Since it was the off-season, we were the only group on the tour. Although we were worried about the weather, it started to clear up around the time the tour began. We had a great time with our guide, Eri, who taught us many things. We learned a lot about the plants, the island, and the animals, making it a very enjoyable experience! We also took many photos, creating wonderful memories! Thank you very much!

I participated with my children (who are now adults). The tour to Piñal Sara Falls was what I was looking forward to the most on this trip. I was worried whether it would be held since it had been raining for several days, but even though the weather wasn't great, we were able to go. When we got to the base of the waterfall, the rain and the spray from the falls were intense, but we were able to take pictures on the big rock that I had seen on Instagram. The guide was also very kind. It was a wonderful experience, and I definitely want to participate again on a nice day.

Due to the cancellation at Uehara Port, I entered Iriomote Island from Ohara Port, and they explained the transportation methods over the phone in advance. Kayaking while explaining about the plants and creatures, as well as trekking through the jungle, was enjoyable.
After the tour, there was a place to change and take a shower. I was also happy that they took several photos during the tour and sent them to me right away. On the way back, instead of being dropped off at the hotel, I was taken to Hoshizuna Beach, which I was able to enjoy as well.
The guide was very kind and interacted well with my children, making my 7 and 9-year-olds feel safe and have fun. When I mentioned that our plans for the next day were canceled due to the approaching typhoon, they recommended ways to spend our time. The wild boar yukhoe I had at the restaurant they suggested for the next evening was very delicious!
Thanks to them, it was a very enjoyable trip. If I have the opportunity to come back to Iriomote Island, I would like to ask for their services again. Thank you!
上原港欠航のために大原港から西表島に入りましたが、移動方法についても事前に電話で説明してくださいました。植物や生き物についての説明をしていただきながらのカヤック、ジャングルのトレッキングも楽しかったです。
ツアー後は着替えやシャワーができる場所がありました。
ツアー中に何度か写真を撮ってくださって、すぐに送っていただけたことも嬉しかったです。
帰りはホテルではなく星砂の浜に送っていただけたので、そちらも楽しむことができました。
ガイドさんはとても優しい方で、子供にも上手に声をかけていただき、7歳と9歳の子供も安心して楽しく過ごせました。台風接近の影響で翌日の予定がなくなり困っていることを伝えると、おすすめの過ごし方を教えてくださいました。翌日の夜に教えていただいたお店で食べたイノシシのユッケはとても美味しかったです！
おかげさまでとても楽しい旅行となりました。

The roots of the majestic trees were sprawling, making the footing quite challenging, but thanks to our guide's entertaining stories and explanations about the plants, we managed to reach the Piñal Sara Falls. Diving into the plunge pool with the 55-meter waterfall in the background was thrilling and felt amazing. Our family thoroughly enjoyed the half-day tour. I highly recommend it! We participated with our 6-year-old child and two family members. The canoeing in the mangroves, followed by trekking, and finally playing in the waterfall, were all amazing experiences that allowed us to fully enjoy the great nature of Iriomote Island. The guide provided thorough explanations, which made me feel comfortable participating. I think I’ve learned enough about mangroves to explain a little to others. Even though the rain forecast was 90%, it only rained for a few minutes and quickly cleared up, so it wasn’t hot even in the summer. I realized that weather forecasts aren’t very reliable.
The trekking was a good workout for both someone in their 40s who is out of shape and a fifth grader, and we had no troubles at all. The senior couple with us were also fit, and we were able to enjoy the experience together.
The lunch we had at Pinai Sara was delicious! The waterfall was magnificent, and the water level was as expected from the rain forecast the day before. After returning from the monsoon, we were relaxed by the horses and the owner. Even a half-day was enough to thoroughly enjoy the experience!

Our tour had two guides for three participants, including myself, and I quickly got the hang of kayaking for the first time. I paddled my own kayak up the Hinai River, which is lined with mangroves, and trekked through the jungle to reach the Pinai Sara Falls, completing a round trip that lasted four hours. This experience allowed me to truly feel the essence of Iriomote Island, where over 90% of the area is jungle.
By the way, to protect the natural environment of Iriomote Island, the number of tourists allowed to enter the protected area during kayak tours is limited to 200 per day. During Golden Week, we almost reached that limit with 200 tourists (this company had two guides for 14 people), but today there were only about 60 people in total across all companies, which is 30% of the capacity. The high-speed ferry was also not crowded, so it was a good decision to visit after Golden Week.
With this, I was able to make up for the trip I couldn't take to Iriomote Island last October due to a typhoon. Next time, I plan to stay on Iriomote Island and try snorkeling and stargazing as well.

