I encountered Yakushima macaques and Yakushima deer on the Seibu Forest Road. There were also sea turtles. For those without a license, it was very helpful to be taken to various sightseeing spots. It was a satisfying day.

西部林道で、屋久ザル、屋久シカに会えました。
ウミガメもいました。免許の無い者にとって、色々観光スポットへ連れて行ってくれるので、
大変助かりました。
満足した1日となりました。

As beginners, we managed to descend… or at least that's what it felt like.
After all, it was fun to chat with the guide and have a pleasant time.

初心者だった私達は、なんとか下山が出来た…と、思う程の道のりです。
やっぱり、ガイドさんと楽しく喋れて気持ち良く過ごせて楽しかったです。

It's a shame to only go to Jomon Sugi. The moss-covered forest and Taiko Rock are must-sees, and the scenery created by the rivers and trees along the way is incredibly beautiful. However, the path is quite rugged, and even though it's a short time, it can be very tiring, so I think it's best to avoid planning any intense activities afterward.

In my case, the tour was canceled on the scheduled day due to rain (the Jomon Sugi tour was also canceled, leaving all travelers in a "what now" situation), so I was rescheduled to start at 5:00 AM on the last day before my flight. After the tour, I returned the rental items and was then taken to the airport.

Depending on your flight time, participating in this tour on the last day could be a good option (though you should think about how to change clothes, even if you can't take a bath. In the worst case, you could change in the airport restroom...). I think it's a good idea to discuss such arrangements with the guide when you talk on the phone the day before (they will likely call to confirm the schedule).

縄文杉しか行かないのはもったいないですね。苔むす森と太鼓岩は必見ですし、道中の川と木々が織りなす景色は美しさの限り。
ただ、かなり道中は険しく短時間とはいえ相当に疲労するため、終了後に激しいアクティビティを予定することは避けた方がよいと思います。
なお自分の場合は雨で予定日では中止になったので（なお縄文杉ツアーも中止になったので旅行者全員にとって「もはやどうしたら」状態）、飛行機で帰る最終日の早朝5:00スタートに振り替えて頂きました。ツアー終了後はそのままレンタル品を返却しに行き、更に空港まで送って頂きました。
飛行機の時間次第では、最終日にこちらのツアーに参加することも一案と思います（※ただ、風呂には入れないにせよ着替える方法は考えた方がよいです。最悪、空港トイレで着替えればよいですが…）。
こういったアレンジは、ガイドの人と前日に電話で話す際に（向こうから予定確認のためにかかってくるアレンジになると思います）ご相談するとよいと思います。

The walk to Jomon Sugi is quite long along the trolley tracks, and after that, while the path is somewhat maintained with occasional wooden stairs, it is essentially a mountain trail that requires considerable leg strength. At the same time, due to time constraints, you can't really slow down, which makes for quite a challenging experience.

However, the beauty of the scenery along the way, the numerous cedar trees, and Jomon Sugi itself are must-sees if you visit Yakushima. It's a bit disappointing that you can only see Jomon Sugi from a considerable distance, but it is definitely worth it.

Considering the difficulty of the trail, I believe waterproof trekking shoes and high-performance rain gear are essential. If you don't have them, it's better to rent them (possibly even by yourself).

There isn't much time to change clothes, as they just become extra baggage, so I think it's best to return to your hotel or inn and quickly take a bath and change. It would be good to have a towel to wipe off sweat (in the end, it was dripping after wringing it out...).

As for the optional bento, if you can get your favorite food nearby (even if it rains), that would be fine too.

縄文杉まではトロッコ線路に沿って相当に長く歩き、その後は多少整備され時々木製の階段等があるものの基本的には山道で、相当に脚力が必要である一方、時間制約からあまりスピードは落とせないという、なかなか大変な条件でした。
しかし道中の美しさや数々の杉そして縄文杉は、屋久島に行ったなら必見です。縄文杉は結構な距離がある所からしか見ることができないのは、少し残念でした（しかし必見です）。
道中の厳しさにかんがみると、トレッキングシューズは防水本格仕様、そして高性能レインウェアは必須だと思います。持っていなければ素直に（場合によっては自らで）レンタルした方がよいです。
着替えは、着替える暇もあまりないので（荷物にしかならないですし）、素直にホテル・民宿に戻ったら早々に風呂に入って着替えるのがよいと思います。汗を拭くタオルはあった方がよいです（しまいには絞ったらぽたぽたと滴り落ちました…）。
オプションのお弁当は、近くで自分の好きなものが（雨が降ってもよい形で）入手できるなら、それでもよいと思います。

I requested this because it was my first visit to Yakushima! They efficiently took us around the main spots. People of all ages, from the elderly to children, can participate without any difficulty, and of course, adults had a great time too!

