The rental bicycle shop provides a map of Taketomi Island with numbered sections, so you won't get lost. There are bicycle parking areas at the tourist spots, so you won't have any trouble finding a place to park! The West Pier is less crowded, making it perfect for taking photos!

Exploring the subtropical region at night was exciting. The plants and creatures I saw were unlike anything I had ever encountered, and the starry sky was so vast that it was almost overwhelming. It was all a first-time experience for me. I also appreciated the daytime activities, and the guide's stories were fascinating, especially about life on Ishigaki Island. All the guides were very kind, thank you. Additionally, I heard that a new location will be opening in Miyako Island, so I would definitely like to visit that as well.

When it comes to Iriomote Island, it's all about the jungle. I joined the tour hoping to encounter the Iriomote wildcat. And guess what? I actually saw one! They say you might only see it once in a hundred times, but I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse! It was just for a moment, but its stocky body shape is clearly different from an ordinary cat.
Dr. Koiwa, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable, like a living encyclopedia.
西表島といえばジャングル。あわよくばイリオモテヤマネコと遭遇できればとの思いで、参加しました。

The mangrove cruise was disappointing because we couldn't go upstream due to low tide, but it was nice to have various explanations about the types of mangroves.
I enjoyed riding the water buffalo cart, feeling the sea breeze while listening to the stories from the guide and the sound of the sanshin, which made for a relaxing time.
On Taketomi Island, I rode a bicycle to enjoy the island's scenery and ended up getting caught up in searching for star sand.
The only downside was that at Yubu Island, during the typical tourist photo opportunity, we had to wait a long time in the intense sunlight with poor ventilation and no shade. I think photo sessions should be limited to those who want to take pictures. After lunch, we had less than 30 minutes for sightseeing, so I felt that the time spent waiting was a waste. It was disappointing to not have enough time to see the places I wanted to visit on the island.
マングローブクルーズは干潮時に当たった為、上流の方まで行けなくて残念でしたが、マングローブの種類など色々説明があって良かったです。
水牛が一生懸命引いてくれる水牛車に乗り、海風を感じながら、おじさんの話や三線を聞き、のんびりした時間が過ごせました。
竹富島では自転車で島の景色を見ながら回って歩き、最後は星砂探しに夢中になってしまいました。
ただ一つ残念だったのは、由布島で観光地に良くある記念撮影の時に強烈な日差しの中、風通しも悪く日陰もない中を長々と待たされた事です。写真撮影は撮りたい人だけにした方がいいと思います。昼食を食べた後、観光する時間が30分もなかったので、あの待たされた時間がもったいなかったと思いました。島を観て回りたくても時間がなく観たい所が見れずに終わってしまい残念でした。

I finally got to ride a water buffalo and enjoyed the leisurely pace of time on Taketomi Island. The driver also provided a lovely service by singing Okinawan folk songs, which was wonderful. I would love to visit again to see the water buffaloes.

Kawapirabay, selected by the Michelin Guide, was a must-visit for me, so on the last day of our trip, the course that allowed us to visit major tourist spots in Ishigaki Island, including Kawapirabay, and drop us off at the airport was very convenient for our family.
There was a bus guide who provided clear explanations, making the experience more memorable than just sightseeing on our own. We also enjoyed the journey as they played the sanshin and sang along.
Not only did we visit Kawapirabay, but we also went to Tamatorizaki Observatory and a wild palm grove, places that are hard to reach individually, creating great memories to wrap up our trip.
Since meals were included, warm dishes were already prepared at the restaurant, allowing us to eat right away without wasting time. Although the sightseeing time at each location was short, it was a very hot summer day, so being able to listen to compact explanations and quickly move to the air-conditioned bus was truly helpful.
ミシュランガイドに選ばれた川平湾は絶対に行っておきたかったので、旅行の最終日に、川平湾を含めた石垣島の主要観光スポットを周って空港で下車できるというコースは、我が家には好都合のコースでした。
ちゃんとバスガイドさんもいらして、いろいろと分かりやすく説明をして下さるので、自分でただ何となく見学するよりも印象に残りますし、三線を弾きながら歌も歌って下さったり道中も楽しめました。
川平湾だけでなく、玉取崎展望台、野生のヤシの群生林など、個人ではなかなか行けない場所にも行けたので、旅行の最後の締めとなるよい思い出になりました。
食事付なので、レストランに行くと既に温かいお料理が用意されていてすぐに食べられて、時間のムダもありません。どの場所も見学時間は短いですが、真夏のかなり暑い日だったので、コンパクトに説明を聞きながら観光し、サッとクーラーのよく効いたバスに乗って移動出来るので本当に助かりました。