ちなみに西表島の自然保護のために、カヤックツアーで保護地区に入場できる観光客数を200人／日に制限している中、GW中はほぼ200人に達する観光客（この会社は２人で14人をガイド）だったのに対し、今日は全社合計で僅か60人と定員の30％だったそうです。往復の高速船も空いていたし、GWの後にして正解でした。
これで、昨年10月末に台風の影響で西表島に行けなかったリベンジを果たせました。
次回は西表島に宿泊して、シュノーケリングや星空の観測もしてみようと思います。

I was a bit anxious about whether I would be able to handle the experience due to my age, so I signed up for this. Our guide, Eli, was very kind and taught us a lot. It was a half-day tour, but I was very satisfied to experience the wonderful nature of Iriomote Island. If I had more time, I would have liked to spend a full day there. We participated as a family of three. My child, who was canoeing for the first time, wanted to go solo and struggled a bit on the way there, but our guide, Eli, provided attentive encouragement. Thanks to that, on the way back, my child got the hang of it and seemed to really enjoy paddling the canoe.
When making the reservation, I was really torn about whether to add trekking since it was hot, but I decided to join because I thought it would be a unique experience. I'm not particularly fond of climbing mountains, but as I walked while listening to explanations about the rare plants and creatures, I naturally kept moving forward. When we finally reached the waterfall basin, it was refreshingly cool and felt amazing! It was the best moment.
Floating in the basin while gazing dreamily at the waterfall and the blue sky was truly soothing. After soaking in the water for a while, the rice balls we received were delicious. I'm really glad I participated in the tour.
Also, the location of the tour company had a fantastic view. I think it's worth seeing at least once.

Thank you for taking me, a 68-year-old, on the tour to Pinai Sara Falls, which mostly caters to those around 60 years old. I had a great time swimming and jumping in the waterfall basin. It was a tour that left both my husband and me completely satisfied. The main guide, I, had exceptional knowledge, explanations, and consideration (the assistant, Y, also did a great job).
We participated with another couple (who were beginners at canoeing) and my husband (who had one previous canoe experience), and thanks to I's guidance and entertaining stories, we enjoyed the round trip of 40 minutes each way at a perfect pace.
The trekking to the waterfall was safe due to the provided water shoes and timely reminders, and the explanations about the jungle were very informative.
The lunch of rice balls and fried chicken was truly delicious. The rice balls were made with local rice and were extra large, but I ended up eating two of them without hesitation.
The other couple seemed to join the snorkeling afterward (since it was a full-day course), but for us, who were tired in the latter part of our trip (in our 50s and 60s), the half-day course was just right (laughs).
Lastly, the owner who drove us back to our accommodation (a charming older gentleman) was enjoyable to talk to. Thank you very much to everyone at Iriomote Monsoon!
P.S. During canoeing, the UV rays are strong and you get thirsty, so hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc., are essential, along with one bottle of water per person. If you want to soak in the waterfall pool, wear a swimsuit underneath. As for cameras, you can take photos with your phone (they provide waterproof bags for carrying), but the guide will also take pictures with their camera and provide the data for free later.

他１組のご夫婦（カヌー初心者）と私と夫（カヌー体験1回）の4人で参加しましたが、Iさんのご指導と楽しいお話のおかげで、往復各４０分を楽しく、また丁度いいペースで進めました。
滝までのトレッキングも沢シューズを貸してもらっていたことと、タイミング良い注意喚起などで、安全に行え、ジャングルの説明も非常に勉強になりました。
お昼のおにぎりと唐揚げも本当に美味しかったです。おにぎりはご当地のお米だそうで、特大だったのですが、2個ペロッと食べてしまいました。
もう１組のご夫婦は、（1日コースということで）その後のシュノーケリングも参加されたようですが、旅の後半で疲労が溜まっていた私達夫婦（50代と60代）には、半日コースが丁度良かったです（笑）。
最後に宿まで送ってくれたオーナーさん（イケオジです）の話も楽しかったです。西表モンスーン社の方々、本当にどうもありがとうございました！
追伸：（カヌー中は）紫外線が強く喉が乾くので、帽子やサングラス、日焼け止め等は必須、それに一人１本のボトルウォーター。滝つぼに浸かりたい人は、中に水着を着ていきましょう。カメラについては、携帯（防水バッグを貸してくれるので持ち運びできる）で写真を撮ることも可能ですが、ガイドさんが自分のカメラで撮ってくれて、後で無償でデータをくれます。

However, the guide was attentive to our pace, and we enjoyed a comfortable jungle trekking experience without overexerting ourselves.

