The meal at Hanagokoro was very delicious. I was satisfied to be able to eat my favorite yuba! It was very happy to enjoy matcha and sweets while viewing the autumn leaves. Thank you very much.

The food was delicious, and the atmosphere and staff were great. However, the tour guide and another tour conductor ended up eating their staff meal at the counter seat next to mine, and their chatter disrupted the quiet ambiance of the restaurant. It seemed that a separate staff meal area had been prepared, but this regular customer-like tour conductor wanted to sit in that seat and forced a move. If the tour conductor is allowed to eat at the same table as the customers, they should eat with their own customers. I think they should be seated separately from now on, especially since a complaint came from a customer. I wasn't feeling great about this, so I lowered my rating by one star.
お料理も美味しかったし、雰囲気もスタッフも良かったです。
しかし、他のツアーの添乗員とガイドが私の並びのカウンター席でまかないを食べることになり、彼らのおしゃべりが静かな店の雰囲気を壊していました。
まかない席は別に用意してあったようですが、この常連らしい傍若無人な添乗員が、この席に座りたかったらしく、無理矢理移動した感じでした。
添乗員がお客さんと同じ席で食べて良いなら、自分のお客さんと食べれば良いと思います。
お客さんから苦情が入ったと言って、次回からは別席にされてください。
ちょっと気分がよくなかったので、評価は一つ落としました。

I had a great experience for 1500 yen! However, the time allotted seemed short, and as a beginner, I didn't have enough time to make satisfactory wagashi. It felt a bit rushed. But I enjoyed it and had a lot of fun! (*ˊᗜˋ*)ノ୨୧*.゚
1500円でオトクな体験ができました!
ただ時間設定が短かったのか、素人には時間が足りなくて、満足のいく和菓子は作れませんでした。駆け足な感じが強かったです。

Unfortunately, I ended up participating just as a typhoon was approaching. I was a little late for the shuttle bus meeting time, but when I contacted them, they were very kind and waited for me, which was a great help. Fortunately, the rain wasn't too strong, just light, so we had our meal at a semi-indoor table facing the river. I chose the bamboo course, and when I saw the photos, I wondered if it would be enough. Since it was lunch, I thought it might be just a small portion, but surprisingly, there was a good amount and it was delicious! Next time, I would like to participate on a sunny day.
ちょうど運悪く、台風が近づいてきた時の参加となってしまいました。
送迎バスの集合時間に少し遅れてしまったのですが、連絡を入れた際とても優しく対応下さり、ちゃんとお待ち頂き助かりました。
幸いなことにそこまで強くはなく小雨でしたので、半屋内のテーブルで川側を向いてのお食事でした。
私は竹コースでしたが、写真を見た時は足りるかな?ランチだしこんなものかな?と思っていたのですが、意外にしっかり量もあり美味しかったです!
今度は晴れた日に参加してみたいです。

I participated this time at the request of my two children, a toddler and an elementary school student. I ended up focusing on the younger one and couldn't pay much attention to the older one, but the staff was attentive and both of them managed to complete their projects despite some struggles. I regretted ordering containers because I didn't expect we would be able to eat what we made afterward. I understand that the filling can dry out, but I wish we could have taken a bit more time to make it. However, they seemed to have a lot of fun and were smiling! Thank you very much!
幼児と小学校生の子供2人からの希望で今回参加させて頂きました。
下の子に付きっきりになってしまい上の子をあまり見てあげれなかったのですがスタッフの方が気にかけてくださり2人共苦戦しながらもなんとか完成させることが出来ました。
作り終わった後食べて帰れると思っていなかったので容器を注文していたのは失敗だったな…と少し後悔しました。
それから餡が乾いてしまうのも分かるのですがもう少しゆっくり作れたらもっと良かったなぁ…とも思いました。
でも本人達は凄く楽しかったようでニコニコしていました!

