and sake enhances the enjoyment of the experience.

ツアー中にはお酒造りにはもちろん、歴代天皇の産湯に使われたと言う御香水を引く神社や、鳥羽伏見の戦いの場・会津藩の跡地、龍馬好きには必須の寺田屋も立ち寄りました。(寺田屋は時間外で中には入っていません)。
ガイドさんは日本酒についての疑問や質問をしっかり案内してくれます。
伏見自体が魅力ある街で、ついつい寄ってみたくなる史跡やお店がたくさん。
やはり歴史とお酒は知識的な情報があったほうがより楽しめます。

It was a private tour for just my wife and me. After paying our respects at the shrine from the meeting point at the station, we headed to the first sake tasting shop. Unfortunately, it was fully booked, and we had to wait an hour. Thanks to our guide's quick thinking, we went to a nearby shop for a tasting of three types of sake. The sake from Fushimi was indeed delicious. We enjoyed a tasting at the Gekkeikan Museum and then headed to the main event of the tour, a tasting set of 17 types of sake from all the breweries in Fushimi. However, it was also fully booked. Once again, our guide's quick thinking led us to a different shop inside where we enjoyed a tasting set of nine types. Despite the hiccups, it was a wonderful tour where we could fully enjoy the sake and the scenery of Fushimi. I'm grateful to our guide.
当日は妻と2人の貸切ツアーでした。集合場所の駅から神社でお参りを済ませて最初の利き酒のお店へ。なんと満席で1時間待ち。ガイドさんの機転で近くのお店で3種の利き酒。伏見のお酒はやはり美味しい。月桂冠の記念館での試飲を頂きツアーのメインイベント 伏見の全蔵17種類の利き酒セットのお店へ。なんと満席とのこと。再度のガイドさんの機転で店内の別なお店で9種飲み比べセットを頂きました。ハプニングはありましが、伏見のお酒、街並みを満喫できたツアーでした。ガイドさんに感謝です。

Since this is my multiple visit to Kyoto, I was looking for interesting optional tours and came across this one. It was my first time in the Fushimi area. There are many izakayas where you can drink during the day, and plenty of sake breweries. It's a tour that sake lovers will absolutely enjoy. I also learned about Kappa Street, famous for its yellow sakura. Although Gekkeikan was closed for the New Year, I was very satisfied. In the end, we had a tasting of 18 different types of sake at an izakaya that you wouldn't imagine from the outside. Besides us, there were five other tourists from abroad, and we all bonded over our love for sake, making it a fun time until the end. Thank you very much. I have come to love Fushimi.

昼飲み出来る居酒屋がたくさんある

と日本酒好きにはたまらないツアーです
黄桜で有名なカッパストリートも教えてもらいました
月桂冠はお正月でお休みでしたが大満足でした
最後は外からは想像出来ない居酒屋の集合したお店にて
18種類の飲み比べもいたしました。
私達の他は５人の外国からの観光客の方々でしたが
お酒好きはいつの間にか打ち解けて最後まで楽しい時間でした
お世話になりました。
伏見が大好きになりました。

According to the tour operator who guided us, we (two people) were the first Japanese participants. By the way, we were the only participants this time.
However, I think this tour is excellent for those who enjoy sake, as it allows you to "see," "learn," and "taste" the sake of Fushimi all at once.
The course content seems to vary slightly depending on the day, but in our case, it was roughly as follows. First, we visited the Gokō Shrine, which is connected to sake because it is said to have a famous spring called "Fushimi no Gokōsui."
The first sake brewery we visited was the smallest one in Fushimi. We enjoyed a tasting set of three types of sake at a small bar where we could see the sake tanks. It was very delicious. (Since all the sake was delicious, I won’t mention "delicious" for each one.)
Next, we went to the "bar in the shopping district" mentioned in the schedule on the website. Here, we also tasted three types of sake. Gradually, we started to feel quite good.
The third stop was a nationally renowned sake manufacturer, where we toured their museum. This manufacturer was founded in the early Edo period, but it seems that the president who made various innovations during the Meiji period was quite remarkable. It was said that the current status was built by the skills of this "founder of the revival." しかし、日本人でも、日本酒が好きな方には、とても良いツアーだと思う。なぜならば、伏見の酒について「見る」「知る」「味わう」が同時に楽しめるからだ。
コース内容は曜日等によって多少異なるようだが、私たちの場合は、概略以下のとおりだった。
まず、御香宮神社を参拝。ここは、「伏見の御香水」という名水が湧き出しているという点で、お酒と縁がある。
酒蔵巡りの一番手は、伏見で一番小さな酒蔵。お酒のタンクが見える小さなバーで、「飲み比べセット」の3種のお酒を賞味した。とても美味しい。（以下、どのお酒も美味しかったので、「美味しい」はいちいち記さない）
次は、ウェブサイト上のスケジュール説明に出ている「商店街のバー」。ここでも、3種の日本酒を飲み比べた。だんだん、良い心持ちになってくる。
3か所目は、全国的に名の知れた清酒メーカーで、そこの資料館を見学する。このメーカーの創業は江戸時代初期だが、明治時代になって様々な革新を行った社長が偉かったらしい。この「中興の祖」の手腕によって、現在の地位が築かれたという。これこそ「創業は易く守成は難し」の見本であるなと、ほろ酔い気分で感心した。
最後は、スケジュール説明にある「隠れた日本酒バー」である。ここで飲んだ「利き酒セット」で、17種のグラスが並ぶさまは、なかなか壮観だ。（ただし、2人で1セット）
これらを賞味しているうちにツアーの3時間が到来し、ここで案内の方と別れた。もちろん、飲み終わるまでこのバーにいてよいし、さらに自費で飲み続けることもできる。
以上の説明からもお分かりになると思うが、日本酒好きにはピッタリのツアーだ。また、伏見はなかなか風情のある街で、坂本龍馬が襲われてお龍（おりょう）の機転で辛くも脱出したと伝えられる寺田屋などの見どころもある。酔い覚ましに散策するのも良いだろう。
なお、参加される際は、すきっ腹での飲酒とならないよう、事前に腹ごしらえをしておくことをお勧めする。
