I’m really glad I went on the tour! During the tour, I learned about the unknown Yakusugi trees, various gourmet foods and sightseeing spots on Yakushima, and the mountains. I didn't feel tired at all on the way to Jomon Sugi, but I was very tired on the way back. However, Mr. Ando kept the conversation going without interruption, which made it easier to walk. Additionally, it was great that he created different topics from different perspectives on the way there and back. Deciding when to depart was also challenging, so it was good that we delayed the departure time by 30 minutes. The panoramic photography technique was excellent as well.

Despite concerns about rain, we were lucky to have clear weather, which made for a great tour. I was worried about participating alone, but the guide and the other participants were all wonderful people, so I was able to enjoy the trekking experience.

The stories were interesting, and I was very happy to hear unique tales from Yakushima. They took a lot of photos during the hike, which made for great memories ( ˆОˆ )/. Even someone like me, who has no stamina at all, was able to climb! The Yakusugi trees were, of course, amazing, but the other natural features were also very beautiful and mystical! I highly recommend this tour to many people!

The weather forecast predicted rain. When I arrived at the trailhead, there was a rainbow! The sun also peeked through. It rained for about two hours on the way back. I was anxious about participating alone, but everyone in the same group was also participating solo, which made it fun. As we walked, we learned various things from the guide about Yakushima and the Yakusugi trees, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Along the way, there were multiple water points, and the taste of the water was amazing! I encountered deer and monkeys!! I fully enjoyed the great outdoors. I want to go again. Waking up at 3 AM, the long trek on the cart path, the tough mountain climbing, and finally seeing the size of Jomon Sugi was truly moving. Even though it was beyond the fence, I was overwhelmed by its presence, having lived there since ancient times. All my fatigue disappeared, and I was just so glad to have come.
We were part of a group of about eight people, including a veteran guide full of love for Yakushima and a newcomer who had moved to Yakushima. At first, the walking pace felt a bit fast, but considering the long journey and the frequent breaks, the time management was excellent.
The guide's stories about Yakushima's nature and history were very interesting.

In the morning, I had signed up for canoeing but changed to SUP. I had given up on SUP because there wasn't one that suited my weight, but I was glad to be able to ride SUP in Yakushima. For lunch, I was taken to a delicious soba restaurant and was very satisfied. In the afternoon, the excitement of reaching a big waterfall during my first canyoning experience is something I will never forget. Thank you very much!

Due to the typhoon, our originally planned 3-night, 4-day trip was reduced to just a day and a half of sightseeing in Yakushima. This morning, we visited Shiratani Unsuikyo (Mossy Forest), and in the afternoon, the kayaking on the Anbo River turned out to be a fulfilling tour. My husband, who is usually more of an indoor person and wasn't very enthusiastic, was delighted by Mr. Tawaki's extensive knowledge and personality. We arrived without getting tired, enjoying explanations about moss, flowers, and Yakusugi trees along the way, while listening to a wide range of fun stories. The kayaking was also very safe and trustworthy. The thoughtful attention throughout the day was very pleasant. I would like to request Mr. Tawaki again when I visit Yakushima next time.

As a retirement celebration, my spouse and I planned a trip to Yakushima. At 62 years old, I had no climbing experience and no exercise habits, but I was drawn to the world of "Spirited Away" and wanted to visit Yakushima. Since I couldn't keep up with the pace of a group tour, we opted for a private tour.
I started practicing going up and down stairs ten days before the trip. I really wanted to reach the moss-covered forest, but I didn't think I could make it to Taiko Rock. However, our guide took more than 1.5 times the usual time, stopping frequently to explain the plants and share interesting insights about Yakushima's nature and his own experiences (he was a local). This allowed us to take breaks for our bodies and minds, and we were able to reach Taiko Rock.
The weather was bad in the morning at the moss-covered forest, but by the time we reached Taiko Rock, the weather cleared up, and we were able to enjoy the breathtaking views.
Even though we were running over time, our guide, Mr. Iwakawa, slowed down the car to look for Yakuzaru and Yakushika along the road, and he stopped at scenic spots, showing a spirit of hospitality that we truly appreciated.
Thanks to Mr. Iwakawa, it became an unforgettable journey. Thank you very much!
退職記念として夫婦で屋久島旅行を計画しました。62歳で全く登山経験はもちろん、運動習慣がなかったのですが、千と千尋の世界の白谷雲水峡にあこがれて屋久島を訪れました。団体ツアーのペースにはついて行けないので、プライベートツアーにしました。
10日前から階段上り下りの練習を始めました。苔むす森まではどうしても行きたいと思いましたが、その先の太鼓岩までは行けると思っていませんでした。でもガイドさんが通常の1.5 倍以上の時間をかけて、小刻みに立ち止まって、植物の説明や、屋久島の自然や（地元の方だそうで）ご自身の経験など興味深い説明を数分して頂き、身体と心の休憩を取りながら、太鼓岩まで行くことができました。
午前中の苔むす森まではお天気が悪かったのですが、太鼓岩に着く頃には、天気も上がって絶景を楽しむことができました。
時間が超過しているにもかかわらず、帰りの車でも道路付近にヤクザルやヤクシカがいないか、車のスピードを緩めて探して下さったり、景色の良いところで、車を止めて下さったりと、おもてなしの心にあふれてみえて、とてもありがたかったです。
ガイドの岩川さんのおかげで、感動的な旅になりました。本当にありがとうございました。

