Due to the location of our stay, we participated in the tour departing from Chatan. The location is near "American Village," making it efficient for sightseeing after the tour.

Since it was the peak season for whale watching, the relatively large boat was fully booked. Most of the passengers were Asian tourists. Those who sat in the open (uncovered) seats enjoyed the fresh air but ended up soaked from the splashes by the time we returned, so I recommend choosing seats towards the back when boarding.

It can be quite rocky, so if you're prone to motion sickness, taking medication is essential.

After arriving at the spot, we chased after the whales, moving around quietly. During that time, we were able to spot whales several times. I would love for you to experience it in detail, but it’s quite a rare experience, especially recommended for those with children!

滞在場所の都合上、北谷発に参加。場所は「アメリカンビレッジ」のそばですのでツアー後の観光にも効率が良いです。
ホエールウォッチングの繁盛期ということもあり、割りと大きめの船も満席状態。大半はアジア系の観光客。開放感で外側(囲いのない)の席に座った人は帰る頃には波しぶきでビショビショになってましたので、乗船時は奥の席をおすすめします。
結構ゆれますので、酔いに心配な方は薬は必須。
スポット到着後はクジラを追いかけ地味に移動を繰り返します。その間何度かクジラを発見することが出来ます。詳しくは体験して頂きたいですが、なかなか貴重な体験ですので、お子さんのいる方には特におすすめします！

名古屋では前々日に雪、沖縄の天気は気まぐれ週間天気とにらめっこで当日の予報は曇り。
暑い22度らしく名古屋と比べものにならない。1便9時出航時は晴れ間も覗き日頃のおこないに感謝と自分をほめる。クルーズ船で30分ほどでポイント？に到着、隣の妻があ！クジラと興奮気味に教えてくれ視線をやると自分までも興奮！！潮を吹いたとこにクジラが居ますと船長の教えで海面をきょろきょろ注目、するとまたクジラ、興奮！！船長が猛ダッシュ！！意外に近くで観れました。根気がいりますが発見した時の満足感はたまりません。大満足なクルーズでした。2時間ちかく船に乗っているので自信のない人は船酔い止めの薬飲んでたほうがいいよ。
楽しかった！！また参加しますね。興奮をそれまで維持します、ありがとうございました。

I gifted this whale watching tour to my sister and her husband for their 25th wedding anniversary. My husband and I also participated, so there were four of us. The whale watching was the highlight of this trip, but while there were a couple of whale spouts, I couldn't see them clearly. The journey there took quite a while, and the waves made the boat rocky, but we managed to endure it because we were excited about seeing whales. However, on the way back, the speed of the boat and the rocking were overwhelming! There was a storm of vomiting from all sides! It was tough. We didn't get seasick, but the experience didn't turn out to be a great memory as we had hoped. It's a shame. The weather was cloudy, but at least it didn't rain, so that was good. Since we are dealing with nature, it's understandable, but I really wanted everyone who participated to see the dynamic sight of the whales! I feel regretful. 今回結婚25周年記念の妹夫婦にこのホエールウォッチングツアーをプレゼントしました。私達夫婦も参加し４人でいきました。今回の旅の一番の楽しみであったホエールウオッチングでしたが、鯨の潮吹きが2.3回あったようですが、よくわかりませんでした。行きも結構時間がかかり波もあったので揺れましたが、鯨に会える期待が大きかったので我慢出来ましたが、帰りの船のスピードと揺れにはまいりました！前から後ろから横から次々と嘔吐の嵐！しんどかったです。私達は船酔いはしませんでしたが、せっかくの楽しみがなんかあまりいい思い出にはなりませんでした。残念でした。天気は曇りで雨が降らなかっただけでも良かったです。自然が相手ですから仕方ないですが、ダイナミックな鯨の姿今回参加した皆んなに見せてあげたかった！心残りです。また機会があればみんなで行きたいなあ！と思います！モニターツアーまたよろしくお願いします！スタッフさんお疲れ様でした！

I participated in this trip because I wanted to show my husband the dynamic appearance of whales. I understand that it's about facing nature, but it was very disappointing that we only saw the spout a couple of times and the tail in the distance! To make matters worse, we were running late on the way back, and the boat was going too fast. We were splashed by the waves, and because of the roughness, many people were getting seasick and vomiting. It was unbearable to see the mess in front of us on the boat. I understand the staff's intention to help us see the whales, but I wonder if it would have been better to leave with the disappointment of not seeing them rather than the feeling of nausea. All I have left are the scenes from the boat! I really wanted to see the big whale! I hope to have another chance to try again next time.

