In the morning, we went kayaking to Pinai Sara Falls and trekking in the forest, and in the afternoon, we did snorkeling at Barasu Island.
First, we moved from the meeting point to the tour company, packed only the necessary items into a mini backpack, and set off.
The forest leading to the falls had many muddy areas and puddles, so we walked in water shoes provided by the company.
We reached the falls by kayaking and trekking, and our guide shared information about the island and plants, making the journey enjoyable throughout.
Upon arriving at the falls, those who wanted to could swim in the plunge pool and jump into it. Looking up from the plunge pool, the view of Pinai Sara Falls was breathtaking. The lunch of rice balls and fried chicken enjoyed in the great outdoors was also delicious.
In the afternoon, we went snorkeling at Barasu Island. Since there were no beginners in snorkeling, there were no special instructions, and we could swim freely around the boat at each point. (Barasu Island landing + turtle point, table coral point)
We were able to see several sea turtles up close, and at the table coral point, we spotted colorful fish, including the palette surgeonfish.
We thoroughly enjoyed the sea and mountains of Iriomote Island in one day!

滝までは、カヤックとトレッキングで向かい、ガイドさんに島のことや植物のことなど、教えてもらいながら終始楽しく移動できました。
滝まで到着すると、希望者は、滝つぼで少し泳ぎ、滝つぼへのジャンプもしました。
滝つぼから上を見上げて見える、ピナイサーラの滝は迫力満点でした。
大自然の中で食べるお昼のおにぎりと唐揚げも美味しかったです。
午後はバラス島シュノーケリングでした。
シュノーケリングは初めての方もいなかったので、特に説明等はなく、各ポイントにつくと自由に船の周辺で泳ぐような形式でした。

ウミガメについてはものすごく近くで数匹見ることができ、テーブルサンゴのポイントでは、カラフルな魚たち、ナンヨウハギも見ることができました。

There were two guides. The veteran followed the newcomer, which made us feel at ease. They were well aware of the highlights and also pointed out great spots for photos. Along the way, they explained some rare creatures and plants. The lunch they prepared at Pinai Sara Falls was delicious 🤤 It was the best. On Balas Island, the conversations between the owner and the newcomer, as well as between the old turtle and the newcomer, were enjoyable and very healing. Balas Island 🏝️ was truly full of coral. The weather was perfect, and I had a fulfilling experience with morning canoeing and trekking, followed by an afternoon visit to Yufu Island. The canoeing and trekking had just the right level of difficulty and duration, and reaching the waterfall gave a sense of accomplishment. We were taken to various spots where we could see sea turtles, beautiful coral, and plenty of fish. We had ample time to dive at each location, making for a very fulfilling snorkeling experience. Due to the tides, Barasu Island was more visible in the afternoon than in the morning, so we were able to stop by again on our way back, allowing us to enjoy it twice.
The captain was very friendly and made the trip enjoyable. He also provided delicious lunch boxes, tea, and brown sugar. The staff kindly called us the night before to inform us that the Ishigaki-Uehara port was canceled, advising us to take the ferry to Ohara port instead, which was excellent service. We were also able to use the shower at our accommodation, which was equipped with shampoo and conditioner, making it very convenient.
I definitely plan to recommend this to my friends.
海亀が見られるスポット、サンゴが綺麗なスポット、魚がたくさんいるスポット…色んな所に船を回してくださり、それぞれ潜る時間もしっかりあったので、とても充実したシュノーケルを楽しむことができました。バラス島は潮の満ち引きの関係で午前よりも午後の方が浮き出てきたので、帰路にも寄ってくださって、二度楽しめました。
また、船長さんがとても気さくな方で楽しく、お昼も美味しいお弁当やお茶、黒糖など用意してくださっていました。前日の夜には、石垣ー上原港が欠航したため当日は大原港行きに乗るようスタッフの方からご丁寧に電話も頂き、サービスも最高でした。宿のシャワーをお借りすることもでき、シャンプー・リンスなども完備されていたのでとても有り難かったです。
ぜひ友人にも勧めようと思います。

I participated in snorkeling at Barasu Island and sightseeing at Yufu Island. Although I joined alone, I was well taken care of by the guide Shotaro and the other participants, and I had a wonderful time, feeling very grateful. The coral reefs at Barasu Island were truly amazing and left me in awe. In the afternoon, I enjoyed a relaxing tour of Yufu Island, where I was taken around by the water buffalo Yuka and Kotaro. On the day of the tour, we were lucky to have great weather, and the sea was calm with high visibility. There were corals of various shapes and colors, a variety of fish, sea snakes, and even sea turtles. Unfortunately, due to the tides, Barasu Island remained a mirage. (laughs)

