While kayaking on the Urauchi River and observing the stars, the bioluminescent plankton glowed every time we paddled, allowing us to enjoy both the sky and the water. We also ventured a little into the mangrove forest. The guide provided various explanations along the way, making the experience even more interesting and enjoyable. I am grateful for the beautiful starry sky, the absence of unnecessary lights at night, and the opportunity to fully enjoy the nature of Iriomote through this wonderful tour.

By the way, since I stayed at Nirakanai, I walked to the location, which took about an hour and a half. I brought a flashlight, but they are available for rent. The kayaking was on calm waters, so I hardly got wet. When getting into the kayak, you walk in the water up to your ankles, so it's best to wear something that can get wet (though they inform you about this in advance…).

前夜に予約していたのですが、天候がいまいちだったので、翌日に変更していただきました。そのおかげで、ガイドの岩本さんも今夜は綺麗に見えますよを繰り返されるほど、綺麗な夜空でした。浦内川をカヤックを漕ぎながらの星空観察で、水面には夜光虫がパドルを漕ぐたびに発光するので、上下と楽しめました。また、マングローブ林にも少しだけ入って行きました。適宜、色々な説明を加えてくださるので、さらに興味深く楽しむことが出来ました。綺麗な星空、無駄な光の無い夜、西表の自然を満喫でき、よいツアーに参加できたことに感謝します。
ちなみにニラカナイに宿泊だったため、移動は徒歩、所要時間1時間半くらい。ライトを持参しましたが、借りられます。穏やかな水面でのカヤックなので、ほぼ水には濡れません。カヤックに乗り込む際に足首くらいまで水中を歩くため足元は濡れてもよい格好がベストです。(事前に教えてくれますが…)