初めて屋久島に訪れたのでお願いしました！主要なスポットを効率よく回ってくれます。お年寄りからお子様まで無理なく参加で来ますし、もちろん大人でも充分楽しめました！

The guide was extremely knowledgeable about Yakushima, with rich insights into its history, geography, biology, legends, folklore, and World Heritage status. They explained everything in an interesting way, and I was very moved. As soon as I got back, I recommended this tour to my friends.

ガイドさんは屋久島にめっちゃ詳しい，知識豊富です。歴史，地理，生物，伝説，妖怪談，世界遺産についての知見，面白く説明してくれました。とても感動でした。帰ったらすぐ他の友達にこのツアーを紹介しました。

The website made it easy to change details like ordering bento. Three days before departure, the phone call to confirm necessary items was polite, which made me feel at ease before the trip. We had one guide for every five people.

While many people seem to go without a guide, I requested one since it was my first time trekking to Jomon Sugi. I was extremely satisfied with the result. Our guide, Nakaba, provided detailed explanations about the trees, mountains, and flowers, and was always smiling, kind, and reliable.

The distance was long, so having a professional manage the pace made me feel very secure while walking. If I had gone alone, I think I would have taken too many breaks and gone significantly over time. The bento I ordered was delicious. The miso soup made by the guide was the best. They also took many great photos from good angles. I'm really glad I made this request.

ガイド無しでも行かれる方は多いようですが
初めての縄文杉トレッキングだったのでこちらにお願いしました。結果大満足でした。
ガイドの中馬さんは丁寧に樹木、山、草花の説明をしてくれずっとニコニコ優しく頼りになりました。
とにかく距離が長いのでペース配分をプロの方がして下さる事でとても安心して歩けました
自分だけだと休憩ばかりになってかなり時間オーバーしたと思います。
お願いしたお弁当も美味しかったです。
ガイドさんが作ってくれたお味噌汁が最高でした。
写真も良い角度で沢山撮ってくれました。

I went to see the Jomon Sugi, which I had been curious about for a long time. The 11-hour trip starting at 4 AM was tough, but I had a great time talking with the guide and the other tour participants.

The guide took professional-quality photos for us and made sure we had a fun experience, which truly made for an enjoyable day.

I really appreciated the scenery along the way and the encounters with the animals as we aimed for the Jomon Sugi.

I will work hard, looking forward to the day I can come back to Yakushima! I hope the mountains will call to us again.

ずっと気になっていた縄文杉を見に行きました。朝4時出発の11時間は辛かったですが、
ガイドさんや一緒にツアーをする方とお話ししたりしてすごく楽しかったです。

The guide was very kind. They carefully monitored our fatigue levels and included breaks, making it a very enjoyable experience. Seeing the Yakusugi was truly amazing!

Due to heavy rain on the scheduled day, the trekking was canceled, but I really wanted to participate, so I was able to join a tour on a different date at the last minute. In mid-July, perhaps due to the return of the rainy season, there was heavy rain in the morning the day before, but the weather on the day of the trekking was cloudy. The forest was very deep, and the moss was sparkling with raindrops, creating a truly mystical atmosphere. The view from Taiko Rock after passing through the deep forest was absolutely breathtaking! Since I chose the early morning plan, we only passed a few other people in our group, allowing us to stay at Taiko Rock for a long time. When descending the mountain, we encountered many people, so I think choosing the early morning plan was definitely the right decision! The guide who took care of us was very experienced; upon our arrival, they picked plumeria flowers for us and taught us various things about the history and origins of names while we were in the forest. Thank you for the wonderful time!

