I wanted to create a memorable experience from my trip to Kyoto, so I was looking for a place to try dyeing. At this workshop, you can dye various items, but we chose to use handkerchiefs. There are many types of stencils available, allowing for a variety of designs, and we created pieces themed around space and flower fields. Since I don't usually think about colors, it was a lot of fun to consider color combinations again after a long time, especially when I successfully created a gradient. I lost track of time and ended up staying for over two hours, but the staff were warm and supportive, making it a very comfortable environment to work in. They also provided aprons, so I could work in my everyday clothes without needing to prepare anything. Although it rained during our trip, the indoor experience meant we didn't have to worry about the weather, and it became a wonderful memory. Thank you very much. I would love to use this workshop again if the opportunity arises.

京都の旅の思い出に何か体験して、形に残るものを作りたいということになり、染物ができる場所を探していました。
この工房ではハンカチの他にも色々な種類のものに染色ができますが、私たちはハンカチを利用させていただきました。
型紙の種類が豊富でいろんなデザインができますが、
私たちは、宇宙のテーマと花畑をテーマにして作りました。
普段色を考えることがないので、久しぶりに色の配色を考えたり、組み合わせでグラデーションがうまくできた時はとても楽しかったです。
楽しさのあまりに時間を忘れて２時間以上滞在してしまいましたが、
スタッフさんは 温かく見守って頂き、とても安心してやりやすい環境でした。
エプロンも用意していただけるので、何も用意なく普段着で作業ができました。
旅行であいにくの雨だったのですが、建物内の体験なので 気にすることなく とても良い思い出になりました。
ありがとうございました。また機会があれば利用したいです。

I really enjoyed creating my own kanzashi and would recommend it. The instructors were helpful and patient.

I love handmade crafts, so I signed up for the easy handkerchief course for now. There are so many patterns to choose from, and I enjoyed thinking about how to arrange them and what colors to use. Later, I heard that there were larger patterns the size of a handkerchief, and I felt a bit disappointed that I didn't choose one of those.

There are flowers, animals, birds, moons and stars, and food like vegetables, and the more I looked, the more I got confused, so I decided to start with a simple flower. I love summer patterns like goldfish and morning glories, but flowers are definitely vibrant.

I tried painting periwinkles, morning glories, and irises, and since there was still some space left, I added goldfish and grapes. It feels a bit scattered, yet cohesive (laughs).

But I ended up with a beautiful and vibrant handkerchief. It seems like you can also make tote bags and fans, so I think that would be nice for next time. The two hours flew by. Thank you very much!

手づくりが好きなので、ひとまず手軽なハンカチのコースで申し込みました。型もたーくさんあって、どんな配置にしようか、色はどうしようか、と考える時間も楽しくて。後でお聞きしたら、ハンカチ大の大柄な型もあったらしく、そっちでも良かったなぁと少し残念でした。
お花、動物、鳥、月や星、野菜などの食べ物など、見れば見るほど迷ってしまうので、ひとまずわかりやすいお花をひとつ。金魚と朝顔、みたいな夏の柄が大好きですが、お花はやっぱり華やかです。
日日草と朝顔、菖蒲を描いてみて、まだまだ余白があるので、金魚と葡萄を書きました。まとまりないような、あるような（笑）。
でも、華やかで素敵なハンカチができました。
トートバッグや扇子なども作れるようなので、次はそんなのもいいなぁ。あっという間の2時間でした。ありがとうございました。

The experience itself was very good. However, I felt somewhat neglected, and I would have appreciated advice on how to choose patterns to make them look beautiful, or when to sprinkle the gold powder. The craftsman who followed up with us later was excellent. Perhaps they were a young staff member, as they were on the phone in the back the whole time.

体験自体は非常にいい体験になりました。
ですが、結構ほったらかしにされたので柄をどういったの選んだら綺麗にできるとか、金粉をどのタイミングでふればいいとかそういうアドバイスが頂きたかったです。
途中からフォローしていただいた職人さんは非常によかったです。
若い運営の方でしょうか、ずっと裏にこもってお電話されていました。

We learned how to wrap the cloth and tie the cloth to make a certain pattern. Then we boiled the cloth in the die to produce the pattern. The out come was a beautiful pattern on a silk handkerchief keepsake. The instructors spoke English and shared the history and techniques of Shibori with us.

I went with my friends during Golden Week. It was great that people of all ages could easily enjoy it. Also, since there were templates available, it was fine even for those without artistic skills (laughs).

On the day of the visit, I changed the reservation time over the phone, and they kindly said it was no problem. There was a shop selling items like coin purses in front of the experience workshop, but when we arrived, no one was there, which made me a bit anxious. However, as we moved further into the workshop, we found staff members and many customers, including some from overseas!