今回主人に鯨のダイナミックな姿を見せてあげたいと思い参加しました。自然との向き合いなので仕方ないなと思いますが、噴気だけ2.3回尾が遠くにすこし見えただけでとても残念でした！おまけに帰り時間が押していて船のスピードが激しすぎました。波にあたって水しぶきはあるわ、揺れが激しかった為あちらこちらから、酔われて吐かれてました。汚物が前の方にかかったりして見るのも耐え難い船上でした。なんとか見させてあげようというスタッフさんの気持ちはわかりますが、吐いて辛かったという気持ちが残ってしまうよりは、見えなかった残念の気持ちが残った方が良かったのかな？と私は思いました。船上での光景しかのこりませんでした！大きなクジラの体が見たかったです！今度また機会があったらリベンジしたいなあと思っています。

I participated in the 9 AM departure.
To start with the results of the whale watching, I was able to see a mother and baby whale swimming together! Although I only saw their backs, it was heartwarming to witness them swimming close to each other, and I was even able to see them spouting water occasionally.

As for the process leading up to the encounter, first, we took a free shuttle to the meeting point, which was a really large bus typically used for tours (this may vary depending on the number of participants). Since it can't enter narrow roads, I recommend that those considering the free shuttle book a hotel close to the main roads.

During the ride, we were given a paper with participation guidelines, which we read and signed.

After picking up participants from their hotels, we arrived at Mie Castle Port. When I got off the bus, I noticed that there were mostly foreigners, particularly many from China.

At the waiting area, we submitted the signed guidelines from the bus, and at this time, I received a ticket, a postcard, and a whale book (one per group). The waiting area has restrooms and a smoking area. Although both are available on the boat, it seems better to take care of that beforehand.

It seems that the color of the ticket we received during participant confirmation determines which boat we would board; mine was green, corresponding to the boat in the photo. 見られたのは背中だけでしたが、
母クジラと子クジラが寄り添って泳いでいるのがわかり、とても微笑ましい光景で、時折潮吹きも見ることができました。

出会うまでの過程は、
まず、無料送迎で集合場所へ、ツアーなどで使われるような本当に大型のバスでした。(これは参加人数などで変わるのかもしれません。)
細い道には入れない為、
無料送迎を考えている方は
主要道路に近いホテルを取る事をオススメします。

道中、バスの中で、参加の注意事項が記載された紙を渡され、それを一読し、サイン欄に名前を記入します。

送迎希望参加者のホテルを周り三重城港へ、
バスを降りてみると外人さんばかりでした。
特に中国の方が多かったです。

待合所にてバス内でサインをした注意事項を提出、
この時チケットとポストカードとクジラブック(こちらは1グループに1冊)を貰いました。
待合所にはトイレ、喫煙所もあります。
船内にも両方あるものの、こちらで済ませておいた方が良さそうです。

参加者確認の際にもらったチケットの色で
乗る船が分かれるようで、私は緑色で写真の船でした。
船に最大乗船人数が70と書いてありましたが、載っていたの大体30〜40人くらいだったと思います。
乗船時ライフジャケットの配布があり、
羽織って紐で結ぶタイプのものだったので、着用は簡単でした。
ところが、ライフジャケットにかなりの保温効果があり、暑かったのでダウンジャケットを着ていたのですが脱いで、再ライフジャケット装着しました。
最後まで特に寒くは無かったです。
船内1階の至る所にピンク色のビニール袋が下げてあり、
酔ってしまった方にすぐ対応出来るようになってました。

