On the way from Nagasaki Port to Fukue Port, I was irritated by the unfriendliness of the terminal staff, but on the return trip, the staff at Fukue Island's terminal were kind and helpful. For those participating in the one-day tour around Fukue Island, it's worth noting that the arrival time at the terminal is set after the ticket issuance deadline, so it might be better to get your return ticket right after arriving on the island or during the lunch break. (While there may be time to return to the terminal at the end of the tour, there's no guarantee.)

On the return trip, we stop at Narao Port before heading back to Nagasaki Port. I didn't do much research, and when I saw the boat (and myself) heading further north on the GPS map, I thought I had taken the wrong boat, which gave me quite a scare (laughs). The restroom is small but unisex and located near the passenger area, so no worries there. Since the boat can be rocky, don't forget to bring motion sickness medication.

行きの長崎港→福江港ではターミナルのスタッフの不親切さに苛つきましたが、帰りは福江島のターミナルのスタッフが親切で良かったです。福江島１日周回ツアーに参加している方は、一応ツアーでターミナル到着時間がチケット発券時間の締め切り後に設定されているので、島に着いてすぐ、またはお昼休憩のタイミングで帰りのチケットを発券した方が良いかもしれません。(ツアーの最後に余裕持ってターミナルに戻る事もありますが確証はありません)

そして、帰りは奈良尾港に寄ってから長崎港に帰ります。自分はよく調べていなくて、GPSマップでどんどん北に向かう舟(と自分)を見て、船を間違えたのかと思い、肝が冷えました(笑)トイレは狭いですが男女兼用で客室近くにありますのでご安心を。揺れやすいので酔い止め薬を忘れずに。

The notice stated, "Please check in by 7:10," and I thought it would be difficult if I got lost in an unfamiliar place, so I left the hotel early and arrived at the ferry terminal at 6:40. However, the reception desk at the ferry terminal doesn't open until 7:00.

Additionally, of the three jetfoil reception desks, the one we happened to be in line for did not open at 7:00 for some reason. This desk opened a few minutes late, but if there was an issue preventing it from opening, the staff at the adjacent open desk could have simply said, "That one isn't ready yet, please line up at a different desk." Instead, they glanced at us without saying anything and began checking in their own customers. Everyone in our line was confused and, reluctantly, we had to move to the adjacent desks where people who arrived after us were already lining up. While it’s not the fault of Veltra, the staff at the ferry terminal were not very helpful, so if you have any concerns about your reservation, it might be best to ask in advance for peace of mind.

I booked tickets for my family through Veltra and reserved my own seat on the official site, but I was able to get seats next to each other. It seems that after obtaining tickets through Veltra, you can directly specify your seats at the desk.

「7時10分までに受け付けするように」という内容が書いてあり、知らない土地で迷ったら大変だと思い、早めにホテルを出発してフェリー乗り場に6時40分に着きました。しかしフェリーターミナルの受付窓口は7時にならないとシャッターが開きません。

そして３つあるジェットフォイルの受付も、偶然その時は私達が並んでいた窓口が何故か7時に開かず。この受付窓口は遅れて数分後にシャッターが開きましたが、何か事情があって開かないなら隣の開いた窓口の受付スタッフが「そこはまだ準備できていないので、違う窓口に並び直してください」とか言えばいいのに、何も言わずに一瞥したあと自分の窓口に並ぶお客さん達の受付を始めます。私達と同じ列に並ぶお客さんたちはみんな戸惑って、仕方なく自分より後から来た人たちが並ぶ両隣の窓口に並び直しました。ベルトラが悪い訳ではありませんが、フェリーターミナルのスタッフが親切ではないので、予約に不安な点があればあらかじめ聞いておいた方が安心かもしれません。
家族のチケットをベルトラで、自分のチケットを本サイトで席予約して取りましたが、ベルトラ席をその隣にしてもらうことが出来ました。なのでベルトラでチケットを取ったあと、直接窓口で座席指定する仕組みなようです。

The jet foil service from Nagasaki to Fukue Island that I had reserved was suddenly canceled due to a malfunction. Fortunately, I was able to catch a flight two hours later, which allowed me to enjoy sightseeing in Nagasaki city. The jet foil was comfortable, and although I took some motion sickness medication just in case, it turned out to be unnecessary.

