Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I booked a tour with Beltora for the first time domestically, and I experienced the same reliable and reassuring service as always. The staff at Dream Tourism, who assisted us this time, were all efficient and friendly.

I had thought we would be using regular ferries to visit each island, but I learned that Dream Tourism owns a large boat. Although each passenger had a different itinerary, it was reassuring to know that everyone on board was a tourist who booked through Dream Tourism.

I was very satisfied, but I rated it three stars because I was concerned about the behavior of the male water buffalo guide at the Taketomi Island "Taketomi Tourism Center." While it might have been something I could overlook, I believe many others felt uncomfortable, so I felt it was necessary to mention it for future improvement.

First, while boarding, he addressed a female passenger who had removed her mask, saying, "The woman at the back, please put on your mask. We had an explanation about this, right?" I understand that being cautious about COVID-19 is important on an island with limited medical facilities, but it has been nearly three years since then, and with vaccinations and other measures in place, it should be clear that wearing masks outdoors is not as significant. There could have been a kinder way to address the customers. Furthermore, there was no actual explanation given; later, I checked inside the first building and saw a "mask required" sign at the reception, but there was no verbal explanation.

The most puzzling comment was, "Please refrain from taking photos, or it will get out of hand." Passengers who were eager to take pictures had to put their cameras away. Yet, when a passenger filmed at the main sightseeing spot, the guide remarked, "My eyes are in that video," reprimanding them for filming. When I heard about the photo ban, I thought that the sound of the camera would startle the water buffalo and cause chaos, which is why other tourists might have refrained from taking pictures. However, why is it that video recording without sound is also prohibited? Tourists walking on the road were freely taking photos and videos, so why were we on the water buffalo cart the only ones banned from doing so? I imagine that passengers who wanted to take great photos at the best shooting spot left quite dissatisfied without any pictures.

Is it the case that the "Taketomi Tourism Center" prohibits photo and video recording during the ride, or is this just the whim of this male staff member?

Additionally, while they seem to quickly collect the buffalo's urine in a bucket to prevent it from being scattered on the road, the guide would cover it with sand using his foot, and despite claiming to have children, he ignored the wishes of the kids. Out of curiosity, I looked up the "Taketomi Tourism Center" after returning home, and I found numerous negative comments about the staff. I felt that this company needs to relearn what customer service should be and how to interact with customers from the ground up. Given how great the other staff members were, I think this one unpleasant interaction is a prime example of how a single negative experience can ruin an otherwise enjoyable trip. While it was not directed at us personally, if it had been, I would have rated it one star.

In any case, since neither I nor the other customers could take photos, I would like "Taketomi Tourism Center" to clarify their stance on this matter. There was no sign prohibiting photography inside the center's building, so it seems this was indeed the personal judgment of this male staff member.

コロナ禍のため初めて国内でベルトラさんのツアーを申し込みましたが、変わらぬ安心、確実なサービスでした。今回お世話になったドリーム観光さんもスタッフ全員手際よく、好意的な方ばかりでした。
定期便で各島を回ると思っていたら、ドリーム観光さん自社の大きな船を保有しているのですね。乗船客それぞれのコースは違うものの全員ドリーム観光で申し込んだ観光客のみというのも間違いがなくて安心しました。

大変満足だったのですが、星3つにしたのは竹富島での「竹富観光センター」男性水牛ガイドの対応が気になったから。
スルーしようと思えばできる範囲だと思いますが、多くの方が不快な思いしているとは思うので、今後の改善のためにあえて書かせていただきます。

まず乗車して自分たちのことではないのですが、マスクを外されている女性客に対して「一番後ろの女性の方。マスクしてください。説明ありましたよね」といったものの言い方。医療機関の限られた島でコロナにナーバスになるのは分かるのですが、すでに3年近く経過してワクチン等の対応も進み、外でのマスク着用がそれほど意味をなさいことはわかっているはず。もっと客に配慮した優しいものの言い方はあったはず。
そして、実際そんな説明はありませんでした。後で最初の建物の中で確認したところ、受付に「マスク着用」の表示がありましたが口頭で説明があったわけではありません。