I made a last-minute reservation the day before, but I was able to fully enjoy the experience. It was my first time making wagashi, and it was challenging, but I was taught detailed tips, and I managed to create cherry blossoms and dandelions. However, since the time was limited, the pace was a bit fast, so if you're not very skilled, you might feel a little rushed. The access is good, and it's easy to fit this experience into your sightseeing plans whenever you feel like it. I was able to enjoy it at a great value, and I was very satisfied.
前日に飛び入りで予約しましたがちゃんと体験出来ました。和菓子作りは初めての経験で難しかったですが、細かくコツなどを教えて頂けて桜とたんぽぽをなんとか作りきることが出来ました。ただ、時間が限られているので少しスピードは速かったので不器用だと少し焦ってしまうかもしれません。アクセスも良く、気が向いた時にお手軽に体験できるので、観光の予定に入れやすいと思います。コスパ良く体験が出来て、とても満足出来ました。

I participated with my daughter. Since there were three groups including us, we were able to ask questions comfortably, and the instructor was a bright and lively person, making everything very clear.
This time, we were making cherry blossom and dandelion flowers, and I was hoping for a spring-like finish. However, making wagashi was much more difficult than it looked, and my daughter was quite frustrated!
Nevertheless, the color change when mixing the color powder with the white bean paste and the tools used for making wagashi were very unique and interesting. Thank you!
娘と一緒に参加させていただきました。私達を含めて3組の参加だったので、気楽に質問も出来ましたし、インストラクターの方も明るく快活な方で、とてもよくわかりました。
今回は桜とタンポポの花を作るということで、春らしい仕上がりになることを期待しましたが…。和菓子は見るよりも作るのはとても難しく、娘もむきーーー!!っとなっていました。
けれども、色粉を白餡に混ぜたときの色の変化や、和菓子を作る際に使用する道具など、とても、珍しく興味深いものでした。

Since we came all the way to Kyoto, I wanted to do something uniquely Japanese rather than just sightseeing, so I participated with my elementary school daughter. Making two types of nerikiri wagashi was like working with clay; the process of kneading, coloring, piping, and shaping was enjoyable and easy enough for my young daughter to do on her own. Adults can also enjoy this hands-on activity after a long time. Afterward, we were able to eat the freshly made wagashi we created, which was very satisfying. The instructor demonstrated right in front of us, and there were samples on each table, making it easy to compare and create alongside the examples, which was great.
せっかく京都にきたなら観光するだけでなく何か京都らしい和風な体験をしたい、と小学生の娘と参加しました。2種類の練り切りの和菓子作りは粘土細工のように捏ねたり色をつけたり絞り出したり整形したりと小学生低学年の娘でも1人でできて楽しめる工程でした。大人も久々の工作を楽しめます。そのあと自分で作った作りたての和菓子を食べることができ大満足でした。講師の方が目の前で実演してくださるし、見本も各テーブルに置いてあるので間近に見本と見比べつつ作成することもできわかりやすくて良かったです。

The explanation was given at such a fast pace that even if the work wasn't finished, we quickly moved on to the next step, leaving us to progress without understanding certain parts. It felt like they were desperate to finish within the time limit due to the speed.
I wish there had been some prompts like, "Did you have any questions?" or "Please stop for a moment to ask before we move on to the next step."
I wanted to enjoy making traditional Japanese sweets a bit more thoroughly, so I was disappointed that it wasn't what I was looking for. It might be suitable for those who just want to enjoy the atmosphere without spending much time on it.
早口で説明されるのでまだ作業が終わっていなくてもどんどん次の行程にいってしまい、わからないところはわからないまま進むといった感じです。時間内に終わらせるのに必死なのかな?と思ってしまうくらいのスピードでした。
最後にわからないとこありませんでしたか?や次に進むので一旦手を止めて聞いて下さいなど、少しお声かけして頂ければいいのになと思いました。
もう少し丁寧に教えてもらえて、和菓子作りを楽しみたかったので求めていたものとは違い残念でした。
時間がなく雰囲気だけ楽しみたいいう方にはいいのかもしれません。

It was my first time making wagashi, but the instructions were thorough, and I had a great time experiencing it. Wagashi is delicate and quite challenging to make well, but I was able to enjoy the process with my friends, creating wonderful memories. I was also satisfied that we could eat what we made right there! The anko seemed to be carefully prepared and was delicious. It looks like we can take some home too. I heard there's also a tea-making experience available, so I would like to try that next time as well. Thank you very much!
和菓子づくりは初めてでしたが、丁寧に説明していただき、楽しく体験ができました。和菓子というのは繊細でなかなか上手く作るのが難しかったですが、友人と楽しみながら作ることができて、いい思い出がつくれました。その場ですぐに食べることもできたので満足です!餡もこだわっていたようで美味しかったです。お持ち帰りもOKみたいです。お茶立て体験もできるようなので、次はそちらも一緒に体験したいと思います。ありがとうございました。

