I traveled alone to Kushiro and booked a business hotel for two nights right in front of the station. On the second day, since I had plenty of time, I thought it would be a waste to just wander around Kushiro, so I looked for a sightseeing tour and found this one.

It was a tour that visited the three major lakes: Lake Mashu, Lake Kussharo, and Lake Akan, departing from Kushiro, just as I had hoped. Although there were many foreign tourists, about half of the participants were Japanese. Overall, I found it to be a reassuring tour that was more than satisfying for a solo traveler.

I would like to share my experience of the tour. At the first stop, Tsurumidai, I was moved to see many red-crowned cranes up close. It was great to witness them take off as well. The red-crowned crane soft serve ice cream recommended by the guide looked like a crane and was very delicious.

As we approached Lake Mashu, the weather changed from sunny to a snowstorm, and unfortunately, we couldn't see the mysterious Lake Mashu. However, the Mashu Blue soft serve ice cream recommended by the guide at the rest area was tasty.

For lunch, I had a pork bowl bento at the Mashu Onsen roadside station, which was very delicious. At Iouzan, as soon as I got off the bus, I was hit by the strong smell of sulfur. There were fumaroles rising from various spots on the mountain, and while you could get relatively close to them, some areas were quite snowy and difficult to walk through. The guide's recommended steamed eggs made with sulfur hot springs were piping hot and delicious.

At Lake Akan, we had an hour of free time. It was no surprise, but I was amazed to see that the entire large lake was frozen. I debated whether to go for smelt fishing, ride a snowmobile, or do some shopping, but in the end, I chose to ride a snowmobile and then enjoyed some tempura smelt at a shop afterward. Riding the snowmobile on the frozen lake was very comfortable, and the freshly fried smelt was incredibly delicious.

With a little time left, I bought some marimo as a souvenir. I felt that snow boots were essential around the three major lakes, as the snow was deep everywhere.

On the day of the tour, the roads were snowy and icy, but thanks to the skilled driving of our driver, I felt safe riding along. The beautiful bus guide was also very easy to listen to and explained everything well. Thank you very much for your hospitality. If I have the chance to go to Kushiro again, I will definitely use this tour again.

何と希望通りの釧路発摩周湖、屈斜路湖、阿寒湖3大湖を巡るツアーでした。
外国人の方が多いとのことでしたが日本の方も半分ぐらいいました。
全体の感想としては、一人旅でも十分満足のできる安心のツアーでした。
ネタバレになりますが、ツアーの体験談を書きたいと思います。
最初に訪れた鶴見台では間近に多くのタンチョウが見れて感動しました。さらに飛び立つ瞬間も見れてたのでよかったです。
ガイドさんおすすめのタンチョウソフトクリームは見た目がタンチョウになっていて味もとても美味しかったです。
摩周湖方面に近づくと晴れから一転して吹雪になり、残念ながら神秘の摩周湖を見ることができませんでしたが、休憩所で食べたガイドさんおすすめの摩周ブルーのソフトクリームは美味しかったです。
お昼休憩は道の駅摩周温泉で豚丼弁当をいただきましたがとても美味しかったです。
硫黄山ではバスを降りた途端、硫黄の臭いが鼻にツンときました。山のあちこちで噴煙が上がっており、割と間近まで見に行けますが、かなり雪深いので歩くのが困難な箇所がありました。硫黄の温泉で作られたガイドさんおすすめの温泉蒸したまごはアツアツで美味しかったです。
ラストの阿寒湖ではフリータイムが1時間ありました。当たり前なのてすが、大きな湖がすべて凍っていてびっくりしました。
わかさぎ釣りかスノーモービルをするか買い物をするかか迷いましたが、結局、スノーモービルをしたあと、お店でわかさぎの天ぷらを食べました。氷のはった湖の上を走るスノーモービルはとても快適でした。また、揚げたてのわかさぎは最
高に美味しかったです。
残り少し時間があったのでマリモをお土産を買いました。
3大湖周辺はどこも雪が深いのでスノーブーツが必須だと感じました。
当日は雪道やアイスバーンの道でしたが安心して乗ってられるほど上手な運転をしていただいたドライバーさんと、話しがとても聞きやすく説明が上手な美人バスガイドさん、お世話になりどうもありがとうございました。
また釧路へ行く機会があれば次も絶対利用させていただきます。

What seemed like just a lake tour turned out to be quite enjoyable, as each lake had its own unique features—some were frozen, some had swans, and some were shrouded in mist (like Lake Mashu).

I also learned for the first time during my visit that there was a winter festival at the frozen lake (I can't remember the name, maybe Lake Akan?), where I spontaneously rode a buggy (I went around twice!) and had fun on a banana boat. They were also doing smelt fishing. By the way, I received a discount coupon in the car, but it couldn't be used for the ticket I purchased.