We used this service as a family of three. After arriving at the airport at 10:15, we rented a car and headed to the ferry terminal for the islands. The outbound trip was on a small boat, while the return was on a large ship. After arriving at Taketomi Island, we took a bus to the center. After checking in, we waited about 15 minutes. When our name was called, we boarded the water buffalo cart. It was a slow and leisurely ride. Before we knew it, the tour was over. We rented bicycles and visited Nagomi Tower, Nishi Sazaki Bridge, and Kaiji Beach, and then it was time for the last ferry. We had a fulfilling half day from the 13:05 meeting until just past 17:00.
家族３人で利用しました。10:15に空港到着後、レンタカーを借りてから、離島ターミナルへ。
往路は小ぶりな船。復路は大型船でした。竹富島に到着してからバスで中心部へ。受付をして待つこと15分程。名前を呼ばれ水牛車へ。ゆっくり、のんびり廻ります。あっと言う間に周回終了。自転車を借りて、なごみの塔、西桟橋、カイジ浜を廻ったら最終便の時刻。13:05の集合から17時ちょい過ぎまで充実した半日を過ごせます。

I participated on the 12th during my stay from August 11th to 14th. We left early in the morning, and the boat ride was quite rocky, which made both my child and me a bit anxious. I had a great time efficiently visiting three remote islands for the first time. I was able to enjoy sightseeing without feeling rushed.
During the ferry ride, I was on the deck, but the wind was quite strong, so it might have been better to sit inside. I was satisfied with exploring Taketomi Island freely by renting a bicycle.

This is a tour that both adults and children can enjoy! In the first half, we explored the night jungle, walking around in the dark, discovering bats, and even touching a large coconut crab—an experience you can't have in Tokyo! In the second half, we enjoyed stargazing, learning the names of stars and watching shooting stars, which left both adults and children very satisfied! I thought it would be a busier tour, but I was able to take my time and really enjoy the mangroves. The guide's explanations were clear and enjoyable, which was great.

The sightseeing was as I expected. The guide was the only male, but he was a nice person. However, it was a bit disappointing that his speech seemed to be memorized and delivered in a monotonous tone, making it hard to understand, and his voice wasn't very clear. The driver was also pleasant. The meals were good, but they felt like standard set meals that you could find anywhere. They were better than bento boxes. The scenery at Kabira Bay changes with the weather. It might be amazing when the weather is nice.
観光は思って通りでした。
ガイドさんは唯一の男の方でしたが 感じいい方です。ただ喋りが 暗記されたことを 何度もしゃべっているためか、一辺倒のイントネーションで伝わりにくく 声も通らずで聞きずらいのが残念でした。
運転手さんも感じよかったですね。お食事は美味しいというか どこでも食べれる感じの定食です。
お弁当とかよりいいです。
川平湾はお天気で風景が変わりますね。お天気だと最高かも。

The optional tours for the cruise were expensive, so I booked a local tour directly through VELTRA. It was about half the price of similar tours on the ship, making it a great deal. I definitely recommend it for Japanese travelers. However, there is a risk that the ship may not arrive as scheduled. In our case, we arrived 30 minutes late and missed the tour, but we took a taxi and joined the tour midway. The taxi driver was kind and provided us with sightseeing information. Experiences like this are part of the joy of traveling!

As soon as we arrived at Taketomi Island, we enjoyed a glass-bottom boat (with air conditioning! Apparently, this is the only company that offers it so far). There were no other guests, so we had the boat to ourselves.
After that, we enjoyed a water buffalo cart ride, and the tour ended around 16:15.
It was too hot to feel like going outside, so we waited for the bus to the port in the waiting area (which also had air conditioning).
It was quite a good deal and a lot of fun.

On the last night, I joined Pip's night tour after the day tour I had with him! The kids were super excited about the creatures and plants we encountered, and the guide was entertaining, which made it very satisfying! There were also several staff members who spoke English, so the people from Belgium who came with us seemed to be having a great time too! I definitely want to participate in another tour.

