I have visited Kyoto many times before, but this was my first time using a hop-on, hop-off sightseeing bus. Unlike my younger days of walking everywhere, this experience was free from the crowds of city buses, and the simple schedule of every 30 minutes was easy to understand and accurate.

Above all, the view from the second floor was uplifting. It felt like an event just being on the bus, with passersby waving at us, the chance to see the traditional townhouses of Kyoto from above, and even passing just under the gates of temples.

I started from a bus stop along the route, and the staff's response during boarding was smooth and courteous. At the Kiyomizu-dera bus stop, a staff member approached me (perhaps because I was holding a bus brochure?) and provided ticket checks and information about the service, much like a station attendant would do on a train.

I initially thought the reservation might be a bit pricey, but every staff member was very kind, making it a reassuring option for travelers who often find themselves lost in unfamiliar places. As a repeat visitor to Kyoto, I found this bus experience to be a refreshing way to enjoy the city.

途中のバス停からのスタートでしたが、乗車時のスタッフの方の対応もスムーズで丁寧でした。
清水寺のバス停では、バス停常駐のスタッフの方から私に声をかけて下さり、（バスのパンフレットを手にしていたから？）鉄道でいうなら駅員さんのように、検札や運行案内をして頂きました。
連れていた子供には、文具のプレゼントまでして頂きました。
予約時には少々値が張るかと思っていましたが、
どのスタッフの方もよくして下さり、旅先で何かと不案内なことの多い旅行者には、安心して利用できて良いのではと思いました。
京都リピーターの私も、今回のバスは新鮮な楽しみ方ができて良かったと思いました。

Only we participated from Kyoto, but the tour guide we met at the station was very kind. We headed to Fushimi Inari Shrine by train and met up with participants who came by bus from Osaka. Out of the 35 participants, about 30 were from abroad. The guide showed us the famous sights of Kyoto at a comfortable pace, making it a very fulfilling day. I would like to participate again if there is another opportunity. Thank you very much.

I was worried about COVID-19 and debated participating until the day before, but I'm glad I joined. There were only 10 participants, but thanks to the guide's attentive guidance, everyone seemed relaxed and enjoyed themselves. I participated alone, but with the guide's assistance and the opportunity to take photos at each sightseeing spot, I was able to capture many pictures. Additionally, receiving advice on angles during photo shoots was very helpful.

At Kiyomizu-dera, the roof replacement work was completed, allowing us to enjoy the beautiful stage. I signed up for the tour with lunch included. The restaurant was near Kiyomizu-dera, and from there, I could enjoy a panoramic view of Kyoto. The lunch, which included yudofu, was also very delicious.

The stroll through the bamboo grove in Arashiyama was enjoyable as I listened to the guide's stories and chatted with fellow tour members while exploring the sights. It was a very enjoyable day. Thank you, guide!

参加人数は10名と少ない人数でしたが、ガイドさんの丁寧な案内で、皆さんリラックスして楽しんでいる雰囲気でした。
私は１人での参加でしたが、ガイドさんの案内や各観光地において写真撮影していただいたお陰で沢山の写真が取れました。また、写真撮影時アングルのアドバイスも頂けたのはとても良かったです。
清水寺は屋根の葺き替え工事が終わり美しい舞台を望むことが出来ました。私は今回お昼付きで申し込みました。場所は清水寺近くのレストラン、そちらのお店から京都を一望できる景色を楽しむことも出来ました。ランチも湯豆腐を頂くことが出来そちらもとても美味しかったです。嵐山での竹林散策もガイドさんのお話を聞きながら、また同じツアーメンバーの方々ともお話ししながら観光地を巡れました。とても楽しい1日でした。ガイドさんありがとうございました。

My husband and I only had a day to spend in Kyoto and we looked into day tours but most only took you to two sites. The hop on hop off bus was a great solution. It took us to all the major sites and we get to see way more in 1 day then we would have otherwise. The bus station stop by Kyoto station was easy to find and the other stations were well marked. Staff was friendly and even let us know if certain buildings were closed due to coral virus. When it started to rain we received a poncho as we were getting off the bus and the next bus we got on was enclosed. After the rain stopped we go on an open roof bus and the staff even came up to wipe down any seats that might still be wet. Totally worth it if you only have a short amount of time in Kyoto

I participated in this tour because I thought I could cover all the places I wanted to visit in Kyoto in just one day. Although Kyoto was less crowded than usual, I was able to explore at a very leisurely pace despite the packed itinerary.

