It was disappointing that we couldn't go snorkeling at Balas Island due to the rain and wind from the previous day, but I was able to enjoy the tour thanks to the flexible changes made to the itinerary! Our guide, Mr. Yabuue, had a bright and fun atmosphere, and it was a lot of fun walking together. I definitely want to visit Balas Island next time!

My first time on Iriomote Island, I had a lot of things I wanted to try, so I chose a packed itinerary with mangrove canoeing, trekking to Pinai Sara Falls, and cave exploration. It was my first time canoeing, but following the guide's advice made it easy. As we paddled down the empty river, we saw mangrove forests on both sides, and a relaxed atmosphere enveloped us. After the canoeing, we set off on a trek towards Pinai Sara Falls. There were steep paths, but the guide stopped at intervals to explain the trees in the forest, making the walk enjoyable. It seems you can even enter the waterfall pool, but we were completely satisfied just seeing it. In the afternoon, we explored the caves, and as we slowly moved through surprisingly narrow spaces, we were greeted by various shapes of stalactites inside. My husband was completely captivated by the caves and expressed a desire to visit more of them (laughs). 初めての西表島、やってみたいことがいろいろあってマングローブカヌー、ピナイサーラの滝トレッキング、洞窟探検という欲張りコースにしました。カヌーは初めてでしたがガイドさんのアドバイスどおりに漕ぐとスイスイと。誰もいない川をカヌーで進んでいくと左右にマングローブの森が見えゆったりとした時間が流れます。カヌーを降りて今度はピナイサーラの滝を目指してトレッキング。急な道もありますが、ガイドさんが適度に止まって森の樹木などの説明をしてくれるので、楽しんで歩く事ができました。滝つぼに入ることも出来るようですが、私たちは見るだけで大満足でした。午後からは洞窟探検、びっくりするような狭い場所からソロソロ進むと中は鍾乳石がいろいろな形を見せてくれます。主人はすっかり鍾乳洞に見せられて、あちこちの鍾乳洞巡りをしたいと言いだしました(笑)私はカヌーが想像以上に気持ち良かったので、次回もカヌー体験したいです。素晴らしい時間をありがとうございました。

Canoeing was my first experience, and it was so much fun that I think I'm hooked. The waterfall was very refreshing; even though it was January, it was warm, and there were people swimming in the pool beneath the falls. One person dropped their smartphone into the pool, but the instructor was able to retrieve it. Since it was waterproof, it wasn't damaged and was safe. The lunch was also very filling. Riding in a cow cart was a first for me as well, and I really enjoyed it; I'm glad I went. Next, I want to visit the Phantom Island.

It was my first time canoeing, but with the thorough explanations and guidance, even in a situation where I didn't know where I was going, I had a fun and great experience. The waterfalls and caves were wonderful, and the explanations along the way were clear, allowing me to truly connect with the nature of Iriomote Island. When I arrived at Uehara Port by ferry, the person who was supposed to pick me up was not there. After searching for about five laps, I confirmed by phone and was told, "I'll be there soon." I was taken aback, thinking, "Wait, they haven't arrived yet??"
First, I went to the shop to drop off my luggage and borrowed shoes that could get wet before heading to the cave. The entrance was extremely narrow, and there was water pooling at my feet, making it quite a struggle to crawl through. However, after that, I was surrounded by untouched nature! The limestone cave had several breaks where we walked outside in the sunlight and then back inside the cave. The guide occasionally provided explanations and took photos, and as we walked, they spoke to each of us, which gradually made the atmosphere more relaxed.
After about an hour of exploration, we returned to the shop for lunch with rice balls. After a break, we moved on to canoeing. Unfortunately, all the single-person canoes were already taken, so we headed to the waterfall in a two-person canoe. At first, we were unsteady, going this way and that. After getting off the canoe, we climbed for about 30 minutes to reach the waterfall basin. There, we were treated to brown sugar tea. After that, we retraced our steps down the mountain and paddled back in the canoe. By the return trip, I had gotten quite used to canoeing and was able to go mostly straight.
Throughout the morning and afternoon, my legs got quite wet. If you're concerned about that, it might be a good idea to bring a change of clothes.

