Although it was a bit early, the cherry blossom season coincided with a significant return of tourists, resulting in a crowded Kyoto. I have visited Kyoto many times, but this time I used the service because my Australian husband was with me. They answered all of his questions, and I learned a lot about the history and culture myself, which was truly wonderful. At first, I didn't expect to be guided like a tour guide during our sightseeing, but even though I had been there before, having a guide made it even more enjoyable. また名所の周る度に、写真スポットでの撮影手伝いもサラって対応いただき感謝しております。今回初めてヤサカに申し込みを致しましたが、
社員の方への教育の高さも感じられ、６時間という時間が、楽しく・安心してツアーができたことが何より良かった点であります。
次回もぜひお願いしたいです。

We had the best time with Taka San - we felt like we were great friends by the end of our day in Kyoto. He immersed us in Japanese customs and traditions and thoroughly explained the nuances of each temple and shrine. His local knowledge made our experience in Kyoto better than we could have ever imagined. He even found us a great ramen spot for lunch - he even pushed my grandma in a wheelchair up a steep slope so she could see the beautiful temple. He is truly one of a kind - and we will call him every time we visit Kyoto and the surrounding area. Thank you, Taka San, for an unforgettable experience. The driving tour and his knowledge were so amazing! Having him drive us around and explain everything in such detail was such a special experience! Could not recommend him more!!

Since it was still early in the season and there were no autumn leaves yet, we were able to enjoy a nearly private experience on the houseboat on the river! Despite the early morning, a water convenience store came by, and since we hadn't prepared any food, we were able to enjoy a moment of luxury. The person who rowed the boat was also entertaining, and it felt like they were talking the whole time. It was an experience I would recommend to my friends.

It had been a while since I visited Kyoto. I participated in a tour to see the cormorant fishing and the Gozan Okuribi (the fire sending ceremony) from a houseboat.

The weather was suspicious from the start, and just before the cormorant fishing began, we were hit by heavy rain. Just when I was starting to give up hope that it would be canceled, the cormorant fishing started, and I was able to enjoy it after all.

I was worried that the fire sending ceremony wouldn't be able to take place after the heavy rain, but to my surprise, I was able to see the large "大" and "⛩" fires. By the time we disembarked, the rain had stopped, and I wished the timing had been better. Just then, the boatman instructed us to reboard, and we were able to enjoy the cormorant fishing once more.

It was heartwarming to see the effort from the cormorant fishermen and the boatman to ensure that participants had the best experience possible, despite the bad weather.

P.S. I got completely soaked from the initial downpour, comparable to waiting in line for an attraction at Universal Studios Japan, but some participants rated the experience highly, saying, "It was a valuable experience!" which lightened the mood. I recommend wearing clothes that can get wet. (You won't get wet if it doesn't rain.)

久しぶりの京都。屋形舟から見る鵜飼と五山送り火ツアーに参加しました。
乗船時から怪しい天気でしたが鵜飼が始まる前に大雨に。これは中止も仕方ないかと諦めかけた頃に鵜飼がスタート。なんとか鑑賞できました。

下船する頃には雨が止み時間がズレてたら良かったのにと思っていたら、船頭さんから再乗船の指示が有りもう一度鵜飼鑑賞させて頂ける事になりました。
天候不良は鵜匠さんや船頭さんの不備じゃ無いのに参加者に最大限楽しんで貰おうという姿勢が嬉しかったです。
追伸:
最初の大雨でUSJのアトラクション並にずぶ濡れになりましたがツアー参加者から『貴重な体験が出来た！』と高評価の方が居て場が和みました。
濡れても良い服を推奨します。

Tonight marked the "Gozan Okuribi," a fire festival that hadn't taken place in three years. Luxuriously watching the cormorant fishing up close, everyone was eagerly waiting for the lighting of the "Dai" character, barely able to contain our excitement. Nearby, there were yakkabune that seemed to belong to celebrities, with real taiko and shakuhachi players creating beautifully enchanting sounds that heightened the atmosphere even more. Then, suddenly, we heard distant thunder and lightning, followed by an unexpected downpour. Everyone got soaked, and a sense of unease spread among us. However, we were all hoping for a miracle. Soon, the rain lightened, and lights appeared on the distant mountains, causing a stir of excitement among us. Before we knew it, the "Dai" character emerged, truly majestic and worthy of the term "sublime," and it was genuinely moving. There were even women among the boat passengers who were in tears. 8／17の曇空の晩、沢山の見物客でごった返す渡月橋を目の前にした大堰川。若く話が上手い船頭さんと私たち10余名の客はそこに浮かぶたくさんの屋形船の一つに乗り込みました。今夜は3年ぶりの「五山送り火」。贅沢にも鵜飼漁を間近で見ながら、今か今かと皆興奮を隠し切れずに大文字の点灯を待っていました。辺りではセレブと思しき屋形船があり本物の鼓と横笛の奏者がその幻想的に美しい音色を響かせ、益々雰囲気を盛り上げていました。すると間もなく遠くに稲光と雷鳴が響き、まさかの大雨。皆びしょ濡れになり不安が漂たっていました。しかし皆奇跡を待ち望んでもいました。すると、小雨になり、遠くの山に灯りが見え、一同ざわめきと興奮が。そして、みるみる内に「大」の字が姿を現し、それはまさに荘厳と呼ぶに相応しく、本当に感動しました。舟客の中には泣いている女性もいた程でした。舟全体に一体感が広がりましました。ご準備をして下さって京都や京都府警の皆さん本当にありがとうございました。このイベントは本当おすすめだと思います。

Although the Gozan Okuribi was delayed, it was not canceled, and we were able to enjoy the cormorant fishing until the very last moment. The boatman's service was excellent, and we were both very satisfied. We truly felt it was a great decision for us as a couple to participate.