参加予定日に大雨が降った関係でその日のトレッキングが中止になってしまったのですが、どうしてもトレッキングに参加したく、急遽別日のツアーへ入れ込んで下さりました。
7月中旬、梅雨戻りのためか前日の午前中は大雨、トレッキング当日の天気は曇りでした。
森はとても深く、苔には雨つゆがついていてキラキラ輝き、本当に神秘的でした。
深い森を抜けた後の太鼓岩からの眺めは本当に絶景でした！
早朝プランを選んでいたので、私たちのグループの他に数人とすれ違うのみで、太鼓岩にも長時間とどまることができました。
山を下る際には大勢とすれ違ったので、早朝プランにして大正解だったと思います！
担当して下さったのはベテランガイドさんで、迎えの際にはプルメリアの花を摘んできてくださったり、森の中では歴史や名前の由来など様々なことを教えていただきました。
楽しい時間をありがとうございました！

I participated in a tour that covered Jomon Sugi and Shiratani Unsuikyo in one day. The guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining, always attentive to the participants. Even though I joined the tour alone, I felt safe and was able to trek without getting bored during the long journey.

Along the way, the guide pointed out many photo spots and provided support for taking pictures at perfect angles, so I was able to capture a lot of wonderful photos. The follow-up after the trekking was also excellent, making it a very satisfying tour.

It truly became an unforgettable memory of a lifetime. I would definitely recommend it to others. Thank you very much.

It was a tour that condensed the charm of Yakushima with carefully selected sightseeing spots and a detailed guide's explanation. For lunch, we had fried flying fish as the main dish, accompanied by plenty of vegetables. They also prepared hot chawanmushi (savory egg custard). Yakusugi Land has well-maintained walking paths where you can stroll while soaking in negative ions. I recommend the 50-minute course for beginners. Since the bus goes up to the summit, those who are prone to motion sickness should prepare some anti-nausea medication.

選りすぐりの観光地と丁寧なガイドさんの説明で、屋久島の魅力が凝縮されたツアーでした。
ランチは飛び魚の唐揚げがメインでお野菜たっぷり。熱々の茶碗蒸しも用意してもらいました。屋久杉ランドは遊歩道が整備され、マイナスイオンを浴びながら散策できます。初心者は50分コースがおすすめ。バスは山頂まで登るので車酔いしやすい人は、酔い止めを準備しておいた方がよいと思います。

I finally got to visit Yakushima, a place I've wanted to go for a long time. Since it's far away and I can't come frequently, and my stay was short, I wanted to see Jomon Sugi and also go to Shiratani Unsuikyo, so I decided to participate in this tour.

I thought it would be nice to have a trekking guide, but I truly felt the greatness of a professional guide during the 11.5-hour journey. They provided guidance, took photos and videos, and facilitated communication, which made the experience even better!

I booked with rental equipment included, and the rental staff were very accommodating, allowing me to participate in the trekking with peace of mind, thank you!

Thanks to the favorable weather, my body definitely felt the long hours of walking up and down (I'm not someone who exercises regularly, so gradually, some parts of my body started to hurt), but it turned into an incredible experience that I could only have here! I believe that if you have the spirit to enjoy, it will become a wonderful memory!

11.5時間＋の道のりガイドはもちろん、写真や動画やコミュニケーション等々、プロのガイドさんの素晴らしさを感じました！

レンタル付きで予約しましたが、レンタルの方も丁寧に対応下さり、安心してトレッキングに参加出来ました、ありがとうございます！

おかげさまで天候にも恵まれ、からだは長時間歩き登り下りしただけありますが(日頃運動をしっかりしている方では無いので、徐々に体のどこかは痛くなります)、

The day before, I went to Taiko Rock in Shiratani Unsuikyo, so I was still feeling sore from muscle pain when I joined the Jomon Sugi tour. Since I was the only man besides the guide and the rest were women, the pace on the trolley path was manageable despite the soreness, but it got tough once we started climbing. Still, the guide took breaks at good intervals and was particular about the photo angles, taking many pictures, which made the climb enjoyable.

When I finally reached Jomon Sugi, I felt a sense of accomplishment and was glad to have participated, especially given the overwhelming presence of Jomon Sugi. On the way back… my knees were shaking. The descent was tougher than the ascent. Since we were ahead of other groups, we ended up descending to the banks of the Arakawa River for a cool down. I was fortunate to have a great guide.

