We have visited Kyoto many times as a couple, but we were unaware of the existence of this hop-on-hop-off sightseeing bus. We toured places like Kinkaku-ji, Kyoto Gyoen, and the grave of Murasaki Shikibu. Because of the current season, we were able to take our time and enjoy the sights. We also visited the smallest karesansui (dry landscape garden) in Japan, the Higashitakubo at Daitoku-ji Ryogen-in, which left us in awe with its beautiful stone garden in such a small space. The bus was equipped with hand sanitizer gel, ensuring proper infection control measures were in place. The deck of the Sky Hop Bus was wonderfully breezy during our travels, making it the best experience. I want to go again.

I used it for the first time! While I watched the city bus stop overflowing with people, I enjoyed a very comfortable bus journey here as it was quite empty. At the beginning, we were each given headphones, and when connected to the guide installed in our seats, information about our destinations was provided, which was great. Most of the passengers were foreigners, so in a way, I didn't have to worry about anything and could relax freely! It was a great tour that allowed us to see a good amount of Kyoto in just one day. My spouse and I, along with my parents, participated as a group of four, and I think this tour would be very convenient for those who find it troublesome to arrange transportation like trains and buses on their own. The flow of the tour was smooth, and we were able to stick to the schedule without any delays, which was wonderful! I would love to join this tour again if the opportunity arises.

We usually work as guides, so we thought it would be nice to be on the receiving end of a tour for a change! We participated in the tour with that mindset. Both the tour guide and the driver were friendly, which made for a really enjoyable time.

Aside from the two of us, everyone else was a traveler from abroad, and at first, we felt a bit out of place. However, the guidance in both English and Japanese was very educational. Traveling by bus was convenient, and we were able to try the food we were curious about and enjoy some drinks, which left us very satisfied!

This was my first trip to Kyoto. I wanted to visit famous tourist spots like Kinkaku-ji, Kiyomizu-dera, and Fushimi Inari, so I booked this tour that included two of them in the route. It was great that Nijo Castle and Heian Shrine were also on the route, allowing me to visit those as well.

One of the deciding factors was that I would receive a bus ticket to Fushimi Inari, which is not on the route, but this turned out to be quite a challenge. First, the location of the bus stop was difficult for tourists to find. I asked the Sky Hop Bus staff where the bus stop was, and they gave me a vague answer, saying, "I think it's over there." It turned out to be completely wrong. Even when I went to the bus information center, they said they didn't know where it was (I mentioned that the ticket said 6A, but they told me, "There is no 6A"). Just when I thought I finally found it, I discovered that the bus only comes once an hour, and I had just missed it by five minutes. In the end, I had to return to Kyoto Station and take a train to Fushimi Inari. It's not useful to give a bus ticket to tourists who have no sense of direction for a bus that only locals use. I think more consideration is needed.

The Sky Hop Bus itself isn't bad, but considering it only goes around a relatively small area for 3,600 yen, I feel it's a bit expensive. While the double-decker bus allows for enjoying the scenery, it may be good for foreigners, but there’s hardly any reason for Japanese people to choose this bus.

ルートにはない伏見稲荷に行くバスチケットも貰えるとの事だったのでそれも決め手の１つだったのですが、これが大変でした。まずこのバスの停留所の場所が観光客にはわかりにくい。スカイホップバスのスタッフさんにバス停の場所を聞いたのですが、「多分あちらだと思います」と言う曖昧な回答。しかも全く違う場所でした。バスの総合案内所に行ってもわからないと言われる程でした(チケットに６Ａとありましたので、それを伝えましたが「６Ａなんてないですよ」と言われた)。やっとの思いで見つけたと思ったら、なんとそのバスが1時間に一回しか来ず、私が見つけた時は5分前に出発した後でした。結局京都駅に戻って電車に乗って伏見稲荷まで行くはめになりました。土地勘のない観光客に地元の人しか乗らないようなバスのチケットを渡されても使いようがありません。もう少し配慮が必要だと思います。
スカイホップバス自体は悪くはないですが、そんなに広くない範囲をくるっと周るだけで3600円という事を考えるとちょっと高いと感じます。
二階建てバスで景観を楽しめるので、外国人にはいいかもしれないですが、日本人がこのバスに選ぶ意味はほぼないですね。

I had been using hop-on hop-off buses at tourist spots in Europe, so I was excited to see them finally available in Japan! I made a reservation right away. This time, it was a mini trip alongside a training session, and I was able to enjoy the city of Kyoto from a high vantage point while listening to the audio guide through my headphones. I also took a lot of snap photos, so it was definitely more worthwhile than just taking a regular bus.