まずショップへ行って荷物を置き、濡れてもいい靴を借りていざ洞窟へ。入口が極端に狭く足元は水が溜まっているので、中腰でくぐり抜けるのにひと苦労。しかし、その後は手つかずの自然が！鍾乳洞は何度か途切れ、日差しのある外を歩いたり、また洞窟内に入ったりの繰り返しでした。ガイドさんがちょこちょこ説明を挟みつつ写真を撮ってくれ、歩きながら個々に話しかけてくれるので、だんだん和んできます。
1時間ほどの探索が終わると一旦ショップへ戻り、おにぎりでランチ。休憩を挟んだあと、お次はカヌーへ。たまたま一人乗りのカヌーが先客で全て使われてしまっていたため、二人乗りカヌーで滝へ向かいました。最初は慣れずにあっちへ行ったりこっちへ行ったり。カヌーを降りると30分くらいかけて滝つぼへ登ります。こちらでは黒糖紅茶をふるまっていただきました。その後は同じルートをたどって下山し、カヌーを漕いで戻りました。帰路のカヌーは大分慣れて、おおむね真っすぐ進むことができました。
午前・午後通して脚がけっこう濡れます。気になる人は着替えを持参した方がいいかも。

- I participated on New Year's Day. Since we were a small team of 2 people in 3 groups, they provided solid support for those who were not good at canoeing. - I was worried that the canoeing time might be insufficient, but combined with trekking, the time allocation was just right in terms of physical exertion.

・元日の参加でした。2人×3組の少人数チームだったので、カヌーが苦手な人にもしっかりサポートしてくれました。夏休みシーズンはカヌー渋滞するらしいですが、今回はゆっくり景色を楽しみながらカヌーをこげました。
・カヌーの時間が物足りないかな？と心配してましたが、トレッキングと合わせても体力的にはちょうど良い時間配分でした。

I applied to fully enjoy the great nature of Iriomote Island, which is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site. I had planned to go up to the top of the Pinaisara Falls, but the weather was not very good during this time, so after arriving at the tour company on the day of the tour, I changed my participation to a half-day itinerary that only went to the base of the falls.
We rode kayaks and moved close to the falls while observing the mangroves. There are seven types of mangroves that can be seen in Japan, and I enjoyed paddling up the river while learning that all of them can be found on Iriomote Island. After getting off the kayak, we went trekking for about 30 to 40 minutes. Our guide introduced us to various subtropical plants as we made our way to the foot of the falls. I was moved by the power of the falls when we arrived. Iriomote Island is the only place in Japan where you can see such great nature. I really wanted to climb to the top of the falls to see the full view of the mangroves, but, well, I guess it can't be helped this time.
I suppose you can't take beautiful photos unless it's summer. It only drizzled a little, so the rain wasn't a big deal, but it was a windy day. Still, I'm glad I went to see the wonderful scenery.
世界自然遺産に登録された西表島の大自然を満喫したくて申込みました。ピナイサーラの滝の上まで行こうと思っていましたが、この時期大変お天気がよくなくて、当日催行会社に着いてから1日ツアーを滝の下までにする半日行程に変えて参加しました。
カヤックに乗りマングローブを観ながら滝の近くまで移動。日本で観られるマングローブは７種類あり、西表島ではその全てが観られる事など、楽しく川を登って行きました。カヤックを降りてからはトレッキング。30〜40分位でしょうか。色々な亜熱帯植物をガイドしてもらいながら滝の麓まで。着いた時にはその迫力に感動しました。日本でこのような大自然を観られるのは西表島だけでしょう。本当は滝の上まで登ってマングローブの全景を観たかったのですが、う〜ん、今回は仕方ないかな。
やっぱり夏場でないと綺麗な写真は撮れないかな。雨は小雨が少し降ったけで大した事なかったんだけど、風か強い1日でした。ただ素晴らしい景色に行って良かったと思います。

It was my first time canoeing, and quietly paddling through the mangroves was amazing! I was busy taking photos and paddling by myself, but the guide provided great support, allowing me to enjoy the experience.
The trekking was steeper than I expected, but the sense of accomplishment when I reached the top was significant. I also took the plunge into the waterfall, and I was very satisfied with that.
For lunch, we had rice balls, fried chicken, and boiled eggs, which were delicious. In the afternoon, we toured Yubu Island. I rode a water buffalo and explored the subtropical botanical garden on my own.
The butterfly garden, water buffalo pond, mangrove walkway, and Manta Beach were all places where I wished I could relax forever. The Yubu Island teahouse near Manta Beach had the best awamori gelato! I want to go back to Yubu Island just to eat that.
I enjoyed interacting with the water buffalo and watching them return to their barn from the pond. Most importantly, I was impressed by how much the caretakers loved and took care of the water buffalo. The guides were all very kind, and I was able to hear many interesting stories, making it a thoroughly satisfying tour!