前日に白谷雲水峡の太鼓岩まで行ったため筋肉痛の残る中、縄文杉ツアーに参加しました。私とガイドさん以外、女性ということもありトロッコ道は筋肉痛が気にならないペースでしたが、登り始めたらキツい。それでもガイドさんがいい間隔で休憩を取ってくれるし、写真のアングルにもこだわってくれてたくさん撮っていただき、楽しく登って行けました。
やはり、縄文杉にたどり着いたときは達成感と縄文杉の圧倒的な存在感に参加して良かったと感じました。
帰りは…膝がガクガク。下りは登りよりキツかったです。ほかのグループより早めだったため、ラストは荒川の川辺まで下りてクールダウンも。いいガイドさんに当たって良かったです。

I participated in a tour to Jomon Sugi. The early 4 AM departure was good, but the large bus picked us up and went around about 10 accommodations before heading to the hiking trail. I felt that this explanation should have been provided. There was one guide for seven of us, but our skill levels were quite varied. The guide was a nice person and worked hard, but the pace was slow, and honestly, I got tired. If there are seven people, the levels should be divided, and I wondered if this company was just an intermediary. Given this, I felt that experienced trekkers wouldn't need a guide for the Jomon Sugi tour.

縄文杉のツアーに参加しました。朝4時出発は良いのですが大型バスが迎えに来て宿を10か所くらい回って登山道に行きました。その説明はすべきと感じました。そしてガイドさん一人に7人付きましたがレベルがバラバラ。ガイドさん自身は良い方で一生懸命でしたがペースが遅くて正直疲れてしまいました。7人組むならレベルは分けるべきだし、この会社はただの仲介だったのかと。これならトレッキング経験者なら縄文杉ツアーにガイドはいらないと感じました。

I was anxious about whether I could manage to go to Yakusugi, Shiratani Unsuikyo, and Taiko Rock, but with the assistance of the guide, it was a fulfilling trekking experience. It wasn't just about climbing; the guide also pointed out great photo opportunities and shared many stories about the mountains and their own experiences, which made it enjoyable.
Yakushima, Shiratani Unsuikyo, and Taiko Rock became the most wonderful trekking and honeymoon experience of my life!

I wanted to see Jomon Sugi in Yakushima with my own eyes on our honeymoon, so I joined a tour! We were quite worried about the 10-hour round trip hike since we had no climbing experience, but thanks to our guide, Chigira-san, we were able to safely admire the Jomon Sugi, and we are very satisfied!

The long journey to Jomon Sugi was not at all burdensome because we were able to learn various things along the way. We used a magnifying glass to look at moss, learned how to take "Instagram-worthy" photos, and received explanations about local efforts to protect Yakushima's nature, which was very educational.

Jomon Sugi was breathtaking, and I felt the power of life, gaining energy to tackle tomorrow! Each Yakusugi tree has its own story, and I was moved by each one. I am very grateful for Chigira-san's guidance.

During the descent, my knees started to hurt, but thanks to the trekking poles and support I was lent, the pain eased, and I was able to enjoy the return trip.

It was my birthday that day, and it became an unforgettable memory. I was really happy to be treated to gelato as a birthday present during the transfer.

I would love to come back to Yakushima and hike Jomon Sugi again, as well as try other trekking routes. When I do, I would like to ask Chigira-san to guide us again. I regret not taking a photo with Chigira-san, so next time, please let’s take a picture together!

新婚旅行で屋久島の縄文杉をぜひこの目で見たいと思い、ツアーに参加させていただきました！
往復10時間の山登りと聞いて、登山未経験者の私たちは大変心配しておりましたが、ガイドの千木良さんのサポートのおかげで無事、縄文杉の姿を拝むことができて、大変満足しております！

縄文杉までの長い道のりも、様々なことを教えていただきながら登れたので、全然苦になりませんでした。
ルーペを使って苔を見たり、「映える」写真の撮り方を教えてくださったり、屋久島の自然を守るための地域の取り組みを説明してくださるなど、たくさん勉強になることがありました。