For the experience, I chose to work with a handkerchief. First, I selected the design I wanted from a file. Once decided, the staff showed me a sample. I took dye on a brush, diluted it on cooking paper, and then applied the color to the handkerchief. The key is to remove the excess dye from the brush and dilute it well. It’s said to be better to eliminate the shiny parts from the dye before applying color.

The elementary school child sitting next to me, their parent, and a group of university students were all deeply focused on their experiences. The designs included a variety of themes, such as plants and animals, a maiko from Kyoto, and even cartoonish sound effects. It took quite a while to decide on a design (laughs).

当日になって、電話にて予約時間の変更をしたのですが、快く大丈夫と言ってくださいました。
体験工房の手前にがま口などを販売しているショップがあるのですが、到着時、どなたもいらっしゃらなくてちょっと不安になりました。奥の工房まで進むとスタッフさん達や沢山のお客さんがいらっしゃいました。中には海外からのお客さんも！

体験は、ハンカチを選択しました。はじめにファイルの中から、自分がやりたい絵型を選びます。決まったら、スタッフさんが実際にお手本を見せてくれます。染料を筆に取って、クッキングペーパーの上でうすーくしてから、ハンカチに色をのせていきます。筆の余分な染料を落として、うすーくするのがポイントだそうです。筆の染料でテカテカ光った部分をなくしてから、色をつけていくと良いのだとか。

隣に座っていた小学校低学年くらいの子も、その親御さんも、また大学生らしきグループも皆さんもくもくと夢中になって体験していました。
絵型は、動植物や京都らしい舞子さんに金閣寺、はたまた漫画チックな効果音のものなどバリエーション豊かです。デザイン決定まで結構時間がかかってしまいました(笑)

Since we came all the way to Kyoto, we wanted to create a one-of-a-kind souvenir! My husband and I participated together. We received an explanation of the production method from the staff and first chose a design for Yuzen dyeing. There were plenty of designs to choose from, and since we colored them using templates, the actual process was very simple. It's great that anyone, regardless of age or gender, can do it! However, once we started working, the desire to create something original led to a serious atmosphere, resulting in a silent working time... Fortunately, the staff provided guidance and advice while observing our progress, so we were able to finish with confidence♪

What we experienced was a handkerchief-sized item, but I became attached to the piece I made, so I added felt backing and a border to use it as a center cross in my living room. If I have the chance to go to Kyoto again, I would love to create another one.

せっかく京都に来たのだから、世界に１つだけのお土産を作ろう！という思いで
主人と２人で参加させていただきました。
お店の方から製作方法の説明を受け、まずは友禅染をしたいデザインをチョイス。
豊富にあるデザインの中から、好きなものを選んで型紙で彩色していくので、
作業工程自体はとても簡単。
老若男女問わず誰でも出来るというのがGood！
でも、作業を始めると少しでもオリジナリティーが溢れる作品が作りたいという気持ちから、
真剣がゆえに無言の作業時間が続くのでした…。
途中には、お店の方が作業の様子を見ながら指導やアドバイスをしてくれたので、
安心して最後まで仕上げることができました♪

今回体験したのはハンカチサイズのものだったのですが、
作った作品に愛着が生まれてしまい、裏当てのフェルトと縁をつけて
リビングでのセンタークロスとして使わせてもらっています。
また京都に行く機会があれば、さらにもう１つ作りたいと思っています。

If you're going to Kyoto, you definitely want to have a traditional experience! I found this place and decided to join. There were various options, but I chose the course where you transfer mother-of-pearl onto a round plate because it looked shiny and beautiful.

Since I decided to participate at the last minute, I didn't think about the design beforehand, but I found a pattern I liked, cut out the mother-of-pearl, and worked on beautifully outlining the edges. It surprisingly took a lot of time, and the two and a half hours flew by. I was a bit rushed afterward because I had plans, so there were some rough parts, but it turned out to be a lovely souvenir.

I learned that they could accommodate designs I brought in, so I wish I had thought it through more. The instructors were very kind, so if you enjoy handmade crafts and tradition, I definitely recommend participating!

折角京都に行くのなら、伝統的な体験をしてみたい！と思い見つけたのがこちらでした。色々種類がありましたが、キラキラしてキレイそうだったので螺鈿を丸絵皿に写すコースを選びました。
参加を決めたのが直前だったため、何も構図を考えず参加してしまいましたが気に入った絵柄を見つけ、螺鈿を切り取り、更に周りを綺麗に縁取る、という作業を行いました。意外に時間がかかり、あっという間の2時間半でした。体験後に予定を作ってしまい慌てていた為、ちょっと雑な部分が出来てしまいましたが素敵なお土産になりました。
ただ、持ち込んだ図案でも対応可能だったようなので、もっと考えておけばよかったな、と思います。丁寧に教えて下さるので手作りや伝統がお好きな方は是非参加されて見てください。

I signed up for this experience at the request of my elementary school child, who loves not only sightseeing but also making things. My fourth-grade child and I worked on handkerchiefs, while my sixth grader took on a tenugui.