I couldn't make a reservation for the Hozu River boat ride, so I quickly booked this instead. Since it was a private charter, I didn't have to worry about other guests and was able to enjoy conversations and meals on board.

My husband & I ENJOYED this trip so much. At first we were very nervous about purchasing this trip due to the fact that it had a special “review rebate” but it turned out to exceed our expectations.

This trip wouldn’t have been the same without June! He was an amazing tour guide. Being in a different country can be nervous but he explained the culture in a way that you will be able to understand! We got to visit all of the popular destinations here in Kyoto without worrying about calling a taxi, time or even admission costs. June took care of everything!

Memorable tour

We spend 15 days in Japan and took many local tours from many different tour companies, this is by far the best we had.
Jun, our tour guide, a Japanese native with fluent english speaking, very punctual and organized and also gave us enough free time to explore our own. He is very passionate and knowledgeable about Japanese culture and very happy and proudly shared with us along the trip and on every location we visited.
For anyone looking for this tour, I suggest to travel lite, although there's enough time for everyone, we even have a couple with a toddler and stroller within our group at that time, we still manage to finish all location and have spare time. But without our punctual guide, we won't be able to see so many locations in a day.
Very well organized, I will definitely recommend this to everyone.

Effective and efficient tour of Kyoto in 1 day!

I would recommend this tour if you are looking for an efficient and effective use of time to cover all the main attractions of Kyoto in 1 day. The attractions covered were all the must see attractions so there was no time wasted at visiting attractions that were less popular. Time spent at each location is also about right - not too long and not too short. It didn’t feel very rush and we still had time to grab some but and walk around on our own a little. The bus was also comfortable and we manage to catch a nap between the attractions that were further apart. The explanations provided by the guide could be abit more detailed (as we are history lovers), but the information provided is definitely enough if you are looking for just an overview and the gists. Overall, it was definitely a day and money well spent given that we managed to cover all the attractions we wanted to see in Kyoto in one day. It was our first time in Kyoto, so this tour really helped to save us a lot of time and trouble of having to figure our way out via public transport. We wouldn’t have been able to cover all the attractions without this tour. The guided tour also helped us enjoy each attraction efficiently such that we do not have to loiter around aimlessly.

Very good experience overall. Professional bus driver who drove safely and kept to the strict timelines. Our guide Joon was very friendly and witty. Well done!
I would suggest that the lunch option should include seafood or halal options. After a full day of walking settling for pure vegetarian food was a bit of a let down. Otherwise, I strongly recommend this tour to visitors who have limited time in Kyoto. It takes you to all the major sites and provides you with a good orientation of the city.

Fast, fun and informative

This was a great list of places to visit as they are all the places that it would be harder to get to when on your own by public transport. The day was beautiful and our guide was very well informed. I would definitely recommend it. The only negative thing I have to say is that I wish we could have stayed longer at some of the locations but with so many to visit and most of the temples and shrines closing before 5 pm here in Kyoto, there was no choice but to move quickly.

Due to limited time We booked this tour the day before. Due to the Booking time already closed on the website we had to co-ordinate our booking through VELTRA facebook messenger. The team were very fast to rely & with great communication we were able to secure 3 seats on the Tour.
The meeting location across from Kyoto Station was very easy to find & we waited for our Tour Guide. Jorge Introduced himself & lead us onto the bus for a very full day of sight seeing.
At Each Cultural sight we were given a full educational history & cultural commentary by Jorge & then our own time to explore, if time permitted a little shopping. My daughters & I always seemed to be rushing for the bus as so much to see & do at each location. Even though Jorge is not a native from Japan his knowledge & insight is fantastic. We found Jorge to be funny, calm & professional.
Our Tour was on Saturday & a public holiday in Japan, so some locations such
as the Bamboo Forrest & 1001 Tori gates were busy. Due to the crowds & a few mishaps during the day, & through no fault of our Tour guides, we ran behind
time. WE made our last stop The Golden Pavilion 10 mins before closing & as the sun was going down. Luckily I was able to get a few photos & walk around the Temple before the gates were closed. Our supplied lunch at the Bamboo Forest location was very unique & tasty.
I Recommend NOT DOING the TOUR on the weekend or Public Holiday if
possible. I would use Veltra Tours again & 100% highly recommend Jorge as a Tour Guide. Its a very full busy day & was very glad to be able to rest on the bus between locations.