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we were able to experience this activity with peace of mind, thanks to the disinfection of tools, tables, and chairs, as well as the spaced-out seating arrangements. The wagashi (Japanese sweets) change with the seasons, and this time we made cherry blossom and dandelion sweets. Both looked simple to make, but once we tried, we truly felt the skill of the wagashi artisans. However, even though our creations were a bit clumsy, the wagashi we made felt incredibly endearing! After making the wagashi, we had a tea ceremony experience. We were first taught how to prepare the matcha, and even as beginners, we were able to whisk it smoothly. Finally, we enjoyed the matcha along with the wagashi. They used high-quality anko (sweet red bean paste) and matcha, and with my eyes closed, it tasted just like what you would find in a shop. There were no overly complicated steps, and we got to enjoy delicious treats, making it an experience that can be enjoyed by everyone, including small children, regardless of age! Thank you very much!
コロナ禍の中での体験ということで、道具や机、椅子の消毒はもちろん、間隔を空けた配置で、安心して体験ができました。和菓子は季節により変わるそうで、今回は桜とタンポポをつくりました。どちらも簡単そうに見えて、実際作ってみると、和菓子職人さんの凄さが痛いほど感じられました。しかし、不恰好でも、自分で作った和菓子はなんだかとても愛らしかったです!和菓子を作った後はお点前体験で、初めにやり方を教えていただけて、経験のない私たちもすんなりと抹茶を点てることができました。最後に和菓子と一緒にお抹茶をいただけます。餡や抹茶も良いものを使ってるそうで、目を閉じればお店の味でした。難しすぎる工程もなく、美味しいものも食べることができるので、小さい子供はもちろん、年齢を問わず楽しめる体験だと感じました!ありがとうございました!

The experience lasted 30 minutes, so it felt a bit rushed, but since time is limited during sightseeing and travel, I was able to make good use of the time afterward. Additionally, speed is important in making wagashi (Japanese sweets), so I think 30 minutes is sufficient. (However, it might be difficult for a child to participate alone.) You can create cute and unique wagashi, and you can take them home or enjoy them with matcha, making for a wonderful memory. The experience venue is also close to the station, so I highly recommend it!
体験時間が30分なので少々スピード感はありましたが、観光や旅行での時間は有限なので、その後の時間を有効活用することができました。
また、和菓子作りはスピード感が大切ということもあり、30分でも十分だと思います。
(しかしお子様1人の体験ではでは難しいかもしれません)
可愛くて個性溢れる和菓子を作れて、持ち帰ることやお抹茶と一緒に食べることもできるので、とてもいい思い出になりますよ(^^)
体験会場も駅から近いので、おすすめします!

I participated with a friend! The explanation of making wagashi was very clear and smooth, and whenever we had questions, the staff members waiting nearby kindly provided individual explanations and checked in on us, which was very thoughtful. I was impressed to learn that a single type of anko can be used to create various vibrant tea sweets, and I gained an understanding of the delicacy of anko. During the tea ceremony experience, there was also an explanation of the proper etiquette, and we had the precious opportunity to enjoy the wagashi we made with the matcha we prepared ourselves! At the request of my daughter, I had the opportunity to experience making traditional Japanese sweets with my 81-year-old mother and my 23-year-old daughter, spanning three generations. Making wagashi was more challenging than I expected, but it was a lot of fun. I struggled with shaping them, but I enjoyed the process while redoing it multiple times. However, I did wonder if cosmos flowers are really considered autumn flowers, aside from the cherry blossoms.
We enjoyed the wagashi we made with matcha that was sold separately. If I had to say something, I was a bit disappointed that the matcha was a little bitter. The sweets were said to be delicious, used even by wagashi shops in Kyoto, so it was a shame given how tasty the red bean paste was.
娘の希望で、81歳の母、私、23歳の娘の親子三代で体験させていただきました。和菓子作りは、思ったより難しかったですが、とても楽しかったです。形を作るのに苦戦しましたが、何度もやり直しながら楽しみました。ただ、桜はともかくコスモスは秋の花なんじゃないかなと疑問に思いました。
作った和菓子を別売りの抹茶と共にいただきました。強いて言えば抹茶が少し苦かったのが残念でした。お菓子は、京都の和菓子屋さんでも使っている美味しいものだそうで、餡子が美味しかっただけに残念です。

