Which island should I visit? Where is interesting? I had so many questions that I decided to sign up for a tour. The tour around the islands was very fulfilling, with introductions to sights while riding a water buffalo cart and singing with a sanshin.

If I had to mention a downside, each itinerary was packed tightly, making it feel a bit rushed, and it wasn't a leisurely sightseeing experience. (If possible, I would have preferred more free exploration time on Taketomi Island instead of Yubu Island.)

However, I was able to feel the charm of the islands and the relaxed flow of time, which was very nice. Next, I want to visit each island one by one.

I'm so happy that I was able to ride a water buffalo cart and fulfill my dream!! Since I have a one-year-old child, I was unsure whether to go on my own considering the time, but I'm glad I chose the tour! First of all, we could get on right away without waiting for tickets, so the timing was smooth, which was the best part. The buffalo was super cute!!

After arriving at Iriomote Island from Ishigaki Island, we had a restroom break, and then we boarded the mangrove cruise. As a family, we were lined up behind solo travelers and two adults. The people in front had scattered themselves in the window seats, and when the staff asked us to sit separately, I was honestly taken aback.

Our family was forced to sit apart, and my child became sad and started to cry, making it very difficult to enjoy the mangroves.

This tour consistently operated on a first-come, first-served basis, and it was impressive to see two single women rushing to line up ahead of everyone else. It's frustrating to be shown such human behavior while on vacation. I thought the seating arrangement was a chance for the tour company to showcase their skills.

石垣島→西表島へ到着後にトイレ休憩があって、その後マングローブ遊覧船に乗るのですが、家族連れの私達は、お一人様や大人二人の方の後に並んでいました。前の方達がまばらに窓側の席を陣取っておられ、その光景を見た店員さんから、別々に座ってくださいと言われた時には正直呆れてしまいました。

家族がバラバラに離れて座らされて、子どもは悲しくて泣き出し、とてもマングローブを楽しむ気分にはなれませんでした。

こちらのツアーでは一貫して、早いもの勝ちで進行されていて、独身女性２人組の方は、我先にと並んでいたのが印象的でした。
旅行に来てまで人間臭いものを見せられるのはうんざりです。席配置に関しては、ツアー会社の腕の見せ所なのかなと思いました。

Originally scheduled for December 30, it was changed to December 31 due to bad sea conditions. The terminal check-in is smooth but a bit crowded. Stickers are applied, and passengers are sorted. The ferry was stable and didn't sway much. The weather was cloudy with occasional rain, but even on New Year's Eve, it was over 15°C, so a coat is essential, but it was manageable. However, the water buffalo cart to Yubujima crossed in strong winds, which was a bit chilly.

This is actually my second time, but unlike before, the boat ride on the river in Iriomote Island is now just a round trip without landing, which is a bit boring. Other than that, the water buffalo carts on Yubujima and Taketomi Island have a different atmosphere and are quite nice.

If I had to say something, I think it would be nice to have Okinawa soba for lunch, and the free time on Taketomi Island feels a bit short. Overall, I think the meeting place, the way we moved around, and the time allocation were fairly good.

実は2回目ですが、以前と違って西表島の川を船で行くのは、上陸なしで、行って帰ってくるだけとなっておりちょっと退屈です。
その他は由布島と竹富島も水牛車に乗りますが、雰囲気は変わって、いい感じです。

敢えて言うなら、昼食は沖縄そばがあってもいいと思うのと、竹富島での自由時間がちょっと短いなと言うのが感想です。
全体的には集合場所、周り方、時間配分とまあまあ良かったと思います。

Since I could choose my own return boat time, after touring the village with the water buffaloes, I was able to rent a bicycle from the neighboring building and go to the beach and some nearby places. I recommend bringing a raincoat as it seems to rain a lot during this season. Even when it rained along the way, I had no problem riding the bicycle thanks to the raincoat. I would like to visit again on a sunny day.

I enjoyed visiting the sightseeing spots in Ishigaki, and it was great that the water buffalo tour on Taketomi Island was included. As someone who can't drive, it was easy for me to participate in this trip with my 10-year-old daughter. Kabira Bay was incredibly beautiful, and we even got to see a crested serpent eagle. Overall, it was good, but the departure of the boat from Iriomote Island to Taketomi Island was delayed by about 15 minutes because one of the participants missed the bus, which was disappointing as there was hardly any time for sightseeing on Iriomote Island. Such things can happen, so I recommend choosing a plan that allows for a departure on the 5:00 PM boat from Iriomote Island. Personally, I think it would be nice to go to Hoshi no Suna Beach by bus tour or by bicycle, so a combination of an ox cart and bike rental seems like a good option.

The stargazing tour was amazing! The staff entertained us with many fun stories! We were lucky to see not only the beautiful starry sky but also shooting stars. We also spotted a Japanese scops owl three times. They even caught some very rare fireflies and their larvae, as well as a large coconut crab and a palm crab, which left us guests very impressed! We also saw a big bat! Additionally, we were really lucky to see many cute hermit crabs! I highly recommend that everyone give it a try!

I participated on the last day of my trip. I thoroughly enjoyed a half-day tour from morning until 2:30 PM. During the mangrove cruise, the guide provided very clear explanations. Since it had just rained, there was a rainbow arching over the green mangroves and blue sky, which was refreshing for the soul.

The water buffalo cart to Yufuin was also a lot of fun, as I learned about the buffalo's stories and the history and culture of Yufuin. I would love to visit again!
