It was my first experience on a yakatabune (houseboat).
Although it had been raining right up until the day, it cleared up, and there were moments when the sun shone through. While listening to the captain's detailed explanations, I was able to see the natural beauty of the mountains and observe creatures like ducks and cormorants up close.
I enjoyed the scenery with cherry blossoms in bloom, took in the view of Togetsukyo Bridge, and watched as ducks gathered all at once. During the hour, I savored warm oden, grilled squid, and dumplings purchased from a boat that came right up to ours. It became a truly precious and unforgettable memory.
初めての屋形船体験でした。
当日雨が直前まで降っていましたがあがり、陽が差すタイミングも。
船頭さんが丁寧に説明してくださっている説明を聴きながら、山々の自然やカモや鵜などの生き物たちも間近で見ることができました。
桜がら咲いている景色も楽しみつつ、渡月橋も一望しながらカモが一斉に集まる様子を見たり、船の方まで来てくれるおでんや団子など販売している船で購入した暖かいおでんやイカ焼き、団子などを頬張りつつ過ごした1時間は、とても貴重な最高の思い出になりました。
駐車場が空いていなかったり、御手洗が混んでる可能性も加味して時間に余裕をもっていくのがおすすめです。

However, when we arrived, almost all the tour buses had the GOGODAY flag displayed, and we searched for our bus but couldn't find it. While we were standing there, a foreign guide called out to us, and we thought we could finally board, but it turned out that the bus wasn't parked in the lot. Instead, we had to walk about 200 meters to a convenience store parking lot, where we found not a bus, but a 10-seater HiAce wagon. We ended up being exactly 10 passengers, but as expected, the interior was so cramped that we couldn't move. During the ride to the first destination, the uncomfortable vehicle made me feel unwell, and I decided I couldn't take it anymore, so I canceled the tour. After that, I returned to Kyoto Station using public transportation.

We rented a private boat as a family. It was a hot day with a 12:00 boarding time, but the boat had a roof, so it wasn't hot at all, and it felt very pleasant. We had lunch on the boat, bringing our own rice balls and other snacks. Along the way, a convenience store boat came by, and we bought some pickled cucumbers, which made for the perfect lunch with our rice balls and croquettes! They got really close to us, and their maneuvering skills were impressive.
The captain spoke to us gently at key moments, showing consideration for our family's relaxing time. It was a very satisfying hour! Thank you!

I used this service to attend to customers from America. Despite making the reservation just two days in advance, they smoothly arranged the booking and took us to many famous tourist spots. We visited Kinkaku-ji, Arashiyama, Fushimi Inari Shrine, and Kiyomizu-dera from 10 AM to 3 PM. They shared various interesting facts in English and also recommended great photo spots and tips on how to take pictures. While we bought snacks and drinks, they helped us with recommendations for dinner, which was very helpful. Regarding the price, I felt it was inexpensive given the excellent service. We took a private yakatabune (houseboat) ride for the first time with four people. What was great was not only the scenery but also the kindness of the boatman, who spoke to us at just the right distance, neither too close nor too far. He was a wonderful person.
We brought our own bento, but along the way, a shop boat came by, and we purchased some mitarashi dango (sweet rice dumplings). It was such a nice surprise. I plan to recommend this experience to others as well.

We were taken care of during a three-generation girls' trip. At my daughter's request, we had the experience of wearing life jackets and operating the boat with a single rod! From the hotel near Kyoto Station, we visited Kinkaku-ji, Taki-an Temple, the Bamboo Grove, Tenryu-ji, and the area around Togetsukyo Bridge.

Despite the unfortunate weather that seemed like it might rain, I decided to go ahead and use the service, and I had a wonderful time that exceeded my expectations. Even though I arrived earlier than my reservation time, they attended to me right away.
On the boat, the guide shared various stories about the scenery and Kyoto, and even took photos for us. Additionally, a boat shop came alongside, allowing us to buy oden, dango, beer, and more, which made for a fun time filled with eating, drinking, laughing, and even feeding the ducks.
I was initially concerned about the duration being a private charter, but it truly flew by. I would love to try this again during the autumn foliage season.
雨が降りそうなあいにくのお天気で、キャンセルしようかと悩みながら利用させて貰ったのですが、とても楽しく思った以上に素敵な時間が過ごせました。

I visited Kyoto with an American acquaintance. Since it can be tiring to interpret the whole time, I requested a driver who is fluent in English. We chose the places we wanted to visit and consulted with him, who provided advice on the order of our itinerary. Although it was a bit early, the cherry blossom season coincided with a significant return of tourists, resulting in a crowded Kyoto.