On the day of the tour, the clouds cleared beautifully, and I was able to experience an extraordinary starry sky that made me realize, "So this is what the night sky looks like in a southern island!" I also understood that the visibility of stars differs greatly between the town center and the outskirts of Ishigaki. If you come to Ishigaki and the weather looks good at night, I definitely recommend going to see the stars!

ツアー当日は雲がきれいに晴れ、これが南の島の星空か！と実感できる格別の星空を見ることができました。
また、石垣でも町中と町外れで全然星の見え方が違ってくるということもよく分かりました。

Later, I learned that for lunch, we were taken care of by a sister store on Iriomote Island, and for dinner, we were at the Ishigaki Island location.
I was hesitant to participate due to the unfortunate cloudy weather, but since it was said that there were other attractions besides the starry sky, I thought I might as well join since I had some free time.
The staff member in charge was reassuring, saying, "I can't guarantee we'll see the stars, but if it looks promising, we'll move to the best spot right away and adapt!" Near the end of the tour, there was a moment when the clouds parted, and I was able to enjoy the Milky Way!
The starry sky was, of course, wonderful, but what impressed me the most was the dedication of the staff!
後から知ったのですが、お昼は西表島の姉妹店にお世話になり、夜は石垣島店でお世話になりました。
生憎の曇り空で参加するか迷ったのですが、星空以外も見所があるとの触れ込みだったので、どうせ暇になるぐらいならと参加してみました。
担当していただいたスタッフさんは「星空が観れるか分かりませんが、見れそうならすぐにポイントへ移動して臨機応変にやります！」と心強く、ツアー終了間近で雲が切れる瞬間があり、天の川を堪能できました！
星空ももちろん素晴らしかったですが、一番は一生懸命なスタッフさんに感動しました！

This was my second bus tour on Ishigaki Island.
The weather wasn't great on the day, but we didn't get caught in the rain at all.
I chose the morning tour again because I thought it would be nice to have an interesting guide.
The tour route was as follows:
Gathering at Higashi Transportation Bus Terminal ⇒ Tour of Tōrin-ji Temple (view from the bus) ⇒ Tomb of the Chinese ⇒ Nagura Bay (view from the bus) ⇒ Kabira Park (you can ride a glass-bottom boat for a fee) ⇒ Yamabare Ranch and Poza's Table (lunch) ⇒ Yaeyama Palm Grove in Yonaha ⇒ Tamatorizaki Observatory ⇒ New Nannū Island Ishigaki Airport ⇒ Mangrove Forest of Miyara River (view from the bus) ⇒ Dispersal at Higashi Transportation Bus Terminal.
The tour lasted from 9:30 to about 14:00.
As always, the guide's stories were enjoyable, and they even sang at various points, so I was never bored.
We rode the glass-bottom boat at Kabira Bay, but unfortunately, due to rough seas that day, we couldn't go to the sea turtle point. However, the water was clear otherwise, and we were able to see sharks, so I had a good time.
For lunch, it was the same as before, a self-proclaimed mini hamburger made with Ishigaki beef (I’m not a big fan of hamburgers, so I wasn't too happy about it).
This tour allows you to visit various places without having to drive yourself, and it's great for families to enjoy together.
If I could be picky, I think it would be nice to have a few more routes to choose from for future visits.

今回も話しの面白いガイドさんが良いと思い、午前中のツアーにしました。

東運輸バスターミナル集合⇒桃林寺 （車窓）⇒唐人墓⇒名蔵湾（車窓）⇒川平公園（有料でグラスボートに乗れます）⇒ヤマバレ牧場・ポーザーおぱさんの食卓（昼食）⇒米原のヤエヤマヤシ林⇒玉取崎展望台⇒新・南ぬ島石垣空港⇒宮良川のヒルギ林 （車窓）⇒東運輸バスターミナル解散
9:30から約14:00までのツアーです。
相も変わらずガイドさんの話しは楽しいですし、所々でお歌も披露いただき、退屈する事はありませんでした。
川平湾でグラスボートに乗りましたが、この日は海がしけていた事もあり、ウミガメのポイントには行けず残念でしたが、それ以外では海も濁っておらず、シャークも見られたので、それなりに楽しめました。
昼食は前と変わらず、自称石垣牛のミニハンバーグ(笑)です（私はハンバーグが余り好きではないので嬉しくない）。
このツアー、自分で運転する事もなく各所を巡って貰え、家族でワイワイしながらで良いですよ。
贅沢を言うとあと何ルートかあると再訪した時に選択の幅が増えて良いかなぁって思います。