1人で、写真を撮ったり、漕いだり、忙しかったけど、ガイドの方が、しっかりとフォローしてくださったので、楽しむことができました。
トレッキングは、思ったより急な山道でしたが、その分ついた時は感動も大きかったです。
思い切って、滝壺ダイブもやって、大満足でした。
お昼のお弁当はおにぎりと唐揚げ、ゆで卵、美味しかったです。
午後は、由布島観光。
水牛に乗って、亜熱帯植物園となっている島をひとりでまわりました。
素晴らしい蝶々園、水牛の池、マングローブの遊歩道、マンタの浜、どこも、いつまでものんびりと過ごしていたい場所でした。
特にマンタの浜近くにあった由布島茶屋は、泡盛ジェラート最高でした！これを食べにまた由布島行きたいくらい。
水牛に触らせてもらったり、池から水牛舎に戻った水牛たちを見せてもらったり、楽しかったです。
何より、水牛たちをお世話している方たちが、水牛の事を、ものすごく可愛がって、大事にしている様子に感心しました。
ガイドしてくださった方々、みなさんとても親切で、いろんな話を聞けて、大満足のツアーでした！

The weather forecast wasn't great, so I chose this plan. From the moment of pickup, the service was excellent, and the conversation flowed, making me excited even before we arrived at the location. We did canoeing and trekking to the waterfall in the morning, and although we had planned to eat rice balls at the waterfall, due to the rain, our guide quickly adapted and arranged for us to have our meal back at the shop. Thanks to that, we were able to enjoy a warm meal and take a break indoors while sipping tea.
In the afternoon, we explored a limestone cave. I couldn't help but exclaim, "Wait!? We're entering from here?" because it felt like a hidden gem (laughs). However, after going inside for a while, I was overwhelmed by the incredibly spacious area that opened up. It's a secret, but I also learned about stones that glow under black light.

The canoeing was just as I imagined, very relaxing and enjoyable. The trekking to the waterfall was very well done, with an easy and fun course. I wanted to go, so I made a reservation the evening before. Most tours confirm via text message or phone call, so I thought it would be the same this time, but I didn't receive any contact, which made me worried. When I checked my email for confirmation, I saw a message saying to contact them within an hour of the reservation confirmation. If I didn't, it would be a paid cancellation. I tried to reach out immediately after seeing the email, but I couldn't get through. When I finally did get in touch, I was yelled at in a very angry voice. I was able to participate in the tour, but it felt like I was being scolded throughout, and I couldn't enjoy it. It was the worst tour.

I was able to fully enjoy Iriomote Island with a tour packed with activities like kayaking, trekking, and exploring limestone caves. They provide shoes that are okay to get wet. Since trekking and the caves can be slippery and there are many plants, I think wearing clothes that cover both hands and feet is essential.
The waterfall was a bit chilly for swimming, so I didn't go in directly, but the water volume was impressive and very powerful. Along the way, I learned a lot about the plants, which was really interesting.
I participated from Iriomote Island, but if you're coming from Ishigaki Island, it might be a bit challenging to join as a day trip if the ferry to Uehara Port is not running (it takes about an hour by bus from Ohara Port to Uehara Port).
I think this tour is highly recommended for those who want to enjoy nature in a single day.

I made a reservation for this tour because there was a campaign on Veltra. It was my first time in Iriomote Island, and I wanted to experience something unique to the island. The guide was friendly and taught us a lot about Iriomote Island, which was very informative. I signed up for this tour because I really wanted to see the coral reef. I arrived by ferry, feeling excited, and a lovely young lady came to greet us. Once we started, she was surprisingly powerful, effortlessly carrying our lunch and large bags through the forest, which I really admired. I wanted to keep up and felt like I was in a movie as we ventured into the jungle. After passing through a thrilling mountain, we were greeted by a magnificent waterfall! It was my first time swimming in a waterfall basin, and it was amazing! We enjoyed delicious rice balls.
Next was the sea. The captain was really cool, and the underwater scenery was breathtaking, with stunning coral that was even more beautiful than I had imagined. Of course, the fish, including Nemo, and the sea turtles were adorable too. You really have to see it with your own eyes! It was a wonderful and perfect tour, and I definitely want to participate again. Thank you very much!

This was our first time on Iriomote Island, and it turned out to be the best tour! As a couple, we participated in canoeing, trekking, and snorkeling, and here are our impressions:
1. Canoeing
- Although the weather was somewhat cloudy and there was a bit of wind, our guide, Mr. Iwamoto, provided us with appropriate paddling instructions, allowing us to enjoy canoeing without getting too tired. I also remember that while we were paddling, he explained the types of mangroves and vegetation in a very detailed and careful manner, which was very interesting.
2. Trekking

In the morning, I participated in a canoeing and trekking tour, and in the afternoon, I joined a snorkeling tour. The Pinai Sara Falls had a lot of water at that time, making it very impressive. I was thrilled to encounter a sea turtle during snorkeling, which was a long-held dream of mine. You can swim alongside beautiful coral reefs and tropical fish! It was a course that allowed me to fully enjoy Iriomote Island. I truly had a valuable experience that felt like my world was expanding!
I had a guide at both the cave and Pisanara Falls, and both of them not only entertained us but also taught us many things with their extensive knowledge.
Next time I go to Iriomote Island, I will definitely ask Monsoon again.

