We were heading out of the country the next day so the recommended doing the uchiwa as the fan would take too long to dry. Just around the corner from Nisiki market so awesome location. They provide you with everything you need. You need to speak Japanese.

Although it was slightly tricky to find the building, it was a fantastic experience. My girlfriend and I both enjoyed the lesson.

I was able to change to an eco bag by paying the difference, even though it wasn't the course I initially selected.

They first explained about Yuzen dyeing and the specific methods, which I found easy to understand and helpful. There were so many types of templates to choose from, and it was fun to select one.

Deciding how to layer the colors while imagining the finished product can be quite challenging if you're not used to it. However, that thought process is also enjoyable.

The final product feels somewhat different from what I had envisioned, but I'm satisfied with it as it is. I had a great time and would love to experience this again if I have the opportunity. Thank you for the wonderful time!

申し込み時に選んだコースでなくても差額を払えば変更できるとのことでしたのでエコバッグに変更しました。
最初に友禅染についての説明と具体的なやり方を説明して下さったのですが、分かりやすくて良かったと思います。
型紙の種類がとてもたくさんあって選ぶのも楽しかったです。
色をどのように重ねていくか、出来上がりを想像しながらの作業は慣れないとなかなか難しいです。
でもその考える工程も楽しいものです。
出来上がりは何となく自分の思っていたものとは違う気がするのですが、コレはコレで良い出来じゃないかと満足です。
楽しかったのでまた機会があれば体験したいと思います。

I never thought I could make my own tea scoop. There were times when I struggled along the way, and I received help with the final touches, but it turned out beautifully. By making it myself, my perspective on tea scoops has changed. I'm looking forward to seeing it during tea ceremonies and gatherings. I want to make another one as well.

自分で茶杓が作れるとは思いませんでした。途中で困ったりしたときや、最後の仕上げは手伝って頂いたのですが、とてもきれいに仕上がりました。自分で作ることによって、茶杓の見方も変わりました。茶事や茶会での拝見が楽しみです。また、作りたいです。

To start with the workshop looks amazing- running examples of professional work cover the walls and also what look like old tools and print rollers, as well as fabrics covered ceiling all together adding up to a great atmosphere. Our tutor was great, as was his assistant. They gave us lots of pointers whilst letting us crack on when we'd got the hang of the technique. There were lots of example designs to pick from- I'd had grand plans to draw out my own but gave up on this when I saw the topical and varied choices. The steps were straight forward - meaning by the end of the morning we both had an impressive finished product which will be a great reminder of Japan.

I participated with a friend. There were a lot of illustrations, and I was a bit unsure at first about what to choose, but I was able to create something to my liking since I could mix and match various combinations. The husband and his mother taught us the process patiently and thoroughly, allowing us to spend a relaxing time. I was surprised to see how the amount of wax changed the intensity and hue of the colors. I was able to create a one-of-a-kind piece in my own style, which became a wonderful memory.

友人とふたりで参加しました。
イラストもいっぱいあり、まず選ぶのに少し迷いましたが、自分で色んな組み合わせもできるので自分好みのものを作ることができて良かったです。やり方もご主人とそのお母様が丁寧にじっくりと教えて頂き、ゆったりとした時間を過ごすことが出来ました。
ロウの量によって、色の濃さや色合いなど変わるのが分かって驚きました。
自分好みの世界でたった一つのものが出来て良い思い出になりました。

I could not say enough good things about this Ikebana demonstration. Our host was lovely, gracious, and dedicated to her art. Her explanations and historical background were interesting, informative, and well put-together. I would highly recommend this activity for anyone interested in Japanese culture.

I was about 15 minutes late due to traffic, but they treated me very kindly without any unpleasant expressions. The location for the experience had a wonderful atmosphere, allowing me to focus on the indigo dyeing. They carefully explained the process of indigo dyeing and provided helpful advice, resulting in a very satisfying finish. There were letters and photos from school trip students and elementary school children posted everywhere, which made me feel warm knowing they cherish each customer. Since it was an evening experience, I ended up being a bit late, but they taught me patiently throughout, making it a truly memorable part of my trip to Kyoto. I am cherishing the bandana I made. I highly recommend this experience!