そして一番？？？？なことは「収集が付かなくなるので写真撮影はやめてください」との発言。カメラを出して撮影する気満々だった搭乗客はカメラを鞄にしまう羽目に。それでも一番の観光名所でビデオ撮影した客には「ビデオには私の目が映っていますからね」とビデオ撮影をとがめる発言。
写真撮影禁止と聞いた時、自分を含めて水牛がシャッター音に驚いて収集が付かなくなるものだと思い、他の観光客も遠慮したのだと思います。
なのに、音の出ないビデオまでダメなのは何か理由があるのでしょうか？
路を歩いている観光客は自由に写真撮影、ビデオ撮影しているのに水牛車に乗っている私達だけがなぜ禁止なのでしょう？
一番の撮影スポットでいい写真を撮りたかぅた搭乗客は誰一人写真を撮ることなく終了したのでかなり不満だったのでは。
「竹富観光センター」では搭乗中の写真撮影、ビデオ撮影を禁止しているんでしょうか？それともこの男性職員だけの我儘なのでしょうか？

それ以外にも、牛の尿はバケツですぐに受け取って路に撒かないようにするのでしょうが、足で砂をかけてごまかしたり、自分が子供いるといっていた割にはお子さんへの希望を無視してたり、仕事の愚痴を言ったりと、なんか俺様の「俺の言うことに従え」的な高圧的な感じでかなり不快感がありました。

ちょっと気になり帰宅後「竹富観光センター」を調べてみたのですが、従業員の悪いコメントが出てくる出てくる。
この会社は顧客に対するサービスはどうあるべきなのか、接客はどうあるべきなのかを1から勉強し直す必要があるのではと感じました。
他の接客をしてくれた方々がとても良かっただけに、たった一人の不愉快な対応がせっかくの楽しい旅行を台無しにしてしまう良い例だと思いました。
決して自分たち個人に発せられたものではありませんが、もし自分たち個人に向いたものでしたら評価は星1つでした。

ともかく自分も含め他のお客さんも写真撮影はできなかったので「竹富観光センター」としてこれに対してどういう認識でいるのかは明確にしていただきたいと思います。センターの建物内には写真撮影禁止の文字はありませんでしたのでやはりこの男性職員独自の判断だったのでしょうか。

観光客を楽しませて、他では味わえない経験をさせていただいている貴重なお仕事なのですから、少しだけ行動変化していただけるだけで、客側ももっと楽しい経験ができるようになると思いましたので厳しいコメントを書かせていただきました。

I signed up because there was a shuttle service. I was satisfied with the tour itself, but I was very disappointed when I was left behind at the Ishigaki Port Ferry Terminal during the return shuttle due to a bathroom stop.

On the day of the tour, I was picked up at my hotel and checked in at the counter at Ishigaki Port Ferry Terminal, where I received multiple tickets. After that, we moved to the boat and traveled to Iriomote Island. Once we arrived at Iriomote Island, we took a bus to the mangrove cruise boat, and then again took a bus to the water buffalo cart boarding area. We traveled to Yubu Island by water buffalo cart and had free time (lunch was provided, so we moved to the restaurant within the allotted time to eat) to explore the island. After that, we returned to the water buffalo cart, switched from the bus to the boat, and moved to Taketomi Island. On Taketomi Island, we drove around the island in a water buffalo cart and then had free time. Since we basically moved around on our own, I was able to quickly buy souvenirs at various places, so I was satisfied with the tour content.

