The weather was favorable, making for a fun boat ride. The skills of the boatman were impressive, and he spoke cheerfully and casually, steering the boat according to my friend's wishes. It was enjoyable when the snack boat approached with its delicious smells. Unfortunately, I wanted to buy some mitarashi dango, but I couldn't since we had lunch plans right after... what a shame.

気候にも助けられて楽しい舟遊びとなりました。船頭の方の技術も確か
でしたし、明るく気さくに話してくれたり、友人の希望通りに舟を進めてくれたりしました。売店船が寄ってきたのもいい匂いがして楽しかったです。その後すぐにランチの予定があったので買えなかったがみたらし団子を買いたかった・・・残念。

You have to wait outside until the designated time. Since you wait on the road, it's fine to arrive just in time, but it's a bit of a tricky location as it's on the second floor of the building. The lunch bento arrived, and the catering staff was at the reception. The maiko also arrived by taxi about ten minutes earlier. The seating consists of simple tables and chairs, with four people per row, and indeed, the seats closer to the maiko are better if you pay a higher amount.

Once the bento was brought to the table, the event started somewhat casually. The people who were there to experience the tea ceremony began, while those there for lunch started eating on their own, and then the maiko's tea ceremony began. After the ceremony, there was a Q&A session with the maiko, followed by a commemorative photo session with her. I wondered about the traditional games, but it turned out that the event was already over.

It ended surprisingly quickly.

時間迄外で待たされます。道路上で待つからギリギリで行ってもいい位ですがビルの２階だから少しわかりにくい場所ではありました。ランチの弁当が届き仕出し屋さんが受付していました。舞妓さんも10分位前にタクシーで乗り付けました。座席は簡単なテーブルと椅子席一列4人でやはり前の方が舞妓さんに近く金額をあげれば良い席になります。
テーブル席に仕出し弁当が運ばれて何となく開始して、お茶のお手前だけ体験する人達に合わせて、ランチの人はなんとなく勝手に食べ始め、舞妓さんのお手前が始まりました。お手前終わると舞妓さんへの質疑タイム、その後舞妓さんとの記念撮影して、アレお座敷遊びは？と思いましたが、もう終了との事でした。
びっくりする位早く終わりました。

The person in front spread their smartphone cover wide and blocked the aisle, with only about one-third of their upper body visible. I couldn't see the seated姿 at all.

I participated with the understanding that I was in the very back seat.

The maiko did their job well. Thank you.

I was left dissatisfied with the response from the organizers about "if you pay an additional fee..." Even if I pay the extra fee, I would still be blocked, right?

Is it acceptable for the person in front, who is being greedy, to be satisfied while those behind cannot see?

I've taken the time to come here, and I've paid money, so I want to see the performance.

I left, citing "I want to do some sightseeing" as my reason, but it was a waste of time.

What is a "sen-sha-fuda"? I did not receive one.

運営側の『追加料金を払えば…』という対応に不満が残りました。
追加料金を払っても遮られたままでしょ？

前の欲張りな上客が満足すればよろしいでしょうか？

『観光したいので』と理由をつけて退席しましたが時間の無駄でした。

千社札？とは何でしょうか？

The meal was an ordinary catering service. The maiko, who said she had only been in the profession for five months, seemed to tremble in her fingertips and around her knees while dancing. I felt sorry for her. I think it would be better to include a note in the experience recruitment stating, "This will take place in a section of a building," as it would change the expectations of those who apply. After the event, when I chatted with other participants, it seemed they had a similar impression.

食事はありふれた仕出し。入ってまだ5ヶ月と言ってた舞妓さんは、踊りの時には指先や膝付近が震えていました。可哀想な気がしました。体験募集の中で、「ビルの一画で行ないます」と断り書きを入れた方が、応募してきた方の期待の持ち方が違うと思います。終了後に他の参加者と雑談を交わしたら、同じような印象を持たれたようでした。

I was in the back seat, but I was very satisfied to be able to play with the maiko! I asked the staff to take a video of us while we were playing. I don't think there are many opportunities like this, so it was a very valuable experience. Thank you very much!

