I experienced winter activities in the mangroves of Iriomote Island. It was a clear day with a pleasant breeze, and the weather was very comfortable without any heat!
The atmosphere in the mangroves was quiet and calming, making it feel like time was flowing slowly, which allowed me to relax a lot. I thought to myself, "Isn't this the best time of year?" as the conditions were just perfect.

I really wanted to see the view from the top of the Pinaisara Falls on Iriomote Island, so I signed up for this tour, which had no age restrictions. The place the guide pointed to as the starting point was a cliff. I thought, "Seriously?! We're climbing this cliff?!" and felt a bit regretful... but after about 40 minutes of gripping tree roots, I managed to make it to the top. The view from above the falls was absolutely unforgettable and amazing. I was told I was the oldest among those who climbed this year, but the guide was very kind and provided great support, which made me feel at ease. The explanations about the rare plants and animals were also very educational.
西表島のピナイサーラ滝の上からの光景をどうしても見たくて、年齢制限のなかったこのツアーを申し込みました。「ここから登ります」と指さされた場所は、崖。「マジですか！？こんな崖を登るの！？」と少し後悔しましたが⋯そこから40分ほど木の根っこを掴みながら何とか登りきりました。滝の上からの景色は一生忘れられない素晴らしいものでした。今年登った人の中の最高齢と言われましたが、ガイドさんが優しく指導してくれたので安心でした。珍しい動植物の説明もとても勉強になりました。
70歳前後でも登れますが、普段のトレーニングは必須です。トイレも6時間我慢しました。

It wasn't just a tour where you are taken around; it was a valuable experience that allowed me to deeply understand the nature of Iriomote Island.
Kayaking through the great outdoors was a bit chilly, but jumping into the pool at the Pinaisara Falls was an amazing memory. Thank you for recommending great places to eat in Ishigaki Island! I would love to join another tour when I come back to Iriomote Island. For those who are unsure, I highly recommend it!

Canoeing was my first experience, but it was more stable than I expected, allowing me to enjoy it without any anxiety. On the way to the mangrove forest, we faced a strong wind while crossing a large river, which made it a bit challenging to progress, but the view we reached was breathtaking. As we moved through the mangrove tunnel, I was able to enjoy a special scenery that can only be seen from a canoe, making it a very satisfying tour.
I rented a car at Ohara Port and consulted in advance about participating in the afternoon and being able to return on the last ferry. They confirmed it was fine, so I joined the tour, but I decided on my own to skip the shower before heading back. It was quite thrilling in various ways, but I had a lot of fun!

Since it was the off-season, we were the only group on the tour. Although we were worried about the weather, it started to clear up around the time the tour began. We had a great time with our guide, Eri, who taught us many things. We learned a lot about the plants, the island, and the animals, making it a very enjoyable experience! It was a wonderful tour. We gathered at Uehara Port and after about 40 minutes, we arrived at the water buffalo riding area, and then we headed to Yufu Island. There were many water buffaloes. We had just under an hour of free time here, which was enough to explore. After that, we returned to Uehara Port for lunch. Our guide recommended a delicious restaurant. We went into a pork cutlet place and were very satisfied. (Meals are not included.) After that, we went on the main mangrove canoe tour. The guide taught us how to paddle, and we were off to challenge ourselves. Time flew by in no time. Even as a beginner, I was able to paddle easily. Your lower body will get wet before you start paddling, so a change of clothes is necessary. The guide takes photos with the mangroves, so there's no need to bring a smartphone or camera. The guides were all very nice people.
素晴らしいツアーでした。上原港集合で約40分で水牛乗り場へ。そしては由布島へ。水牛が沢山いました。ここで1時間弱の自由時間。十分回れました。そして再び上原港へ。そこでランチ。美味しいお店をガイドさんから紹介されました。豚カツのお店に入り、大満足。(食事は込みではありません。)その後メインのマングローブカヌーツアーへ。ガイドさんから漕ぎ方を教わり、いざチャレンジ。あっという間に時間が過ぎてしまいました。初心者の私でも簡単に漕ぐ事ができました。下半身は漕ぐ前から濡れますので、着替えは必要です。マングローブと一緒にガイドさんが写真を撮ってくれるので、スマートフォンや、カメラ持ち込み不要です。ガイドさんは皆さんとっても良い人達でした。

I was worried about whether the tour would proceed due to the approaching typhoon, but they contacted me the day before to explain the conditions under which it would be canceled and provided important information, which made me feel at ease to participate.
The guide was very attentive and made sure that even beginners like us could enjoy the experience safely. It was impressive how they continuously encouraged us to ensure our safety throughout the tour.
As we paddled along the calm waters, I felt the grandeur of the natural beauty of Iriomote Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site, up close, and I was moved by the breathtaking scenery multiple times.
When we returned from canoeing, there was a large rainbow in the sky, and its beauty filled my heart. Thanks to the power of nature and the warm guidance of our guide, it became a wonderful experience that will stay in my memory.

