We visited for lunch with our family of four. I think it would be difficult to go without a reservation on the same day. We made a reservation through Veltra. However, it was a bit unclear when the meal was finished. I think having a menu would make it easier to understand whether we were done or if more dishes were coming.

家族4人、お昼ご飯で利用させて頂きました。当日に行こうと思ってもなかなか行けないと思います。このベルトラさんで予約しました。　
ただ、食事の終わりが少しわかりずらかったです。もう、終わりなのか、まだ出るのか、お品書きがあるとわかりやすいと思いました。

I experienced the set plan that includes a visit to Eikando and a yudofu meal. The yudofu meal was very delicious. There was no waiting since the entrance for the Eikando visit was separate. However, the dining area did not have partitions or proper ventilation between customers, and the COVID-19 infection control measures were lacking. Additionally, there were no restrictions on the number of visitors for the Eikando visit, resulting in quite a crowded situation.

永観堂の拝観と湯豆腐御膳のセットプランを体験しました。湯豆腐御膳のセットはとても美味しかったです。永観堂の拝観も入館場所は別にしてあったので並ぶことはありませんでした。
ただ、食事会場は他のお客さまとの仕切りや換気等はされていなく、コロナ感染対策は甘かったのと、永観堂も拝観の入場に制限などはなく、かなり密の状態でした。

I have been visiting for many years, but I always gave up on seeing the site due to the long lines at the ticket booth. This year, I decided to make a reservation for tickets along with lunch. It was the right choice. Since it was the best season, there was a long line at the ticket booth. We glanced at it while heading to the designated area, and when we were unsure, a staff member kindly guided us to the reception. There were a few groups ahead of us in the dining area, but they were quite spaced out, so we were able to enjoy our meal comfortably. After that, we were able to enter smoothly through the dedicated entrance, which was a given.

何年も前から訪問していますが、いつも大行列（チケット売り場）で拝観をあきらめていました。今年こそはと思い昼食を兼ね当チケットを予約しました。正解でした。ベストシーズンと言うことでチケット売り場は大行列。私たちは横目で見ながら指定の場所方面へ、わからないでいると係の方が親切に受付まで案内していただきました。食堂は数組の先客が見えましたが、結構離れていて安心して食事を頂きました。その後専用入り口でスムーズに入ることが出来ましたのは言うまでもありませんでした。。

The autumn leaves are beautifully illuminated! Since it was during a holiday, there was a huge line when we arrived at our reserved time. Despite the crowd, the staff kindly guided us to the priority entrance.

The illumination at Eikando was more beautiful than I expected, making this course worth choosing. We were also able to enjoy the autumn leaves while sipping tea at a resting spot in the garden.

After leisurely viewing the leaves, we had a kaiseki meal at a designated restaurant. There were many dishes, and it exceeded my expectations, leaving me very satisfied.

The large hall had seating on tatami mats, which added to the atmosphere, but I think it might have been a bit challenging for those with mobility issues.

As for COVID-19 measures, they ensured that diners were not seated at the same time as others, but I noticed that some tables were already set up for guests who had not yet been seated, which made it a bit concerning as people walked by.

Overall, it was a very satisfying experience, and I highly recommend it!

見頃を迎えた紅葉のライトアップ！
連休中だったので、事前予約の時間に行くと敷地内はすごい行列が出来ていました。混雑している中、係の方が丁寧に優先入場口まで案内してくれました。
永観堂のライトアップは、予想以上の美しさで、このコースを選んだ価値がありました。
園内の休憩どころで、お茶を飲みながらの紅葉鑑賞も出来ました。
ゆっくり拝観した後は、指定の食事処で紅葉会席を頂きました。品数も多く、期待以上の会席で大満足でした。
大広間で、お座敷での着席だったので、風情はありましたが脚の悪い方はちょっと大変だったと思います。
コロナ対策としては、隣の方と同じ時間帯の食事にならないよう配慮されていましたが、まだ着席していない所も既にお膳がセットされている状態なので、その横を人が通ったりしていた為、少し気になりました。
全体的には大満足のコースでしたので、是非おすすめしたいです。

Last year, I went to the light-up event at Eikando, but I had to wait in a long line for over an hour before it started. So this year, I participated in this plan that allows you to enjoy Eikando during the day without waiting. I was also attracted by the yudofu and yuba set meal!

On the day of the event, there was no waiting, and we could enjoy our meal right away! It was delicious. The autumn leaves seemed to have progressed quickly this year, and it felt like this long weekend was the last chance to see them at their best, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought it was a bit pricey, but the positive reviews and the appeal of being able to enter without waiting in line drew me in, so I decided to participate for the first time.