後ろの席でしたが舞妓さんとお座敷遊びできて大満足です！スタッフの方にお願いして、お座敷遊びしているところを動画を撮ってもらいました。こんな機会中々ないと思うので、とても貴重な体験をさせていただきました。本当にありがとうざいました！

Since it was still early in the season and there were no autumn leaves yet, we were able to enjoy a nearly private experience on the houseboat on the river! Despite the early morning, a water convenience store came by, and since we hadn't prepared any food, we were able to enjoy a moment of luxury. The person who rowed the boat was also entertaining, and it felt like they were talking the whole time. It was an experience I would recommend to my friends.

時期的にまだ紅葉がなく、朝イチだったのもあり、川をほぼ貸し切りの状態で屋形船に乗れました！朝早かったにもかかわらず水上コンビニも来てくれて、食べ物をなにも用意してなかったのでひと時の贅沢な時間を過ごせました。
船を漕いでくれた方のトークもおもしろくずっと喋っていた気がします。友人に勧めたい体験でした。

I had a very enjoyable two and a half hours at the tea house, eating delicious kaiseki cuisine while chatting with the maiko and watching a dance performance. I might have made the proprietress a bit flustered because I got so caught up in the fun conversation that I ate slowly. I'm not sure what the typical maiko experience at a regular tea house is like, but being told that it was a special opportunity to enjoy a maiko performance, which is something you usually wouldn't get to see in a lifetime, was a rare and valuable experience.

お茶屋さんて美味しい懐石料理をたべながら舞妓さんと色々とお話をして、舞を一曲見たとても楽しい2時間半でした。
楽しい話に気を取られて食べるのが遅くなりちょっと女将さんを慌てさせてしまったかもしれません。
普通のお茶屋での舞妓遊びはどういうものなのかは知らないですが一言さんお断りと言われ、通常では一生垣間見る事のない舞妓遊びがアクティビティとして堪能出来たのはまたとない貴重な体験でした。

I had a great time. I wondered how the locations for watching the maiko performances are decided. The two participants were closer, while those with three or four people were at the ends, which felt a bit awkward.

とても楽しかったです。舞妓さんの舞を観れる場所が、どうやって決まるのか❓と❓思いました。二人参加の方が近くて，3人4人の人達は、端の場所でしたので、少し違和感を感じました。

My daughter, who is in elementary school, dressed as a maiko for her traditional dance class and performed "Seasons of Kyoto," so we participated for reference. During the Q&A session, we learned tips on how to dance cutely and got to enjoy some traditional games, which was a lot of fun! (My daughter even won, haha!) At the end, we were treated to a performance of "Seasons of Kyoto," and I was moved by the maiko's thoughtfulness! Honestly, when I first entered the venue, I thought, "Huh? Is this it?" and didn't have high expectations, but I never imagined I would be this satisfied. Right after it ended, my daughter asked, "When can we come to see the maiko again?" It was definitely worth the trip from the same place as the maiko!

「次はいつ舞妓さんに会いに来る？」と。
舞妓さんの出身地と同じところから
わざわざ参加した甲斐がすごくありました！

The food was delicious, and the view was absolutely stunning. The maiko were also adorable, making for a truly luxurious experience. The staff were attentive and provided courteous service. I definitely want to go again!

お料理も美味しく、なんといっても景色が最高、そして舞妓さんも可愛く、大変贅沢な思いをさせて頂きました。お店の方も気が利き、丁寧な対応をしてくださいました。是非また行きたいです！！

I am really happy that this course has resumed. Since there are very few opportunities to meet real maiko, I would be delighted if it could continue. I was captivated by the maiko's dance, and I learned a lot from the maiko's dedication to preserving tradition. It inspired me to do my best as well. The meal was also very delicious, and I was extremely satisfied. I would definitely like to invite friends and acquaintances to experience this again. Thank you for the wonderful time.