道路の混雑で15分ほど遅れてしまったのですが嫌な顔されずとても優しく対応していただけました。
体験の場所もとても良い雰囲気で集中してローケツ染めをすることができました。
ローケツ染めの仕組みやアドバイスを丁寧に教えていただき、とても満足する仕上がりになりました。
修学旅行生や小学生からのお手紙や写真がいたるところに貼ってあり、お客様ひとりひとりを大切にしていらっしゃるのだと温かい気持ちになりました。
夕方からの体験だったので少し遅くなってしまったのですが終始丁寧に教えていただき、京都旅行の中でも本当に良い思い出となりました。
出来上がったバンダナ、大切に使っています。
是非体験してほしいです！

I wanted to do something other than sightseeing at shrines and temples, so I participated in a Yuzen dyeing experience. This time, I tried dyeing a tumbler, and it was easier than I expected and a lot of fun. There were many stencils to choose from, which took some time, but the actual dyeing process was quick and satisfying thanks to the thorough explanations. Next time, I want to challenge myself with a larger piece!

神社仏閣の観光以外のことをしたいと思い、友禅染体験に参加してみました。今回はタンブラーに挑戦しましたが、思ったよりも簡単にできて楽しかったです。型紙がたくさんあり、選ぶのに時間がかかってしまいましたが、実際に染めるのは丁寧な説明もありあっという間に満足いくものができました。今度はもっと大きな作品にチャレンジしたいです！

On the last day of our trip to Kyoto and Nara, we visited. After walking around shrines, temples, and enjoying gourmet food for several days, we were a bit tired, so we wanted to take it easy on the final day and decided to make a last-minute reservation the night before.

The reservation details were clear, and we had no trouble finding the location. Since we had some time before our reservation, we decided to extend our visit to Honno-ji, but it turned out to be farther than we expected, and we were a little late… (sorry about that).

The Yuzen dyeing experience made both of us lose track of time and we got completely absorbed in it. It was a lot of fun. I think it's a great experience course that anyone can enjoy.

京都奈良旅行の最終日に訪問。
神社仏閣にグルメと連日せっせと歩き回りちょっと疲れてしまったので最終日は体験など少しゆっくりしたいと思い前日夜に急遽予約しました。
予約の日時や場所はわかりやすく、迷うことはありませんでした。予約の時間まで少し時間があったので本能寺まで足をのばしてみたら案外遠くて少し遅刻してしまいましたが…汗（すみません）
友禅染め体験は二人とも時間を忘れて夢中になってしまいました。とても楽しかったです。
誰でも楽しめるよい体験コースだと思います。

It was snowing on the day of our visit, but the workshop was very warm, and the staff welcomed us with great warmth, allowing us to rediscover the wonderful hospitality of Kyoto.

We were able to find a favorite design from many options in Yuzen dyeing. There didn’t seem to be any strict rules about the patterns, so my daughter greedily included a dog, a penguin, and Nemo, creating a one-of-a-kind piece that she was very satisfied with.

The explanations were very easy to understand, and the staff provided subtle support throughout, allowing us to focus on creating our artwork in a very comfortable atmosphere. My daughter seemed to enjoy it so much that the next day she said, "I want to go make another handkerchief instead of going to the temple!" Now, we want to challenge ourselves to create a larger piece together.

We would love to visit again!

当日は雪が降っていましたが工房は大変暖かく、スタッフの方々も大変温かく迎えて下さり、京都のおもてなしの素晴らしさを再発見することができました(*^_^*)
友禅染はとてもたくさんの型から気に入ったものを探すことができ。絵柄は一つなど決まりも特に無いようでしたので、娘は欲張って犬とペンギンとニモ♡♡っと、好きなものを全部いれて、世界に一つしかない大満足な作品を作ることができました。
説明もとても分かりやすく、途中途中でさりげなくフォローして下さるので、とても居心地の良い距離感で作品づくりに集中できました♪
娘も、体験の翌日、「お寺に行かずにまたハンカチを作りに行きたい！！」と言い出すほど気に入ったようなので、今度は親子で大きな作品に挑戦してみたくなりました。
またお世話になりたいです(^_-)-☆

Due to bad weather today, I had to change my plans and decided to participate in this Kyoto Yuzen dyeing experience course. I chose the course where you dye a white handkerchief about 35×35 cm in size. Despite making a last-minute reservation just an hour before, they welcomed me with polite service.

First, I started by choosing a pattern and thinking about my own layout. I was able to learn how to apply colors and create a sense of depth, so I think it turned out even more beautifully than I imagined. Since the dyeing process used stencils, there were customers of various ages, from children to the elderly.

They provided color samples, making it a course that beginners could easily join. There were no particular time constraints, which allowed me to focus on my work at my own pace, and that was very nice. The staff maintained a good distance as well.

