Lovely day bus and train trip (cancelled boat ride due to weather)
Reviewed by: Ellen, 2024/04/06The tour guide was lovely. She didn’t speak much English but she had a book of phrases she needed to tell us written out so we knew what was going on. The bus ride had an English audio guide which was generally interesting. The train was beautiful, and the scenery was amazing. The boat trip was unfortunately cancelled due to the heavy rain the day before, so we had a long coach journey instead. The bamboo forest was incredible but very busy so if you want quiet maybe go by yourself instead of on a tour. we had three hours at Arashyama which was actually perfect, if we’d had a boat trip too it would have only been an hour which would have been too short!

Great Tour to see three of the most popular sights.
Reviewed by: David Seaton, 2019/12/05Finding the starting point was easy as it was very easy to see at the train station. It was nice that there were translations available as one of us spoke English and the other spoke Chinese. Despite rainy weather the tour was great. The tour obviously runs on a schedule so lingering to meditate will not work. There was enough time to follow the trails and get a number of photos but be aware that there will be crowds as these are very popular tourist places. This is an easy way to see the temples and to avoid numerous train and subway changes.

Great tour, could have better meeting sites
Reviewed by: Ali , 2019/04/21This tour begins at the Saga-Arashiyama station and ends in Arashiyama. However, the meeting location is at the Kyoto station, approx. 35 min away by train. As guests at the Suiran Kyoto in Arashiyama, it was discouraging to travel the distance for this tour. Suggestion...It would be nice for those staying in Arashiyama to have the opportunity to meet at the tour departure station...the Saga-Arashiyama. As for the tour itself, our family had a fun and exciting time!

Perfect timing to see the sakura trees in full bloom.

Crowds and delays
Reviewed by: Maile, 2018/11/27The positives: bus transportation and pre-paid access into shrines and temples. The negatives: It was initially described as a Fall excursion but it was more like a highlights tour. They did not address any of the autumn trees or traditions for that time of year. Because of the Fall season is so popular, all of the places were very crowded, leading to a near race at each site just to get there and back in time for the bus. It also lead to a more than one hour delayed return, which, to be fair, they said might happen, but an update as the day progressed would have been better than announcing it at the tail end of a long day. We had plans to get back to JR station by a certain time so we had to depart the bus early and catch our own cab ride back which cost nearly $40.

The English translation device, which is available on the bus, only worked for the journey to the Kinkakuji Temple. After that there was no English explanation of where we we going or what we were seeing. Pity!

Despite rain great tour

On the day of the tour we were not able to print out our vouchers as it was requested in the booking. yet, the colleagues from the office made it possible for us to change the date for our tour and forward our booking to the service provider.
The day of the tour was a greyish and rainy one. Hot green tea and blankets made our stay on board very comfortable. We enjoyed the tour (used English translation).

Quick Open Top Tour
Reviewed by: Michelle W. , 2018/01/07This was the second tour that my husband and I booked using Veltra. The app is so easy to use. I was sitting in the hotel lobby waiting to go to our train. In less than 20 minutes we found a tour for Kyoto, purchased and confirmed tickets. The quality of tour that Veltra books for is consistent. We like that we can search for tours in English or that have English support. The open top bus company went above and beyond. The weather the day of our tour in Kyoto was weird. The day started with a mix of snow/hail which transitioned to full sun only to be followed by torrential downpour. We decided to go ahead a brave the 1.5 hour tour anyway, justifying that rain is only water and we could very easily dry off or change to dry clothes if we really need to. Veltra provided clear directions on our ticket confirmation for where to find the correct bus terminal. The Open Sky Bus tour guides greeted us at the bus terminal and were very friendly. They gave us ear buds for the English audio for the tour. As we entered the bus we were given rain ponchos, hot green tea, and instant hand warmers. This was amazing service and something that really made the tour. Even though it was cold, the sun came out and it ceased raining. The hot drinks and hand warmers really eased the cold of our January tour. Seat numbers were assigned. Knowing this now, I wish I would've asked the ticket counter if could have the seats in the very front of the bus. We had great views of some amazing sites in Kyoto. We felt like we got a great highlights or best-of tour. The audio had great music between talking bits. The information in the audio provided great history and insight into the city of Kyoto. It gave us some great ideas about which places we wanted to go back and visit. As it was our time in town was limited, so after the tour we actually took a local train down to Fushimi Inari shrine, which is not included in the tour, but a quick two-stop local train ride.

便利です
Reviewed by: わんこ, 2017/07/18ある方が上賀茂神社～下鴨神社～清水寺方面に回られてる体験談を見て、かつ京都は一方通行が多いので、車よりも自転車の方が便利かも、と思ってレンタルしました。
11時に京都駅を出発して、12時過ぎに上賀茂神社へ。若干坂があるので時間掛かりましたが、上賀茂神社～下鴨神社はすぐでした。それからお茶やさんの通りを通ったり休憩しながら15時過ぎに伏見稲荷大社に到着。
あちこち裏道を通ったりして、夕立に合いましたがかおりに引き寄せられ素敵な香専門店を見つけたり楽しめました。18時にはお店に返却出来ました。京都は自転車マークが舗道に書いてあるし、四条で自転車乗り入れ禁止区域がありますが、そう言った簡易地図もいただけます。
次回もまたレンタルしたいです。