このコースが再開されて本当に嬉しいです。
本物の舞妓さんにお目にかかる機会は殆どないのでずっと続けて頂けたら嬉しいです。
舞妓さんの舞にうっとりしましたし、伝統を継承していこうと頑張っていらっしゃる舞妓さんの姿勢に学びが沢山ありました。
私も頑張らなければ、と元気を頂きました。

I enjoyed watching the cute maiko perform. It was very beautiful. I also had fun experiencing the ozashiki play. I didn't have high expectations for the food, but it was well-prepared and delicious. I would like to use this service again.

かわいい舞妓さんの舞を観賞しました。とても綺麗でした。お座敷遊びも体験できて楽しかったです。料理はあまり期待しなかったけど、ちゃんとしていて美味しかったです。また利用したいと思います。

I had a very enjoyable time. In the activities using tools, the tools were changed every time a person switched, and sufficient measures were taken to prevent infections.

とても楽しい時間を過ごせました。道具を使った遊びでは、人が交代するたびに道具もかえられており、感染症対策も十分にされていました。

When you think of Kyoto, you probably associate it with school trips, as many people visit during their teenage years. I believe most of the time is spent visiting temples and shrines. As an adult, I want to experience the parts of Kyoto that I couldn't visit as a child. Since traditional tea houses can be quite exclusive, I think it's great that there are activities like this available for regular tourists as a way to experience it. I highly recommend it!

京都と言えば修学旅行なので10代の頃に訪れることが多いと思います。寺社仏閣などを中心に回ることになると思います。大人になってから京都へ行ったらやはり子供の頃に回れなかった京都を体験してみたいと思います。本当のお座敷は敷居が高いので体験版として一般の観光客にこのような形のアクティビティーがあるのは良いと思います。お勧めします‼️

I couldn't make a reservation for the Hozu River boat ride, so I quickly booked this instead. Since it was a private charter, I didn't have to worry about other guests and was able to enjoy conversations and meals on board.

保津川下りが予約が取れず急速こちらを予約して利用させていただきましたが貸切で利用できるので他の方を気にする事もなく船内での会話と食事を楽しむことができました。

I reserved a front-row seat, and I was able to easily take photos and videos from a nearby seat. The maiko talked about anything and everything. The experience was fun and unforgettable.

私は、最前列を予約し、近くの席で写真やビデオも楽に撮れました。舞妓さんは、なんでも話してくれます。遊びは楽しく、忘れられない経験になりました。

I couldn't see the maiko very well. When I asked a question to the maiko, my voice couldn't be heard, so I ended up asking through the microphone. I thought it might be better for the maiko to use the microphone when answering as well, to ensure it was communicated clearly.

The food was delicious, and the maiko were charming, making for a wonderful time. There was a guest who was knowledgeable about the world of maiko and traditional entertainment, and thanks to that person, I was able to hear many interesting stories, which was great. They mentioned that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there haven't been many opportunities to perform in front of people, but it was during times like these that watching the maiko dance was truly healing.

However, during the photo session, I was only able to take pictures with one maiko while maintaining a certain distance, so I wished I could have taken a photo of the maiko without her mask. Maiko Mankai Nao was very cute.

お料理もおいしくて、舞妓さんも可愛らしくていい時間を過ごせました。
お客さんの中に舞妓さんの世界やお座敷遊びなどに詳しい方がおられて、その方のおかげで色んな話も聞けてとても良かったです。
コロナ禍でなかなか人前で踊る機会がないと言われていましたが、こういう時だからこそ舞妓さんの踊りを観てとても癒されました。

ただ、記念撮影の時に舞妓さん1人だけで写真を撮らせてもらったんですが、一定の距離を保ったところから写真を撮るだけなので、マスクを外した舞妓さんの写真を撮らせて欲しかったです。
舞妓さんの満彩尚ちゃんがとても可愛かったです。

I was so happy to meet the maiko up close. It was a shame we had to wear masks, but she was great at responding and very cute. I also enjoyed watching her dance two songs. The lunch was delicious, and I was very satisfied.

