I participated in early January. I'm glad I joined the tour. It was truly a great way to experience the Yaeyama Islands. It would have been very difficult for us to explore so many places in such depth on our own. Every part was enjoyable, but the mangrove cruise was particularly impressive; the guide's explanations were very skillful and full of intelligence, making it a great learning experience.
Additionally, on Yubu Island, I learned about the history of pioneering while fighting malaria. On the day of the tour, it was quite windy, and many people were buying and wearing raincoats. Even though it's a southern island, it's essential to prepare for the cold.
The iconic water buffalo carts of Yubu Island had some staff whose communication skills varied, leading to some minor issues. Considering all of this, let's just embrace the experience of sightseeing in the southern islands.
1月上旬に参加。ツアーに参加して良かったです。まさに八重山諸島のいいとこどりです。自分たちではこれほと内容濃く、多くの場所を観光することはとても困難です。どこも楽しかったのですが、マングローブクルーズは、ガイドさんの説明がとても上手かつインテリジェンスにあふれ、大変勉強になりました。
また、由布島では、マラリアと闘いながらの開拓の歴史について学びました。
当日は風が強く、途中でレインコートを買って着ている人が多く、南の島とはいえ、防寒対策は必須です。
八重山の象徴的な由布島の水牛車ですが、人にもよるのでしょうが、ずいぶんと話し方が悪いスタッフもおられ、小さなトラブルが生じていました。そういうこと含め、南の島の観光と割り切りましょう。
天候にもよりますが、当日は船が揺れて、気分が悪くなった方もおられました。念のため、自信が無い人は酔い止めは飲んでおいた方が良いと思います。南の島ですが、冬場は防寒対策も必須です。

The forecast was for cloudy weather with occasional rain, so I was worried about whether we could enjoy it, but I decided to participate based on previous experiences shared by others.
Indeed, it was cloudy and we couldn't see the stars at all, but everyone was so focused on the jungle exploration, searching for coconut crabs and unique plants and creatures of Ishigaki Island, that we completely forgot about the night sky and had a great time united as a team.
Even though I was meeting everyone for the first time, we all came together as one team around our guide and had fun (there were three teams that day).
After about a 30-minute journey in complete darkness, it felt like we were on a mystery tour. During the trip, the guide shared many hidden gems and recommended spots unique to Ishigaki Island. I was desperately trying to take notes.
This alone made the tour incredibly valuable!
Since the environment changes with each season, I definitely want to experience another season next time. I would love to hear the explanations during a starry night as well. I want to go again and again. Thank you!
曇り時々雨予報でしたので楽しめるか心配ではありましたが、これまでの体験談も参考に参加を決めました。
確かに曇りで星空はまったく見れませんでしたが、参加者みんな星空のことを忘れているほど
ジャングル探検にヤシガニや石垣島ならではの植物や生物探しに必死で一致団結して楽しめました。
初めて会った人達ばかりなのにガイドさん中心にみんな1つのチームになって楽しんでいました
(この日は3チームありました)
移動30分ほどで真っ暗闇の中どこへ向かっているのか、まるでミステリーツアーのようでした。
移動中もガイドさんに石垣島の地元ならではの穴場やおすすめスポットをたくさん教えて頂けました。
メモるのに必死でした。
これだけでもとっても価値のあるツアーでしたよ笑
季節ごとに環境もちがうので、また次は他の季節をぜひ体験してみたいと思いました。
満天の星のときの説明もぜひ聞いてみたいです。
何度でも行きたいです。

During the journey, the guide shared many recommended sightseeing spots and restaurants in Ishigaki Island, making the long trip feel quick.
After getting off the bus, we started exploring the dark jungle, desperately searching for coconut crabs. I felt a bit anxious, but the guide led us and provided thorough explanations, allowing us to enjoy the exploration.
Unfortunately, since it was winter and cloudy, we couldn't see the coconut crabs or many stars, but instead, we were able to see a turtle. It seemed quite rare, and I was very happy when we spotted it!
Along the way, we also saw cows and wild boars. Normally, we don't have much luck when traveling, but this time we were very lucky and created wonderful memories. It was a place we couldn't have visited without the guide, so I'm really glad I participated. Thank you very much!
道中ではガイドさんが石垣島のオススメ観光スポットやご飯屋さんをたくさん教えて下さり、長い道のりがあっという間に感じました。
バスを降りてからは真っ暗なジャングル散策を開始し、必死にヤシガニを探していました笑
少し不安がありましたが、ガイドさんが誘導して下さり丁寧な説明もあるため楽しみながら散策することができました。
残念ながら冬で曇っていたためヤシガニやたくさんの星を見ることはできませんでしたが、代わりに亀さんを見ることが出来ました。かなりレアみたいで見れた時はとても嬉しかったです！
道中でも牛やイノシシが見れたり、いつもは旅行運があまりない私達ですが今回はとてもラッキーで楽しい思い出を作ることが出来ました。
ガイドさんなしでは行けないような場所だったので、本当に参加して良かったです。