縄文杉は圧巻で生命の力を肌で感じて、明日から頑張るエネルギーをいただくことができました！

縄文杉のほかの屋久杉それぞれに物語があり、ひとつひとつに感動しました。
これも千木良さんが教えてくださったからだと大変感謝しております。

下山中、膝が痛くなってしまったのですが、ストックやサポーターを貸していただいたおかげで、痛みも和らぎ帰りも楽しく帰ってこれました。　

当日、誕生日だったのですが、一生忘れられない思い出になりました。
送迎時に誕生日プレゼントとしてジェラートをごちそうしていただいたのも本当にうれしかったです。

また屋久島にきて縄文杉にも上りたいですし、ほかのトレッキングもしたいと思っています。
その際は、また千木良さんにガイドをお願いしたいと思っています。

Since it was the off-season, I ended up trekking with just the guide. I participated with some anxiety as a beginner in trekking and being out of shape. It was definitely not easy, but thanks to the guide's thoughtful attention, I was able to reach Jomon Sugi and make it back! The guide taught me about great photo spots and how to take pictures, allowing me to capture many wonderful memories. The next day, I was in a lot of pain from muscle soreness, but I truly feel it was worth it! Thank you so much, guide!!

閑散期ということもありガイドさんと2人でのトレッキングとなりました。トレッキング初心者で運動不足という不安を抱えながらの参加でした。決して楽ではなかったですが、ガイドさんの所々の気配りのお陰で縄文杉まで行って帰ってくることができました！撮影スポットや写真の撮り方など教えていただき、たくさんの素敵な思い出を写真に残すことができました。翌日は筋肉痛で大変でしたが行って良かったと本当に思います！ガイド本当にありがとうございました！！

This was my first time joining a tour to Jomon Sugi as a solo traveler. I was worried about whether I could make the round trip in the 10 hours indicated, but the guide provided excellent guidance and even became a photographer at times, taking wonderful pictures. On the final day of my 2-night, 3-day trip to Yakushima, I participated in a morning tour. Although it was only half a day, thanks to the guide's extensive knowledge, I was able to fully enjoy Yakushima. Each stop lasted about 10 minutes, but the guide provided a thorough explanation of Yakushima's history while we were in the car, making the short time enjoyable. After getting off at Miyanoura Port, we took a local bus back to the airport, and the guide also shared recommendations for spots in Miyanoura and details about the bus routes. Thank you!

屋久島旅行2泊3日の最終日に午前一周プランに参加しました。
半日でしたが、ガイドさんの豊富な知識のおかげで屋久島を満喫できました。
ひとつひとつの滞在時間は10分程ですが、目的地に着くまでに、車内で屋久島の歴史について丁寧に解説してくださるので、短い時間でも十分楽しめました。
下車した宮之浦港からは、自分たちで路線バスで空港に戻りましたが、宮之浦でのおすすめスポット、路線バスの詳細も教えていただけました。

My first trekking experience to Jomon Sugi became a memorable event. Initially, I didn't plan to hire a guide, but due to the weather forecast predicting heavy rain right before the trip, I became anxious about whether it was safe to climb alone. So, I decided to book a guide, and it turned out to be the right choice.

The guide assigned to us was a veteran with over 20 years of experience, and not only did he have extensive knowledge about Yakushima's history and the Yakusugi trees, but he also shared fascinating behind-the-scenes stories from TV interviews and movie filming locations. He kept us entertained throughout the trek and during breaks. Despite the rain, he took many photos for us, lightening the mood among the participants, making the entire trekking experience enjoyable. At the finish line, we were treated to hot cocoa, which warmed both our hearts and bodies—it was truly delicious.

When I finally saw the Jomon Sugi at the end, I was moved by its ethereal presence, and the sense of accomplishment was exceptional. Initially, I intended to climb alone, but I believe that having the guide and the other participants with me helped me reach the top. I am grateful to the guide and the fellow participants for sharing this experience.

Although the weather was unfortunate this time, I would love to come back to see Jomon Sugi on a sunny day.