I was really looking forward to this opportunity for my daughter to meet a maiko for the first time. During the questions with the maiko, we were able to ask a lot about her daily life, her training, and how she spends her free time, which was very enjoyable. The maiko's dance was incredibly graceful and beautiful, and I could feel the charm of Kyoto in her dialect. By the time we were leaving, my daughter even said she wanted to buy a fan painted by the maiko! (laughs)

Since opportunities to meet a maiko are rare, this was a very precious experience for us. Thank you very much!

今回は娘が始めての舞妓さんに会えるとのことでとても楽しみにしていました。舞子さんの質問では、舞妓さんと日常などや、お稽古、お休みの際の過ごし方など、沢山のことが聞けて、とても楽しかったです。舞妓さんの踊りは、とてもたおやかで美しく、京都弁には京都の風情を感じることも出来て、娘も帰りには、舞妓さんの描かれた扇子を買って帰る！と言い出したほど(笑)
なかなか、舞妓さんにお会いできる機会もないので、とても貴重な体験をさせていただきました。ありがとうざいました！

踊りやゲームは楽しかったです。私たちは皆、舞妓さんに質問をしたり、一緒に写真を撮ったりする機会がありました。
「日本語と英語で進行いたします」と書いてありますが、実際には英語が提供されなかったので、日本語を話さない妻にすべてを翻訳しなければなりませんでした。

Dancing and games were fun. We all had opportunities to ask maiko questions and take pictures with her.
While it says "日本語と英語で進行いたします。", i.e. it is conducted in both Japanese and English, no English was provided so I had to translate everything to my non-Japanese speaking wife.

Although we are still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, I was able to visit Kyoto and meet the maiko I have always admired. It was a wonderful experience to take commemorative photos, ask questions, and watch the maiko perform up close. Nowadays, it's rare to see maiko in Kyoto, and being able to take photos with them is even more difficult, so this was a precious experience.

While it was unfortunate that we had to wear masks, the maiko was incredibly cute, and her conversation and gestures were truly reflective of a maiko.

The food was delicious, especially the dessert, which was delightful.

コロナ禍ではありますが京都へ行き憧れの舞妓さんに直接会う事が出来ました。
記念写真や質疑応答、そして舞妓さんの舞を近くで拝見し、とても素晴らしい時間でした。昨今、京都へ行っても舞妓さんをお見掛けすることは少なく、ましてや一緒に記念写真が撮れるなど難しいなか貴重な体験でした。
マスクは残念でしたがとても可愛いらしい舞妓さんで、お話や仕草も舞妓さんそのものでした。

お料理も美味しく、特にデザートは美味でした。

I had a wonderful time with a maiko while enjoying lunch at a long-established ryotei. It was a rare experience to meet a maiko, as opportunities to do so in Kyoto are quite limited. Although we wore masks due to COVID-19 precautions, the maiko was very charming, and her words and gestures were truly representative of a maiko. Some of the people at the table were so moved that they had tears in their eyes.

The food, although catered, was elegant and delicious. I want to cherish the senjafuda I received and the commemorative photos. I think this is a great program, and I would love to participate again if given the chance.

老舗料亭のランチを食べながら舞妓さんとの楽しい時間を過ごしました。
京都へ行っても舞妓さんとお会いできる機会がほとんど無いなか、とても貴重な体験をさせていただきました。
コロナ感染症対策のためマスクをしていましたが、とても可愛らしい舞妓さんで言葉や所作のひとつひとつも舞妓さんそのものでした。
同席の方の中には感激で涙を浮かべている方もいたほどでした。

お料理も仕出しとは言え上品なお味で美味しかったです。
頂いた千社札と記念写真はずっと大事にしたいと思います。
良い企画だと思います。また機会があれば参加したいです。

I don't want to go to crowded places due to the pandemic, but I still want to enjoy myself, so first of all, I wanted to meet a maiko! The lunch included a drink and a cute cake afterward! The maiko was very cute. She answered various questions and always had a smile, which left a strong impression. However, the microphone volume was low, making it hard to hear, and I thought it might have been difficult for older guests with hearing issues.