On my way out, I received a cute handmade doll made of chirimen fabric, resembling a traditional beanbag toy. There were various small items and patterns to choose from, which made it quite difficult to decide, so I would love to experience it again if I have the chance.

今日は悪天候のため、急遽予定を変更して、この京友禅染め体験小物コースに参加することになりました。
35×35くらいの白いハンカチに京友禅染めをするコースを選びました。
当日予約で、一時間後の突然の予約にも関わらず、丁寧な対応で受け入れてもらえました。
まず柄を選んで、自分でレイアウトを考えるところから始まりました。
色の塗り方や、立体感の出し方などもおしえてもらうことができたので、想像以上にきれいに仕上がったと思います。
型紙をつかっての染め作業だったため、子どもから年配の方まで、幅広い年齢層のお客様がいらっしゃいました。
色見本もついていたので、初心者の方でも気軽に参加できるコースだったとおもいます。
時間の制限も特になく、マイペースで作業に集中することができたのがとてもよかったです。
スタッフの距離感もよかったです。
帰り際にちりめんでできた手作りお手玉っぽいかわいい人形をいただきました。
色んな小物や、柄があったので、すごく悩んだりしましたので、また機会があれば再度体験したいと思いました。

I participated with my daughters, who are in the third grade, first grade, and kindergarten. I thought it would be great for them to experience Kyoto's traditional Yuzen dyeing and feel closer to traditional culture and history.

The staff explained the origins, history, and procedures of Yuzen dyeing in a way that was easy for the children to understand, and then we got to experience it. We were able to choose from many patterns and dye multiple times, and it was exciting that we could even add our names. The children joyfully picked out various designs, showcasing their individuality. During the dyeing process with brushes, the staff demonstrated in front of my daughters and kindly offered advice on how to create gradients when we asked questions. My daughters were able to focus and enjoy making their original handkerchiefs, and they were very satisfied with the experience.

The shop was beautifully renovated from an old traditional house in Kyoto, and the atmosphere was really nice.

I live in Kyoto, and recently I've become fascinated with kimono and have been trying various experiences related to Japanese culture. This time, I tried dyeing. I went in a kimono, but they lent me an apron, so I was able to avoid getting dirty. I chose a beginner-friendly handkerchief for dyeing, but it seems you can also choose items like tote bags and tapestries.

First, I selected the design I wanted from a lot of files. I simply chose a rose, but later I found out that there were two places in the workshop with that design, and I was envious of the person next to me who chose the "Bird and Beast Picture Scroll."

The staff demonstrated the process clearly, making it easy to understand, but when I actually tried it, I couldn't replicate it exactly, so I struggled to get the hang of it at first. I took dye from about ten colors with a brush, blended it on cooking paper, and then applied the color to the handkerchief. I started with light colors and gradually built up to darker shades, creating a gradient. It was so engaging, like coloring in a coloring book, that an hour flew by, and I had a lot of fun.

I think it's better to choose a pattern with fewer templates at first, as it makes it easier to imagine the finished product. My friend combined completely different patterns, creating an interesting piece. It really shows off their sense of style (laughs).

京都に住んでいますが、最近着物にはまっていて和文化の体験に色々チャレンジしています。今回は染めをやってみました。着物で行きましたが割烹着を貸してくださり、汚さずに済みました。染めるものは初心者向きのハンカチを選択しました。トートバッグやタペストリーなども選べるようです。
まずはたくさんのファイルの中から、自分がやりたい絵型を選びます。私はシンプルにバラを選びましたが、工房の2か所にあったことを後で知り、隣の人が鳥獣戯画を選ばれていて羨ましかったです。
やり方はスタッフがちゃんと実演してくれてわかりやすかったですが、実際やるとその通りにならないので慣れるまでコツがつかめませんでした。10色ぐらいある染料を筆に取って、クッキングペーパーの上でなじませてからハンカチに色をのせていきます。薄い色から回数を重ねて濃くしていき、グラデーションもつけられました。ぬり絵のようにすごく集中することが出来て1時間ぐらいがあっという間に過ぎていきとても楽しかったです。
最初は型紙枚数の少ない柄を選んだほうが出来上がりのイメージがつきやすいので良いと思いました。友達は全然違う柄を組み合わせてて面白い作品にしていました。センスが出ます(笑）

We participated as a couple.
After spending about two hours making our tea scoops, we are already using them at home.
We also gave them our own names, which deepens our affection for them.