The guide provided various information, and the scenery along the way was beautiful, so I never felt bored.

At Showa Shinzan, sulfur was blowing out from various spots on the snowy mountains, and it was quite charming to walk on the untouched new snow to get a closer look.

The temperature was below minus 10°C, but I didn't feel cold either inside the car or outside.

Some swans are used to people, so if you say "hello" and bow your head, some will bow back in greeting. (I think it was at Lake Mashu?)

I highly recommend this tour to enjoy winter in Eastern Hokkaido! I traveled alone, but I had an incredibly fun time!

単なる湖めぐりと思いきや、湖も三者(湖)三様で凍っているのもあり、白鳥がいるのもあり、霧がかっているのもあり(摩周湖)で楽しめました。

また実際に行って初めて知りましたが、凍っている湖(名前失念。阿寒湖？)では冬祭りをやっていて、急遽バギーに乗ったり(1周単位で2周しました！)、バナナボートでも楽しみました。わかさぎ釣りもやっていましたよ。
ちなみに車内で割引券をもらいましたが、私が買ったチケットには使えなかったです。

ガイドさんが色々案内してくれるし、途中の景色はきれいなので退屈しません。

昭和新山では雪山の所々から硫黄が吹き出ていて、足跡のついていない新雪を踏んで近くまで見に行くのもまた風情がありました。

気温はマイナス10℃以下でしたが、車内・屋外共に寒さを感じませんでした。

白鳥は人慣れしているコもいるので、「こんにちは。」と頭を下げると、こんにちは。と首を下げて挨拶してくれるコもいますよ。(摩周湖だったかな？)

冬の道東を楽しむツアーとして、ぜひおすすめします！
ひとり旅でしたが、相当楽しかったです！

On August 9, 2019, I participated with my 84-year-old mother. While the bad weather was unavoidable, it was still disappointing. At the first stop, Lake Mashu, it was unfortunate that the strong winds broke our umbrella. At the final stop, Lake Akan, it was good that the bus guide and the driver cooperated to pick up a foreign guest who was late for the meeting time (they seemed to have been waiting about 200 meters ahead). I hope they can come up with creative solutions in preparation for the Rugby World Cup and the Olympics (those heading to the airport must have been anxious).

天候が悪いのは仕方ないですが、やっぱり残念です。
最初の立ち寄り地の摩周湖で、強風のため、傘も壊れるなど残念でした。
最終立ち寄り地の阿寒湖で集合時刻に間に合わなかった(200mほど先で待っていたみたい)外国の方をバスガイドさんとドライバーの方が協力して一回りしてピックアップしたのは良かったです。ラグビーワールドカップやオリンピックに向けて、工夫して対応して欲しいですね(空港に寄る人はドキドキだった)。

I used this tour for a solo trip. Since I was taking a JAL flight in the evening around 8 PM, I arranged to transfer to the "Akan Airport Liner" departing at 4:50 PM. The guide was very kind and showed me to the bus center, where I was able to store my luggage. Thanks to that, I had more than an hour and a half of free time instead of the usual two hours, allowing me to have a meal, take a stroll, and enjoy a hot spring around Lake Akan. By the way, I used a coupon I received when exchanging my ticket, which allowed me to enter the hot spring at a discount. Additionally, I was very lucky to see several wild red-crowned cranes, foxes, and wild deer during the scenic bus ride.

帰りは夜20時台のJAL便を利用するため、16：50発の「阿寒エアポートライナー」に乗り換えることにしてもらいました。ガイドさんはとても親切な方でバスセンターまで案内してくれて、荷物もバスセンターに預けてもらいました。おかげで通常プランの2時間より１時間半以上のフリータイムをもらい、阿寒湖周辺で食事したり、散策したり、温泉に入ったりすることができました。ちなみに、チケット交換の際にもらったクーポンを利用したら、温泉は安く入れます。また、今回は車窓観光で野生の丹頂鶴数羽、キツネ、野生の鹿なども見られてとてもラッキーでした。

Although Lake Mashu wasn't clear, I'm glad I could see its shape. At Lake Akan, it's possible to get off the bus to take a sightseeing boat and then return to Kushiro by regular bus.

Hokkaido Crane Viewing Taxi Transfer from Kushiro

Convenient way to get close to the main viewing spots

The taxi driver was early and already waiting when I arrived from my train from Shiretoko. Visited the Kushiro Marsh Observatory (1st place to go), Otowabashi roosting grounds (3rd), Tsuruimidai (2nd) and Tancho Observation Center (4th) feeding grounds. Roughly 20 min trip from station and back from the first/last places to visit. Overall a very good daytrip and highly recommend if you want a convenient way of getting around the main to-go viewing crane spots.