ある程度沖に出ないと2階に上がるのは危ないそうで
船内脇の段差に1階に座り、いよいよ出航です。

港を出て10分程で2階が解放され、2階に上がる時にカッパを手渡してくれたのですが、
上がった先は荒波暴風で中々着られないどころか、
飛ばされないか不安でした…
その時スタッフの方が「こちらの方が揺れがマシですよ。」と低めの座席に誘導してくれましたが、
確かに揺れはマシなものの荒波暴風は変わらない為、
中途半端に着て諦めました。

その後、30分程上下左右に揺さぶられ系絶叫アトラクションです。
あまりの楽しさにずっと爆笑していました。
本当にかなり揺れるので推奨されている通り
滑りにくいスニーカーで行かないと
不本意なダイビングをする事になりそうです…

乗り物酔いしやすい方はもちろん、小型の船に乗った事がない方は2階には上がらず、こちらも推奨されている通り酔い止めを飲んでおいた方が安心です。

そして、船のスピードが緩まり…

見られた感想としては冒頭の記載通り、
船長がクジラの向かって行く方向に船を向けてくれるのでとても見つけやすかったです。

見ている時の状況は、やはり波が高いので揺れます。
2階で見ようとすると、前の方に操舵席があり、その後ろにロープが張ってあるので、それに捕まって見ることになるのですが、揺れや後ろの人の状況によってお腹にロープがめり込んで同乗していた友達は具合が悪くなっていました。

大体30分程クジラを眺め、ふと船がUターンして、何かな？と思ったら帰港でした（笑）
帰りもそれなりに揺れましたが行きより揺れがましな気がしました。

大体2時間ほどで港に戻り、
その後飛行機に乗る予定だったので、送迎は使わず
バスに預けていた荷物を引取り、
待合所に看板のあるタクシーを呼んで
那覇空港に向かいました。

そこそこ濡れてしまうので、髪がパキパキになります。
ツアー参加後はシャワーを浴びる時間を作った方が良さそうです。

今回見られたのは、悠々泳ぐ姿のみなので
派手さはありませんでしたが、これからのシーズンオスのクジラに会えたりするとまた違うのかもしれません。

私は船が楽しかったので、クジラに会えるかは期待し過ぎず、アトラクション目的でまた参加させて頂きたいと思います。

I used this service again, just like last time. This time, we were on a slightly larger boat, and the second floor had an open space, which felt really nice with the breeze!

Before heading out to sea, we received explanations about whale watching, which led to many discoveries!

Since I was able to see whales during the same period last time, I think there's a pretty good chance of spotting them again (^^).

When the boat is moving fast, it's fine, but when searching for whales, it might be tough for those who are prone to seasickness... You can buy motion sickness medication (in drink form) at the reception, so it might be a good idea to take some!

This time, I felt like we were able to see whales quite frequentlyヽ(*´∀｀)ノ

I've loved whales since I was young, and I wanted to see one up close at least once in my life, so I participated in this tour. Since they are wild animals, I listened to the guide's explanation that encountering them depends on luck, which made me nervous, but fortunately, we encountered a mother and her calf. I've seen footage on TV, but seeing them in person was incredibly moving. The kids were also thrilled! I participated in a tour on December 26. The weather was supposed to be good and I was told I wouldn't get wet, but while sitting outside on the boat, I ended up completely soaked. Unfortunately, we spent three hours on the boat without seeing anything and had to return. I was continuously vomiting due to seasickness. I understand it's nature, but it turned into a very sad memory for me.

12月26日にツアーに参加しました。天候も良く濡れることは無いとのことでしたが、船の外に座っていたところびしょ濡れになりました。我々は運が悪く3時間船に乗ったまま何も見えずに戻ってきました。わたしは船酔いでずっと吐き続けていました。自然相手のことなのでしょうがないのですが、とても悲しい思い出となりました、(;´д｀)トホホ。。

On December 26th, I experienced this with my elderly mother, starting at 9 AM.

The day before, I received a call while I was still on the plane regarding the pickup, but since there were no messages, I felt anxious. In the end, I called them at night. All other communications were via email, so I thought it would be better to receive important information through email.