なんて便利！京都を疾走♪
Reviewed by: とこもん, 2016/11/29ママチャリタイプだったのと、本体に少しキズがあったので、「見た目からして気分アゲアゲ」とはいきませんでしたが（笑）、メンテナンスが行き届いているので、走りごこちは最高！12時から19時まで、京都市街を縦横無尽に走り回って、行きたい場所を効率よく回れたのは爽快でした。中でも痛快だったのは、18時まで南禅寺のさらに奥、永観堂で紅葉ライトアップを堪能してから、一気に京都をかけ下って、45分で京都駅の返却ターミナルにつけたこと。方向音痴なワタシでも、碁盤の目状の京都なら【自転車】に限ります！紅葉シーズンのためか、私の利用した1day1300円のプランは当日、全車貸出中だったので、事前に予約しておいて本当に良かったです。夜行バスで帰る身としては、少しでも散策時間を長くしたいので、欲を言えば19:00まででなく、20:00までのプランがあると嬉しいですねぇ。

Top 3 temples in one day
Reviewed by: Savvy808, 2015/06/03There are so many temples in Kyoto but this tour took us to the 3 temples I wanted to see and the guide also pointed out all the temples along the way from the bus. It was just enough stops to maintain my 13 year old daughter's interest without getting bored. Audio headset for English and other languages were only used in the bus so we couldn't understand the guide's explanation at all the stops, which was disappointing to us and the rest of the non-Japanese speaking people on our tour. The time spent at each stop was perfect with enough time to quickly browse through the shops and try popular snacks sold near the temples. We received small omiyage or souvenirs from each temple which was a nice surprise! Although it's a ways down a lot of steps, you should take the time to drink the water flowing down 3 channels to a fountain at Kiyomizudera. They say it has wish granting powers for love, academic success and longevity. This was a great tour but would've been perfect if it was in English!

Full Day Top Class Bicycle Rentals in Kyoto
Easy way to get though the streets

We had a nice breakfast at a cafe off the main road, and then took a break at nearby the main temple gate, having bought red-bean rice balls from a famous store which will usually is sold out in the morning. It was very fun. I think we covered quite a lot of ground.
By the way, more information on the bike parking lots would be appreciated.

空いている道をスイスイと！
Reviewed by: kamota, 2014/12/01歩きでの観光は限界がありますので、今回の自転車での観光は快適でした。道を少し入った所の喫茶店でモーニングをしたり、午前中には売り切れてしまうというおはぎを購入して、山門の駐輪場に自転車をとめて、おはぎでほっと一息！
楽しかったです。
結構走りました。あっ！でも駐輪場の情報がもう少し欲しかったです。

We had a wonderful time and enjoy tour, tour guide is really friendly and closer with travellers. But only each sightseeing places too much travellers, and the time for sightseeing is limited, so that we have not lot of time to sightseeing as well.
If have change to travel again, we will chose this tour. Thank you

京都リピータなら自転車観光もおすすめです
Reviewed by: ブラーボ, 2013/10/28全行程５時間。道路も空いているかな、と思い日曜日に利用しました。借りる場所が京都駅からすぐ近く、ということもあり、戻ってくる際もとても安心して利用できました。これはポイント高かったです。また、なにより、かなり自転車がちゃんと整備されていて、ブレーキやタイヤから感じる安心感がありました。ホテルが貸してくれる、ママチャリとはぜんぜん違います。笑
京都は碁盤の目といわれますが、まさにその通りで、だいたいの方向がわかれば、電車よりもずっと効率よくまわることができたように思いました。特に東山地区は見所が多い割には電車の便がよくないため、結局歩き回って疲れる、というパターンなので、とても得した気分でした。
コースは、ほぼ東西南北を時計まわりに、いきたいところに効率よくいけました。坂道も少なく、また大きな通りのちょっと脇道には車通りの少ない道もあるので、思っていたよりも安全に走行できたのもよかったです。坂といえるような坂は東山あたりで少しあったぐらいでしょうか。なによりも、ガイドブックにのっていない「普段の京都」をゆっくり楽しみながらまわれて、とても有意義な時間をすごせました。ローカルの目線で街をみれたのもよかった。
はじめての京都だと、自転車を借りて自分であちこちまわるのはちょっと厳しいかもしれません。最初はやはり定番のバス観光やちょっとだけぜいたくをしてチャータータクシーがずっと便利で安心しょう。でもリピータの方なら、あそこをもう一度、もうちょっとゆっくりみたかった、という方には、この自転車レンタルはとても価値高いと思います。
まわったコース：計５時間（うち３０分ランチタイム）
１、京都駅から北上：四条（室町通り沿い）、二条城、一条戻橋、上賀茂（賀茂別雷）神社へ。
２、上賀茂神社から南東へ：北山駅、下鴨（賀茂御祖）神社へ。
３、下鴨神社から東山へ：京都大学、銀閣寺、哲学の道、南禅寺へ。
４、南禅寺から京都駅まで：平安神宮、知恩院、円山公園、祇園（ランチ）、鴨川を渡り、東本願寺を経て、京都駅へ。

システムのすばらしさ
Reviewed by: 匿名希望, 2013/05/02前にGWに京都でサイクリングしようとしたところ、当日は予約がいっぱいで自転車を借りられなかった。今回は必ず事前に予約していこうと思ったが、当日の天気が雨なら予約しても、お金が無駄になってしまう。そこで見つけたのが、雨の場合には無料でキャンセルできるこのプランだった。実際には今年のGWは快晴でキャンセルはしなかったのだが、このシステムは優れていると思った！