I was allowed to take photos and videos, so I took a lot! The playtime with the maiko was just so enviable. Actually... I really wanted to participate! The staff were kind—thank you! If I have another opportunity, I would like to bring my grandchild! Lastly, regarding the meal, I think a 松花堂弁当-style bento would have been nice... Especially because of COVID, I thought it would have been better if there was a lid.

コロナ禍という事で混雑した場所も行きたく無いですし、でもそれなりに楽しみたいって事で、まずは舞妓さんに逢いたい！！でした。ランチついてしかも食後の飲み物と可愛いケーキまで付いてます！！舞妓さんはとても可愛いかったです。色々な質問にも答えてくれて、いつもニコニコしてたのが印象的でした。ただマイクの音が小さくて、聞こえづらさがあり、高齢で耳が弱くなっている方には大変だったのかな？と思いました。
写真や動画撮っても良いとの事でいっぱい撮りました。また、舞妓さんとのお遊びタイムは、ただただ羨ましい限りでした。実は。。。参加したかったぁスタッフさん、親切でしたねーー！感謝です！また機会があったら孫を連れて行きたいです！！最後にお食事ですが、松花堂弁当みたいなのが良かったかも。。。特にコロナですし、蓋があったらなって思いました。

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions on the number of participants, there were about 10 to 12 attendees. I requested a seat in the front row, but since the venue itself isn't very large, I think sitting in the second or third row would have been fine as well.

コロナで人数制限をされているせいか、参加者は10〜12でした。1番前の席を指定したけど、会場自体が広くないので、2〜3列目でも良かったのかなと思いました。

It was a meal plan, but I was so absorbed in the dance and stories that I couldn't eat much. The portion was perfect for lunch and delicious. I will also cherish the gift of the "senjafuda" from the maiko. It was a great opportunity since I don't often get to see them up close. The staff were also very courteous. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the sanitation measures, customer service, and distance from the maiko made me feel safe.

お食事プランでしたが、舞踊やお話を聞くことに夢中になり箸がすすみませんでした。ランチにぴったりのボリュームで美味しく頂きました。
舞妓さんからの千社札のプレゼントも大切にします。身近でみることがなかなかないので良い機会でした。スタッフのみなさまも丁寧な対応をしてくださいました。
コロナ禍、消毒や接客の対応、舞妓さんとの距離など安心でした。

It was quite an experience... I was happy to spend a wonderful time with the maiko, whom I usually can't talk to directly or see up close. Kachiyo's performance was lovely, and the food was delicious as well. My friends were also very pleased.

中々…普段直接お話しや間近で舞を観れない舞妓さんと素敵な時間を過ごせて幸せでした。叶千代さんの舞も素敵でしたがお料理も美味しく頂きました。友人達もとても喜んでました。

I lived in Kyoto when I was young, and I often return to my hometown, so I had never had the opportunity to see a maiko until this experience. Kyoto is my second hometown that I really love. It was Kanou Chiyo. When I watched her on YouTube, I found out that she is from a place that is only an hour away from where I live. I will support her from afar.

若いころ京都に住んでおり、また現在も故郷に帰り結構京都を訪れることが多く舞妓さんを一回も見る機会がなく今回初めての体験をさせていただきました。
京都は、とても好きな私の第二の故郷です。
叶千代さんでした。ユーチューブを見たら叶千代さんが出ておりますそこで出身地がなんと私の住んでいる近くで一時間で行ける所でした。

Since I came all the way from Tokyo to Kyoto, I reserved a front-row seat. I had a great time watching the maiko right in front of me. I received a senjafuda from the maiko and immediately stuck it in my wallet.

It's said that this brings good fortune and money. The dance was charming and delightful.

せっかく東京から京都へ来たので最前列の席を予約しました。舞妓さんを目の前で観られて楽しく過ごせました。舞妓さんから千社札を貰いましたが早速、財布に貼りました。

と縁起が良いそうです。
踊りも愛らしく良かったです。