The meal was more luxurious than I expected, and I enjoyed it very much. However, perhaps because it was the last day of the light-up event and the peak time had passed, or maybe due to the impact of COVID-19, when I entered around 5:30 PM, there was an incredible line and the garden was crowded with people. But when I left around 7 PM and looked at the entrance, there was no line for registration at all.

I think it's a good plan for those who want both the meal and the light-up, but since I'm not particular about the food, I might just come back next time, pay the regular admission fee, and visit at a different time.

ちょっとお高めかなと思ったものの、口コミが良かったのと、何より、行列を尻目に待たずに入れるというのに魅力を感じて、初めて参加してみました。

お食事は思った以上に豪華で、美味しくいただきました。
ただ、ライトアップ最終日でピークを過ぎていたせいか、今年はコロナ禍の影響か、17時半頃に入ったときは物凄い行列でお庭も人だらけだったのが、帰り19時頃に入り口を見ると、受付待ちの列はゼロでした。。

お食事もライトアップも、という方にはちょうど良いプランとおもいますが、私は食事に拘らないほうなので、次回以降は、時間ずらして普通に拝観料だけ払って見に来るかな。

The peak season had passed, but the autumn leaves were still quite beautiful. The food was decent. There was a long line for general admission. However, since we arrived quite early for the meal-inclusive course, we had to wait until the admission time.

The dining location was a hall far from the autumn leaves, and we had to sit on a tatami mat in a large room without cushions. I was completely disappointed with the cold, hard tempura, yuba side dishes, and grilled fish! I was shocked by the unappealing salt packets, the yuba stuck to the dishes, the wilted green onions floating in the yudofu sauce, and the hard tempura! It was sad for my elderly mother... If it was a tatami room, that should have been clearly stated.

Since it wasn't peak season, we could have entered Eikando smoothly just for the visit, so this reservation was completely unnecessary. When we showed the voucher, the staff member was not friendly at all, and we were made to wait multiple times, creating an atmosphere of uncertainty about whether our reservation was actually valid. My feet were cold, and I really regretted not having lunch at another restaurant! The nearby parking was completely available without needing a reservation.

The presentation of the food was indeed impressive.

料理をいただく場所が紅葉から離れた会館で、それも大広間で座布団もない畳の上に座り、冷えて硬くなった天ぷらや湯葉付け合わせや焼き魚に、全くもってガッカリでした！
風情のない塩の袋や、食器にくっついた湯葉や、湯豆腐のタレに浮かんだ枯れたネギや、硬い天ぷらにはビックリでした！
高齢の母がいたので可哀想で、、、
お座敷ならそれを明記すべきですね。

トップシーズンじゃなかったので、永観堂拝観だけでもスムーズに入場出来ていたので、この予約はまったく必要なかったです。
バウチャーを見せて、案内する方も、まったく愛想もなく、何度も待たされ、本当に予約出来ているのかこちらが不安になる雰囲気で、足は冷たいし他のお店でランチすすれば良かったと大後悔！
近隣駐車場も、予約する必要もなく、全然空いていました。

料理の飾りつけだけは、見事ですね。

I visited on December 5th. Since I arrived a bit early, I waited near the reception, and the staff came to guide me to the dining area. There was hand sanitizer at the entrance, and even when seated with others, we were placed diagonally across from each other and quite far apart, so the COVID-19 measures were thorough, allowing me to enjoy my meal with peace of mind. Although the peak foliage season had passed, there were still some autumn leaves left, and I enjoyed the carpet of fallen leaves. There weren't any people in line for the temple visit, so the advantage of having made a reservation was minimal, but it allowed me to take my time during the visit, and the yudofu (tofu hot pot) set was delicious. Next time, I will visit during the peak season.

入り口には消毒液、同席でも斜め対面に座ったり隣の席とも結構離れていて、コロナ対策も万全で安心して食事出来ました。
見頃は過ぎていましたがまだ紅葉も残っていて敷き紅葉も楽しめました。
拝観列に並んでいる方がいなかったのでこちらを予約したメリットは少なかったですがその分ゆっくり拝観出来て、湯豆腐御前も美味しかったです。
今度は一番の見頃の時期に伺います。

The start time for the illumination attracts an incredible number of people, so it might be good in the sense that you can enter without waiting in line, but once inside, it's just people everywhere. The autumn leaves and the illumination are very beautiful, but I felt there wasn't much time to enjoy them leisurely. The food portions are quite large, but it's just okay. By the time we finished our meal and left, the lines had eased up a bit, so coming a little later might be a good option for the general public.