We participated in this wagashi (Japanese sweets) making experience in March. Although I had often visited Kyoto, I realized that I had never made wagashi myself, and I thought it would be a nice gift for my mother, who loves wagashi. The website mentioned it would take 30 minutes, so I thought I needed to hurry, but that wasn't the case at all; they patiently waited for me, despite my clumsiness. I had a wonderful time with him, and when I brought the sweets home, my mother said they were very delicious, making it a truly unforgettable memory. Thank you very much.

I participated with my boyfriend! I had seen reviews mentioning it was fast-paced and hectic, but I didn't find the speed to be an issue during the experience! I also had a matcha experience, where there was an explanation of the proper techniques, and I was able to enjoy the wagashi I made along with the matcha deliciously ^_^.
Perhaps due to the COVID period, we were able to participate with a relatively small group, and since we were the only ones for the matcha experience, we could enjoy our meal and take photos at a leisurely pace. I would like to try making different wagashi when the seasons change. Thank you very much!

The explanation of making wagashi was very easy to understand, and I was able to create them smoothly. Making wagashi was an interesting experience.
The tea ceremony and wagashi making were scheduled for one hour, and since there was another reservation, speed was really required, which made it feel different from a leisurely enjoyment. I couldn't enter until just before the start time, but since I arrived early, I was exploring nearby. However, I think the schedule for wagashi making is really tight, as they would call if you were even one minute late.
However, for those who want to pack their day with activities and enjoy Kyoto, this might be a great option for a speedy experience.
The sweet bean paste for the wagashi was very delicious.

ですが、1日にぎっちり、したいことや京都を味わいたい方などスピードに味わい方にはとてもいいかもしれません。
和菓子のあん、などとてもおいしいものでした。

I live in Kyoto, and I have always wanted to experience making wagashi (Japanese sweets). I found out that I could do this at an affordable price here, so I signed up with my daughter. I thought it would be easy, but the detailed work while wearing gloves was quite challenging. The instructor taught us carefully, so even though the time was short at just 30 minutes, it was good because we could concentrate on the task. The sweets we made were called "uguisu" and "ume," which are very spring-like. The "uguisu" was particularly difficult and ended up looking like a fish, but both were very delicious. Thank you for the enjoyable experience.
京都に住んでいますが、以前から和菓子作りを体験したいと思っていました。こちらで手ごろな値段で体験できることを知り、娘と二人で申し込みをしました。簡単にできるかと思っていましたが、手袋をつけての細かい作業はなかなか難しかったです。インストラクターの方が丁寧に教えて下さったので、30分と短い時間でしたが、逆に集中して作業ができてよかったです。鶯と梅という春らしいお菓子でした。特に鶯が難しく魚のような形になってしまいましたが、どちらもとてもおいしかったです。楽しい体験をありがとうございました。

The park is closed, and with more time spent at home due to restrictions, I've been doing quite a bit of baking. However, making wagashi (Japanese sweets) is quite challenging due to the high barriers to entry and the difficulty in gathering the necessary ingredients. After making mochi for New Year's, I was on the lookout for something to satisfy my craving for anko (sweet red bean paste) and came across a place. Most options were geared towards adults, but I found out that An-san welcomes young children, so I decided to visit.
Just to be safe, I practiced rolling with clay before heading out. It seemed that even with child-sized gloves, rolling was difficult. Comparing our creations to the samples of uguisu and plum kinton, we ended up with some odd shapes, but it was a lot of fun, and my child wrote in their picture diary that it was a great day.
Given the current circumstances, they had taken proper measures for disinfection and ventilation.
休園、自粛中で家で過ごすことが増え、お菓子作りも一通りしてきました。しかしながら和菓子は敷居も高く材料を揃えるのも一苦労なので中々自宅で行うには難しいものです。ちょうどお正月のお餅つきをした後で、あんこ熱が高まっているところ何か無いかと探していてみつけました。ほとんどのところが大人向けでしたが、庵さんは幼児も受け入れて頂けるとのことで伺いました。
念のため、粘土で丸める予習をして向かいました。子供サイズの手袋をしても丸めるのは難しかったようです。うぐいすと梅のきんとんのお見本と比べて変な形ーと言いながらもとても楽しかったようで、今日は良い1日だったと絵日記に書いていました。
こんなご時世ですので、消毒や換気など対策もしっかり取られていました。