The kids are full of curiosity, but at first, they struggled to blend the dye with the brush. Each time, the staff at the workshop patiently taught us. As the children got more comfortable, their ideas started to expand... they began mixing colors in complex ways and adding more designs, leading to an endless flow of creativity. The fun time flew by!

Although we planned to finish the handkerchiefs in about an hour, we were so absorbed in moving the brush that two and a half hours passed before we knew it. Each child chose their favorite design: one depicted the four gods from Chinese mythology, another created a scene with their beloved Rascal and animals, and I painted cherry blossoms that captured the essence of the seasons.

From modern designs to classical ones, and even characters the kids love, there was a wide variety to choose from, making it undeniably fun! Thanks to this experience, all of our works are uniquely our own! The children were thrilled with an experience they don’t usually get, and they were completely satisfied, saying they wanted to "challenge themselves with a bigger project next time."

When we showed our creations to the family, they were impressed! Since we didn’t compare them to the examples, ours were the best (laughs). It became the best memory for the kids. Thank you to everyone at the workshop for taking care of us for such a long time.

私と４年生の子供はハンカチを、６年生は手ぬぐいに挑戦です。
とにかく好奇心旺盛な子供達ですが最初は染料をハケでぼかしていくのがうまくいかず四苦八苦
その都度、工房の皆さんは丁寧に教えてくれます
子供も慣れてくるとアイディアがどんどん膨らみ・・・色合いも複雑に絡ませてみたり・・・
図柄を増やしたりと構想は無限に広がり飽きる事の無い楽しい時間はアッという間！
ハンカチなら１時間もあれば完成の予定が・・・夢中でハケを動かしあれやこれやで２時間半も経っていました。
子供達はそれぞれ好きな図柄を選び一人は中国の神話に出てくる四神を、一人は大好きなラスカルと動物達を、私は季節感たっぷりの桜を描きました
現代的な図柄から古典的なもの子供達の好きなキャラクターものまで多種多様で選ぶのも楽しい事間違いなし♪
お蔭様で作品ぜ～んぶ自分流！
子供たちも日頃出来ない体験に目を輝かせ、次は「もっと大きな作品にチャレンジしたい」と大満足のひとときでした
家族に見せたら絶賛！・・・お手本と比べないので私達のが最高（笑）
子供達の最高の思い出になりました
工房の皆様、長時間に渡りお世話になりました。

We participated as a group of women from three generations: in their 60s, 40s, and 10s. Two of us had color fans, and one had a tumbler, so we applied at the same time and communicated to ensure we were in the same group, just to be safe.

Choosing the design took a lot of time, and selecting the colors took even longer, totaling about two hours. The staff were very kind; they helped us find designs that matched our vision and offered advice on color combinations. Since the fans are made from fabric, they will be shipped to us later. I definitely want to participate again!

60代、40代、10代の3世代の女ばかりで参加しました。2人が色扇子、1人がタンブラーでしたので、同じ時間にそれぞれ申し込み、念の為に同じグループであることを連絡しました。
絵柄の型を選ぶのにとっても時間がかかってしまい、配色にもさらに時間がかかり、合計で2時間かかってしまいました。
スタッフの方は、イメージに合う型を一緒に探してくれたり、配色のアドバイ をくれたりとても親切でした。扇子は布から扇子に仕立ててもらうので、後日発送してくれます。是非また参加したいです。

That Yuzuen course is for beginners I think. My husband had good time to make it - but he isn't a artist so he told me it was nice. For me it was just nothing special - just drawing on mat - but I had good time too. Raden was more interesting if you are an artist. Something new.

Polecam dla początkujących. Jeśli dobrze malujesz, będziesz się raczej nudzić. Zdecydowanie bardziej polecam Raden, to coś czego w Polsce nie ma. Yuzuen to po prostu malowanie na tkaninie, nic wiecej .

Zdecydowanie polecam te zajęcia :) Świetnie bawiliśmy się wraz z mężem tworząc różne rzeczy takie jak Raden i Yuzuen. Chętnie wrócimy następnym razem, tym razem robiąc własne rysunki.

It was a great time. Next time we will come back. I think everyone who is an artist should try it.

This was my first time making a hairpin, and I was a bit anxious, but the staff were very kind and guided me well, allowing me to finish it. I aimed for a Taisho Roman style, carefully selecting the fabric and paying attention to the color scheme and arrangement, which made the process very enjoyable. I reaffirmed how nice it is to create something by hand! I ended up with a hairpin that matched my vision, making for a fulfilling hour. I was also able to purchase some parts, so when I get home, I’ll make an original hairpin with leftover fabric!