I participated in a day trip from Ishigaki Island. I was picked up at the port and taken to a nearby shop to prepare for the kayaking tour. As a beginner in kayaking, I received thorough instructions and was able to enjoy the experience.
We paddled along a majestic river, taking breaks along the way to hear about the mangroves, which left me impressed by the strength and beauty of nature. We kayaked to the trekking point, and from there, we walked towards the Pinaisara Falls. Climbing and navigating rocky areas was a bit challenging for us, as we are not very active, but it was a lot of fun as we took photos at beautiful spots.
Our guide, Mr. Iwamoto, was very knowledgeable about the mountains and shared stories about various creatures and plants. When we arrived at Pinaisara Falls after walking the mountain path, I felt a great sense of accomplishment. The falls, with plenty of water from the previous day's rain, were truly magnificent, and I enjoyed the great outdoors while cooling off in the waterfall pool.
We returned the way we came, floating down the mangrove river, which showed a different face than on the way in, and went back to the shop to enjoy handmade Yaeyama soba. The gentle broth was soothing to our tired bodies. There is also a supermarket nearby where you can buy snacks and souvenirs. The pineapple ice cream on a stick that I bought here was very delicious.
After lunch, we headed to Barasu Island, where we picked up coral and took commemorative photos before heading to a nearby snorkeling spot. I was very moved to see beautiful coral reefs, colorful fish, and, if lucky, even a sea turtle. We were guided to spots with anemones where Nemo lives, large table corals, and beautiful coral areas, and time flew by. We also had underwater photos taken, creating wonderful memories of snorkeling.
It was a packed tour, so we didn't have much time to take photos ourselves, but Mr. Iwamoto used a 360-degree camera, a regular camera, and an underwater camera to take many pictures, allowing us to reminisce as we looked back at them.
Thank you for providing such a wonderful experience. I hope to participate again while my parents are still healthy.
石垣島から日帰りで参加しました。
港までお迎えに来ていただいて近くのお店へ、準備をしてさっそくカヤックツアーの開始です。
カヤック初心者でしたが、しっかりレクチャーをうけ楽しんで進むことが出来ました。
雄大な川を進み途中休憩をはさみながら、マングローブのお話を聞いて、自然の強さ素晴らしさに感銘を受けました。
カヤックでトレッキングのポイントまで進み、そこからは歩いてピナイサーラの滝を目指します。
途中手をついて登ったり、岩場をアップダウンしながら進むので普段運動不足の私たちにはちょっぴりハードでしたが、素敵なポイントで写真を撮ってくれるのでとっても楽しかったです。
ガイドの岩本さんはさすがに山を熟知しておられ、いろんな生き物や植物のお話を聞かせてくださりました。
山道を歩いてピナイサーラの滝に到着した時にはすごく達成感がありました。
前日の雨で水量たっぷりのピナイサーラの滝は本当に素晴らしく、滝つぼで体をクールダウンさせながら大自然を満喫しました。
来た道を戻り、行きとは違った表情を見せるマングローブの川を下ってお店に戻って、手作りの八重山そばをいただきました。
疲れた体に優しいおだしが染み入ります。。。
近くにスーパーもあるのでスナックやお土産も購入できます。
こちらで購入したパイナップルを串に刺したアイスがとってもおいしかったです。
昼食後はバラス島へ、こちらでは珊瑚を拾ったり記念撮影をし、近くのシュノーケリングスポットへ向かいます。
美しいサンゴ畑や色とりどりの魚、運よくウミガメにも会うことができてとても感動しました。
ニモの住むイソギンチャクや、大きなテーブル珊瑚、きれいな珊瑚のスポットにも案内していただいて、あっという間に時間が過ぎました。
水中カメラでも撮影をしてくださったので、楽しいシュノーケリングの思い出が出来ました。
盛りだくさんのツアーなので、自分たちではなかなか写真を撮る余裕もないのですが、あちらこちらで360度カメラや普通のカメラ、水中カメラを駆使して岩本さんがたくさん写真を撮ってくださったので、見返しては思い出に浸っています。
本当に素敵な体験をさせていただきありがとうございました。
また両親が元気なうちに一緒に参加できたらと思います。