はじめての縄文杉トレッキングで思い出に残るイベントとなりました。
最初はガイドは頼む予定ではありませんでしたが、直前の天気予報で大雨となっており、そもそも登って良いのか、ひとりで大丈夫か、など不安になり、申し込ませて頂きました。結果お願いして正解でした。
担当いただいたガイドさんは20年以上のベテランで屋久島の歴史や屋久杉のことなどの知識が豊富なのはもちろん、テレビの取材の裏話や映画の撮影スポットなどとても興味深い話もして頂き、道中はもちろん休憩中にも楽しませて頂きました。また、雨の中濡れながらもたくさんの写真を撮って頂き、他の参加者も和ませ、終始楽しいトレッキングでした。ゴールではなんとホットココアをいただき心も体も温まり本当に美味しかったです。
ゴールの縄文杉を見れたときは幻想的に佇むその姿に感動し、その達成感は格別でした。最初はひとりで登ろうとしていましたが、結果としてはガイドさんや他の参加者さんたちと一緒だったことも最後まで登りきれたお陰かなと思います。一緒に登れた、ガイドさん、参加者さんに感謝します。
今回はあいにくの天候でしたが、今度は晴れ間の縄文杉も見に来たいと思います。

I participated in this for my honeymoon. The distance was something I don't usually walk, so it was quite tough. However, the sense of accomplishment afterward was unlike anything I had ever experienced.

The guide taught us a lot, which was very informative. The hotel shuttle service was also very convenient.

I highly recommend it.

新婚旅行で参加しました。普段歩くことのない距離なので、とにかくキツイです。しかし、終わった後の達成感は今まで味わったことのないものでした。

ガイドさんがいろいろ教えてくださり、とても勉強になりました。ホテルからの送迎もあり、とても便利。

I am a woman in my 30s. I usually don’t do much exercise.

At first, the path was paved with wooden boards, so even though the distance was long, I was able to move smoothly. After that, we progressed to the hiking trail leading to Jomon Sugi, which involved some ups and downs while being careful with my footing. It was a bit challenging, but I didn’t find it as difficult as I expected (I think the good weather helped).

Most of the other participants were women around the same age, so the pace was just right. I also enjoyed seeing various Yakusugi trees besides Jomon Sugi! Additionally, the tour arranged a delicious lunch bento for us. I would love to use this service again if I have the opportunity.

30代女性です。普段、運動らしい運動はしていません。
途中までは木の板で舗装されたトロッコ道を歩く感じなので、距離は長いですがスイスイ進みました。
その後は縄文杉まで登山道を進むため、足元を気を付けながらの上り下りで若干のキツさはありましたが、思ったより大変ではなかった印象です。(天気が良かったのもあると思います。)
他の参加者の方たちもほとんど同年代の女性だったのでペースが丁度よかったのかなと思います。
縄文杉以外にも色々な屋久杉を見られて面白かったです！
また、ツアーの方でお昼のお弁当を手配していただきましたが美味しかったです！
また機会があれば利用させていただきたいです。

From start to finish, I was guided very carefully, and I was able to enjoy the tour comfortably. As a beginner in mountain climbing, I appreciated the detailed explanations about the various plants along the way, and it felt like a moment of forest therapy while taking photos at a leisurely pace. At Taiko Rock, I was able to fully enjoy the breathtaking views as far as the eye could see, and on the way back, we encountered a family of Japanese macaques, allowing us to stop the car and take many photos. I was very pleased with the flexible response. Thank you very much.

始まりから終わりまで、とても丁寧にガイドしてくださり、心地よくツアーを体験できました。
山登り初心者でしたが、道中はあれこれと植物について詳しくお話くださり、ゆっくりと写真を撮りながら森林セラピーのようなひと時でした。太鼓岩では見渡す限りの絶景を心行くまで堪能でき、帰りの送迎途中でヤクザルの家族に出くわすと、車を止めて沢山の写真を撮影できました。柔軟な対応がとても嬉しかったです。ありがとうございました。

Since I was participating alone, I had various concerns, but the guide was very considerate, and I was able to enjoy the climb with the other participants! Moreover, since it was during the rainy season, there were fewer climbers, and we had the Shiratani Unsuikyo and Taiko Rock all to ourselves! On the way up, the guide provided explanations about the Yakusugi trees and the general tour highlights, and on the way back, we received detailed information about moss, birds, and plants! Additionally, I was lucky enough to see a snake, which is considered a good omen, so that was great!