予約していた長崎から福江島へのジェットフォイル便が、急遽故障で運休｡幸い、2時間後の便に乗れた事から、長崎市内観光が楽しめました。ジェットフォイルは快適で、一応酔い止めを飲みましたが、必要無かったです。

As expected, the jet foil doesn't sway, so you can take action immediately after arriving. Motion sickness is tough, after all.

The process was easy, so I would like to use it again. However, on the way back, there were many passengers, and a group of young people was very close to us. We gradually ended up being pushed to the corner, but there were no troubles.

手続きが楽なのでまた使いたいと思います。ただ帰りは乗船客が多く、自分たちのすぐ近くに若者グループが近い距離にいました。徐々に隅っこに追いやられる形で過ごしましたがトラブルはありませんでした。

The weather was nice, and it was a pleasant trip. Just showing my smartphone was enough to issue the tickets, which made me feel relaxed. There weren't too many people on board, so it was comfortable.

The weather was rainy, but it was more comfortable than I expected without much shaking. I brought my luggage in a trunk, and it was nice that there was a place to store the trunk. I would like to request this again if I have the opportunity.

On the official website of Kyushu Ferry, you can only make reservations for the jet foil, but it's very nice that you can also book ferry reservations with discounts.

九州商船の公式サイトではジェットフォイルの予約しかできないのですが、フェリーの予約もできしかも割引があるのはとてもうれしいです。

The second-class ferry has a spacious carpeted area that resembles a kids' space, where you can sit freely or lie down. The route from Narao Port to Fukue Port isn't very long, so I was able to enjoy the boat trip just right. It might have been a coincidence, but there was hardly any rocking, and I was able to spend my time comfortably.

フェリー２等はキッズスペースのような広い絨毯敷の空間に自由に座ったり雑魚寝したりしての移動になります。
奈良尾港〜福江港はさほど長い航路ではないので、程よく船旅を楽しむことができました。
たまたまかもしれませんが、揺れもほとんどなく快適に過ごせました。

Due to strong winds and weather conditions, the scheduled boat may be canceled. It’s always a good idea to check with local tour guides about the operation forecasts and adjust your plans accordingly. In my case, the guide advised me to change my schedule on the day of my arrival, which allowed me to swap the plans for the next two days and successfully complete all the activities I had originally planned.

強風や天候によっては予定していた船が欠航になることもあります。
地元の観光ガイドの方などに運航予想など確認して予定を組み直すことも常に考えておくと良いかと思います。
私の場合は到着した当日にガイドさんが予定変更をアドバイスしてくださったので、翌日と翌々日の予定を入れ替えたお陰で予定していたアクティビティを全て実行することができました。

It was great to be able to travel from Nagasaki to Goto in a short time compared to taking the ferry.

The next day, I had also reserved a ferry from Fukue Port to Narao Port, but unfortunately, that service was canceled due to bad weather. 翌日は五島福江港から奈良尾港までのフェリーを同様に予約していたが、天候不良のためその便が欠航になってしまい残念。しかしその際、私の携帯に九州商船からショートメッセージと電話で事前に欠航の連絡があり助かりました。こちらでネット予約して良かったと思います。

I visited the Upper Goto Islands and used this service on my way back. Just like on the way there, I presented my voucher at the ticket counter to get my boarding pass. Since I had a second-class ticket, I think it's a good idea to board early to secure a good spot, but if the weather is nice, it’s also great to go up to the deck and enjoy the view. The boat didn't sway, so I was able to spend the trip comfortably.

