I participated in a tour to experience the remote islands. It was great that we could efficiently visit specific spots. Yufu Island itself is a botanical garden, and it felt like a foreign country, which was fun. I would have appreciated a bit more time for strolling. My child seemed to really enjoy the cart pulled by water buffalo and was happy to ride on two different water buffaloes during the round trip to the island.

It was a great experience, efficiently organized. The local staff were all very kind. When returning from Taketomi Island to Ishigaki Island, it would have been nice to have about 10 more minutes to spare since we were in a bit of a hurry.

The day before was pouring rain, and I couldn't find any of Ishigaki Island's charm, feeling down about the difficulty of booking island tours. However, the next morning, against the forecast, the rain stopped, and amidst mostly cloudy skies, we saw some sunshine. We had a fantastic day with a day trip to Iriomote, Yufu, and Taketomi Islands.
I was amazed by the nature of Iriomote, swayed in a water buffalo cart while listening to the sanshin on the way to Yufu Island, enjoyed a meal in a botanical garden, and in Taketomi Island, I admired the corals and fish through a glass-bottom boat. We also swayed in a water buffalo cart through the town of Taketomi while listening to the sanshin, which made me forget the hustle and bustle of the city.
It might feel a bit overwhelming, but as a first-timer with no prior knowledge, I was able to enjoy a wonderful day exploring the beautiful islands without having to think about anything.
前日が土砂降りで、全く石垣島の良さを見つけられず離島観光の予約の難しさで落ち込んでいた翌朝、予報を覆しなんとか雨は上がり、曇り空中心の中、晴れ間が見え、西表、由布、竹富島日帰りツアーとなり、最高な一日を過ごすことができました。

I had always wanted to ride a water buffalo cart, so I booked this course without hesitation. It was great to visit the three islands, which are not easy to access individually. I was able to take photos with the water buffalo, creating wonderful memories. However, I think it might have been unnecessary to participate in the glass-bottom boat. Ishigaki Port Remote Island Terminal, gather at 7:45. After completing the check-in, we watched a 5-minute video tour guide, then boarded in time for departure (08:15). We received tickets for various facilities and the ferry, and started as a group. The initial boarding time was about 45 minutes, followed by a transfer at Ohara Port. Then we enjoyed a mangrove cruise on Nakama River for about an hour (transferring at a different location) and took a 15-minute bus tour of Iriomote Island. We then switched to a water buffalo cart at Mihara to go to Yubu Island (plantation visit and lunch). We left Yubu Island at 12:25, then went from Mihara to Ohara Port (13:25), to Taketomi Port (14:10), and enjoyed a bus tour on the island (Kaiji Beach [Star Sand Beach] <get off> and Kondoi Beach <view from the bus>). After a water buffalo cart tour, we returned to Taketomi Port (16:00) and then to Ishigaki Port (16:15).
The transfers to each island were on a large ferry. The boat does sway, but since it’s not a small boat, no one experienced seasickness. However, for those concerned about seasickness, the premium seats on the second floor of the ferry (500 yen per route) are recommended.

After checking in at the remote island terminal, I just had to follow the local staff's instructions at each destination, like "get on that boat" and "take that bus," which made things easy and relaxed. I was considering exploring on my own, but I was glad I joined the tour because of its efficiency.
Seeing the uniquely shaped mangrove trees up close and riding a water buffalo with gentle eyes but great strength were wonderful memories unique to Okinawa.
However, although the morning tour included a bento box, I had a feeling it wouldn't suit my taste, and unfortunately, it didn't. I wish there had been an option for a plan without a bento box so I could stay longer on Yubu Island.
離島ターミナルで受付をしたら、あとは行く先々で現地の係の人があのボート乗って、次はあのバス乗ってと指示してくれるので流れに身を任せるのみで気が楽でした。個人でまわろうかとも思っていましたが、あまりの効率のよさにツアーに参加してよかったと思いました。

I wasn't looking forward to the trip too much because the man I spoke to at Dream Tourism was quite unpleasant, but I was pleasantly surprised by the charm of Iriomote Island, Yubu Island, and Taketomi Island, which we visited along the way. Although there wasn't a guide accompanying us the whole time, there were local guides on each island who provided interesting explanations. The tranquility of the Nakama River cruise, the vast jungle-like nature, and the cool breeze made me feel grateful for choosing December for this trip.
The water buffalo on Yubu Island was adorable, and while the lunch on Yubu Island wasn't particularly delicious, the variety of souvenirs available was impressive. Although there were fewer options than at the airport, I was glad to have purchased some items here.
The tour also conveniently drops you off at Ishigaki Island, making it very convenient for those staying there. It's an efficient tour that takes you to places worth seeing, and I highly recommend it. Thank you very much.

I think it would have been even more fun if we could have stayed on Yubu Island a little longer. I felt so happy riding the water buffalo while listening to the sound of the sanshin on the way to the island!
Since it ended early, I was also able to go to Hoshizuna Beach with a rental car in the afternoon, which was nice!

The mangrove tour in Iriomote Island was enjoyable, with the guide's explanations being easy to understand, so I recommend doing the mangrove sightseeing with a guide! In the afternoon, we swayed on a water buffalo cart while listening to a sanshin performance on Yubu Island. For lunch, we had local dishes like mimiga with shikwasa flavor and umukujii, which were delicious. Taking photos and feeding the water buffalo idol, Louis, was also fun. If I had to point out a downside of this tour, it would be that the free time on Yubu Island was short. Other than that, I was very satisfied!

- Iriomote Island: I enjoyed a mangrove cruise while listening to our guide's stories, which felt like a real jungle adventure. We stopped to learn about the names of the mangroves and the purple heron, allowing us to fully appreciate Iriomote Island.
- Yubu Island: We crossed to Yubu Island on a water buffalo through shallow waters, which was a rare experience to interact closely with the buffalo during our free exploration of the island! The lunch included in the plan allowed us to taste local Okinawan ingredients, and later, I personally enjoyed gelato (island banana and milk) at a café that was quite delicious.
- Taketomi Island: We took a bus to Kaiji Beach, famous for its star sand, where we searched for star sand and enjoyed the scenery, fully experiencing Taketomi Island. On Yubu Island, which we crossed by water buffalo cart, there was a lush subtropical botanical paradise. It felt like being in another country. There were flowers and various types of plants that can only be seen in Okinawa.
You can also experience a butterfly garden and a pond with many water buffalo, as well as interact with them. Although I didn't have high expectations for lunch, it was a delicious meal with generous portions, allowing us to enjoy Okinawan cuisine.

景色だけを楽しむ旅行ではなく、様々な情報も一緒に学びながら楽しむことができて、その点にとても満足しました。