There were eight people on the tour (apparently, there are usually more), and everyone except me was a foreigner. Therefore, it was noted during the reservation that "an English-speaking guide will be on board," but there was only one guide who mainly spoke in English. However, the guide was a veteran with a wealth of knowledge, and their English was easy to understand and interesting (of course, they also provided explanations in Japanese). Even though I participated alone, they took many photos for me.

My first experience in Kyoto was very satisfying!

ほぼ初めての京都で、１日で自分の行ってみたい名所を網羅できそうだったので参加しました。
京都自体通常に比べて空いていたということもありますが、盛りだくさんの内容の割にはとてもゆっくり回ることができました。

We really enjoyed the double decker bus. The city is beautiful and we never would have had the chance to see as much as we did on our own. The staff were super amazing at the bus pick up. My son and I even got back on the bus just to ride around the city after we stopped at so many amazing shrines.
The only drawback was (and this has nothing to do with the tour company) is that most of the places were closed to visitors due to Covid-19.
I would definitely recommend this company to anyone interested in getting a more general perspective of the city.

We boarded the bus in Namba, and there were about 10 people on the day of the tour. The guide was very easy to understand, providing information in both Japanese and English. We visited various attractions, and it was very quiet, allowing us to take our time exploring. I'm really glad I participated. I think this is a hidden gem during this time. I participated in this tour for the first time to visit the main attractions in Kyoto. Since it was early March, the open-top bus was cold, but they provided us with hand warmers, which helped us cope with the chill! The open design and height of the bus made it great for viewing the streets of Kyoto.

Although you can hop on and off freely for a day (24 hours), if you miss a bus, you have to wait 30 minutes, and the service is limited to 9 AM to 5 PM, which makes the actual number of rides quite few. I felt the price was a bit high. If you want to take your time exploring the tourist spots, I think it would be more efficient to use a bus or taxi for transportation.

When I was running to catch the bus and almost missed it, they waited for me, which I appreciated and felt their kindness.

京都の主要な場所をまわるということで、初めてこちらのツアーに参加させていただきました。
3月の初めだったので、オープントップバスは寒かったのですが、乗る際にホッカイロをくださったので寒さも乗り切れました！オープンで高さがあるので京都の街並みを見るにはいいかなと思います。

At Kiyomizu-dera for lunch, there wasn't enough time, and I couldn't relax. On the other hand, the time at Kinkaku-ji was short, which was fine.

We have visited Kyoto many times as a couple, but we were unaware of the existence of this hop-on-hop-off sightseeing bus. We toured places like Kinkaku-ji, Kyoto Gyoen, and the grave of Murasaki Shikibu. Because of the current season, we were able to take our time and enjoy the sights. We also visited the smallest karesansui (dry landscape garden) in Japan, the Higashitakubo at Daitoku-ji Ryogen-in, which left us in awe with its beautiful stone garden in such a small space. The bus was equipped with hand sanitizer gel, ensuring proper infection control measures were in place. The deck of the Sky Hop Bus was wonderfully breezy during our travels, making it the best experience. I want to go again.

I used it for the first time! While I watched the city bus stop overflowing with people, I enjoyed a very comfortable bus journey here as it was quite empty. At the beginning, we were each given headphones, and when connected to the guide installed in our seats, information about our destinations was provided, which was great. Most of the passengers were foreigners, so in a way, I didn't have to worry about anything and could relax freely! However, I think it's better to dress warmly as you feel the wind directly during the cold season. I always rely on Veltra for great deals during my travels. Thank you for your continued support!

It was a great tour that allowed us to see a good amount of Kyoto in just one day. My spouse and I, along with my parents, participated as a group of four, and I think this tour would be very convenient for those who find it troublesome to arrange transportation like trains and buses on their own. The flow of the tour was smooth, and we were able to stick to the schedule without any delays, which was wonderful! I would love to join this tour again if the opportunity arises.

