Last year, due to the pandemic, there were fewer people, and we toured using a regular bus, but this year there were quite a few more people, so we could ride the SKY Bus without worrying about infection. We got off at our destination, wandered around, and were able to catch the next bus, which was great for visiting various sightseeing spots! However, due to traffic congestion, there was a delay of over 30 minutes, making our wait at the bus stop quite long. Also, I wish the SKY Bus pamphlet had included a map, and it would have been nice if the audio guide had been a bit more comprehensive.

Considering the third wave of COVID-19, I was actually contemplating canceling my trip until the very last minute. What ultimately made me decide to go was the open bus.

The weather was just right—not too cold or too hot (although it was quite windy, haha)—and I was able to enjoy myself with peace of mind.

In reality, I prepared for various situations by purchasing not just antibacterial items, but also antiviral coats and masks (the kind that are quite exaggerated), as well as newly released antiviral gloves. I took every precaution and was fully equipped, but I found that I didn't need any of that on the open bus, and my sister and I enjoyed ourselves without worry the entire time. (However, I believe all that preparation was useful for the journey to get there.)

Since we could hop on and off freely, we were able to skip crowded spots, and there were plenty of points we could enjoy from the bus. This time, we enjoyed the autumn leaves at Kinkaku-ji and Kiyomizu-dera, which were both under construction (so there were fewer people, I suppose).

The new style of bus is perfect for now, allowing for even more enjoyable and safe experiences. I highly recommend it. (My sister and I are both actively working, with a combined age of 130 years!)

　新スタイルバスは今だからこそ。いっそう安心して楽しめました。
お勧めです。（お仕事現役バリバリ姉妹御年合計130歳）

The open-air double-decker bus is incredibly refreshing, but you can get sunburned on sunny days. It must be too hot in the summer. Even in mid-October, it was hot in the sun.
I highly recommend this bus tour for first-time visitors to Kyoto, as it takes you to the classic spots and you can listen to the guidance through earphones. It's a fun experience, like passing under the torii gate of Heian Shrine, which is something you usually can't do.
By the way, the double-decker buses only depart on even hours, so if you take one that departs on an odd hour, it will be a regular sightseeing bus. I was disappointed at first because I didn't know, so please check before you go.

どのスタッフの方もよくして下さり、旅先で何かと不案内なことの多い旅行者には、安心して利用できて良いのではと思いました。
京都リピーターの私も、今回のバスは新鮮な楽しみ方ができて良かったと思いました。

My husband and I only had a day to spend in Kyoto and we looked into day tours but most only took you to two sites. The hop on hop off bus was a great solution. It took us to all the major sites and we get to see way more in 1 day then we would have otherwise. The bus station stop by Kyoto station was easy to find and the other stations were well marked. Staff was friendly and even let us know if certain buildings were closed due to coral virus. When it started to rain we received a poncho as we were getting off the bus and the next bus we got on was enclosed. After the rain stopped we go on an open roof bus and the staff even came up to wipe down any seats that might still be wet. Totally worth it if you only have a short amount of time in Kyoto

We really enjoyed the double decker bus. The city is beautiful and we never would have had the chance to see as much as we did on our own. The staff were super amazing at the bus pick up. My son and I even got back on the bus just to ride around the city after we stopped at so many amazing shrines.
The only drawback was (and this has nothing to do with the tour company) is that most of the places were closed to visitors due to Covid-19.
I would definitely recommend this company to anyone interested in getting a more general perspective of the city.

I participated in this tour for the first time to visit the main attractions in Kyoto. Since it was early March, the open-top bus was cold, but they provided us with hand warmers, which helped us cope with the chill! The open design and height of the bus made it great for viewing the streets of Kyoto.

Although you can hop on and off freely for a day (24 hours), if you miss a bus, you have to wait 30 minutes, and the service is limited to 9 AM to 5 PM, which makes the actual number of rides quite few. I felt the price was a bit high. If you want to take your time exploring the tourist spots, I think it would be more efficient to use a bus or taxi for transportation.

When I was running to catch the bus and almost missed it, they waited for me, which I appreciated and felt their kindness.

We have visited Kyoto many times as a couple, but we were unaware of the existence of this hop-on-hop-off sightseeing bus. We toured places like Kinkaku-ji, Kyoto Gyoen, and the grave of Murasaki Shikibu. Because of the current season, we were able to take our time and enjoy the sights. We also visited the smallest karesansui (dry landscape garden) in Japan, the Higashitakubo at Daitoku-ji Ryogen-in, which left us in awe with its beautiful stone garden in such a small space. The bus was equipped with hand sanitizer gel, ensuring proper infection control measures were in place. The deck of the Sky Hop Bus was wonderfully breezy during our travels, making it the best experience. I want to go again.