The pickup from the Regency Hotel was at 8:05 AM, and we were the first ones. As people from various Asian countries boarded, it felt like we were traveling abroad, filled with a sense of exoticism.

Before boarding, we signed in at a small hut and received a photo of a whale as a special gift along with a simple pair of binoculars. We were fine, but there were others who hadn’t received theirs after boarding, and they were told they would be given them after confirming once we got off, so I recommend being proactive and collecting them before boarding.

The boat had two types of seating: one in the dark bow and another with large windows at the back. The back was filled with foreigners, leaving some Japanese families and a few foreigners seated in the bow where they couldn’t see outside. Since the view was blocked unless you stood up and the engine noise was very loud, many people ended up falling asleep.

Once we set sail, the boat started to sway, and about 15 minutes in, some people in the bow began to feel nauseous. It seems everyone took motion sickness medication before boarding, so those who are unsure should be prepared. Also, those prone to seasickness might find it easier to manage if they can see outside.

After a little over an hour, we could see the Kerama Islands, which was the spot, and the engine stopped, causing the swaying to worsen.

リージェンシーホテルのピックアップは８時５分で一番乗りでした。次々とアジア圏の方が乗り込み異国情緒漂い海外に観光したような気分でした。

乗船前に小屋の中で署名をしたり特典のクジラの写真と簡易双眼鏡をいただきました。
私達は大丈夫でしたが乗船してからもらってない方がいらして、降りたあとに確認してから渡すと言われていたので、乗る前に自分たちで積極的に受けとるのがお勧めです。

船は前方の暗い船底？と後方の広い窓の２タイプの座席があり、後方は全て外国の方で埋まってしまい船底の外が見えない席に一部の外国の方と日本人の何家族が座りました。景色が立ち上がらないと見えないのとエンジン音がすごく大きく話も出来ないので皆さん寝てしまう方が多かったです。

出航すると15分位から船底タイプの座席から吐く方が出るほど船は揺れました。皆さん乗船前に酔い止め薬はのんでいたそうなので自信がない方は覚悟が必用です。
また酔う可能性のある方は外が見える方が酔いにくいかと思います。

一時間少し乗ったところで慶良間諸島が見え、こちらがスポットだそうで、エンジンが止まり揺れがひどくなりました。

濡れたりしないようウインドブレイカー等の着用が薦められていますが、それと救命胴衣の着用でかなりうだるような暑さで、皆さん汗だくでした。
しかも船内は暗く風が通らないので、今まで大丈夫だった方まで具合が悪くなりました。

慌てて皆さん着ていたアウターを脱ぎました。私もデッキに出るときに着直そうと薄いダウンを脱ぎました。

ここでクジラが出現してくれたら皆さん気分が変わって良かったのだと思いますが、自然相手はそううまくはいきません。

20分ほど停泊しましたがクジラは現れず吐く方が沢山いました。
見晴らしの良い後方からもさすがに具合が悪くなる方が出ました。

ただし、変な話で恐縮ですが、皆さん量はあまりもどさないのか殆ど臭いがしなかったのでつられて具合が悪くなるようなことはありません。
用意されたエチケット袋も二重で枚数も沢山準備がありその点は安心できます。心配な方は口をすすぐお水は持参された方が良いです。

また酔いがひどい方は最後尾の風が当たる場所にスタッフさんに連れられていき景色も見え少しは楽なように見えました。
この日は10人くらい最後尾でお世話になっていました。

やむなく場所を移動してクジラの出現を待ちましたが水中マイクでも声もせず諦めて戻ることになりました。

港に戻りグループの代表に１枚ずつ乗船券を渡されました。一人１枚ずつはいただけなかったのですが万が一再チャレンジは一人だけなのでしょうか？それとも全員可能なのでしょうか？
記載がないので少し心配です。

1月中旬でないと見られる確率が低いと聞いてはいましたがその通りでした。

本当の良さは味わえないままのホエールウォッチングツァーになり残念でした。

I traveled to Okinawa with two friends in March for a two-night, three-day trip. Unfortunately, we weren't able to see much of the beautiful ocean due to the weather. However, on the last day, which was our whale watching day, the weather was perfect. The guide was very friendly and made the experience enjoyable.