Saori Okabe was wonderful. Her English is perfect. I would recommend this class to any one interested in fabric painting. Very kid friendly. The craft center is very close to the Nishiki Market. Please check out the first pic as the buildings sign is not in English. I did mention this, they may have put up an English sign.

Saori Okabe was wonderful. Doing this project really made me appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into working with Mother of Pearl.

We had our first experience as a group of four. There were plenty of pre-cut motif templates available. We could choose as many motifs as we liked and color them with paints and brushes. From the very beginning, I felt anxious about which motifs to use and how to compose them, and I found myself complaining. However, once the composition started to take shape, we each focused while also complimenting each other, expressing disappointment, and sharing motifs. It was so much fun to do something for the first time and to see our ideas take form, and we ended with smiles on our faces.

The staff were very pleasant and attentive, and the hour and a half flew by.

We combined this activity with the Hozu River boat tour, making for a more fulfilling day. Thank you!

4人で、初体験させていただきました。
あらかじめ切ってあるモチーフの型紙、数はい～っぱいあります。
好きなモチーフを好きなだけ選び、絵具と筆で彩色していきます。
もう最初から、どんなモチーフをどんな構図で使うか、気持ちは焦るは、考えは纏まらないわで、泣き言が出る始末。けれど、構図が決まってくると、それぞれ、集中しつつもお互いに褒めたり残念がったり、モチーフを貸しあったり、初めてするのって楽しい、考えた物が形になるって楽しいなとニコニコ笑顔で終えることができました。
お店の方も感じよく対応いただき、１時間半があっという間でした。

保津川下りのツアーにくっつけたんですが、より充実した１日になりました。ありがとうございました。

It was very easy, but I was extremely satisfied with the result. The dyeing method felt like applying color with a brush over a stencil. There are a large variety of designs available, so I think anyone with any hobby can create something they love. It was an experience that those who enjoy crafting would likely get really into. There are no time limits, so if you're planning your schedule, I think taking plenty of time here will prevent any regrets later. The products sold at Marumasa Nishimuraya were also very cute. I believe even children can do it easily, so I can recommend it to anyone!

とっても簡単ですが、非常に満足のいくものができました。
染め方はステンシルのように型紙の上から
筆で色を擦りつけて塗り込んでいく感じでした。
型紙の絵柄は大量にあり、どんな趣味の人も
自分の好きなデザインで作ることができると思います。
ものづくりが好きな人ほど熱中しちゃいそうな体験でした。
時間制限などもないので、もし予定を組むときには
ここでたっぷり時間をとると後々後悔しないと思います。

In Kyoto, I was initially focused on visiting temples and wondered if I should take the time for experiences, but I became so engrossed that I lost track of time and had a really great time. Honestly, I want to do it again. By the way, the elementary school girl sitting next to me said she had experienced it the day before. There were also many international visitors. The shops along the road sold small items and miscellaneous goods, which were enjoyable to look at, and I was able to see traditional Kyoto townhouses, making it a wonderful experience.

京都では寺など見る方に重点を置いてしまい、体験は時間を取るからどうしようかな。。。と思っていましたが、時間を立つのも忘れてしまうほどのめり込んでしまい、本当に楽しかったです。正直、またやりたいです。
ちなみに、わたしの隣に座っていた小学生ぐらいの女の子は前の日も体験したそうです。
海外の方も多く訪れていましたよ。
道路沿いの店には小物や雑貨も売っていて見ていても楽しかったし、建物自体も昔ながらの京の町家を見ることができ、よい体験になりました。

We really enjoyed our calligraphy lesson, very well organised with great explanations in English with plenty of information about the cultural aspects of calligraphy in Japanese. Very achievable for all levels, and beautiful results to take home.

Location : It is conveniently located close walking distance(300-500 meters) to a bus stop.There is two bus stops near the 7 -11 . Not all buses go to kyoto station from the closer 7-11 bus stop.

Activity: Started off with drawing on a test cloth. There is several design that you can choose from.We choose from the designs than were available.We used hot wax to initially draw the image on the test and thereafter on the product that you have purchased. I must say that there is two people that ran the dyeing experience. The granny is extremely talented. She watches over you and helps you when you are unsure. She speaks broken English. With her showing you what to do and asking you to do the same in Japanese. It is like the series'lost in translation'. Trust me you will get her eventually The younger gentleman was the one that explained what we had to do and how we initially design the product. The dyeing process is informative and eductional. The dyeing solution doesn't have any smell. I would definitely recommend going for this experience when in Kyoto.