I wondered if it would be cold, so I wore Heattech and a sweatshirt, but it wasn't very cold and I ended up sweating. Surprisingly warm, and since I was walking, it might be okay to dress lightly.

On the day of the trip, it was drizzling from the morning.
First, we took a ferry to Iriomote Island. We then traveled by bus to the spot where we could ride the water buffalo to Yubu Island. The bus guide was fantastic, and we had a fun time filled with laughter.
Finally, we got to ride the water buffalo to Yubu Island, which was a long-awaited experience. The water buffalo was very cute, and we crossed over to Yubu Island while listening to shamisen music, which made me truly feel that I was in Okinawa.
Yubu Island is quite small, so we were able to do some quick sightseeing.
Next, we took a sightseeing boat to explore the mangroves. Unfortunately, it was raining quite heavily, and the rain cover made it a bit difficult to see.
By the time we arrived at Taketomi Island, the rain and wind were intense, and we couldn't enjoy the island much. Since we had signed up for a free walk plan, there was no guide on-site, and I felt that it was difficult to sightsee in bad weather.
I hear that Taketomi Island has beautiful beaches, so I definitely want to come back when the weather is nice next time!
当日は朝からしとしと雨が降っていました。
まずはフェリーで西表島へ。
由布島へいく水牛のスポットまでバスで移動でした。
バスガイドのおじさんのトークが素晴らしく、笑いが絶えない楽しい時間でした。
そして念願の水牛に乗って由布島へ。
水牛はとても可愛く、三味線の音楽を聴きながら由布島へ渡りましたが、沖縄に来たんだなぁと改めて実感しました。
由布島はかなり小さい島なのでサクッと観光できました。
その次は遊覧船でマングローブを観光しました。
かなり雨が降っていたので、雨除けのカバーが付いており、少し見づらかったのが残念でした。
竹富島に着く頃には雨と風が激しく、あまり島を楽しむことができませんでした。
私たちはフリーウォークプランに申し込んでいたので、現地でガイドさんがおらず、天候が悪いと観光するのが難しいなと感じました。
竹富島も綺麗なビーチがあるみたいなので、次回は是非天気が良いときに来てみたいなと思います！

The departure from the bus terminal in front of Ishigaki Port was convenient, as the highlights were well-organized. It's nice to hear the guide's stories instead of driving a rental car. The guide who led my tour seemed to be studying the sanshin and even performed for us. I participated in a day tour to another remote island, and compared to that, I think the lunch was good for the price.

The mangrove boat tour had attentive guidance and was filled with real-time information about the arrival of birds. The bus driver on Iriomote Island shared very interesting stories, making for a time filled with laughter. The water buffalo cart tour to Yubu Island was a wonderful experience that healed me with the sound of the sanshin and the unique personalities and paces of each buffalo, allowing me to forget the busyness of everyday life. On Taketomi Island, I was efficiently shown the tourist spots, but I wished I could have taken a bit more time to relax.

After SUP in the mangrove forest, we went snorkeling in the sea. It was my first experience with SUP, but I was taught carefully and succeeded in paddling while standing! During the experience, I was able to learn a lot about the local plants and the characteristics of Ishigaki Island. While moving around, they also introduced us to recommended shops we passed by, which allowed us to fully enjoy our trip. Snorkeling was my second experience, and I was healed by the beautiful sea and colorful fish. There were children among the participants, but the staff provided careful support, so I think families with kids can participate with peace of mind. Thanks to all the staff, it was a fun trip! It was fun exploring a jungle that felt scary to enter at night without a guide! It was also interesting to desperately search for coconut crabs together!
The guide provided detailed explanations not only about coconut crabs but also about other plants and ecosystems! Additionally, during the car rides, they shared recommendations for spots in Ishigaki Island!
I was a bit anxious about participating solo, but there were a few other solo travelers... I'm glad I applied without worrying!