1人参加だったので、色々心配しておりましたが、ガイドさんにもお気遣い頂き、参加者の方とも楽しく登ることができました！しかも、梅雨の時期ということもあり登山者も少なめで、白谷雲水峡、太鼓岩とも貸切状態でした！行きは屋久杉や、大まかなツアーと見どころの説明をして頂き、帰りは苔や鳥、植物といった細かな説明もしていただきました！そして、ラッキーなことに縁起物とされる蛇まで見れて、よかったです！

Walking for long hours early in the morning and trekking for two consecutive days made me a bit anxious, but having a guide with us both days was reassuring. On the morning we went to Jomon Sugi, we took a bus to the trailhead. Since we were part of a tour, it was convenient to ride on a chartered bus. Thank you for the amazing trekking experience.

朝早くから長時間歩くこと、2日連続のトレッキング、不安はありましたが、2日共ガイドさんが居てくれたことが心強かったです。
縄文杉へ行く朝は登山口までバスで行きます。
ツアーに入ってたので、貸し切りのバスに乗れたことも楽でした。

It's a solo trip for a woman. I was hesitant, but I'm really glad I signed up for the tour. The guide was amazing!!! I have nothing but respect for them. The couple who climbed with me was also wonderful, and I'm glad we connected! I want to come back again!

You can easily explore Yakushima by bus, and the guide provided detailed information about the history of Yakushima and the Yakusugi trees. While some may imagine a challenging trek to Jomon Sugi when thinking of Yakushima, I recommend this sightseeing bus tour for those who may not be confident in their physical strength or for older travelers.

バスで、屋久島を楽に見て回ることができ、ガイドさんも屋久島の歴史や屋久杉のことなどを詳しく教えてくれました。
屋久島と言えば、ハードな縄文杉のトレッキングを想像する方もおられるでしょうが、体力に自信のない方や、年配の方にはこの周遊バスツアーをお勧めします。

Normally, we would receive a notification by 5 PM the day before regarding whether the tour would take place. However, at that time, it wasn't raining yet, and since there was a forecast for bad weather the next day, it was decided that we would go to the Arakawa trailhead and make a decision at 5 AM on the day of the tour.

At 5 AM, it was still just a light rain, so we proceeded with the trek. We started our trekking already wearing rain gear from the beginning. However, the rain intensified as predicted, and by the time we reached Jomon Sugi around noon, it was pouring. There were numerous instances of thunder rumbling in the distance.

Despite this, our guide was very considerate, setting up a tent in the rain so we could have lunch comfortably and even making instant miso soup for us. Everyone quickly finished their lunch and silently walked back the way we came. Even with a rain cover on my backpack, water got inside, my shoes were soaked, and my pants were drenched. But I was glad we went ahead with the trek.

I heard from a staff member at the hotel shop that there were customers who had their trekking plans canceled due to rain in the weather forecast the day before, only to find the weather clear on the day of their tour. So, I felt fortunate that our tour was held, and we were able to go and return safely.

Trekking in Yakushima, known for its rain with 35 rainy days in a month, became a wonderful memory and a great story to share. Thank you to our guide and all the fellow tour members for your support.

本来なら、前日の17時に、ツアー催行の可否の連絡が入るのですが、その時点ではまだ、雨も降っておらず、明日荒天の予報となっていたため、当日荒川登山口まで行って５時の時点で可否を決定するということになりました。
そして、当日の５時、まだ、ほんの小雨だったので決行。
初めから雨具を着てのトレッキングスタートでした。
しかし、雨脚は順調に予報通りとなり、縄文杉に到達した昼近くには土砂降りに。
幾度となく、雷鳴も響き渡り・・・。
それでもガイドさんは皆を気遣ってくれて、昼食が食べやすいように雨の中、テントを張ってくれたり、即席のみそ汁を作ってくれたり・・・。
皆、そそくさと昼食を終え、来た道を黙々と歩きました。
ザックカバーをしていても、リュックの中に雨水が入り、シューズの中もビチョビチョ、パンツの中もグッショリ。
でも、決行していただけて良かったです。
ホテルの売店の店員さんから「前日に天気予報で雨と言われ、トレッキングが中止となったのに、当日お天気になったお客さんもいた」という話を聞いて、
とりあえず、ツアー開催となり、無事に行って帰ってこれただけでも良かったと思いました。
１か月の内、３５日雨が降ると言われている屋久島ならではの雨の中でのトレッキング、良い思い出になり土産話になりました。
ガイドさん、そしてご一緒したツアーの仲間の皆さんお世話になりました。