I think it's fine if you're just looking to experience making wagashi. However, if your goal is to "enjoy" the experience, I would recommend looking for other places. The explanations and tasks were quite rushed, and while those who are good at following instructions might manage to keep up, those who are a bit clumsy will likely struggle. Since this was during a less busy time after the Go To campaign ended, I can only imagine it would be even more chaotic during the tourist season, so I can't really recommend it.
On the other hand, for those who want to have a quick 30-minute experience and don't have much time, it's conveniently located close to the station.
和菓子作りの体験をするだけならいいと思います。体験を「楽しむ」のを目的にするなら、他のところを探した方がよいかと…。かなり大急ぎの説明・作業で、要領の良い人は何とかついていけると思いますが、ちょっと不器用な人はきっとついていけません…。gotoがなくなり空いている時期でこうだったので、多分、観光シーズンなどはもっとバタバタになるのかと思うと、あまりオススメはできません。
逆に時間がないのできっちり30分で体験だけしたいという方には、駅からも近いし便利だと思います。

I used it for the first time. It was great to enjoy delicious kaiseki cuisine and then be able to visit without waiting in line. This time, since I was a bit late in the season, I would like to make a reservation a little earlier next time. The autumn leaves at Eikando were amazing.
初めて利用しました。美味しい会席料理を食べてから、並ばずに拝観出来たのが良かったです。今回は時期が少し遅かったので、次回は、もう少し早く予約したいと思います。永観堂の紅葉最高でした。

I participated in the final tour of the first week of December. Although it was the end of the autumn foliage season, including Eikando, the grounds were spacious and we were able to enjoy the beautiful scenery relatively late in the season. Even though it was close to the last day, there was a long line before the venue opened, and the fast pass was a great help. Especially this year, with many restrictions due to the pandemic, it was nice to be able to tour when there were fewer people, which made it more relaxing.
The meal was served in a three-tiered tray and was quite substantial. However, the dining hall was a bit cold due to the ventilation being open, and there were not many warm dishes, which was a bit concerning.

時期的に永観堂含めて紅葉終わりの時期でしたが、境内が広く見ごろ時期が
比較的おそくまで楽しめる処であり楽しめました。最終日近くながらも開場前には長蛇の列、ファストパス―助かりました。特に今年の感染症による制限、制約の多いなかながら人が少ない時に廻ることができて気も楽でした。
食事は3段膳とボリュームはあり。ただ食事広間の換気で開け放たれているなかでは少々寒く、お食事のなかで温かいものが少なかったため気になってしまいました。

This tour is not bad. This year, the peak of the autumn leaves was about ten days earlier than usual, and after the peak, rain and wind caused a lot of leaves to fall, so it felt like we just barely made it in time for the final viewing.
Because of this, there was quite a long line before the light-up opening, but after finishing dinner in just over 30 minutes and stepping outside, the line had completely disappeared, and we were able to enter smoothly.
In other words, the reason for booking a dinner-inclusive tour to avoid waiting in line turned out to be pointless. I've heard that during really crowded times, the line extends outside the temple, so I think during those times, I would definitely feel it was worth it to book.
このツアーが悪いわけではありません。今年は例年より10日ほど紅葉のピークが早く、かつピーク後に雨と風で大分散ってしまった後なので、何とか最終に間に合った感じでした。
そういう訳でライトアップ開門前にはかなりの列で並んでいましたが、夕食を30分強で済ませて外に出たら、すでに列はすっかり無くなり、すんなりと入れました。
つまり、並ばずに入るために夕食付のツアーを申し込んだ意味は無かったという事になりました。
聞いたところによると本当に混雑している時にはお寺の外まで列が出来るらしいので、そういう時にはきっと申し込んで良かったと感じるんだと思います。

