A tour around the three islands of Iriomote Island, Yufu Island, and Takefu Island. The weather was great, and it was a very efficient tour with no wasted time. There was also a reasonable amount of free time, which allowed us to enjoy ourselves. The staff were wonderful in their response to those who felt unwell. There are several companies offering similar tours, but it seems they operate their own boats, making for a safe and comfortable journey.

The great nature of Iriomote Island, the water buffalo cart on Yufu Island, and actually riding a water buffalo on Taketomi Island created wonderful memories.
However, I felt a bit regretful that if we had a little more time on Taketomi Island, we could have explored other places as well. That said, I was very satisfied with how fulfilling the day was!

I was busy visiting three islands in one day, but I was able to efficiently see the highlights, which made me excited for my next trip as a first-time visitor. Riding the water buffalo cart was a lot of fun since it was my first time. While traveling to Yubu Island on the water buffalo cart, I discovered a fiddler crab. I was moved to see the fiddler crab, which I had only known from songs, right in front of me! The oil miso from Yubu Island that we had on the tour was exquisite. I couldn't help but buy some at the souvenir shop. I was torn between exploring the mangroves of Iriomote Island by canoe or kayak or taking a sightseeing boat, but choosing this tour was definitely the right decision for me. It was great to ride the boat and leisurely reflect on the mangrove ecosystem while listening to the guide's explanations. The bus driver's sightseeing commentary while traveling on Iriomote Island was also outstanding. Although it was a short time, I was able to learn more about Iriomote Island than what is in the guidebooks.
一日で3つの島を回るので忙しかったです。が、見どころを効率よく見れたので初めて訪れた旅行者には次回の旅行への期待が膨らみました。水牛車に乗るのは初めてだったのでとても楽しかったです。由布島に水牛車で移動中に、シオマネキを発見。これまで歌でしか知らなかったシオマネキを目の前で見ることができ感動！ツアーで食べた由布島の油味噌は絶品でした。思わず土産物屋で買ってしまいました。西表島のマングローブをカヌーやカヤックで巡るか観光ボートにするか迷ったけどこのツアーにして私は大正解。ボートに乗り、船頭さんの解説を聞きながらゆったりとマングローブの生態系に思いを馳せれたのはよかったです。西表島を移動中のバスの運転手さんの観光案内も大変すばらしかったです。短い時間ですが西表島のことをガイドブック以上に知ることができました。
いろいろな所を効率よく巡るので、時間のない方や初めての方にお勧めです。

I didn't rent a car on my first trip to Ishigaki Island, but I was able to use my time efficiently, which was great. The hotel provided shuttle service, so I didn't have to walk around in the heat as much, making travel easier than I expected. During the ride, the guide shared many stories about the Yaeyama Islands and even played the sanshin while singing, which was truly moving!

We were considering traveling to Iriomote Island as a family, but since my elderly mother was with us, we decided to join a tour. The staff member who came to pick us up at the hotel had a wonderful smile that left a lasting impression, and I was moved to see that they also handled the boat operations. I'm sure all the staff are well-rounded individuals. They worked efficiently and responsibly. The explanations from the tour guide on the Nakama River were very easy to understand, and the time spent riding the water buffalo to Yubu Island calmed my usually restless heart. On the return boat, the splashes of water felt refreshing, making it a unique experience especially during the hot season. Thanks to participating in this tour, we were able to spend a happy time. ▪︎Mangrove Tour
Since I had experienced mangrove kayaking the day before, I thought the mangrove tour would be redundant. However, the captain's detailed explanations were wonderful! I was able to gain new knowledge, and it was enjoyable.
▪︎Bus Tour
The female driver on the bus tour was also fantastic. While driving, she provided bright and entertaining explanations, keeping us engaged the whole time. We arrived at the next destination in no time. Unfortunately, we didn't see any animals like wild boars. On the way back, there wasn't much talking, but I was impressed by her gentle announcements to comfort a child who was fussing. The child stopped crying, didn't they? (^ -^)

I was able to see the elusive flower, Sagarihana! In the area marked "Sagarihana" on the map, it wasn't blooming yet, but a female staff member told me, "You might see it in the butterfly garden!" Complete free time. First, I boarded a glass-bottom boat. I was able to board without a reservation. The underwater scenery was quite different from Kabira Bay, and I enjoyed that difference. I heard there is an underwater volcano that produces hot springs! I was able to see something rare. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see any sea turtles.
Next, I rented a bicycle, but the ground was gravel, which was very scary. I didn't have the luxury to look at the map while pedaling, so I couldn't complete a full loop. I didn't find any particularly nice spots and couldn't enjoy it. Also, when I took a slightly narrower path, there were water buffaloes blocking the road. They didn't seem to be tied up, and while they were cute and relaxed, I started to worry about whether it was okay. I had heard on Yufu Island that water buffaloes dislike being touched and can injure people with their horns, so I was concerned that tourists might unknowingly touch them.

前日にマングローブカヤックを体験していたため、マングローブ遊覧は被るなぁと思っていました。が、船長さんの説明が詳しくて素晴らしかったです！また新しい知識を得ることができ、楽しかった。
▪︎バスツアー
バスツアーの女性運転手さんも素晴らしかった。運転しながら、明るく楽しい説明とお話で、少しも飽きさせず。あっという間に次の目的地へ着きました。残念ながら、イノシシなどの動物は見られなかった。帰路は特にお話はなかったが、お子様がぐずったタイミングで優しくフォローするようなアナウンスをされていたことが印象的だった。お子様、泣き止んでいましたね(^-^)
▪︎由布島
幻のお花、サガリバナを見ることができた！マップに書いてある「サガリバナ」エリアではまだ咲いていませんでしたが、スタッフの女性が、「蝶々園なら見られるかも！」と教えて下さった。温室だからか？６月中旬と早い時期にも関わらず、しっかりお花がみられました。すでにお昼頃なので、下に落ちていたものの、美しくて感激した。水牛達は、引退後は穏やかに余生を過ごすと聞けたこともうれしかった。願わくば、水牛車は満員にせず、なるべく負担をかけないであげてください…。もしくは、あれだけたくさんの人を乗せても平気なのか？私のように心配してしまう人もいるので、不要な心配しなくていいよう、ご説明いただけるとうれしい。
▪︎お弁当
期待以上に美味しかった！揚げ物はサクサク、お味噌汁も温かく。ボリュームがあって満足ですが、ご飯の量は少食の方は事前に申告できたらいいなぁと思った。
▪︎竹富島
完全なフリータイム。まずはグラスボートに乗船。予約なしで乗れた。海底の様子が川平湾とだいぶ違っており、その違いを楽しめた。温泉が出る海底火山があるとか！珍しいものを見れた。ウミガメには残念ながら会えず。
次にレンタサイクルを借りたものの、地面が砂利道でとても怖い。自転車を漕ぎながらマップを見る余裕もなく、一周はできなかった。特に良い場所は見つからず、楽しめなかった。また、少し細い道を通ると、水牛が道を塞ぐようにいた。特にロープで繋がれている感じもなく、伸び伸びしていて可愛らしいけど、大丈夫なのか心配になった。水牛は触られるのが苦手で、角でついて人に怪我をさせることがあると由布島で聞いていたため、観光客など、知らずに触ってしまうのではないかと。