I used it on the last day of my 2-night, 3-day trip. The lunch was delicious, and the gentle and lovely bus guide provided detailed explanations on the bus, along with performances of the sanshin and singing, making the entire experience enjoyable. It was very convenient that we could get off at the airport on the way back.
2泊3日の最終日に利用しました。昼食も美味しく、バス車内では穏やかで可愛いバスガイドさんの丁寧な説明があり、三線&歌も披露ありで、終始楽しく過ごせました。帰りは空港下車ができるので、とても便利でした。

I used the "Iriomote, Yufu, Taketomi Island, Mangrove Tour + Water Buffalo Cart + Taketomi Island Bus Plan" for my 2-night, 3-day trip to Ishigaki Island. Our tour guide, Y, was very lively and provided a lot of detailed information about the island, stars, and coconut crabs throughout the journey, allowing me to learn more about Ishigaki Island.

I participated in a day tour of stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) in the morning and snorkeling in the afternoon.
It had been lightly raining since the day before, and it continued to rain until the morning of the tour, but there were no issues with the morning SUP. By the afternoon, it cleared up a bit, so I was able to enjoy snorkeling without any problems. (Although it was supposed to be a tour of the Blue Cave, we had to snorkel at a different spot due to the weather.)
The SUP instructor was Mr. Kimura, who taught us energetically.
During the SUP in the mangroves, I was initially nervous about falling, but I got used to it and was able to focus on the scenery. (For those who are scared to stand, paddling in a cross-legged position is stable and comfortable. However, standing is much more fun! She fell in at the end, though.)
As long as you don't fall, you only get your feet and butt wet, so it's easy to enjoy, and I want to try it in the ocean next time.
We disbanded at the island terminal for lunch and ate Ishigaki beef burgers at a burger place recommended by Mr. Kimura called Vanilla Deli.
I ordered the double patty burger with avocado wasabi sauce that was recommended. Since it was Ishigaki beef, it was a bit pricey, but the minced patty was chunky and had a strong meat flavor, and the combination of the sweet sauce and wasabi sauce was excellent and very delicious.
We gathered again at the island terminal for the second half of the snorkeling.
Our guide was Mr. Sebastian. He was very cheerful and easy to talk to, and he was also very attentive to all the participants.
She tends to get seasick easily, so she felt a bit nauseous during the tour, but he quickly noticed and addressed it accurately, allowing her to recover and continue.

前日から軽い雨で、ツアー当日の朝まで雨でしたが、午前のsupには特に支障はなく、午後からはそこそこ晴れたのでシュノーケリングも問題なく参加する事が出来ました。
(青の洞窟のツアーでしたが、天候の都合で別ポイントでのシュノーケリングとなりました。)
supは木村さんというインストラクターさんで、元気に教えて頂きました。
マングローブでのsup、最初は落ちたくない緊張感がありましたが途中から慣れてきて景色に集中できるようになりました。
(立つのが怖い人はあぐら状態で漕ぐと安定していて楽かもです。ただ立つほうがめっちゃ楽しいです！彼女は最後に落ちましたが)
基本落ちなければ濡れるのも足とお尻ぐらいなので気楽に楽しめるし、今度は海でやりたいと思いました。
お昼に離島ターミナルで1度解散し、木村さんオススメのバニラデリというハンバーガー屋で石垣牛ハンバーガーを食べました。
注文したのはオススメされたアボカドわさびソースバーガーのパテダブル。石垣牛という事もあり少しお値段はしますが、パテのミンチがゴロゴロと肉感が強く、甘いタレとわさびソースの相性も抜群でとても美味しかったです。
再び離島ターミナルで集合して、後半のシュノーケリングへ。
担当してくれたのはセバスチャンさん。
この方もとても明るく、接しやすい方で、また、参加者全員への気配りが丁寧な方でした。
彼女は酔いやすい体質なので、ツアー途中少しだけ波に酔う事もありましたが、素早く気付いてもらえ、的確に対処してもらえたのですぐ回復し、続行できました。
天候の影響で完璧な視界や魚たちの状態ではなかったかもしれませんが、夏でも冬でも天候の運はありますし、十分に楽しむ事ができました。
セバスチャンさんからは夜の飲食のおすすめ店をたくさん教えてもらいました。どこも知らない所で、とりあえず早速予約しました。
帰りはホテルまで送ってもらい、塩を流して一眠りし、美味い酒と飯へ…。涼しい石垣島のクリスマス、めっちゃ良いです。
次も閑散期を狙って、後は天候を神様に願い、今度こそ青の洞に行けたら、と思います。

