I joined the tour solo, but I was able to climb with some really nice people! It was so much fun to hike with such great individuals!!

The guide was very knowledgeable and explained a lot about the plants and the climbing goals, sharing many insights that can only be learned in Yakushima. Before the tour, they communicated with me in detail over the phone regarding equipment checks and my physical condition, allowing me to prepare thoroughly. The climb itself was quite challenging, but we all managed to reach the summit safely, so booking this tour guide was definitely the right choice!

ツアーには1人で弾丸参加しましたが、他の方とも仲良く登山させていただきました！とても気の良い人たちと登山できて楽しかったです！！

ガイドさんはとても博識で、植物の知識や登山の目標など説明してくださり、屋久島でしか知り得ないこともたくさんありました。ツアー参加日前には、装備品の確認や体調面など、電話で細かくやり取りして下さり、しっかり準備して臨むことができました。登山自体はとてもハードでしたが、メンバー全員で無事安全に登りきることができたので、今回のツアーガイドを予約して大正解でした！！

I was filled with anxiety during my first snorkeling experience, but the explanations were clear and I was able to enjoy it.

Regarding my concerns, I thought there would be some preparation needed for my belongings. However, for this tour, there was no need to worry. After signing up for the tour, I received a call once (I'm not sure about the timing) and another call the day before the tour. They provided explanations during those calls, which made me feel at ease to participate in the tour.

Unfortunately, due to the weather, we couldn't see any sea turtles, but even under those circumstances, the tour conveyed the charm of Yakushima.

If I have the opportunity again, I would like to try again.

今回初めてのシュノーケリングで不安でいっぱいでしたが、色々とわかりやすく説明をしていただき楽しく終えることができました。

不安の点でいうと、荷物などの事前準備があると思います。
ただ今回のツアーはその心配はいりませんでした。
理由としては、ツアー申込後？(ここは定かではない)に1度、ツアー前日にもう1度のお電話をいただきました。
その際も説明などをしていただきましたので安心してツアーに参加できました。

ツアー自体は、生憎の天候でウミガメを見ることはできませんでしたが、その状況下でも屋久島の魅力が伝わるようなツアーでした。

また機会がありましたらリベンジさせていただきます。

I participated in a tour on the morning of my departure from Yakushima. I was able to see sea turtles and even swimming squid. Although the visibility in the sea was said to be a bit poor due to the rain from the previous days, I didn't notice it much and was able to fully enjoy the experience! After the tour, I appreciated the warm tea, shower, and hairdryer. The coffee break after getting ready was also a lot of fun as I got to chat with others! Thank you very much! I hope to have the opportunity again.

屋久島から帰る日の午前中にツアーに参加しました。ウミガメに会えて泳いでるイカにも会えて、前日前々日の雨で海は少し見通しが悪いとの事でしたがそんなに分からず満喫することができました！体験が終わってから頂いた温かいお茶、シャワーやドライヤーなどありがたかったです。身支度が終わったあとのコーヒーブレイクもお話を聞いたりしてすごく楽しかったです！本当にありがとうございました！また機会があればお願いします。

I was able to enjoy the Shiratani Unsuikyo by experiencing the plants of Yakushima from the car, engaging all my senses and knowledge. The guide was also interesting, and we had a great time together with the couple who participated with us. I would love to join again if the opportunity arises.

移動中の車の中から屋久島の植物にふれ、目から耳から五感全部はもちろん知識で白谷雲水峡を満喫することが出来ました。ガイドさんもおもしろい方で一緒に参加していたご夫妻の方とみんなで楽しくまわれました。また機会があればお願いしたいです。

I was worried about my footing due to the rain, but I was able to reach Taiko Rock without any injuries, just some muscle soreness. I learned a lot along the way and had a great time!

During my trip to Yakushima, which usually has about 80% rain, we were fortunate to have almost no rain and enjoyed good weather. Thank you. Although my body is still fatigued, I think it would have been much tougher if it had rained.

約8割雨の屋久島で、今回の旅行ではほとんど雨が降らず天候に恵まれました。ありがとうございました。身体の疲労はまだ回復してませんが、雨だったらもっと大変だったと思います。

We participated as a family of four with a 3rd-grade boy and a 6th-grade girl. Before we started, I was a bit worried about the children's stamina, but the guide considered the pace, and we were able to reach the goal safely. We were also fortunate not to be rained on, making it a wonderful memory. I'm grateful to the guide for being so kind and for helping us have a great time.