上五島を観光して帰りに利用しました。行きと同じでチケット売り場にバウチャーを出して乗車券を引き返しました。2等なので早めに乗車すると良い場所を確保できると思いますが、天気が良ければデッキに上がって景色を眺めるのも良いと思います。船も揺れなかったので快適に過ごせました。

By presenting the voucher at the ticket purchase window, I was able to exchange it for a boarding ticket. Although it was second class, the passengers were enjoying themselves in their chosen spots. The sea was calm, so there was no rocking, making for a pleasant experience.

バウチャーをチケット購入窓口に出すことで乗車券と引き換え出来ました。2等でしたが乗車の人達は思い思いの場所を確保して過ごしていました。穏やかな海だったこともあり揺れも無く過ごせました。

I purchased tickets for the first time through Veltra. The discounted price is attractive. Even though it wasn't the day of boarding, I was able to exchange the voucher for tickets the day before, which allowed me to arrive at the port on time for boarding and gave me some extra time to spare.

Since the seats were already assigned in advance (not by me), it was fine to arrive at the counter on time. I was worried about the waves, but the weather was good that day, making for a comfortable boat trip. There was a moment when we had to make an emergency stop due to debris being sucked in, but we restarted after about five minutes. It was an incident that reminded me not to throw garbage into the sea.

On the way back, it was much less crowded since summer vacation was coming to an end. Unlike the outbound trip, I had the lounging space all to myself! There was plenty of room for a pillow too. Since I was alone, I didn’t have to worry about others and could stretch out comfortably for a nap. I knew there wouldn’t be internet access from my experience on the way there, so I went out on the deck to enjoy the view of the sea and spent my time relaxing. The weather was cloudy again, but the waves were higher than on the way there, and for about 30 minutes to an hour after departure, the boat rocked quite a bit. The vertical and horizontal swaying alternated, which made me feel a little nauseous. The locals even said, “It’s less rocky than usual today,” and after getting used to the wind, I was able to read normally. It was a day with a maximum temperature of 35 degrees in Nagasaki, but I didn’t feel the heat while being in the breeze, which was pleasant. The three-hour boat trip turned out to be a refreshing time. I had given up on the internet, so I ended up sleeping soundly after a while. Ferries take time, but if you can secure space during busy times while traveling alone, it’s incredibly comfortable. The outbound trip during summer vacation was a bit tough due to the pillow battle, but on the way back, I was able to use the space freely and relax. Next time, I want to aim for the off-season and go again. Goto Islands were the best islands!

帰りは夏休み終わりかけで、行きよりだいぶ空いてました。行きと違ってごろ寝スペースを広々と独占！ 枕も余裕であった。一人だから周りを気にせず、のびのび寝転がって仮眠。ネットがつながらないの行きでわかってたのでデッキに出て海眺めたて、ゆったり過ごせました。天気はまた曇りだったけど、行きより波が高めで、出港後30分〜1時間くらいは結構揺れました。縦揺れと横揺れが交互に来て、ちょっと気持ち悪くなった。地元の人も「今日はいつもより揺れ少ないねー」みたいな感じで、ちょっと風に当たって慣れてきたら普通に本読んだりできるようになりました。長崎では35度最高気温の日だったけど、風に当たってると暑さを感じず心地よかったです。3時間ちょっとの船旅が、むしろリフレッシュ時間になって良かったです。ネットはあきらめてたので途中から爆睡。フェリーは時間かかるけど、一人旅なら混雑時でもスペース取れれば最高に快適。夏休みの行きは枕争奪戦でちょっと大変だったけど、帰りは広々使えてリラックスできました。次はオフシーズン狙ってまた行きたい。五島は最高の島でした。