I made a reservation because I wanted to see the coconut crab. It was a last-minute booking, but they called to confirm on the day, so I was able to participate without any worries. In the end, I was extremely satisfied!! I enjoyed it even in winter! (Although we couldn't see the starry sky, I was still very, very, very satisfied with the jungle tour alone.) We encountered many creatures and plants, and the time spent searching for them was incredibly enjoyable.
On the day of the tour, they provided us with rubber boots and flashlights, so as long as you wear clothes that you don't mind getting a little dirty, you can participate hands-free. (We didn't get dirty at all.) The guide took photos and videos of the creatures he found and of the participants, so you don't even need to bring your phone!
Since it was winter, my husband and I were the only participants. Our guide, Shinpei, kept the conversation fun throughout, making it an experience that flew by without any boredom. I was moved by the coconut crabs and the large群 of bats, as well as the many rare plants and various insects. There were things I thought I should have taken pictures of, but Shinpei took all of them and sent them to us later.

当日は長靴、ペンライトを貸してくださったので、服装さえ多少の汚れなど気にならないものにしていれば、手ぶらで参加できます。（私たちは全く汚れることもなかったです。）
お兄さんが見つけた生き物や、参加者の写真や動画を撮ってくれるので、携帯もなくてもいいくらいです！
今回は冬の期間ということで参加者は私たち夫婦だけでした。ガイドのしんぺーさんが、終始楽しく会話しながら案内してくれたので、飽きることなくあっという間の体験となりました。
やしがに、コウモリの大群に感動。そのほか珍しい植物の数々。様々な虫。
あーあれ写真撮ればよかったな、と思ったものも、しんぺーさんが全部撮っていてくれてて、あとで全て送ってくださいました。
途中なかなか見つからないやしがにを探しに、ちょっと行ってきますと、遠くまで探しに行ってくれて、結果として目的のやしがにに出会えました。しんぺーさんありがとうございました。
楽しませてあげたい、見たいものを見せてあげたい、という心づかいを感じました。

This January in Okinawa was very cold and windy, and I was worried when the ferry to Iriomote Island was canceled, but I was able to go on this tour. Since it was a two-island tour, I returned to the hotel in the afternoon without getting too tired, which was great. On Taketomi Island, I could explore at my own pace the next day without using a tour.
I recommend the tours from Veltra because they are cheaper than booking on-site. The lunch time was at 10:30 AM, but since we gathered early in the morning, I was able to eat. Those on the three-island tour must have been hungry (there are no shops on Taketomi Island), and the bento was cold, the tempura was hard, and I wished for something delicious as a main dish.

I participated in a tour from Ishigaki to Iriomote, and then to Taketomi Island (glass boat + water buffalo).
Indeed, it might be difficult to visit all these islands at once without joining a tour.
Going from Ishigaki to Iriomote was good, and Yubu Island was nice.
However, Taketomi Island was not good. I was just made to wait, and I didn't even know what time the ferry was leaving. After arriving at Taketomi Island, I had to wait to board the glass boat. After getting off the glass boat, I had to wait again for the bus to the water buffalo experience. I wanted to return early on the last bus. After the experience, I had to wait about 50 minutes for the free shuttle bus to the ferry. It was a very wasteful use of time. I thought joining the tour would prevent such issues.

I had explored various places in Ishigaki Island and was looking for something to experience on the last day!
The guide shared information about Ishigaki Island's ecosystem while driving the bus, and even pointed out an owl along the way, making the bus ride both educational and very enjoyable.
After getting off the bus, we went for a walk in complete darkness. It was more exciting than I had expected, and I felt like an explorer.
While it was difficult to find larger creatures, the guide bravely ventured onto rocks and into the trees where we couldn't go. Thanks to that, we were able to see two coconut crabs, a snake, and a bat! Although it was cloudy, the lack of streetlights made the stars feel closer and more sparkling than usual.
In the end, I misplaced something and was quite troubled, but they responded very kindly. I apologize for the inconvenience, and I truly appreciate it.
I felt the hospitality of wanting us to return from our Ishigaki trip with wonderful memories, and I was really glad to have come here in the end! Thank you very much!!