We usually work as guides, so we thought it would be nice to be on the receiving end of a tour for a change! We participated in the tour with that mindset. Both the tour guide and the driver were friendly, which made for a really enjoyable time.

Aside from the two of us, everyone else was a traveler from abroad, and at first, we felt a bit out of place. However, the guidance in both English and Japanese was very educational. Traveling by bus was convenient, and we were able to try the food we were curious about and enjoy some drinks, which left us very satisfied!

私達は、普段案内する側の仕事なのでせっかく旅行するなら案内される側もいいのでは？っという思いでツアーに参加させて頂きました！
添乗員さんも運転手さんも気さくな方だったのですごく楽しい時間を過ごせました。

I visited with my high school daughter and 5-year-old son. Since we couldn't cover everything individually, I was glad to join the tour. About 90% of the participants were foreigners, but the explanations in both Japanese and English were easy to understand. It was a satisfying tour.

I was disappointed that Kiyomizu-dera was under exterior renovation. I was really looking forward to it, so I wish they would include notices about ongoing construction in the remarks section. I had heard that punctuality was important, but someone arrived late for the meeting time, which disrupted the tour. I hope that those who cannot be punctual will join by taxi or other means.

This was my first trip to Kyoto. I wanted to visit famous tourist spots like Kinkaku-ji, Kiyomizu-dera, and Fushimi Inari, so I booked this tour that included two of them in the route. It was great that Nijo Castle and Heian Shrine were also on the route, allowing me to visit those as well.

One of the deciding factors was that I would receive a bus ticket to Fushimi Inari, which is not on the route, but this turned out to be quite a challenge. First, the location of the bus stop was difficult for tourists to find. I asked the Sky Hop Bus staff where the bus stop was, and they gave me a vague answer, saying, "I think it's over there." It turned out to be completely wrong. Even when I went to the bus information center, they said they didn't know where it was (I mentioned that the ticket said 6A, but they told me, "There is no 6A"). Just when I thought I finally found it, I discovered that the bus only comes once an hour, and I had just missed it by five minutes. In the end, I had to return to Kyoto Station and take a train to Fushimi Inari. It's not useful to give a bus ticket to tourists who have no sense of direction for a bus that only locals use. I think more consideration is needed.

The Sky Hop Bus itself isn't bad, but considering it only goes around a relatively small area for 3,600 yen, I feel it's a bit expensive. While the double-decker bus allows for enjoying the scenery, it may be good for foreigners, but there’s hardly any reason for Japanese people to choose this bus.

初めての京都旅行でした。有名な観光地である金閣寺、清水寺、伏見稲荷には行きたいと思い、そのうちの２つがルートにあったこちらを予約させて頂きました。二条城と平安神宮もルートにあったのでついでに行けたのは良かったです。
ルートにはない伏見稲荷に行くバスチケットも貰えるとの事だったのでそれも決め手の１つだったのですが、これが大変でした。まずこのバスの停留所の場所が観光客にはわかりにくい。スカイホップバスのスタッフさんにバス停の場所を聞いたのですが、「多分あちらだと思います」と言う曖昧な回答。しかも全く違う場所でした。バスの総合案内所に行ってもわからないと言われる程でした(チケットに６Ａとありましたので、それを伝えましたが「６Ａなんてないですよ」と言われた)。やっとの思いで見つけたと思ったら、なんとそのバスが1時間に一回しか来ず、私が見つけた時は5分前に出発した後でした。結局京都駅に戻って電車に乗って伏見稲荷まで行くはめになりました。土地勘のない観光客に地元の人しか乗らないようなバスのチケットを渡されても使いようがありません。もう少し配慮が必要だと思います。
スカイホップバス自体は悪くはないですが、そんなに広くない範囲をくるっと周るだけで3600円という事を考えるとちょっと高いと感じます。
二階建てバスで景観を楽しめるので、外国人にはいいかもしれないですが、日本人がこのバスに選ぶ意味はほぼないですね。