During the peak of summer vacation, the morning ferry was busier than expected. When I entered the terminal, it was already overflowing with people, and I ended up getting a late ticket for the second-class (carpet sleeping area). As soon as I boarded, I headed to the sleeping space, but it was almost completely full. While pillows are available for free rental, there are a limited number, so it's first come, first served. By the time I arrived, there were hardly any left, and everyone was using towels or bags as makeshift pillows. The space was cramped, and it felt like we were all sleeping very close to each other, in a complete communal sleeping situation. The weather was cloudy, and the sea wasn't too rough. For a while after departure, the bay was calm, and I was leisurely reading a book, but once we hit the open sea, the waves started to pick up a bit, causing a slight rocking motion. Even though ferries are supposed to be more stable than jet foils, the summer open sea occasionally felt like a big jolt, and I started to feel a bit seasick. But since I was traveling alone, I endured it, lying down and closing my eyes. The journey took about 3 hours and 10 minutes, which surprisingly felt long. I had docomo internet, and for about 30 minutes after departure, I was able to connect normally and check social media, but as we got closer to the Goto Islands (the real open sea), I suddenly lost signal. I was completely cut off for about an hour and had to rely on offline music and videos to get by. It was a complete digital detox. The signal came back when we reached Fukue Port. Once I arrived in Fukue, the island's air was so refreshing that it blew away my fatigue!

夏休みピークで、朝の便は予想以上に混んでました。ターミナルに入ったらすでに人で溢れてて、2等（カーペットのごろ寝エリア）の整理券が遅めになってしまった。乗船してすぐごろ寝スペースへ行ったけど、もうほとんど埋まってて…枕は無料貸出だけど、数に限りがあるらしく早い者勝ち。僕が着いた頃にはもうほとんど残ってなく、みんなタオルやバッグを枕代わりにしてごろ寝。スペースも狭くて、隣の人と距離が近い感じで、完全に雑魚寝状態でした。天気は曇りで、海はそれほど荒れてなかった。出港後しばらくは湾内が穏やかで、のんびり本を読んだりしてましたが、外海に出ると少しずつ波が出てきて軽く揺れました。フェリーだからジェットフォイルより安定してるはずなのに、夏の外洋はたまにドーンと当たる感じがあって、少し船酔い気味に。でも一人旅だから我慢して、横になって目を閉じて耐えました。所要時間約3時間10分は意外と長く感じた。ネットはdocomoで、出港後30分くらいまでは普通に繋がってSNSチェックとかしてたのに、五島に近づくあたり（外海の本番）から急に圏外に。1時間くらい完全に使えなくなって、音楽も動画もオフラインでしのぐしかなかった。完全にデジタルデトックス状態。電波復活したのは福江港でした。福江に着いたら、疲れも吹き飛ぶくらい島の空気が気持ちよかったです！

I used it for the return trip. The process is simple, so I had plenty of time to buy souvenirs. There were a lot of cars, but not many people, so I was able to relax and take a nap (deep sleep) on the way back.

復路に利用しました。手続き簡単なのでお土産買う時間にも余裕があります。車は多かったけど人は少なかったので余裕でごろ寝（爆睡）して帰ってきました。

Taking the ferry is a long journey of three hours, but since it takes half that time to arrive, I was able to make effective use of my time and enjoy sightseeing in Nagasaki for longer.

I took a ferry to Goto and returned by jet foil. In terms of price, the ferry is cheaper, but the jet foil is absolutely worth it. It's fast and comfortable to ride. It justifies the double price difference.

五島へ行きはフェリー、帰りはジェットフォイルでした。価格的にはフェリーですが、絶対的にジェットです。早くて乗って楽です。倍の価格差を吸収します。

But it was an amazing time!!

Since I took the ferry both ways, it took some time, but it was a relaxing experience. In the second-class dormitory, they provide blankets and pillows, which makes it comfortable.

行き帰りともフェリーにしたので、時間はかかりますがのんびりとした時間でした。
雑魚寝2等は毛布と枕を貸していただけるので快適です。