思ってた以上のワクワクで、探検隊になった気分でした。
なかなか大きな生き物が見つからない中、ガイドさんが私達が行けない岩の上や木々の中まで果敢に散策に行ってくださいました。
おかげで2匹のヤシガニ、蛇、コウモリを見ることができました！
曇ってはいましたが、街灯がないので星もいつもより近くキラキラに感じました。
最後に落し物をしてしまい困っていましたが、とても親切に対応してくださいました。
ご迷惑をお掛けしましたが、本当にありがとうございました。

Since it was an activity on a rainy winter day, I was worried about whether it would take place, but in the end, I had a very enjoyable and valuable experience!!!
On the day of the tour, we couldn't see any stars, and we ended up having a longer jungle night tour.
After being shaken around in the car for a while, we arrived in a forest that was deeper than we had imagined. Since it was a night tour, it was completely dark around us. We could explore with just one flashlight. The footing was a bit unstable due to the rain, but they provided us with rubber boots, which worked well and allowed us to safely explore the jungle.
Due to the winter weather, we encountered fewer creatures than expected. However, we were able to see the wild coconut crab that we wanted to see. The guide told us, "It's edible and tastes like a mix between shrimp and crab, and it's very delicious. However, it's only available during a limited capture period, so you can't eat it right now," which made me want to try it. We also learned a lot about the insects and plants that inhabit the jungle, as well as the culture of Ishigaki Island. I felt that hearing these local stories was one of the highlights of the tour.
The day after the experience, when I casually went to the market, I miraculously found the coconut crab we encountered yesterday for sale!! Remembering what the guide said, we decided to try it. In the end, it was definitely the right choice!!! As the guide mentioned, it was very delicious. The miso, in particular, was tasty.
If I hadn't participated in the tour, I don't think I would have eaten the coconut crab, which looks a bit scary.
I think the experience of navigating through the pitch-black jungle with just one flashlight is rare. If you're hesitating, I definitely recommend participating at least once!!

冬の大雨の日のアクティビティだったので、開催されるのかも心配でしたが、結果的にとても楽しく貴重な体験ができました！！！
当日は、星は全く見えず、ジャングルナイトツアーを長めにしていただきました。
車に揺られて、しばらく経つと、私達の想像以上に深い森の中に到着。ナイトツアーなのであたりは真っ暗闇。懐中電灯一本で探検する事ができます。雨の中だったので足場が不安でしたが、長靴を用意して下さり、その長靴が良い仕事をして安全にジャングルを探検する事ができました。
冬で天候も悪かったので思った以上に遭遇する生物は少なめでした。しかし、見たかった野生のヤシガニに遭遇する事ができました。ガイドさんが「食べる事が出来て、エビとカニの間みたいな味でとても美味しい。しかし、捕獲時期が限定されているから今は食べられない」と教えて下さって食べてみたくなりました。他にも、ジャングルに生息する昆虫や植物のこと、石垣島の文化等、知識が豊富で興味津々に話をたくさん聞く事が出来ました。こう言った、地元の方ならではのお話が聞ける事がツアーの醍醐味だなと感じました。
体験した翌日、フラッと市場に行くと奇跡的に昨日遭遇したヤシガニが売られていました！！ガイドさんの言った言葉を思い出し、私達は食べることにしました。結果、食べて正解！！！教えてくださったとおり、とても美味しかったです。特に味噌がおいしかったです。
もし、ツアーに参加していなかったら見た目がちょっと怖いヤシガニさんを食べることはなかったと思います。
ジャングルの真っ暗闇を懐中電灯一本でかき分ける体験は滅多に出来ないと思います。迷っていたら、ぜひ、一度参加してみてほしいです！！
次は、夏が良く星が見えるみたいなのでその時期また訪れたいと思います。

1. Iriomote Island Mangrove Tour
The guide provided fascinating explanations, and the photo opportunities were well-organized, making it a lot of fun!
2. Yubu Island
Traveling by water buffalo cart was relaxing, and we were very satisfied with the extraordinary atmosphere! The island exploration took about an hour, including lunchtime, so we couldn't see everything, but that was fine.
3. Taketomi Island
Be careful with the glass-bottom boat; if you get too absorbed, you might feel a bit nauseous! You can see the fish clearly. The walking distance on the island was a bit tough for my parents.
Still, it was a very satisfying tour where we could fully enjoy the remote islands!

I wonder where we are being taken.
We are moving quickly down a pitch-black road.
The place we arrived at was also dark, a jungle.
At first, I was a bit anxious, but the staff's guidance and explanations were thorough, and I participated with excitement.
The starry sky was beautiful, and the sound of the waves at night along with the night jungle was mystical. I'm really glad we participated because it's a place we would never have been able to go on our own.