I created a tapestry. Since I participated alone, I was able to proceed at my own pace. Thanks to the staff, who were very kind and provided thorough guidance, I was very satisfied with the finished product. It was so enjoyable that time flew by, and I ended up making another piece as well. I definitely want to go again!

タペストリーを製作しました。一人での参加ということもあり、マイペースに進めることができました。スタッフのかたもとても親切で丁寧に指導してくださったおかげで、とても満足のいく仕上がりになりました。楽しくて時間があっという間に過ぎて、もう一つ別の作品まで作ってしまいました。是非 また 行きたいです！

We participated as a group of five friends. The shop is a little off the main street, but we found it easily. This time, we had the experience of dyeing handkerchiefs with Yuzen, and we were taught very carefully. In just over an hour, everyone created beautiful handkerchiefs. We are all talking about wanting to try making bags and tapestries next time. This has added to our wonderful memories of our trip to Kyoto.

友達5人組で参加させていただきました。お店は大通りから少し入りますが、すぐわかりました。
今回はハンカチの友禅染め体験をさせていただきましたが、とても丁寧に教えていただき、スタートから1時間あまりで皆素敵なハンカチが出来上がりました。今度はバッグやタペストリーなどにも挑戦してみたいと皆で話しています。京都旅行の楽しい思い出が増えました。

On the day of arrival, I didn't have much time, but I thought it would be nice to have a Kyoto-like experience, so I decided to sign up. My friend and I, who are not good at handmade crafts, were both nervous and excited. The templates were organized by theme, making them easy to choose from. They provided aprons, so we didn't have to worry about getting our clothes dirty. The instructions were thorough, and I was able to visually confirm how to use the brush, which made it easy to understand. As I dyed the handkerchief in bright colors following the order of the templates, I ended up with a handkerchief in my own unique color scheme. I accidentally stained a small additional template, but they quickly noticed and wiped it for me. Once the project was completed, I felt relieved and looked around to see many families smiling and showing off their finished works. It became a wonderful memory and a great souvenir for myself. Next time I visit Kyoto, I would like to challenge myself with a larger project, like a T-shirt, just like the person next to me.

到着日に、あまり時間がなかったのですが、何か京都らしい体験はないかと思い、思い切って申し込みました。
手作りは苦手な私と友人はドキドキ、ワクワク。
型紙は、テーマごとにファイルしてあり、選びやすかったのです。
エプロンを貸していただけるので洋服を汚すことはありません。
説明は丁寧で、実際に刷毛の使い方を目で確認が出来て、わかりやすかったです。
明るい色から型紙の順番通りに染めていくと自分らしい色合いのハンカチが出来上がりました。
追加の型が小さく汚してしまったのですが、すぐに気がついて拭いて下さいました。
作品が完成して、ホッとして周りを見渡すと、家族連れが多く、作品が出来上がると笑顔でみせあっていました。

次回の京都旅行の時は、お隣の人のようなTシャツなど、大きな作品に挑戦してみたいと思います。

I arrived by car, so it took about a 3-minute walk from a nearby coin parking to reach this charming town-style shop. The entrance was decorated with many tsumami zaiku (traditional Japanese fabric flower art), which heightened my expectations.

After taking off my shoes at the genkan (entrance area), I found a dining table, and at the back, there was a tatami room with a chabudai (low table) experience corner. When I visited, there were already about seven people experiencing it, and it was quite popular.

You can choose from several options for the flower part and the hairpin, which slightly affects the price. Since it was my first time, I opted for a relatively simple design and chose a brooch type. The small chirimen (crepe fabric) was so delightful to look at that I really had a hard time deciding. I felt there were a bit fewer patterned fabrics, but I managed to choose and started the experience at the table.

It was crowded, so the instructor seemed quite busy moving around, but she paid attention to each person and even made adjustments where needed, resulting in a lovely piece. It might sound exaggerated, but I was very satisfied with the cute item, which was even better than what you can find for sale around there. (I made it with fabric that I liked, haha.)

I had such a fun and satisfying experience that I immediately made a reservation for my next visit.