I used it for the first time! While I watched the city bus stop overflowing with people, I enjoyed a very comfortable bus journey here as it was quite empty. At the beginning, we were each given headphones, and when connected to the guide installed in our seats, information about our destinations was provided, which was great. Most of the passengers were foreigners, so in a way, I didn't have to worry about anything and could relax freely! However, I think it's better to dress warmly as you feel the wind directly during the cold season. I always rely on Veltra for great deals during my travels. Thank you for your continued support!

This was my first trip to Kyoto. I wanted to visit famous tourist spots like Kinkaku-ji, Kiyomizu-dera, and Fushimi Inari, so I booked this tour that included two of them in the route. It was great that Nijo Castle and Heian Shrine were also on the route, allowing me to visit those as well.

One of the deciding factors was that I would receive a bus ticket to Fushimi Inari, which is not on the route, but this turned out to be quite a challenge. First, the location of the bus stop was difficult for tourists to find. I asked the Sky Hop Bus staff where the bus stop was, and they gave me a vague answer, saying, "I think it's over there." It turned out to be completely wrong. Even when I went to the bus information center, they said they didn't know where it was (I mentioned that the ticket said 6A, but they told me, "There is no 6A"). Just when I thought I finally found it, I discovered that the bus only comes once an hour, and I had just missed it by five minutes. In the end, I had to return to Kyoto Station and take a train to Fushimi Inari. It's not useful to give a bus ticket to tourists who have no sense of direction for a bus that only locals use. I think more consideration is needed.

The Sky Hop Bus itself isn't bad, but considering it only goes around a relatively small area for 3,600 yen, I feel it's a bit expensive. While the double-decker bus allows for enjoying the scenery, it may be good for foreigners, but there’s hardly any reason for Japanese people to choose this bus.

ルートにはない伏見稲荷に行くバスチケットも貰えるとの事だったのでそれも決め手の１つだったのですが、これが大変でした。まずこのバスの停留所の場所が観光客にはわかりにくい。スカイホップバスのスタッフさんにバス停の場所を聞いたのですが、「多分あちらだと思います」と言う曖昧な回答。しかも全く違う場所でした。バスの総合案内所に行ってもわからないと言われる程でした(チケットに６Ａとありましたので、それを伝えましたが「６Ａなんてないですよ」と言われた)。やっとの思いで見つけたと思ったら、なんとそのバスが1時間に一回しか来ず、私が見つけた時は5分前に出発した後でした。結局京都駅に戻って電車に乗って伏見稲荷まで行くはめになりました。土地勘のない観光客に地元の人しか乗らないようなバスのチケットを渡されても使いようがありません。もう少し配慮が必要だと思います。
スカイホップバス自体は悪くはないですが、そんなに広くない範囲をくるっと周るだけで3600円という事を考えるとちょっと高いと感じます。
二階建てバスで景観を楽しめるので、外国人にはいいかもしれないですが、日本人がこのバスに選ぶ意味はほぼないですね。

I had been using hop-on hop-off buses at tourist spots in Europe, so I was excited to see them finally available in Japan! I made a reservation right away. This time, it was a mini trip alongside a training session, and I was able to enjoy the city of Kyoto from a high vantage point while listening to the audio guide through my headphones. I also took a lot of snap photos, so it was definitely more worthwhile than just taking a regular bus.

I had decided on my points of interest in advance, so I was able to combine the bus and train and cover quite a bit of ground. However, it was a bit lonely since there were many foreign tourists using it. It's definitely convenient, so if you visit Kyoto, I highly recommend giving it a try!

ヨーロッパの観光地で以前から乗り降り自由バスを利用していたので日本にもついに登場したか～！って予約しちゃいました。
今回は研修のついでのミニトリップでしたが、イヤホンで観光ガイドも聴きながら京都の街を高い目線から眺められるし、ついでにスナップ写真もたくさん撮れましたよ～なので普通のバスでまわるより絶対お得です。

I was looking for places to guide my colleague from China, and I found that Kiyomizu-dera and Kinkaku-ji were right along the route, so I participated. I was very satisfied because I could explore at my own pace and take my time.