What was disappointing was that when I returned from Taketomi Island to Ishigaki Port Ferry Terminal, I had to stop by the bathroom due to feeling unwell, and when I returned to the tour counter, I was told that the shuttle had already finished. I had to pay for a taxi back to the hotel. When I was picked up at the hotel, I received a call, and at the departure counter, I was told they would wait until we returned to the counter after the tour, so I really wished they had at least confirmed by phone. 当日はホテルまで迎えに来ていただき、石垣港離島ターミナルのカウンターで受付し複数枚チケットを受け取りました。その後各々で船に移動し、西表島まで船で移動しました。西表島についてからは各々でバスに乗りマングローブ遊覧船に移動し、その後再びバスで水牛車乗り場に移動。水牛車で由布島に移動し自由時間（昼食は用意されているので各々で時間内にレストランに移動して食べる）で島を散策、その後再び水牛車に戻り、バスから船に乗り換え竹富島に移動しました。竹富島では水牛車で島をドライブして、その後自由時間でした。移動は基本的に自分たちで移動するため、各所でささっとお土産を買って移動できたので、ツアー内容は満足でした。
残念だったのは竹富島から石垣港離島ターミナルに戻った際、体調を崩したためトイレに立ち寄ってからツアーカウンターに戻ったところ、すでに送迎は終わったと言われ、自腹でタクシーでホテルまで戻りました。ホテルに迎えにきていただいた際は電話があったのと、出発時のカウンターではツアー後カウンターに戻ってくるまで待っていますと言われたこともあり、せめて電話確認していただきたかったです。
ツアー自体は満足でしたが最後でとてもがっかりしました。

I was worried about what would happen since a typhoon was approaching, but on the day of the tour, it was incredibly sunny!
Mangrove cruise → rode a water buffalo to Yufu Island → had lunch → moved to Taketomi Island → rented bikes and toured the key spots on the island. I even dipped my feet in the sea at Kondoi Beach. We had some extra time, so we enjoyed cocktails at a café. Overall, it was a fulfilling experience, and I was very satisfied.
I think 15,000 yen is an excellent value for this!

台風が近づいてきたのでどうなるかと思いましたが、ツアー当日はめちゃ晴れ！
マングローブクルーズ→水牛乗って由布島へ移動→ランチ食べて→竹富島移動→レンタル借りて島の要所を見学。コンドイビーチで足まで海に浸かったり。少し時間も余ったのでカフェでカクテル飲んで全体的に充実していて大満足。
これで15000円はコスパ抜群だと思います！

Even with a short stay, I was glad to be able to quickly visit various islands. On Iriomote Island, I enjoyed a mangrove tour with clear and polite explanations. The bus driver's announcements were also very entertaining. On Yubu Island, I rode a water buffalo cart while listening to the sound of the sanshin, and I was able to take commemorative photos with the water buffalo. After enjoying a delicious bento box, I leisurely strolled around the island. On Taketomi Island, I rented a bicycle and explored. I had a lot of fun planning my own route using a map to visit the places I wanted to see. However, when I encountered a water buffalo cart along the way and stopped to look around, I didn't know where to move out of the way. When I asked which direction they were going, I was told harshly, "You're in the way. We're going that way," which was intimidating. 滞在日数が少なくても、色々な島をサクッと訪れることが出来て良かったです。西表島では、わかりやすい丁寧な説明を受けながらマングローブを遊覧出来て楽しかったです。バスの運転手さんのアナウンスもとても面白かったです。由布島では三線を音色を聴きながら水牛車に乗って、水牛と一緒に記念撮影が撮れました。美味しい幕の内弁当を食べたあと、島の中をゆったりと散歩しながら満喫する事も出来ました。竹富島では自転車レンタルをしてまわりました。地図を見ながら自分でルートを考えて見たいところを巡りましたが、とても楽しかったです。途中水牛車がいたので自転車を止めて周りを見ましたが、どこに避けたら良いのか分からず、どっちの方向へ行かれますか？と尋ねたら「邪魔なんだけど。そっち通るから。」とキツく言われて怖かったです。目線の位置が高くなると気持ちが大きくなったりする事があると聞いた事がありますが、乗っていた乗客もこちらを見てコソコソ話しながら馬鹿にしたように鼻で笑っていました。色々ストレスが溜まってイライラするのもわかりますが、質問にも答えず攻撃的な発言は不愉快でした。道で水牛車に出会ったら無言で急いで逃げるのが良いかもしれません。モヤモヤしたままで、気分良く終われなかったのは残念ですが、効率的なツアーだと思います。

