However, as a tour, the meeting place was difficult to find, and when I arrived before the meeting time, there was no staff present. The daytime view of Eikan-do was beautiful as well. At night, while passing by a long line, we were able to smoothly enjoy the illuminated autumn leaves reflecting in the pond, as well as a kaiseki meal, which felt very special. If you're planning to see the illumination, I highly recommend this.

By booking this tour, we were able to enter through a separate entrance for group tours and enjoy the time when people had not yet started coming in right after the park opened.

Seeing that amazing line made me glad I signed up. The kaiseki cuisine was delicious, and I was satisfied. However, my husband, who has some trouble with his legs, was frustrated with eating on the tatami mats with cushions. He gradually became grumpy and hardly ate anything. I was hoping to please him by being able to visit without waiting in line, but it was disappointing.

On the way there, I took a taxi from Kyoto Station to avoid traffic and make it on time. For the return, I used the city bus, but there was a long line, and I was finally able to board on the second attempt. I thought it would have been better if there had been a shuttle service. The autumn leaves kaiseki meal had a decent amount, but everything except the miso soup and yudofu was completely cold, which was disappointing as I couldn't taste it. I was very impressed that I could visit Eikando without any waiting time during this peak season for autumn leaves. The autumn foliage at Eikando is truly a breathtaking sight and I believe it is an essential spot for viewing the fall colors in Kyoto. This was my first time experiencing the autumn leaves in Kyoto, but my sister, who has visited many times, was also surprised to learn that such tours exist. I definitely want to use this tour again next year, and I highly recommend it to everyone.

It was my first time seeing such beautiful illuminated autumn leaves.
There was an incredibly long line at the entrance, unlike anything I had ever seen before.
The crowd was overwhelming.
In such a situation, being able to enter without waiting in line was already worth it, and to top it off, there was a meal included.
The meal, especially the yudofu, was very delicious, and my whole family was extremely happy.

The dinner was terrible.
The dining venue was the large hall of the student dormitory, close to other tables. Although there was heating, they didn't turn it on. The staff provided no explanation about the meal, leaving me to wonder if they really charge for this level of service.

As for the dinner itself, despite it being a cold season, the only warm items were a small pot of yudofu (tofu hot pot), miso soup, and rice; everything else was pre-made and extremely cold, unfit to eat. I had no choice but to warm the yudofu in the pot before eating.

There was also no explanation on how to get to Eikando after dinner, leaving participants confused about where to go.

The ticket booth was running smoothly even during the three-day holiday in November, and the wait time was not as long as I expected.

In any case, the dinner was very simple, and this quality does not justify the cost.

While I understand the admission fee is non-refundable, I do request some form of reimbursement.

I walked from Shijo Kawaramachi, but I got lost and ended up being about 20 minutes late for my reservation. However, the staff kindly welcomed me, which was a relief. The course meals were served at a nice pace, and both the dishes and presentation were beautiful. The food and sake from Fushimi were delicious. On my way out, I was able to see the traditional machiya-style interior, which made for a wonderful memory of my trip to Kyoto.

四条河原町から徒歩で行ったのですが、迷ってしまい20分程予約時間を過ぎてしまいましたが、店の方が快く受け入れてくださり、ほっとしました。程よい間隔でコース料理が運ばれて 器も盛付けも綺麗で、食事も伏見のお酒も美味しかったです。帰りに町家作りの店内も見せていただき 京旅の良い想い出になりました。

We had a wonderful time. Macha tea was really impressive (organically grown) and also the traditional food very beautiful but also tasty. Our charming tea master lady moved so naturally that I will have a long lasting memory of that evening.