ライトアップ開始時間には凄まじい人なので、そこに並ばずに入れるという意味ではいいかもしれませんが、入っても人・人・人です。
紅葉とライトアップはとても綺麗ですが、それをゆっくり楽しむ余裕はあまりないように感じました。
お食事も、量はとても多いですが、まあ、、、というところです。
食事を終えて出る頃には行列も多少緩和していたので、少し遅めの時間に来れば一般でもいいかもしれません。

I thought I would be able to enjoy my meal while viewing the autumn leaves, but I couldn't see them from inside the dining building. The meal itself was plentiful and luxurious, which was great. The autumn leaves were a bit early in the season, with some green still mixed in, but they were enchanting and very beautiful.

On my way to watch the NHK Trophy figure skating competition, I stopped by Kyoto. After arriving from Tokyo, I headed to Arashiyama by JR, and then visited here. When making the reservation, I could choose between 11:00 and 12:30, and I opted for 12:30.

- I took a one-day unlimited bus pass from Kyoto Station to the nearest bus stop.
- The staff checking the E voucher at the group parking lot (no personal parking allowed), the guides, and the servers were all very polite and cheerful.
- The dining room had great social distancing and ventilation; it might get cold as the season progresses.
- The white miso soup with colorful wheat gluten was delicious.
- Unfortunately, the autumn leaves were past their peak.
- I vaguely saw the statue of "Mikaeri Amida" and was moved when I later researched its meaning.
- After this, I transferred buses to Tofuku-ji, and since it was until 16:00, I had to hurry.

Having come all the way to Kyoto, I was a bit rushed wanting to see various things, but I was able to enjoy a leisurely meal here. Thank you very much!

*Given the current situation, I wore a mask, sanitized when getting on and off trains and buses, put my mask back on right after finishing my meal, frequently used takeout, and at the NHK Trophy venue, I made sure to only applaud without cheering.*

フィギュアスケートのNHK杯を観戦するため大阪に行く途中で立ち寄った京都。東京から到着してすぐにJRで嵐山へ向かい、その後こちらを訪れました。予約時に11:00と12:30が選べましたが、12:30にしました。

・京都駅からバス1日乗り放題券で最寄りのバス停へ
・団体用駐車場（個人の駐車不可）でEバウチャーをチェックする方、案内の方、配膳の方、皆さんとても丁寧でにこやか
・食事の部屋はソーシャルディスタンスと換気がばっちり、季節が進むと寒いかも？
・白味噌とカラフルな麩のお味噌汁がおいしい
・紅葉は残念ながら盛り過ぎ
・ぼんやり拝見した「みかえり阿弥陀」の像、今になって意味を調べて感動
・この後バスを乗り継いで東福寺へ、16:00までなので駆け足

せっかく訪れた京都、いろいろ見たくてバタバタしていましたが、こちらでの食事の時間はゆったりと過ごすことができました。ありがとうございました！

※このご時世なので、マスク着用、電車やバスに乗っては消毒、降りては消毒、食事が終わったらすぐマスク、テイクアウトも多用、NHK杯の会場では掛け声なしの拍手のみで気をつけました。

I was looking forward to the kaiseki cuisine, but it was cold and not delicious. I appreciated that they changed my seat to a chair when I mentioned my leg issues, but I wish they had confirmed this at the time of booking.

楽しみにしていた懐石料理が冷めてて、美味しくなかったです。

There was a reception area in front of the restrooms on the left after entering Eikando. Since I had a meal at 19:00, I received my admission ticket upon checking in. I arrived around 17:00, and about 15 minutes later, a guide came to take us to the dining area, where those having a meal entered the hall first.

The visitors for the temple viewing waited for 30 minutes at the group entrance nearby and were allowed to enter before the group at 17:30. The general entrance is very close, so many people were coming in from there, but I was able to view everything without any crowding. Since it’s a one-way route, you cannot go back. I left before 18:00, so it was still an hour early, but when I asked at the dining hall, I was guided right away. The meal was better than I expected. The restrooms were also available, which was nice. I would like to participate again if I have the chance.