In October, it was a bit hot wearing long sleeves and long pants, but it was perfect for sun protection, insect repellent, and injury prevention. Additionally, the half-day course was just right for my children and me, who are not very active. Above all, the Pinai Sara Falls were breathtaking. There were times when the canoe didn't go in the direction I wanted, but the instructions were thorough, so I think beginners will feel at ease. The trekking was also adjusted to the children's pace, and we learned the names of plants and animals, which deepened our understanding of nature. It was a very fulfilling tour and became a wonderful memory. I participated alone, but while trekking with the guide, I learned about the guiding system of Iriomote Island and their efforts towards nature, which deepened my understanding of the island's environment. Of course, I also received explanations about the plants we encountered along the way, which was educational.
It was my first experience with canoeing, but I received a lecture beforehand, which made me feel secure in taking part. Canoeing in the great outdoors was amazing! I had heard that solo canoes are more likely to tip than tandem ones, so I was a bit nervous at first, but by the return trip, I felt much more relaxed and was able to enjoy the scenery while moving through nature.
The waterfall was more impressive than I had imagined and was absolutely fantastic! I felt so energized that it seemed to wash away all the fatigue from my work. It was a tour where even someone like me, who lives in the city and rarely has the chance to connect with nature and hasn't been exercising much, could enjoy kayaking and trekking! Since I stayed in Ishigaki Island instead of participating from Iriomote Island, I was looking for a tour that I could join locally. However, since I don't usually exercise much, I thought I might not have the stamina for a full-day tour, so I consulted with my family and decided to try a half-day tour.
For kayaking, we could choose between single and double kayaks, and this time I went with a double kayak with my family. Steering was challenging, but it felt stable. The staff kindly taught us how to paddle, and the guide was great, which made the experience very enjoyable. After about 30 minutes of kayaking, we headed towards the waterfall. We were provided with river shoes for trekking, so it was no problem to climb even in wet areas. I wore trekking shoes, but since my feet got wet from kayaking, I was able to borrow river shoes when preparing at the office, so there was no worry about my shoes.
When we arrived at the waterfall, we enjoyed the rice ball bento they prepared for us and jumped into the waterfall! My family said it felt amazing. If you bring a change of clothes from the start, I highly recommend jumping into the waterfall.
The staff took a lot of photos for us, so we have wonderful memories from the day. Next time, I want to try canoeing by myself.

漕ぎ方をスタッフの方が親切に教えてくれるし、ガイドもしてくれたのでとても良かったです。30分くらいカヤックして、到着したところから滝を目指します。最初に貸してくれる沢シューズでトレッキングするため、足元が濡れたところでも問題なく登れます。トレッキングシューズを履いていきましたが、カヤックで足元が濡れるため、事務所で準備するときに沢シューズを貸していただきましたので、靴の心配はありません。滝に着いたら、用意してくれたおにぎりのお弁当を頂いて、滝にドボン！すごく気持ちよいと家族が言ってました。最初から着替えを持ってきている人はぜひ滝に飛び込むとよいでしょう。
またたくさんスタッフの方が写真を撮ってくださいましたので、とてもよい思い出が残りました。今度は一人カヌーで体験したいです。
注意点とすれば、9月末の西表島の日差しは暑く、上も下も肌が隠れる格好がよいです。びっくりするぐらい暑すぎて、肌を露出していることに後悔しますので準備していってください。あと水分補給対策はしたほうがよいでしょう。

The tour guide did an excellent job guiding us. When my partner was struggling with how to paddle the canoe, the guide helped by pulling us along with a rope and made sure to communicate effectively, which was very helpful. Being over sixty, I found canoeing in the summer heat quite challenging, and the subsequent trekking involved some steep paths, so even the half-day course required a fair amount of stamina. However, the stunning views we reached were truly moving, and jumping into the cool waters of the waterfall felt exceptional after the heat. The guide also took many photos for us and pointed out great spots for Instagram, resulting in some wonderful pictures that I wanted to post. Additionally, the rice balls we had for lunch were made with local rice and were very tasty. This was my second time at Pinaisara, while it was my partner's first, and it turned out to be a wonderful memory. Although it was a bit tough on a hot day, I’m glad we participated.