始まる前は子供の体力に少し不安がありましたが、ガイドの方がペース配分を考えてくださり、無事にゴールまで行くことができました。

It was almost my first time doing serious trekking, but thanks to the support of the guide, I had a great time. The explanations were thorough and educational, and I was very satisfied with the wonderful photos taken. 😊

I participated in the Yakusugi trekking. The guide, Mr. Mitsuhashi, was truly wonderful. It was my first time in Yakushima, and I had a great time.

屋久杉トレッキングに参加しました。ガイドのミツハシ様には本当に良くしていただきました。初めての屋久島でしたが大変楽しめました。

Although we applied as a team of two, we actually participated in a 10-hour trek with a team of seven plus a guide. The team was mostly in their twenties, and we had great conversations. The guide provided explanations and engaged in casual talks that made for a very enjoyable time. We also had dedicated time to take photos, which helped us create lasting memories! We learned about mountain rules, the history of Yakushima, and knowledge about Yakusugi, making it a very satisfying experience. I would love to come back to Yakushima to see Jomon Sugi again. Thank you!

2名での応募でしたが、実際には7人のチーム＋ガイドさんという形で10時間のトレッキングに挑みました。
チームは20代ばかりで話も合い、ガイドさんもそれに合わせた説明や、雑談を行なってくださりとても楽しい時間を過ごさせてもらいました。
写真なども積極的に撮る時間を設けてくださり思い出が形になって残りました！
山のルールから、屋久島の歴史、屋久杉の知識まで教えてくださり大変満足な時間でした。
また、屋久島に縄文杉を見にきたいと思います。

Based on the wave conditions, it was uncertain whether we would see sea turtles today, but in the end, we were able to encounter them multiple times and even got some close-up shots! I was also surprised by the variety of fish in the waters around Yakushima. The guide was kind, and I'm glad I chose this snorkeling tour! It became the best memory of my trip to Yakushima!

波の様子から、今日はウミガメが見られるか分からないとのことでしたが、結果ウミガメに何度も出会うことができ、至近距離でのショットも撮っていただきました！

I participated in the morning of my last day in Yakushima and was moved to see 5 or 6 sea turtles! There were some waves, but I was able to see many sea turtles and fish in the beautiful sea, and I was very satisfied! I also appreciated that photos were taken from various angles. I would like to go snorkeling again when I visit Yakushima!

The combination of the trolley path and mountain trail was a challenging 22 kilometers for someone like me who doesn't usually exercise. However, thanks to the appropriate breaks, photo opportunities, and explanations provided, I was able to keep going without giving up. As it was my first solo trip, I had many anxieties, but I was able to create plenty of memories thanks to the guide, who was like a dad at a sports day, capturing the best shots at each spot!

トロッコ道と山道あわせて22キロと、普段運動をしない身には過酷なコースでしたが、適度に休憩や写真撮影、説明を入れていただいたおかげで、根を上げることなく進めました。初めての1人旅で不安なことも多くありましたが、スポットごとでベストショット撮影いただいたおかげで思い出もたくさん残せました、運動会の時のお父さんみたいなガイドさんで素敵でした！

My husband and I took our first trip to Yakushima to see Jomon Sugi! Given our age (51 and 61), we were quite worried, so we decided to hire a dedicated guide. Our guide was a cool guy named Konaka (from now on, I'll refer to him as "Mr. Konaka" ... haha). My husband has various experiences, so he wasn't too worried, but I had no climbing experience and had just completed five days of work that included various activities right before the Jomon Sugi tour, so I was really concerned about my stamina. However, Mr. Konaka kept us engaged with fascinating stories about the surrounding history, the nature of Yakushima, and lots of information about small frogs, insects, moss, plants, and animals. It felt like we were tracking with a forest biology teacher, and I didn't feel weighed down at all. Along the way, he took many photos for us, and during lunch, we were treated to warm miso soup, thanks to Mr. Konaka, and we somehow made it to Jomon Sugi!!!

There were about 100 people on the deck...? It felt less about seeing Jomon Sugi and more about the happiness from the smiles of everyone there. Everyone was smiling, from the young people to those of us in our golden years, all feeling a sense of accomplishment as we went to meet Jomon Sugi. And guess what! That day, we were the 100th group of customers for Mr. Konaka's Jomon Sugi tour, so I was really glad we made it!

On the way back, I was thinking about ice cream as I hurried down, but I also cooled my feet in the river along the way. I realized that Mr. Konaka was thoughtfully observing the guests and considering detours based on their conditions.