I participated in the Pinai Sara Falls Canoe & Barasu Island Snorkeling Tour. Canoeing and trekking were physically demanding, but the excitement of seeing the waterfall up close is something I will never forget. Our guide was the best, patiently teaching us even as beginners and keeping the atmosphere fun during the trip!
I was also happy that they took a lot of photos and I could receive them later via AirDrop.
During snorkeling, I was able to see four sea turtles, and I was amazed by the clownfish and the beautiful coral reef world. The videos and photos taken with a high-quality camera are treasures. This is a tour that allows you to fully enjoy both the sea and mangroves of Iriomote Island, and I wholeheartedly recommend it!

We booked a half-day canoe trip in the mangroves. You have to book directly on the website, and the operator will get back to you by email very quickly. We were greeted by the Pipi Adventure team at Uehara Port. They were a young and very friendly team. We were divided into several small groups. The guide took us by car to the starting point of the canoe trip. We were given a few quick explanations for beginners, and then we were off on our 1.5-hour canoe trip. Kengo was our guide for the half day. He's an awesome guide! He speaks English well and his explanations are clear, ideal for English speakers. Our only regret is not booking a full day!

The snorkeling and mangrove SAP tour on Balas Island was unexpectedly changed to canyoning and a mangrove canoe tour due to bad weather. I didn't know what canyoning was, but I chose it because it seemed more active than the water buffalo tour. In the end, it was a great decision! It was truly an extraordinary experience. Have you ever jumped into a waterfall, gone river rafting, or climbed rocks? We are two timid people, but with the encouragement of our guide and the other participants, we managed to complete it!
I was also amazed that we would paddle through such a vast river during the mangrove canoe tour. I was deeply moved by the grandeur of nature!

I participated with my children (who are now adults). The tour to Piñal Sara Falls was what I was looking forward to the most on this trip. I was worried whether it would be held since it had been raining for several days, but even though the weather wasn't great, we were able to go. When we got to the base of the waterfall, the rain and the spray from the falls were intense, but we were able to take pictures on the big rock that I had seen on Instagram. The guide was also very kind. It was a wonderful experience, and I definitely want to participate again on a nice day.

This time, I participated in a half-day afternoon tour from Ishigaki Island, but the ferry to Uehara Port was canceled. The final travel method was to go from Ishigaki Island to Ohara Port, then take a bus to Uehara Port, and finally join the tour. 今回は石垣島からの日帰り半日、午後ツアー参加でしたが、目的地である上原港便が欠航でした。最終的な移動方法は、石垣島→大原港到着後、バスにて上原港へ移動、その後ツアー参加。と言った流れでしたが、事前の連絡で事細かに説明いただき、実は不安がありましたが、すんなり移動完了！
その辺りの説明も頂けて安心して参加することができました。
本題のツアーなのですが、家族4人でのカヌーツアー。4歳と6歳とで実は不安もありましたが、全く問題なく楽しむ事が出来ました。子供達も初めての経験に大興奮！笑顔とはしゃぐ声が絶えませんでした。マングローブの神秘的な世界と、そこに住む生き物達。大自然と触れ合った大人も子供も癒された時間でした。ガイドの佐藤潤さんもいつも優しく声を掛けてくれて、安心して楽しむ事が出来ました。
ツアー終了後はシャワーも浴びて、さっぱり。集合場所まで送迎して頂き終了。
最後はバスが出るまで手を振ってのお見送りまでしてもらえて大満足の半日でした。
子供もまた行きたいと大はしゃぎで帰路に着く事が出来ました。

As I paddled the canoe and felt the wind, the fatigue of everyday life seemed to fade away.
The sounds of birds echoing in the mangrove forest and the light reflecting on the water's surface were truly beautiful, providing an incredible soothing effect. I was overwhelmed by the large mangroves! The explanations from our instructor, Seichan, were really interesting. Learning about the plants and creatures that live in the brackish water was incredibly educational. Kayaking through the great outdoors while thinking about how these species have adapted over many years was an invaluable experience. Also, I was excited to hear that the Adan is modeled after a certain famous manga, as I'm a big fan of the original work. If the great treasure is found, it might become a popular spot, so I want to go again before that happens! (laughs)

Since we weren't sure about the weather, we made a reservation the night before, but on the day of the tour, everything was handled efficiently. The instructor was a lovely person with a sun-kissed tan and a great smile. They were knowledgeable about the mangroves of Iriomote Island, sharing interesting facts like encountering crabs and how the mangrove leaves tasted salty. Barasu Island had challenging sea conditions, so we went canoeing in the morning and toured Yufu Island in the afternoon. The attention to detail from our female guide made us feel at ease and able to participate comfortably. Not only were the experience photos and videos great, but the guide also had a good eye for capturing scenic photos. Personally, I was impressed by how she shared knowledge about Iriomote throughout the travel time to the water buffalo riding area. We were able to enjoy the travel time as part of the tour! I'm glad I was with Matsuko's team!

We were pulled by a water buffalo to Yubu Island, and I was impressed by how strong the buffalo was, pulling a group of over ten adults steadily to our destination.