We participated as a family of four adults and three children. The coral we saw from the glass-bottom boat was more vibrant and breathtaking than anything I had ever seen before. It was a different kind of excitement compared to snorkeling! Both adults and children were thrilled. The water buffalo tour allowed us to see the town of Taketomi Island at a leisurely pace, and we also enjoyed the lovely songs from our guide. It was a hot day, but the water buffalo cart was cool in the shade.

大人4人、子供3人の家族で参加。グラスボートから見る珊瑚は、今まで見たことがないほど、色鮮やかで、感動的でした。シュノーケリングとはまた違った感動があります！大人も子供も大興奮でした。水牛での周遊は、竹富島の町中をゆっくり見られ、また、ガイドさんの素敵な歌も聞けてよかったです。暑い日でしたが、水牛の荷台は、日陰で涼しかったです。

I recommend signing up for this tour on the first day. This way, you can get a good grasp of the sightseeing options and narrow down what you want to experience. I was able to make reservations for the things I wanted to do from the second day onward, which made for a fulfilling trip.

The water buffalo cart experience was great, as it allowed us to enjoy two different conditions. The glass-bottom boat offered high underwater visibility, and we could see plenty of fish clearly.

Since I boarded first, I asked the captain and guide which side would be better to sit on, and they said, "Both sides are the same. We'll turn around on the way back. It might be better to sit on the left side, which won't be in the sun until we depart." So, I sat on the left. I was taken to places in Ishigaki Island that I had never been to before! I really wanted to see a lot of beautiful scenery, so I asked to go to as many places as possible within the time limit. I wanted to visit Kabira Bay, and for the rest, I left it up to my guide. It was also great that we stopped by a shop for delicious pineapple juice along the way.

石垣島で今まで行ったことのないところへ連れて行ってもらえました！とにかく綺麗な景色をたくさん観たかったので、時間内に行けるだけ行ってもらいました。

Iriomote Island: It seems that 90% of the island is a protected area, truly giving it a jungle feel. The mangroves were quite impressive!

Yubu Island: The water buffalo carts are a must-see! The buffalo driver plays Okinawan songs on the sanshin.

Taketomi Island: The sea was incredibly beautiful! I think the combination of the sandy beach and the emerald green sea is among the best in the outlying islands. Riding a bicycle in the midsummer heat can be a bit tough, though... haha.

There are repeated transfers by boat and bus, which can be quite strenuous. Be careful of motion sickness. However, this tour is perfect for efficiently exploring three completely different islands and finding your favorite one!

I participated in the tour because I wanted to explore other islands before going to Kohama Island the day after tomorrow. This tour is packed with highlights from each island.

The mangrove cruising in Iriomote was limited due to water depth, but I enjoyed the tropical plants. Riding the water buffalo cart on Yubu Island was a long-time dream come true for me. It felt completely different from the mainland, almost like being overseas. Yubu Island is a tropical botanical garden, so I got to see beautiful flowers. The gelato I had there was the best.

On Taketomi Island, I rented a bicycle and went cycling. I swam at a very beautiful beach and then returned. There are free changing rooms and showers, so if you love swimming, definitely bring your swimsuit!

I still have more to say, but thank you for such a fulfilling and enjoyable time.