At first, I was worried that we wouldn't see any whales, but we were able to see them clearly. It was also memorable to see a mother and baby whale together.

There were many people on the boat, including not only Japanese tourists but also a lot of foreign tourists, such as those from China. Since it had been rainy for several days, the waves were a bit high, and it seemed that more than half of the foreign tourists were seasick. However, our group had no issues. I tend to get motion sickness easily, so I took some medication beforehand, which helped. I recommend that anyone who is worried about seasickness take some medication as well.

Overall, it was a satisfying tour with good weather and no seasickness.

3月に友人と３人で利用しました。２泊３日の沖縄旅行でしたが、天候に恵まれずあまり綺麗な海を見れていませんでした。最終日のホエールウォッチングの日だけとてもよく晴れました。ガイドのお兄さんも、とってもフレンドリーで楽しかったです。
最初は、クジラが見れなかったどうしようと思っていましたが、しっかりと見ることができました。また、親子のクジラを見ることができたのも印象深かったです。
船には多くの人が乗っていて、日本人だけでなく中国人観光客など外国人が多かったです。雨の日が続いていたこともあり、若干波が高かったこともあり外国人の観光客の方の半分以上が船酔いしていたようでしたが、私たちグループは問題ありませんでした。もともと、酔いやすいタイプなので事前に酔い止めを飲んで防げたので、心配な方は酔い止めを服用するといいと思います。
船酔いすることもなく、いい天気で楽しいツアーだったので満足です。

I found myself wanting to get closer, see it bigger, and for longer, but I was satisfied to see its back swimming multiple times and to witness it spouting water. Encountered a mother and baby whale. The captain can tell how fast they dive underwater! The boat runs parallel to the whale, and when it dives and comes up again, it often appears very close to the boat. Of course, being a professional, that's to be expected, but I was thrilled to spend quite a long time with the mother and baby whale, sometimes as close as 20 to 30 meters from the boat.

The catamaran was sturdy against the waves, but it rocked quite a bit until we got closer to the Kerama Islands. According to my partner, nearly half of the passengers were using bags for motion sickness. The only ones left on the upper deck, cheering, were middle-aged men. I was able to see wild whales for the first time. I could clearly see it! The sight of a whale! We started from Chatan Port on a cruiser with about 25 people, and the boat was going quite fast. There were already about eight other whale-watching boats around. After about 20 minutes, a whale appeared near the boat, breathing and diving, and we saw its tail right in front of us. I was very busy taking photos and videos. (laughs) It was an incredibly fun experience.

The young and lively staff members were on board, and the staff who accompanied us on the boat were desperately searching for whales. It seemed like we might have seen a tail or a spout... something like that. However, just experiencing the sea and wind of Okinawa made it worth participating.

On the day we boarded, the sea was quite rough, and many people were exhausted on the way back. Since we participated in January, the wind was cold, so I think long sleeves are a must during this time. But that's nature, so it's something we have to accept. I hope we can see more clearly next time.

若くてイキイキしたお兄さんたちがスタッフで、船に同乗してくださったスタッフの方は必死にクジラを探してくださっていましたが、シッポ？が見えたような…潮吹き？が見えたような…そんな感じでした。でも沖縄の海や風を体感できるだけでも参加する価値はありました。
私たちが乗船した日は、とにかく海が荒れてて帰りはグッタリな方々も多かったです。

Previously, I participated in tours around Kerama, but this time I stayed in Onna Village and traveled with children, so I joined this tour departing from Chatan. It was a great decision. After boarding, we spotted a whale in just about 15 minutes! The staff mentioned it was the shortest time they've experienced (laughs). Although we didn't see any jumps this time, we were able to watch the whales slowly, and I was very satisfied. The boat didn't sway too much, but it seemed like there were quite a few people feeling unwell (￣0￣;). I recommend taking motion sickness medication early before participating.