Driver provided quite a bit of information about the itinerary/birds/places via translation through mobile app. For birders, I would advise to stay as little time in the observatory and try to time your departure with the feeding times at the feeding grounds (which are done around 9:00 and 14:00, in the two feeding centers above), as the birds mostly leave elsewhere once the food runs out (the Tancho observation center seem to have a larger pack). Also, you may see cranes while you are moving around in the taxi. I did not see any cranes in the roosting grounds as I was told by the driver the birds go out to eat early in the morning, and return only after eating, around sunset.

One of the things I was looking forward to was seeing Lake Kussharo from Bihoro Pass, but it wasn't included in this tour. I didn't look closely at the itinerary, so it's my fault, but I really hope they include it even if it means raising the tour price.

美幌峠から、屈斜路湖を見るのがたのしみのひとつだったが、このツアーにはふくまれていなかった。詳しくコースを見ていなかったので、しょうがないが、ツアー代を上げてもぜひ含めて欲しい。

After seeing the tour reviews, my husband and I decided to sign up. The duration at each location was just right—not too short and not too long. For the return trip from Akan to Kushiro Airport/city, we were able to switch to a route bus according to each participant's itinerary and flight preferences, which I thought was a very thoughtful and kind plan. (It seems that there is a shuttle service for those staying in Akan.)

Regarding the wetlands, my husband and I felt that we could see them beautifully from a better angle than on the Norokko train. During our free time in Akan, we were able to relax in the hot springs at the New Akan Hotel's Sky Garden Spa while enjoying a magnificent view of nature and the lake, which was truly healing.

The guide and driver were also very pleasant, making this bus tour highly recommended!

コースは、各所の滞在時間が短かすぎず長すぎずちょうどよかったですし、阿寒から釧路空港/市内までの復路は、それぞれの参加者の行程や飛行機など希望にあわせて路線バスに乗り換えることもでき、非常に親切で考え抜かれたプランだと思いました。
（阿寒宿泊者は、ホテルまでの送迎があるようです）

湿原に関しては、ノロッコ号より、よい角度から美しくみることができたというのが夫婦の感想です。また阿寒のフリータイムでは、ニュー阿寒ホテルの天空ガーデンスパで雄大な自然と湖を一望しながら温泉に入ることができ、大自然に癒されて帰ってきました。

ガイドさん、運転手さんも感じがよく、オススメのバスツアーです！

It was my first solo trip to Kushiro, and since I don't have a driver's license, I was looking for a good tour to explore the area. After enjoying the view of Kushiro Wetland from the car window, I was able to visit Lake Mashu, Lake Kussharo, Iouzan, and Sunayu, fully immersing myself in nature. ♡

I thought the time at each point might be short, but in reality, there was enough time to peek into souvenir shops and take a little break to enjoy some snacks. (^^)

I was able to tour with another solo traveler, which made for a very enjoyable experience. The guide also shared stories about the history and culture of each place, making it fun even for those traveling alone. ♡

We were able to see wild Ezo deer here and there, and everyone was really excited. (laughs) Thank you so much!

はじめての釧路ひとり旅でしたが、車の免許がないため、あちこち見てまわるのに良いツアーは無いか探していました。
釧路湿原を車窓から眺めた後、摩周湖、屈斜路湖、硫黄山、砂湯などをまわることができて、大自然を満喫できました♡

The cute bus guide kindly showed us around. When we finally arrived at Lake Mashu, the sun peeked through the clouds, and we could see Nakanojima clearly. A chipmunk also showed its face. At Lake Akan, we took a stroll along the lakeside and enjoyed the nature.

I am satisfied that I can visit important locations such as Lake Mashu, Lake Kussharo, and Lake Akan. When taking a sightseeing boat at Lake Akan, although I may not make it in time for the bus, there is a system in place that allows me to catch the next scheduled boat, which shows consideration. It seems that there is also coordination for luggage, making it a plan that allows for plenty of enjoyment.

I wanted to see Lake Mashu at least once, so I took the trip. I had planned to go from Kushiro to Lake Mashu and then to Lake Akan by JR train or local bus, but it was difficult to transfer due to time constraints. When I departed, Kushiro was cloudy, and the bus was driving through fog. I thought I wouldn't be able to see Lake Mashu because of the fog, but luckily it cleared up quickly. It was mystical and wonderful. I also got to see Iouzan up close, and the smell of sulfur was strong. Although Lake Kussharo and Lake Akan were also cloudy, I was glad to see them up close. I would like to go again.

Due to the rain, I couldn't tell where Lake Mashu was, and while I was taking pictures of the squirrels, I had given up. Suddenly, the mist cleared, and I could see the lake and the island. After taking some photos, it quickly became hidden by the mist again. The guide's explanations were also great.

雨で、摩周湖も、何処が湖か、判らず、栗鼠の写真を撮って、諦めていたら、スーっと、霧が晴れて、湖も島も見えて、写真を撮ったら、又、直ぐに、霧に隠れた。ガイドの説明も良かった。