The weather was favorable, and I was able to complete the hike much more easily than I expected. I had been concerned about leeches, but there were no leeches or even mosquitoes, and I wasn't bitten by any bugs at all. There were cold and delicious spring waters available everywhere, making it easy to gather water, but I was worried about a lack of salt, so I brought salt tablets for heatstroke prevention.
There might be fewer toilets than expected for the length of the journey, with one at the trailhead and one along the trolley path. There are occasionally spaces for portable toilets, so those who are concerned might want to bring one. I have a sensitive stomach, so I felt a bit uneasy when my stomach got cold from sweating, and I thought I should have brought something. If you're using trekking poles, I found it easier to walk with one pole rather than two. I ordered lunch boxes for both breakfast and lunch, but the portions might be a bit too much for women. I felt it was just right to split one into breakfast and lunch. Depending on the situation, there might be things you can't do, but I really appreciated being able to stop by the river on the way back to cool my feet. After that, my steps felt much lighter. I was also grateful for the miso soup provided during lunch. Thank you very much.
天気に恵まれたこともあり、思ったよりもかなり楽に踏破できました。ヒル対策を考えていましたが、ヒルどころか蚊もおらず一切虫に刺されませんでした。至る所で冷たくておいしい湧水がくめるので水の調達は簡単ですが、塩分不足が心配なので、熱中症対策のために私は塩タブレットを持参しました。
トイレは登山口、トロッコ道の途中にひとつ、山に入る前にひとつと行程の長さのわりには少ないかもしれません。携帯トイレ用のスペースは時々あるので、心配な人は携帯トイレを持参した方が良いかもしれません。私はお腹が弱いので、汗でお腹が冷えてきて途中少し不安になり、持参すれば良かったと思いました。ストックを使う場合は2本より1本の方が歩きやすかったです。お弁当を朝昼両方注文しましたが、ちょっと女性には量が多いかもしれません。私はひとつを朝昼に分けて食べるくらいでちょうど良いと感じました。おそらく状況によってできないこともあると思いますが、帰路に川に立ち寄って足を冷やさせてもらえたのがすごく良かったです。その後とても足取りが軽くなりました。ランチの時にお味噌汁を配っていただけたのもありがたかったです。ありがとうございました。

I requested canyoning and kayaking. Despite the last-minute booking, I was grateful for the flexibility in scheduling, such as splitting the activities over two days to ensure a great experience.
I thoroughly enjoyed canyoning in the dynamic rivers of Yakushima. It was breathtaking to see the waterfalls up close while navigating over rocks and through the river! It was a bit chilly in mid-May, but as long as I focused on the activity, it wasn't too bothersome (the good weather helped as well).
Kayaking was perfect for leisurely enjoying the beautiful nature as we slowly moved along the calm river! I participated in the morning session, and it was so pleasant that I almost fell asleep! They also provided SUP, so I got to enjoy both activities.
Mr. Tawaki shared interesting stories about Yakushima's nature and plants, as well as recommendations for shops, making for a wonderful experience beyond just the activities. They even took me to a hot spring, which was a fantastic way to unwind!
I will definitely request again when I visit Yakushima!