車での来店でしたので、近隣のコインパーキングから歩いて3分くらいで可愛らしい町屋の様なお店に到着。
玄関には沢山のつまみ細工が飾ってあり期待が膨らみます。
三和土で靴を脱いで上がるとダイニングテーブル、奥には座敷にちゃぶ台の体験コーナーがあります。
私が伺った時には7人程既に体験しており、大盛況でした。
お花？部分と簪は幾つかの中から選べ、それによって料金も少しずつ違います。
初めてだったので、比較的簡単なデザインでブローチタイプを選びました。
小さな縮緬の生地は見ているだけで楽しく本当に迷います。
柄物が少し少なく感じましたが、何とか選んでテーブルでの体験開始です。
混み合っていたので先生はあちこち動き回られて大変そうでしたが、一人ひとりに目を配って下さり、おかしなところは手直しまでしてくれたので、素敵なお品が出来上がりました。
大袈裟ですがその辺りで売っているより可愛いお品で大満足です。《自分好みの生地で作ったのでね 笑》
あまりにも楽しく満足したので、早速次の予約もしてしまいました。

- We visited with a group of nine, including friends and family. We had a wonderful time (＾∇＾).
- The entrance of the shop may not look very large at first glance, but it opens up to a spacious interior. There is a workshop and a souvenir shop combined. It had a distinctly Kyoto atmosphere and charm.
- Since it was everyone's first experience with Kyo Yuzen dyeing, we didn't know what to expect at first, but we finished the handkerchief in about an hour.
- The tote bag takes a bit more time when you get into it, but it's definitely worth it (＾∇＾). There are many other items available, and with a variety of templates, even beginners can create something nice thanks to the templates.
- Surprisingly, the adults were more engrossed than the children (laughs). The staff were kind, there were no time limits, and they patiently taught us anything we didn't understand.
- This is definitely a place I want to revisit when I go to Kyoto again. I'm glad I had the experience. Thank you!

・お店の入り口は、見た感じ大きくはないように見えますが、奥に行くと広い店舗です。工房とお土産ショップが併設されてます。京都らしい雰囲気と佇まいがありました。
・参加者全員が初めての京友禅染でしたので、最初は要領がわからなかったですが、ハンカチは1時間程度で作業はおわりました。
・トートバックは夢中になると、割と時間がかかります。でも、やる価値はあります（＾∇＾）
たくさんのアイテムが他にもあり、テンプレートも豊富で、初心者でもテンプレートのおかげで、それなりのモノが作れました。
・子どもよりも、大人の方が夢中になります（笑）
お店の方が親切で時間制限もなく、わからないコトは丁寧に教えてくださいます。
・また、京都に行った際は、絶対にリピートしたい場所です。体験してみて良かったなと思える場所でした。ありがとうございました。

I decided to participate in an experience to feel the essence of Kyoto with my friend. The dyeing activity involved placing a stencil with cut-out designs on a handkerchief and using a brush to apply dye. The stencils were already prepared, and we could choose the designs we wanted to create. There were beautiful options like Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion), traditional goldfish, cute animals and plants, and even modern illustrations resembling popular characters, making it hard to decide on just one.

I learned that using a gradient would enhance the final look, so thinking about color combinations was enjoyable. My friend initially felt down after struggling with the gradient color combination, but thanks to the staff adjusting the colors, she was able to achieve a result she was happy with.

Since we wanted to try many designs, it took us some time to choose, but I appreciated the staff's encouragement to take our time until we were satisfied. In the end, I created a handkerchief that I really liked! It seems that there are also experiences available for tote bags and fans, so I would like to try those next time.

友人と京都を感じられる体験をしようと思い参加させていただきました。
染物は絵柄が切り抜かれた型紙をハンカチの上に置き、染色剤の絵の具を筆で色付けていくというものでした。
型紙はすでに用意されたものがあり、そこから自分の作りたい型を選びます。京都らしい金閣寺や和風の金魚であったり、可愛らしい動物や植物、今風の萌えキャラっぽいイラストなど、どれもとても素敵でどの柄にしようか迷ってしまいます。
グラデーションにすると仕上がりが綺麗になるとのことで、色の組み合わせを考えるのも楽しかったです。
一緒に参加した友人は、始めグラデーションの色の組み合わせを失敗して落ち込んでいたのですが、お店の方が色を調整してくれたおかげで本人も納得のいく色味の染色ができたと喜んでいました。
せっかくだからたくさんの柄を…と色々選んで時間がかかってしまいましたが、お店の方が「納得がいくまでじっくりやっていってください」と声をかけてくださったのがありがたかったです。おかげさまで自分好みのハンカチが出来上がりました！
ハンカチ以外にもトートバッグや扇子の体験もできるようなので、今度はそちらもチャレンジしてみたいです。