I had decided on my points of interest in advance, so I was able to combine the bus and train and cover quite a bit of ground. However, it was a bit lonely since there were many foreign tourists using it. It's definitely convenient, so if you visit Kyoto, I highly recommend giving it a try!

It was the best bus tour with a very friendly bilingual guide and a driver who was very polite in both driving and greetings! There were more than 80% foreign participants, which was a first-time experience for me, but the Japanese guests were seated together in the front row of the bus, and we were able to depart from each sightseeing spot without much delay, making it a comfortable experience. I definitely want to use this service again if I have the chance.

We had lunch at Kiyomizu-dera, but due to time constraints, we opted for a meal-free course and ate the bento we had bought at the station during the bus ride, allowing us more time for sightseeing.

For the bus-only course, we had to purchase the entrance fees ourselves, but it was straightforward and didn't take much time. Most souvenirs can be purchased at Kyoto Station, so if you're joining from there, I don't think it's necessary to buy them on-site. I anticipated the tight schedule, so I was generally satisfied. Also, if you're coming from Kyoto, you'll need to take a train to Fushimi Inari, so it's advisable to leave large luggage in a coin locker.

I left my travel bag in a locker to travel light, but I noticed some participants struggled with their suitcases. Since you walk a lot on the paths of shrines and temples, comfortable shoes like sneakers are best, especially in Arashiyama where there's a lot of walking. The long bus rides can cause your feet to swell, so wearing something a bit looser is just right.

It was busy, but I had fun visiting multiple places I wanted to see.

人気の観光地を複数を回るツアーなので1ヶ所の滞在時間は短くゆっくりお土産を見たりする時間はないです。
清水寺でランチタイムになるのですが時間がなくなるので食事なしコースにして予め駅で買っておいたお弁当をバスの移動中に食べて観光する時間にあてました。
バスのみコースは拝観料も自分で購入するのですが特に時間が取られることもなく買えました。お土産は殆ど京都駅で購入出来るので京都駅から参加される場合は現地で買う必要はないと思います。時間が厳しいのは予想していたので概ね満足しています。あと京都から参加される場合は伏見稲荷まで電車移動になるので大きな荷物はコインロッカーなどに預けた方がいいかと思います。
私は旅行バッグをロッカーに預けて身軽にして参加したのですが他の参加者さんでスーツケース持ったままで来られた方は大変そうでした。神社やお寺は参道を長く歩くのでスニーカーなど歩きやすい靴がベストです。特に嵐山は歩きます。バスなど乗り物に乗っている時間が長く足が浮腫むので少しゆるめで丁度良くなります。
忙しかったけど行きたかった場所に複数行けたので楽しかったです。

Most of the tour participants were foreigners, so the tour guide was very proficient in English. To ensure that we, the Japanese participants, didn't get bored, they included jokes and used Kyoto dialect during the Japanese explanations, making it a very enjoyable tour. They also helped us create memories by informing us of good photo spots and taking pictures for us, for which we are very grateful. It was a tour that made me want to participate again. I hope to join again if the opportunity arises.

I joined with my parents and children, a total of six people. My parents seemed a bit tired, but it seems that the children (16 and 12 years old) made some wonderful memories.

Fushimi Inari Taisha and Arashiyama were great as it was my first time visiting. Kinkaku-ji is always moving no matter how many times I go. It was disappointing that Kiyomizu-dera had scaffolding set up on the stage due to renovation work. It was nice that lunch and admission fees were included. One downside was that I didn't expect there would be train transfers during the tour, so I had to walk with an umbrella and my luggage, which was a bit challenging. If I had known, I would have left my luggage at the hotel. Lastly, the tour guide who accompanied us that day was a wonderful person, making it a fun and memorable tour.

　伏見稲荷大社と嵐山は初めての観光だったので良かったです。
　金閣寺は何回行っても感動します。
　清水寺は改築工事のため清水の舞台に足場が組んであったのが残念でした。
　昼食、拝観料込みと言うのも良かったです。
　一つ残念だったのは、ツアーで電車移動があるとは思っていなかったので傘を差して荷物を待って歩かなくてはならなっかったのがちょっと大変でした。
知っていればホテルに荷物を預けたのですが。
　最後に当日同行していただいた添乗員さんが大変良い方だったので楽しく思い出に残るツアーとなりました。
