Reviews

Avoid such tours and use underground.

London traffic and road construction are so bad that we spent almost two hours getting from the Royal Mews to the Tower of London. At this rate it takes a day to ride full circle without getting off...........

FAQ

Q. Tell me about the Big Bus Tour of London?
A. Big Bus Tour is a sightseeing tour of London on an open-top double decker bus. An entertaining commentary is provided by live guides, and a recorded commentary is available in a choice of languages. You may hop on and off at any of the stops to visit London attractions and places of interest.

The hop-on, hop-off bus tour of London also includes a free cruise along the River Thames and a free Walking Tour. The tour also offers you a choice of a recorded commentary in a range of languages, or a live English commentary delivered by entertaining guides.
Q. What can I see and visit in London on this sightseeing tour?
A. There are many locations where you can hop on and off in London. Each stop has been selected because it provides access to a popular attraction or place of interest. You can hop on and off as many times as you wish and are of course welcome to stay on board for the entire circuit. Top places in London (and within walking distance to one of the London hop-on hop-off bus stops) include Tower of London, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Tower Bridge, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Downing Street and Buckingham Palace. The 'blue tour route' also offers stops close to Hyde Park, Knightsbridge (visit the famous Harrods Department Store!), Kensington (spend time at the famous London Natural History or Victoria and Albert Museums) or Notting Hill for Portobello Road and its amazing antique street market on Sundays.
Q. What time do the London hop-on hop-off tours start and how often do the buses run?
A. You can start the day tour at any time between 8.30am and 6pm. Tours run approximately every 10-20 minutes. Timings are subject to change, so please check with a member of staff on the day of travel for updated schedules.
Q. Where can I start the London Sightseeing Hop-on Hop-off Tour?
A. You can start your day tour at any of the ‘hop-on, hop-off’ points. The principal starting points for the tour are Baker Street Station, Marble Arch, Trafalgar Square, Green Park and Victoria Station.
Q. How long does the London Sightseeing Hop-on Hop-off Tour take?
A. A complete circuit of the live guided Red Route takes approximately 2.5 hours. A full circuit of Blue Route takes approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. A full circuit of the Orange Route takes 1.5 hours (45 minutes each way) and the Green Route takes approximately 1 hour. If you plan to hop on and off then please allow extra time.
Q. What languages are available for the on-board recorded commentary?
A. The hop-on hop-off sightseeing tour of London offers a recorded commentary of your choice in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, Mandarin and Russian. These languages have been carefully selected to ensure the tour is available to as many London visitors as possible. The commentary is delivered to you via complimentary earphones that you will receive when you board the London hop-on hop-off bus.
Q. What time are your first and last buses for the London Hop-on Hop-off Tour?
A. Generally, the first bus departs at 8:30am in the morning. Last bus times vary depending on the time of year. They are usually 16:30 in November to February, 17:00 in March and October, and 18:00 April to September.
Q. Do your London Hop-on Hop-off buses stop in front of Buckingham Palace?
A. No. Traditionally, buses are not allowed to stop in front of Buckingham Palace. They do, however, have a stop at the side of Buckingham Palace, where you can hop off the bus to take pictures.
Q. Are the London hop-on hop-off buses wheelchair accessible?
A. Yes, most of the buses are wheelchair accessible.
Q. Does the Hop-on Hop-off Tour include entrance to any of the London attractions?
A. No, with the exception of the Thames River Cruise. Entrance to attractions is not included in the ticket price.
Q. Where does the Thames River Cruise depart from and how long does the trip take?
A. Your London hop-on hop-off ticket includes a free Thames River Cruise. The ticket enables you to hop-on and off any of the river boat services operated by our partners, City Cruises. Thames River Cruise departs from Tower Pier, Waterloo Pier or Westminster Pier, and takes approximately 30 minutes.

The river cruise includes live commentary and enables you to see the sights of London from a different angle. Tower Bridge, HMS Belfast, Shakespeare's Globe and the Tate Modern Art Gallery are just some of the famous highlights that line the riverside.

If you have purchased a 1 day ticket, you can travel on the Thames between Westminster Pier and the Tower of London. If you have purchased a 2 or 3 day ticket, the free River Thames cruise also offers you the chance to travel all the way to Greenwich and explore the National Maritime Museum and the Greenwich Royal Observatory. No matter how many times you tour the Thames river, you'll always enjoy the sights and appreciate this unique view of London.

The river cruise departure times vary, but are approximately every 20 minutes in the summer and every 30-40 minutes in the winter. You can board the river cruise at Tower Pier, Westminster Pier or Waterloo Pier, however, please check with our staff on your day of travel.
Q. What is the free walking tour?
A. The tour will lead you from Trafalgar Square to Horseguard's Parade, taking in Carlton Gardens, the Mall and St James’ Park along the way, giving you access to areas which you can’t visit by bus. Your tour guide will share historical facts and fascinating stories about the area and its famous residences, explain the function of Horseguard’s Parade, and give you insight into the function of the Royal Family in modern British democracy.

On days when there is a Changing of the Guard, your guide will walk you directly to Buckingham Palace to see this traditional ceremony for yourself before completing a short tour back to Trafalgar Square.

Tours begin at 10:30am daily from Stop #9: Trafalgar Square. Tours last approximately 90 minutes.