簪作りは初めてで、少々不安でしたが、スタッフの方々がとても親切にご指導くださり、仕上げる事が出来ました。大正ロマン風なイメージを目指し生地選びをし、配色、配置に気を配りながらの工程がとても楽しく　"あー手作りっていいもんだなー”　と再確認！！
イメージ通りの簪になってとても充実した１時間でした。パーツも購入する事が出来たので、帰宅したら端布でオリジナル簪　作りまーす。

This time, I went on my first solo trip to Kyoto.

On the first day, I arrived at Kyoto Station in the evening, and considering the check-in time, I thought it would be tough to visit any temples. While I was looking for options, I discovered this place! They accept visitors until 5 PM, so I was able to experience it without rushing.

As expected, they efficiently prepared and explained everything, and we quickly got started with the dyeing process. They came to check on us just enough to not disrupt our concentration, allowing me to feel at ease even while doing it alone.

There were various patterns to choose from, and it was fun selecting one!

初日は、夕方に京都駅到着というスケジュールでチェックインの時間も考えるとお寺さんとかに行くのは厳しいかなと、探しているところにこちらを発見！
17時まで受け付けしてくださるので、バタバタせずに体験することができました。

さすが、手際よく準備説明してくださり、さっそく染め付け。
集中を乱さない程度に様子を見に来ていただけ、ひとりでも安心して体験することができました。

柄もいろいろあり、選ぶのも楽しかったです！

It was a pain to fund the location, the address given on the map is not where the shop is located at all. But it's a cool souvineer, especially if you live in Japan because between firing and shipping its going to take a month to be delivered.

Learn a lot from the class. It is a valuable experience. Highly recommend

The instructor is patient and kind. She really knows what she's doing and shows you everything you need to know to make beautiful fabric flowers in the Japanese style.

Even though it looked like it would be tough, the teacher was really thorough, so I could bring the kanzashi I imagined into reality. Choosing my own fabrics, colors, and designs was really fun.

母と二人で参加しました。母はエコバック、私はブックカバーを選びました。とても丁寧に教えていただき、楽しみながら体験することができました。何だかはまってしまいそうです（笑）
ブックカバーは裏地が様々な種類があったんですが、表は白の一色だったので、色々な色があれば、なおよかったとも思います。が、とても楽しかったので次に京都に行ったときにも体験したいです！！次はタンブラーかランチョンマットにしようかな・・・。

3.4時間のはずが一日かかりましたが、分からないところや難しいところは優しくフォロー下さり、(時に上手に出来ていると乗せられ笑)また行きたくなる染物体験でした。

After I finished choosing, I took my seat, and they carefully explained how to make the hairpin. They also showed me a sample up close, which made it very easy to understand. If I had any questions, they patiently explained things again.

I made a mistake at one point, but they helped me fix that part, which was very helpful. So, you shouldn't have to leave with any mistakes. The instructor was very friendly and had a lot of smiles, which made me feel at ease.

Thanks to them, I was able to create a beautiful hairpin. I'm really glad I went, and I definitely want to visit again.

京つまみ細工体験所に行くまでに、バスに乗ればすぐ近くにつきます。場所は入り組んでいないので地図を見ればすぐに見つけられる場所にありました。
早めについたのですが、丁寧に出迎えてくれて中に上がらせてくれました。
中にいくと、周りに色んな柄の簪があり、どれも目を奪われました。

本題の簪作りの体験談ですが
作れる簪の花の種類は決まっていて、その中から作りたいものを選ぶという形でした。
種類は少なくはないので心配はいらないと思います。
私は今回3000円コースでしたので、作れる種類が4種類しかなかったですが、十分でした。

まずは、花の色を決めるために、小さく切ってある色とりどりの布を選びます。
種類が豊富で、悩むのに時間がかかりました。
選び終わった後、席につき、作り方を丁寧に教えてもらいました。お手本も近くでみせてくれるので、とてもわかりやすかったです。わからないところがあったら、聞いたらもう一回丁寧に教えなおしてくれました。
途中までいって、一か所失敗してしまったのですが、そこの部分を手直ししてくれてとても助かりました。なので、失敗したまま帰ることはないはずです。
先生は笑顔が多く、優しい方でしたので安心できました。


おかげで綺麗な簪を作れました。本当に行ってよかったです。
またぜひとも行きたいと思っています。

迷っても、「いいんですよ～、たくさん迷ってくださいね！」と言って頂いて、急ぐことなく選ぶことが出来ました。また、作成中も、ご丁寧に教えて頂いて･･･どんなけ失敗思想になっても、きちんと直してくださいました。おかげさまですてきな作品に仕上がることが出来ました。
