Of course, the boat ride was thrilling, and it was a great experience with opportunities to observe nature and wildlife. I even thought about wanting to experience it in each season. We took the trolley train to the final stop and then transferred to a bus to the river rafting location. Although the water level was low and the bottom of the boat hit some rocks, we had a very enjoyable rafting experience. Since it was a long trip of over two hours with low water levels, it's essential to prepare for cold weather in winter.

This was my first time going down the Hozu River, even though I live in Kyoto. The boat was full, and most people were probably on a package with the train ride. My wife and I only did the Hozu River descent. The weather was great, perfect for a river ride. We enjoyed the usual entertaining commentary from the boatman, which made us laugh and have a wonderful time. I want to come back every year for this perfect river ride.

I'm not usually someone who writes reviews, but I had such a great time that I wanted to share my experience! My mother had been wanting to try river rafting for a while, so we booked this during our trip to Kyoto.

On the day of our adventure, we were blessed with beautiful weather, and despite it being winter, we enjoyed a warm day on the river for about 1 hour and 40 minutes. The guide's stories were entertaining, and the stunning views and thrilling rapids kept us laughing and cheering the whole time.

At one point, we got to try paddling in a calmer section of the river, but it was really challenging! Even though it was a short experience, my arms were sore from the effort! You could really feel the skill of the craftsmen.

The serene winter scenery was absolutely wonderful, but I definitely want to come back during the autumn foliage season next time.

During my daughter's visit from Switzerland with her foreign husband, we included a boat ride on the Hozu River as part of our one-day autumn foliage tour in Kyoto. The autumn leaves were incredibly beautiful, and the boatmen were very entertaining. We were on the boat for about an hour and 45 minutes, but it felt like no time at all as we quickly arrived in Arashiyama; we had so much fun! I highly recommend it! Next time, I think I’ll go fully bundled up when it snows heavily.

The river rafting was more thrilling than I expected, and above all, the boatman's stories were interesting. I enjoyed listening to various anecdotes, whether they were true or not. When I went this time, the upstream was shrouded in mist, while the downstream had a clear blue sky, making the scenery change in an interesting way (the autumn leaves were a bit scattered, though...). I experienced my first Hozu River boat ride during the autumn leaves season. The weather was perfect, and I was able to enjoy the beautiful foliage. There were moments when we went down some fast-flowing sections, and the boatman's commentary was fun, but honestly, the 1 hour and 40 minutes of riding felt quite long. I started to feel a bit of back pain along the way, which was tough. Fortunately, it happened to be a warm day, but I imagine it would be quite cold and challenging on cloudy or rainy days. I would love to try a shorter 30-minute course again during the warmer season.

紅葉の季節に初めての保津川下りを体験しました。天気にも恵まれ、紅葉を眺めながら気持ち良く過ごすことができました。途中で少し流れの早い場所を下って水しぶきが飛んだり、船頭さんのトークも楽しかったですが、1時間40分の乗船時間は正直かなり長く感じました。途中でちょっと腰が痛くなってしんどかったです。この日はたまたま暖かかい日和だったので良かったですが、曇りや雨の日は寒くて大変そうです。30分くらいのコースがあったら暖かい季節にまた乗ってみたいです。