永観堂を入って左手トイレ前に受付がありました。19～食事にしていたので、受付をすると拝観券を頂きました。17時頃着いたのですが、15分くらいに案内の方が来て、食事する場所へ行き、先に食事の人は会館に入っていきました。
拝観先の人はすぐそばの団体入口で30分まで待機して、17時30分に団体より先に入れました。一般の入口がすぐ近くにあるので、そこからどんどん人が入ってきましたが、混雑なく見ることができました。一方通行なので、戻ることはできません。18時前には出てきたので、まだ1時間早いですが食事する会館で聞いてみたところすぐ案内されました。食事は思っていた以上に良かったです。トイレも空いてるのでいいです。また機会があれば参加したいです。

We were guided to the front row without having to wait in line, and we enjoyed the illuminated scenery with no one else around! The meal, including yudofu and chilled cha soba, warmed us up. I made a reservation for a yudofu lunch with admission tickets to Eikando for mid-November. The deep crimson leaves of Eikando left a lasting impression on both my 80-year-old mother and me during our mother-daughter trip. The yudofu set was just the right portion for both of us and was delicious. We entered Eikando from the parking lot of the Eikando Kaikan with a fast pass-like experience, and both the main hall and the Amida Buddha were wonderful. The autumn leaves were particularly stunning, making it the best time to see them in Kyoto. I also love the area along the Philosopher's Path leading to Eikando and Nanzen-ji. I would like to make a reservation again next year.

I participated with my 81-year-old mother on December 1st. I was disappointed that the autumn leaves in Arashiyama the day before were mostly gone, but the illuminated leaves at Eikando were beautiful. Due to the impact of COVID-19, there were significantly fewer visitors than usual, allowing us to enjoy the viewing in peace. I had low expectations because of previous reviews about the staff and meals, but both my mother and I found it to be much better than we had anticipated. I recommend this tour.

I booked a tour because it would be tough to stand in line with my elderly parents who have mobility issues. As a result, it was quite nice this year since the autumn leaves came early and it was a weekday, so it wasn't crowded at all.

I didn't have high expectations for the food based on other reviews, but the small portions of kaiseki cuisine were easy for the elderly to eat, which was great. The yudofu was warm and there were no issues with that. If I had to mention something, the tempura was cold, so it would have been better if it were warm.

Also, it would have been nice if the room was a bit warmer, but since we were the first ones there, I guess it can't be helped (laughs).

足が悪い高齢の両親を連れて行くのに、並ぶのはきついのでツアーを予約しました。
結果、今年は紅葉も早かった＆平日だったことから空いていましたが、とても良かったです。
他の方の口コミでお料理が今ひとつかと思って期待していませんでしたが、少しずつの会席料理は高齢者にとっては食べやすくて良かったです。湯豆腐も温かく、問題ありませんでした。強いて言うなら、天ぷら等は冷たかったので温かいとなお良いかと思いますが・・・。
あと、お部屋がもう少し暖かいと良かったですが、一番乗りだったので仕方ないですね(笑)

The weather was favorable, and although we had already passed the peak of the autumn leaves, the fallen leaves at Eikando were beautiful. For us, who prefer the yudofu from the Nanzenji area, the yudofu here was delicious as well. Additionally, we didn't have to wait long to buy tickets, which eased our concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic. Meeting at the location was also convenient and nice.

I kept thinking until the end, "Please let this be a prank." I simply couldn't believe the situation I was in.

The room I was taken to was a conference room? No, it felt more like a break room for part-time workers. I sat down at a conference table, half in disbelief. Of course, it was just a folding chair. The lack of even a tablecloth made it clear that there was no intention of hospitality whatsoever.

I didn't feel it was worth the cost at all, but I was glad to be able to enter without waiting because I wanted to see the autumn light-up at Eikando Temple at least once. This time, the autumn leaves in Kyoto were nearing the end, which was disappointing. However, the Eikando Temple still had some beautiful red leaves left, so that was nice. I had confirmed in advance through a guidebook that Eikando was beautiful, so I was glad I went. If I hadn't visited Eikando, this trip to Kyoto would have felt lonely.

The line to get in seems to stretch through the parking lot, and you may have to wait about 1.5 hours. This is a tour you can't miss if you're planning to wrap up your day at Eikando after seeing various sights, as you can manage your time well.

You can either enjoy the illumination after having your meal or take your time to eat after viewing the autumn leaves. Note that the illumination follows a specific route, so you can't go against the flow. If you want to enjoy the illumination first, you'll need to exit and then inform the reception that you haven't had your meal yet, and you can return to the dining area.

The meal options include yudofu, and I was satisfied with both the variety and quantity. 食事は湯豆腐もあって種類も量も満足できました。永観堂近辺では食事する場所は近くにないし、とにかく人が多いので街なかに出ることを考えると、ここで食事できるのは本当に便利です。