今までは、ケラマの方のツアーでしたが、今回は恩納村に宿泊していたのと子連れの旅だったので、北谷発のこちらのツアーへ参加しました。
大正解です。乗船してから、わずか15分くらい？でクジラを発見！スタッフの方も今まで最短と(笑)今回も、ジャンプは見れませんでしたが、ゆっくりクジラを見ることが出来ました、大満足です。
あんまり、揺れなかったのですが、意外と具合の悪い人が多かったような(￣0￣;)酔い止めは早目に飲んでの参加をお薦めします。

I was told by a friend who loves Okinawa that when the sea is rough, the chances of encountering whales increase because they are active in the water. That was exactly the case; there were huge waves about 3 meters high, and we were able to see a mother and calf whale.

However, many people were vomiting. Those who are prone to seasickness might want to think twice about going.

海が荒れているときはクジラが海の中で運動しているから遭遇率は上がるって沖縄好きの友人に言われました。
まさにその通り、３ｍくらいの大波ですごい揺れでしたが母子クジラが見れました。

ただ人間は嘔吐多数でした。

This was my first experience with whale watching. The day before, I received kind and detailed instructions about the meeting place over the phone, which made everything go smoothly.

Just to be safe, I took anti-nausea and motion sickness medication, and I was fully prepared for departure! The guide shared four methods to avoid getting seasick: 1) Look at distant, stationary objects like islands. 2) Don't yawn. 3) Talk a lot. 4) Sleep.

After practicing these tips, we arrived near the Kerama Islands in about an hour. Suddenly, the guide shouted loudly that a whale had been spotted, and there was applause and cheers. We chased after a solitary humpback whale, catching glimpses of its tail a few times, and even saw it jump at the end. However, it was a bit disappointing that everything was at a distance and lacked the thrill I had hoped for.

According to the guide, the weather was nice and the waves were calm today, yet nearly 20% of the participants still got seasick. I think those who are unsure should carefully consider whether to participate. I also got sunburned, and the marks from my watch were quite noticeable. Don't forget your sunscreen!

Despite that, I had a very enjoyable time. Thank you!

ホエールウォッチング初挑戦。前日に電話で親切、丁寧に集合場所を教えて頂いて、スムーズに行くことができました。
念のため、吐き気止め、酔い止めを服用し、準備万端、いざ出航！
ガイドさんから、酔わないための4つの方法がありました。①島などの遠くの動かないものを見る。②あくびをしない。③よくしゃべる。④寝る。
これらを実践しながら1時間ほどで慶良間諸島付近に到着。
しばらくすると突然ガイドさんが、大きな声でクジラ発見‼︎と吠え、拍手喝采。単独のザトウクジラを追いかけて、数回、尾を見て、最後にジャンプまで。しかしながら、どれも距離が遠く、迫力に欠けたのが残念でした。
ガイドさんいわく、今日は天気も良く、波も穏やか、と言いつつも、2割近くの方が酔っていました。自信のない方は、よく考えて参加を決めた方が良いと思います。日焼けもし、時計の痕がくっきり。日焼け止めも忘れずに！
それでも、とても楽しい時間を過ごすことができました。ありがとうございました。

How lucky to have your first experience be a jump! While you mentioned that it lacked impact, I think that distance might actually be good for the whales. Since they are wild animals, getting too close can cause them stress.

In order to continue whale watching in the future, we need to maintain a good relationship with them as well (^ - ^;).

Of course, there are days when the whales come incredibly close to the boat, which feels miraculous. So please do come back to Okinawa to see the whales again!

I took motion sickness medication 30 minutes before, but I ended up feeling quite seasick. Other boats gathered at the spot, and we were able to observe wild whales. I was able to see the whales' blows and dorsal fins, which made it worth participating. However, I noticed that several Korean women were extremely seasick and probably couldn't observe the whales at all.

３０分前に酔い止めを飲んでおいたのですが、かなり酔いました。
ポイントには他船も集まり、自然のクジラを観察することができました。
クジラのブロウと背ヒレを見ることができ、参加した甲斐がありました。