I had a great time with a plan to quickly explore Iriomote Island and Taketomi Island in one day. The lunch was quite substantial. The plan included riding a water buffalo on Taketomi Island, but the water buffalo took a while to arrive, which made me anxious about whether we would make it in time for the bus. I felt that it would have been better to shorten the stay on Yufu Island to one hour and extend the time on Taketomi Island instead.

Since I couldn't rent a car this time, I used a sightseeing taxi for the first time. Even with a navigation system and a mobile phone, moving around in an unfamiliar area can be challenging. This is my second time visiting Ishigaki Island, but during my last trip, I only went diving. This summer, I decided to do some sightseeing and participated in a tour during my free time.

In terms of time, it was almost half a day with lunch included, and the morning meeting time wasn't too early. The walking involved wasn't too much, making it an easy tour to join. Since it covers the classic spots, I think it's a recommended tour for those who want to sightsee efficiently.

Additionally, although it's not part of the itinerary, there are some entertainment options on the bus (including a sanshin performance). Please check the details by participating. From the bus window, we also got to see the family home of Eisho Higa from BEGIN (a guesthouse) and the home of Yoko Gushiken (next to which is a memorial hall), making it an enjoyable tour.

石垣島は2度目になりますが、前回行った時はダイビングしかしなかったので、今夏は観光をしようと、空いた時間を使って参加しました。

時間的には、お昼付きでほぼ半日、朝の集合もそれほど早くなく、歩く行程もそれほどないので参加しやすいツアーで、定番の場所はだいたい回っているので、効率よく観光をしたい方にはお勧めのツアーだと思います。

On the first day in Ishigaki Island, I used a sightseeing taxi for five hours. I usually rent a car for sightseeing, but there were several advantages compared to that, so I’d like to share them.

Advantage 1: Recommendations for sightseeing spots, allowing for efficient touring

Initially, I thought I would only have enough time to visit Kabira Bay, Yaima Village, the limestone caves, and the Tomb of the Chinese. However, I entrusted the order to the driver and was additionally taken to recommended places, which made for a fulfilling experience. I was very satisfied as I was able to take photos at various spots like Tamatorizaki Observatory, the Yae-Yama Palm Grove in Maehara, Banna Park, a viewpoint overlooking Kabira Bay, and the northernmost point, Hirakubo Cape.

Also, when the parking lot at the observatory was crowded, I was able to get out of the car first and explore the observatory, which was efficient.

Advantage 2: Discounts for sightseeing taxi users

While some attractions required separate admission fees, I felt it was a good deal as there were slight discounts when I went with the driver to the ticket counter.

Advantage 3: Ability to ask for information at the right moment

During conversations with the driver, I learned the names of birds, trees, and plants visible from the window, as well as how fruits were growing. When using a rental car at tourist spots, it’s common to see something for the first time and wonder, “What is that?” but without knowing the proper nouns to look it up, I often couldn’t investigate or ended up overlooking various sights. What was great about using the sightseeing taxi this time was that I was informed of names and information right when I saw them. I think if I had rented a car, I might not have noticed the mangroves or the dragon fruit growing.

Additionally, I was able to hear about local shops that residents often visit, stories about moving to the island, and various information about Ishigaki Island. Later, when I visited one of those shops, it was fantastic, and I was glad to have had real reviews to refer to.

それぞれの観光地では別途入場料等が必要になるところもありますが、運転手さんとチケットカウンターに行くと少し割引があったりして、お得な気分でした。

メリット３　知りたい情報を知りたいタイミングで聞ける

運転手さんとの会話の中で、実際に窓から見えた鳥、木、植物の名前や、果物の実がなっている様子を知れました。観光地でレンタカーを使う時には、よくある経験として、初めて見る景色で、「これは何だろう？」と思うものがあっても調べるための固有名詞もわからなくて調べられなかったり、知らないからスルーしてしまう景色・モノがいろいろありました。今回、観光タクシーを使ってよかったのは、ちょうどそれを見たタイミングで名前や情報等を教えてもらえたことです。レンタカーを借りていたら、マングローブにも気づかず、ドラゴンフルーツが生えているのも気づかなかったかなと思います。ちょうどいいタイミングで解説してもらえて、よかったです。