直前の申し込みだったのに、良い体験になるように二日に分けていただくなど、スケジュールなどとても柔軟に対応していただきありがたかったです。
沢登りは屋久島のダイナミックな川を思う存分に楽しめました。岩の上や川の中を進み滝を間近で見れた時は感動します！
5月中旬だったので少し寒かったですがアクティビティに集中していればそこまで気にならなかったです（天気も良かった面もあります）
カヤックは穏やかな川をゆっくり進むので、綺麗な自然をゆったり感じるには最高です！朝の会に参加しましたが、寝てしまいそうなくらい気持ちいいです！SUPも用意いただけたので二つも楽しめてしまいました。
田脇さんには屋久島の自然、植物の話、オススメのお店などなどお話も楽しくアクティビティ以外でも良い体験をさせていただきました。温泉にも連れて行っていただけて大満喫できます！

The balance was great, and I really enjoyed the forest. Monkeys and deer occasionally appeared right in front of us, allowing for close observation.
I opted for a rental plan this time. They brought the equipment the day before departure, and I was able to try on the sizes.

I have zero mountain climbing experience and consider myself not very fit, but I decided to go for it. (laughs)
Since the ascent and descent time for the Jomon Sugi course is limited, we had to maintain a steady pace. The trolley part was fine, but the mountain path was hard for beginners.
[Guide]
Our guide was Saito, a veteran who was born and raised in Yakushima. He was excellent.
He shared not only knowledge about the mountains and forests but also tips on photography.
He adjusted the pace of the tour and break timings while observing the situation of the climbing group to avoid crowded popular photo spots. Thanks to him, I was able to take beautiful pictures.
Additionally, before we started climbing the main mountain path, he assessed the climbing experience of the group members on a short trail and adjusted the order of ascent and descent.
[Equipment]
Wearing comfortable shoes that are slip-resistant on the mountain path is very important! If you don’t have any, I recommend renting climbing shoes instead of buying new ones.
I saw someone in their 20s who sprained their ankle wearing sneakers on the day.

登山経験ゼロ、体力もないほうと思いますが、思い切り申し込みました。笑
縄文杉コースの上下山時間が制限されているため、どうしても一定な進行ペースを保たないといけません。トロッコの部分は大丈夫でしたが、山道は初心者にとってハードでした。
[ガイドさん]
サイトウさんという屋久島生まれ育ちのベテランガイドさんでした。とても良かったです。
山や森の知識もちろん、撮影方法ま教えてもらいました。
当時登山グループの状況を見ながら、人気撮影スポットの込み具合を避けて、ツアーのペースや休憩タイミングを調整してました。おかげ様で、きれいな写真を撮れました。
また、本番山道登る前に、短い山道で当日メンバーの山登り経験を見極めて、上下山の並び順を調整してました。
[装備]
履き慣れて、山道でもすべりにくいがとても大事です！持ってない場合、新しく買うより、レンタルの登山靴がおすすめです。
当日スニーカーで捻挫した20代の方が見かけました。
レインウェアあっても、折り畳み傘が必要です。雨のとき、露天でお弁当食べるとき用…笑
[その他]
ホテル:色んなところの迎えや、お弁当の受け取りなど含め、あれこれ１時間以上かかります。早朝結構早いので、少しでも多く寝たい方は安房のホテルがいいと思います。

It seems that the guides had discussions among themselves and organized the groups by targeting specific age ranges. They made sure that I, being the oldest, could walk right behind the guide. Thanks to that consideration, I was able to reach Jomon Sugi safely. I am grateful to have encountered Jomon Sugi, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. There was some discord within the group, as there seemed to be a complainer who had misunderstood things.

