The guide was very helpful and made the whole process of creating plastic models enjoyable and easy to follow. They even took the time to explain the history of plastic models, which added to the experience and made it more meaningful.
I was also very impressed with how the guide interacted with my son. They were very sweet and patient with him and helped him create his own bowl of ramen. My son was thrilled with the result and was proud to show off his creation to everyone.

Fun, quick, and you get a lovely souvenir!

The instructor was very kind, introduced us to the history of samples, thoroughly described all the materials and techniques and guided us through making our sample. We were very happy with the experience and the resulting souvenir! Note that our instructor mostly spoke in Japanese, which was Ok with us, but I believe there are other employees who speak English.

Japanese Ramen Making Experience

He was a perfect fit for this class since the laying of the ramen noodles, and particular placement of the garnishes are more meticulous. The instructor was very thorough in explaining the materials we would be using, had an example placed next to you on the table so you understood how it would look like. The place is very neat and clean and he really cheers you along as your working on your ramen making.

Fun Family Experience!
Reviewed by: Marisa, 2023/03/26I’ve grown up seeing these food displays outside of Japanese restaurants, but never knew how they were made. Found out about this experience from another family traveling through Tokyo and it looked like fun. It was much more fun than expected but definitely not as easy as it looks. Definitely need to channel your creative side.
We hope to do this again the next time we’re in Japan and attempt the tempura experience!

Wonderful Experience

Fantastic!

The craft itself is interesting and intricate, and I was told about the history of plastic food and the materials used alongside getting the hands-on experience crafting a very realistic Japanese curry. It's an offbeat activity all ages can enjoy, and something very unique to Japan. I found the price very affordable and would recommend anyone to go. 10/10.

Now I know how the plastic food I see everywhere is made.

I learned a bit about the history of Samples and got to make a souvenir that ‘ thanks to the instructors help ‘ came out perfect. Also this was a great place to get souvenirs for everyone back home. Not many souvenirs say Japan better than a plastic sushi key chain.

The staff is very friendly and patience in introducing the activity, as well as some history of the Food Sample Culture in Japan, which is a bonus point. You can tell he is very enthusiastic and enjoying this experience. Just an extra note, we communicated without any issue in English.
You get to choose your five pieces of colourful assorted accessories for your sundae. The cup of the sundae and the colourful jam at the bottom will be provided. You have to first fill up the base of the sundae cup, then the twirling cream at the top and place your assortments as you wish. The staff carefully checked every steps of the process, also fix any errors professionally. You will be guarenteed a outstanding food sample even for your first try.
As for the advice for future participants, since it takes a while for the food sample to dry off, it is better you plan your activites accordingly. Although, the staff did carefully stabilised the food samples in a provided paper box (in a very meticulous way, props to that) and bag so it was not an issue for us.

The Food Sample workshop was so good

Interesting class, nice tutor.
Reviewed by: Maggie Leung, 2019/05/30The tutor is so nice and his English is easy to understand. We feel a little bit strange when we are on the way because it is located in residential area. However, the image changed when we get into the classroom.
The tools are well prepared, instructions are clear, the tutor is very nice. And the most important thing is we like our product so much!
Just one concerning point for foreigners that we need to buy some boxes to store our product well. Or else, we are not able to bring them to our home safely since we need to take flight.
The total experience is amazing. I will recommend it to my friends. I'd also like to try other food sample classes from this tutor when I travel to Tokyo later.

Fun Plastic Craft in Tokyo
Reviewed by: Stevie, 2019/04/24This workshop was easy to find, using google maps. It is a small, family-run business. We were welcomed warmly and given excellent instructions on how to put together our sample foods. My husband created sushi, my daughter (8) and I made sundaes.
We all had a great time, love our unique souvenirs, and would recommend this experience to others. It takes about a day to dry/set, but is well packaged for flying home.
The sample industry is 90+ years old, so taking part in this is trying a piece of Japanese culture.

Fun family experience

We got to make our own designs and the instructor explained the whole process and helped guide my kids in creating their own Ice cream sundaes. The owner also showed us different foods and types of samples and their history. Going from wax to now PVC and plastics. We enjoyed their hospitality and the experience overall was awesome. Kids couldn’t wait until there samples were dry which took only 24 hours. They packaged it up in protective boxes for us for the train ride back to our hotel. Definitely recommend!

Great hands on project for families!

Excellent for day-trips or as a short activity!
Reviewed by: Kiko, 2019/04/04I made two separate reservations, as my group was split between wanting to make different things. The instructor was friendly and could give instructions in English. He was very encouraging and made our experience stress-free.
The location was much smaller than I expected, about the size of a studio apartment. There are "blanks" you can use to help you plan the layout of your sample. There's some room for error, so it's ok if you don't get everything how you want it the first time.
It took about 45 min for us to finish our samples. Bigger samples, like ramen and tempura looked like they'd take closer to 90 mins. This activity would be perfect between major plans, like killing time in the afternoon before dinner plans, or as a detour from Ikebukuro.
Advice: tie back long hair and wear short sleeves.

Easy and fun!

We don't speak Japanese, so he tried his best to explain what he could in English. He also used a Pocket Talk to translate. We wish we could have gone back another day to do it again!

Worth the trek!

We were a little worried whether the trip would be worth it as we made our way to the studio, but our fears were laid to rest when we were greeted enthusiastically by the owner who really made the experience priceless. Amazing family experience in Tokyo
