Yuri, our tour guide, was incredibly entertaining and knowledgeable, teaching us not only about the creatures but also about the history of Miyako Island, leaving us parents in continuous amazement. Listening to the stories while observing the ecology of Miyako's wildlife was truly a "living lesson."
Even our elementary school children were captivated, and they were thrilled by the coconut crab right in front of them! It was much larger than it appeared in photos, impressive yet somehow humorous, and the more we looked, the more fascinating it became.
If you're going to Miyako Island, you absolutely must experience this tour! It was a thoroughly satisfying night that the whole family enjoyed.

We participated in a night tour on short notice to celebrate my eldest son's middle school graduation and high school entrance.
Due to the season, the temperature was low, and we couldn't see the coconut crabs... We also missed out on seeing many insects and reptiles, but our guide, Yūri, provided detailed explanations about the plants, stars, and Miyako Island, which made the experience very enjoyable. Thank you very much!

I felt it would be better if there were enough exploration lights for everyone (at least for the children). I believe the kids would have a much different experience by actively searching and discovering things themselves.

Although we couldn't see the sunset due to the clouds, the canoe experience itself was enjoyable, and the hour flew by. Spending time leisurely in a private bay was wonderful, and I was deeply impressed by the crystal-clear blue sea. Night Tour
Starting with the Miyako Hiki Gaeru, we encountered owls, bats, hermit crabs, and even the coconut crab that I was eager to see, making it an exhilarating tour. I was a bit worried that the cold in December would reduce the activity of the creatures, but thanks to our guide, Hayata, we were able to see all the animals we wanted. The weather forecast was cloudy until the day before, and I was worried because it was still partly cloudy during the day. However, by the time we started shooting, it was completely clear.
I was able to see the starry sky, just like I did when I was a child, even with my aging eyes.
The starry sky in Miyako Island is the best.
Of course, the photos turned out amazing. The staff suggested poses, and by just holding still for a count of ten, we quickly finished taking eight photos together.
Next time, I want to take pictures with the Milky Way in the background.