I participated in a morning canoeing session and an afternoon tour of Yufu Island, and it was filled with unique experiences that became wonderful memories!
After arriving at Iriomote Island, we quickly boarded a bus for a 15-20 minute ride to the area near Urauchi Bridge. We put on life jackets and received paddle instructions in the parking lot. My child was given a smaller paddle. It had been about 15 years since I last canoed, so I was a bit anxious, but since the shallow areas allowed the paddle to reach the ground, I felt reassured. My child wasn't sure what to expect, but they were able to sit in the front or middle, and there was no sign of them falling overboard. However, they seemed to dislike the water dripping from my paddle when it was raised, crying loudly and continuously saying, "I want to go home!" (laughs). I think it would be a lot of fun for children who enjoy water.
We were taken to a tunnel-like area thick with mangroves, and although we occasionally bumped into the mangroves, it was enjoyable, and we could paddle while taking in the scenery. On the way back, we were told that we could actually get off the canoe in the river, and those who wanted to got off right there and approached the mangroves (it was only knee-deep, so there was no fear at all). It was a truly valuable experience, and I had a lot of fun.
While my child was crying the whole time, another participant's mother kindly said, "This child used to cry all the time too," and seeing a boy who wasn't crying at all made me feel that he had grown up strong. I thought that one day, we would look back and laugh about times like this. Although we were only together for that moment, I felt that there was a sense of unity that comes with being part of a tour, which is one of its charms.

午前カヌー午後由布島観光に参加しましたが、ここでしか出来ない体験だらけで大変良い思い出になりました！
西表島に到着後バスにすぐ乗り、15-20分バスで浦内橋付近まで。
ライフジャケットを着て駐車場でパドルの説明を受けます。子どもには小さいパドルをいただきました。
カヌーは約15年ぶり2回目で不安でしたが浅瀬で何かあればパドルが地面に届くので安心でした。子どもはどうなるのかイメージが湧いておりませんでしたが、前か真ん中に座ることが出来、落ちそうな気配もありませんでした。ただ、親のパドルが上になったときにポタポタ落ちる水が嫌だったような大泣き。終始「家に帰りたい〜」と叫んでいました笑 水が好きなお子さんでしたらとても楽しいと思います。
マングローブがたくさん生い茂るトンネルのようなところまで連れていってもらい、たまにマングローブにぶつかることもありましたがそれはそれで楽しく、景色を楽しみながら漕ぐことができました。
帰り道では実際に川の中でカヌーから降りてもいいですよと言ってもらい、降りたい人はその場で降りてマングローブに近づいていました（膝程度なので全く怖さはありませんでした） とっても貴重な体験ができ本当に楽しかったです。
子どもが終始号泣していると、他のツアー参加者のお母様が「この子もいつも泣いてたのよー」と声をかけてくださり、全く泣いてない男の子を見て、成長した姿がたくましく見え、いつかこんな時もあったと笑えるんだろうなと感じました。その時だけの方々でしたが、ツアーだとなんとなく一体感が生まれるのが醍醐味だなと感じました。
水牛車も由布島も大変楽しめました！

From the top of Pinai Sara Falls, I saw the clear blue sky with crowned eagles soaring, and beyond the rugged jungle forest and hills, the blue sea of the coral reef sparkled. It was the best view I have ever seen, and I will never forget it.

I participated in a tour of Yubu Island and a mangrove canoe tour. Unfortunately, we couldn't go to Barasu Island due to the weather.
Yubu Island has cute water buffalo and beautiful nature, and I really enjoyed it. There were also animals and birds along the way to Yubu Island, which was a lot of fun.
It was my first time kayaking in the mangroves, and I had a great time. I've often seen photos of mangrove tunnels, but the mangroves we visited were quite small, so I hope to see larger ones next time.
Before going on the canoe tour, we were told that the guide would take photos with a GoPro, so we didn't need to bring our smartphones. However, our guide used something like a digital camera instead. All the photos had a foggy appearance in the middle. I thought it might be mist, but since the same area was white, I believe it was due to lens fogging. I wanted to capture great memories in photos, but they didn't turn out well, which is disappointing. I wish they had used a GoPro instead. I wonder if it varies by guide.