It was great to be able to enter almost at the front of the line without waiting, but since it was around the end of the autumn foliage season, I thought that if I had adjusted my timing a bit, I could have enjoyed the sights leisurely without joining this tour. However, I believe that during the peak foliage season, this tour would save a lot of time.
As for the meal, I’m sorry to say it was not very good. Many of the dishes were cold, and my friend who joined me complained a lot, which made me feel sad since I had made the reservation thinking it would be a good experience. Since it was a 6000 yen tour, there seemed to be high expectations for the food. There are some seats with chairs, so if you have difficulty sitting seiza-style, it’s better to express your preference when making the reservation.
The staff were all very pleasant.
並ばずに行列のほぼ先頭で入れたのは良かったのですが、紅葉も終わりかけの時期だったので、少し時間をずらせば、このツアーに参加しなくてものんびりゆっくり回れたのかも、と思いました。ただ紅葉シーズン中だったら、かなり時間の節約ができるツアーだと思います。
食事は申し訳ありませんがイマイチでした。冷めている料理が多く、一緒に行った友人にも文句を散々言われ、よかれと思って予約したのに何だか悲しくなりました。6000円のツアーだったので、お料理への期待も高かったようです。椅子席が一部もあるので、正座が苦手な方は予約の時点で希望を出した方が良いです。
スタッフの方は、皆さん感じが良かったです。

I booked this plan with dinner included to avoid long wait times, but first of all, the food was terrible. It wasn't even at a level worth charging for. Also, the lighting on the day itself had zero wait time even if you just lined up normally. It was completely pointless. That's enough for me.
長い待ち時間を回避するために、夕食付きのこのプランを予約したが、まず食事が不味すぎる。お金を取って出すレベルではない。また当日のライトアップは、普通に並んでも待ち時間ゼロ。全く意味が無かった。もうけっこう。

Simply wonderful.
The food was delicious. I saw such beautiful autumn leaves at night for the first time. Everyone was waiting in a long line for a long time in the cold, but we were able to enter right away after our meal with priority access.
It was moving!
とにかくすばらしいの一言。
ご飯も美味しかったです。初めてあんなに美しい夜の紅葉を見ました。皆さん寒い中、長蛇の列を並んで長い時間待っていましたが、私たちは、食事後、すぐに優先的に入れてもらえました。
感動でした!

I was able to enter the popular Eikando without waiting, and I heard that I could enjoy the famous yudofu in the area, but the yudofu was quite disappointing. The dishes served on the tray were all cold and not particularly tasty. The tofu was no different from what I usually eat at home. They packed us into the large hall, and without any cushions to sit on, it was uncomfortable, making it hard to relax.
Moreover, since the autumn leaves were almost over, there was no line, so there was no advantage to entering without waiting. That said, the autumn foliage was as beautiful as I had imagined.
人気の永観堂に並ばず入れるのとこの辺で有名な湯豆腐が食べられるということだったのだが、湯豆腐はだいぶイマイチ。御膳に冷えた料理が並びどれも美味しいとは言い難いものばかり。豆腐も普段家で食べるものと変わらないし。大広間にどんどん詰めて入れられ、座布団もなく座ってるのがしんどくてゆっくりも出来なかった。
おまけに紅葉も終わりかけだったため行列も出来ていなかったので並ばず入れるメリットもなく。とはいえ紅葉は想像通り良かったです。

The food was delicious, and it was the first time I saw so many beautiful autumn leaves gathered together. Perhaps because it was a weekday, the entrance for general visitors wasn't too crowded.
食事も美味しかったし、あれだけのたくさんの紅葉が纏まってるのは初めて見ました。平日だからか、一般観覧者の入り口でもそんなに混んでませんでした。

During the pandemic, the measures were well implemented. However, the pace was fast and it was quite challenging. I think it would be better if there was a time allocation to proceed a bit more slowly. The staff have to finish within the time limit, so I don't think there's much they can do about it.
Making simple wagashi (Japanese sweets) myself made me realize how difficult it is to shape them nicely. So, I wasn't able to do it very well!
コロナ中、対策がしっかりされていました。ただ、スピードが早くなかなか大変でした。もう少しゆっくり進めるよう時間配分があれば良いと思います。スタッフさんは、時間内で終わらせなくてはならないので、スタッフさんにはどうすることもできないと思いますが、、
何気ない和菓子、自分で作ってみると形よく作る大変さがよくわかります。なので、あまり上手にはできませんでした!