　一人で参加しました。周りは、家族づれ・カップル・夫婦・友達などがほとんどで、約３０人くらいのツアーでしたが、遊覧船や途中の移動バスの席が一人掛けでも余裕のある参加人数で気兼ねなく参加できました。また、由布島での昼食も一人用に仕切ってあり、ゆっくり味わいました。
　中でも２種類のマングローブが、一緒になっている所など見どころの多いマングローブ遊覧は見ごたえがありました。それと由布島へ水牛車で海の中を渡っていく様は、観光案内でよく見るあのままの体験で面白かったです。水牛使い手の方のほのぼのとした話も良かったです。
　ツアー参加日は、コロナ感染者が沖縄県でも最高数を更新していく日でしたが、みなさん当然マスクもし、外がほとんどの旅程でしたので、密になることは少なくあまり気にならない、ゆったりしたツアーでした。

First time in Ishigaki Island
Since my return flight was in the evening, I participated in a half-day tour.
Although the time spent at each sightseeing spot was not long, I was able to tour efficiently.
The bus guide entertained us with stories about the history of Ishigaki Island and songs played on the sanshin.
At the end of the tour, when I asked the guide where I could buy mangoes and pineapples, they kindly provided directions, which was very helpful.

帰宅日　夕方の飛行機だったので、半日観光に参加しました。
各観光名所は長い時間の滞在ではありませんでしたが、効率良く観光できました。

Our family isn't great at early morning departures, but considering the afternoon heat, it was the right choice.

The guidance at each location was smooth and well-handled, so we didn't get lost. The explanation about the mangroves at Nakama River was clear thanks to the enthusiastic staff, and on the bus to Yubu Island, the driver's lively talk about life and prices on Iriomote Island (I was surprised to hear that bean sprouts cost 170 yen) and eating goat sashimi provided us with some interesting insights.

The main goal was the water buffalo cart, and it seemed like not everyone was going to play the sanshin, so on the way back, we hopped on a water buffalo cart with a performance and thoroughly enjoyed it.

On Taketomi Island, I had my first glass-bottom boat experience, and I got to ride the water buffalo cart for the second time. By chance, there was a performance of my favorite song "Dōgami," which moved me deeply. I do wish we had more time on Taketomi Island.

Given the season, it's no surprise that the heat was quite intense. Staying hydrated, wearing hats, and using parasols are essential. The sweat we worked up could only be washed off at the hotel.

My two sons experienced the Yaeyama Islands for the first time, and I believe it will be a lifelong memory for them. 各地での誘導は手馴れた様子でスムーズに、こちらが迷うこともありませんでした。
仲間川マングローブもお姉さんのハキハキした説明でわかりやすく、それから由布島に移動するバスでも運転手さんの軽快なトークで西表島の生活や物価(もやし170円には驚き)、ヤギを刺身で食べるなど、なかなか知り得ないお話を聞けてよかったです。

1番の目的だった水牛車は皆さんが三線を演奏する訳ではなさそうなので、戻りに演奏付きの水牛車に乗り込み、堪能させて頂きました。

竹富島では初めてのグラスボート体験
そして2度目の水牛車に乗せてもらい、偶然にも大好きな「童神」の演奏があり、心から感動しました。
竹富島の滞在時間が短かったのはちょっと心残りかな…。

この時期なので当然といえば当然ですが、暑さはかなりのものです。
こまめな水分補給、帽子・日傘必須。
かいた汗はホテルでさっぱり流すしかありません。

息子二人は初めての八重山諸島でしたが、一生の記憶に残してくれたことと思います。
スタッフの方々も暑くて大変だと思いますが、これからも素敵な笑顔で迎えていただきたいです。
また機会あれば利用したいです。