The weather forecast predicted rain. Yakushima is mostly rainy throughout the year. With low expectations, I packed my rain gear and boarded the high-speed ferry. Upon arriving at the port, while walking to my accommodation, I received a reassuring call from the person in charge confirming the meeting time, location, and items to bring.
The next morning, a bus arrived at 4 AM to pick us up, but it was fully booked due to Golden Week. As soon as I sat down, the guide greeted us. He was very experienced and seemed to know everything about Yakushima, answering any questions we had with confidence.
We walked 8 kilometers along the tracks of the trolley train from the trailhead, and the guide's stories about Yakushima's nature, history, and the characteristics of the Yakusugi trees were continuous and informative. The walking pace was adjusted for beginners, which minimized fatigue. Thanks to that, I was able to finally meet the Jomon Sugi. We hardly encountered any rain, and occasionally we could see blue skies. Thank you for a truly wonderful memory.
天気予報は雨。1年のほとんどは雨の屋久島。あまり期待せず、雨具をカバンに入れて高速船に乗りました。港に到着し、宿まで歩いている途中に担当の方から、集合時間と場所、持ち物の確認の電話があり、とても安心しました。

登山口からトロッコ列車の線路に沿って8キロ歩きましたが、ガイドさんのお話がほぼ絶えることなく続き、屋久島の自然、歴史、屋久杉の特徴など詳しく教えて頂きました。
歩くペースも初心者に合わせてくださったので疲れも最小限に済みました。おかげで念願の縄文杉に出会うことができました。雨にもほとんど降られることがなく、時々青空も見られました。本当にいい思い出をありがとうございました。

There were experienced hikers participating in the tour as well. It was spring break, the weather was great, and it was quite crowded, but the guide skillfully timed the photo opportunities and breaks. Even someone who doesn't usually exercise was able to complete the hike with some energy left.

Due to bad weather the day before, the road to the hiking trail was closed, but we managed to switch the dates for the Shiratani Unsuikyo and Jomon Sugi treks and were able to do both. The guide was very knowledgeable, and I learned a lot about Yakushima. Of course, the scenery was also amazing!

I was filled with anxiety as a near-beginner in mountain climbing, considering the early morning departure, the long hours of hiking, and the restroom situation. However, thanks to the guide's accurate advice and support, I was able to meet the impressive Jomon Sugi and return safely. The explanations about the history of Yakushima and the formation of its forests were clear and posed no problems. However, during the free talk, I was a bit disappointed by the guide's harsh tone and lack of refinement that came through at times. At one point during a break, the guide said, "This group isn't lively, so shall we move on?" and no one could respond, which made the atmosphere freeze. It seemed like the guide lacked the ability to engage and uplift the group. On the way back on the tram road, I could even hear the guide sighing from the back. It's such a shame for a tour of Jomon Sugi...
Additionally, while other tours had groups of 2 to 4 people, this tour had 8 participants. It was clear that the guide was struggling to manage the group. 屋久島の歴史や森の成り立ちなどの説明は分かりやすく特に問題ありませんでしたが、フリートークの際、節々に出てくるガイドさんのキツい口調や品のない態度に少しがっかりしました。休憩時に、「このグループは話が弾まないからもう行こうか」という発言もあり、誰ひとり返事ができず、空気が凍る。。。ガイドさん自身に場をまとめ盛り上げる力量がないのでは??帰りのトロッコ道では、後方からガイドさんのため息が聞こえる始末。せっかくの縄文杉ツアーなのに。。。
また、他のツアーが2〜4人で1グループだったのに対し、こちらのツアーは参加者8人。ガイドさんもまとめるのに苦労している様子がわかりました。
ガイドさんやメンバーは運に身を委ねるしかありませんし、相性もありますが、人次第で楽しくもつまらなくもなるのがツアーなのだと、痛感させられました。

The tour I participated in was packed into one day, covering must-see spots in Yakushima such as Shiratani Unsuikyo, which is said to be the model for Princess Mononoke, and Jomon Sugi.
While I was excited, I also had a lot of anxiety about whether I could keep up with the walking. However, thanks to Tsugimachi-san, a cheerful and knowledgeable guide who is even more informative than Siri, the tour turned out to be incredibly enjoyable and flew by, even for someone like me who wasn't very confident in my stamina.
I will never forget the taste of the tonjiru that Tsugimachi-san prepared for us along the way.
I was also truly impressed by the skill with which Tsugimachi-san took numerous photos at key points.

そのため、ワクワク半分の一方、歩ききれるか不安な気持ちも大きかったのですが、Siriより物知りで陽気なおじさんこと津曲さんによる絶妙なトークやガイドのおかげで体力に自信のなかった私でも本当に楽しくあっという間のツアーとなりました。
中でも、道中に津曲さんが準備してくれた豚汁の味が忘れられません。
また、津曲さんが要所要所で撮ってくれる数々の写真の上手さにも本当に感動しました。