More importantly, I want to share with those reading this that Mr. Konaka is truly amazing. What makes him so great is that on the way back along the tramway, we passed a family of four foreigners. The two daughters were walking ahead in the opposite direction without a guide, trying to climb on their own as it was getting late. Just as they were about to head down a suspicious side path, Mr. Konaka stopped them and asked, "Where are you going?" in English. (He speaks English... by the way, I do too, but I didn't mention that to him.) The father of that family looked puzzled and insisted, "It's fine! No problem!" However, Mr. Konaka didn't let it go and firmly said, "No, that's not right. It's dangerous to go that way at this time." The father replied, "No, it's fine! I'm quite confident!" At that moment, I thought to myself, "Huh? A professional guide is telling you this, and you're still insisting?!" But I kept watching Mr. Konaka.

In the midst of a somewhat tense atmosphere, Mr. Konaka persisted, asking, "Do you have a map? If you keep going this way at this time, you could get hurt." The father then showed his phone's map, pointing to a location that was indeed wrong. Mr. Konaka explained, "That's over here, so the direction you're heading is incorrect." The father looked puzzled for a moment but then checked the map again, realized his mistake, and said, "Oh... you're right. Thank you..." He confirmed that they would turn back to catch up with his daughters who had gone ahead, and we all descended together.

At that moment, I witnessed how Mr. Konaka's insistence and refusal to ignore that vulnerable family saved their lives.

I felt incredibly lucky to have been guided by such a super professional guide like Mr. Konaka! I hope to meet him again someday.

To everyone, I highly recommend hiring a guide if you don't have much climbing experience when visiting Jomon Sugi. If you're worried about inconveniencing others, please consider hiring a private guide! I'm sure it will be a fun trekking experience.

主人と二人で初の屋久島、縄文杉へ！初老の身体(当方51と61)にはあまりに心配で専属のガイドさんを付けて行く事にしました。ガイドさんは小仲さんというカッコいい感じのガイドさんでした。（以降「小仲先生」と呼びます...笑）主人は色々と経験があるので心配はしていなかったのですが、私が登山経験が皆無で更に直前まで既に５日間アクティビティーも含めた仕事をした後での縄文杉ツアーでしたので体力がもつかどうか心配で心配で。。。ですが小仲先生がずぅーーーーーーっと様々なお話しをして下さり、周辺の歴史から屋久島の自然のお話し、小さなカエルや昆虫や苔・植物・動物のお話し満載で全く気が重くならずにまるでフォレストバイオロジーの先生とトラッキングをしている感じでした。途中たくさん写真も撮って頂いたりランチ時はあったかいお味噌汁サービスもあったりと小仲先生のお陰でなんとか縄文杉へ到着！！！
デッキには100名くらいいらっしゃったのか...? あそこは縄文杉を見るというよりそこに居る人たちの笑顔で幸せになるとう感じがしました。みんなみんな笑顔で若い人も私たちの様な初老さんもみーんなニコニコ達成感のもと縄文杉様に会いに行く感じでした。
そして何と！その日は私達が小仲先生の縄文杉ツアー100組目のお客さんだったという事で何とか登れて本当に良かった〜！
帰りは私はアイスクリームの事を考えながらガンガン降りて行きましたが途中河原で足を冷やしたりと小仲先生も色々工夫してお客さんの様子を見て寄り道を考えて下さっているんだなぁと思いました。

それより私がここでこれを読む方にお知らせしたいのが、小仲先生は本当に素晴らしくて、何が素晴らしいかと言うと帰りのトロッコ道の途中で外国人の4人家族とすれ違いました。先に娘さん2人がどんどん私達とは逆方向へ歩いて行きました。夕方に差し掛かる時間なのにガイドさん無しで自分たちで登りに行こうとしている様子でした。そして道も横道の怪しい方向へ入ろうとしたところで小仲先生が「ストップ！どこにいくの？」と、もちろん英語で。（先生は英語ができます...ちなみに私もできるのでした...先生には言わなかったのですが）ですがそのファミリーのお父さんは怪訝な顔をして「大丈夫だよ！問題ないよ！」の一点張り。しかし小仲先生は放置する事なく「いや、そっちは違うよ、この時間からそっちに向かうのは危険だよ。」（もちろん英語で）お父さんは「いや、大丈夫だよ！（怪訝な顔のまま）私はかなり自信があるよ。」っと。。。ここで私は心の中で「はっあ〜？プロのガイドさんが言うとんのになんやこのオッサンは？！」と思っていましたが小仲先生を見守っておりました。半ば不穏な雰囲気が漂うなか小仲先生は食い下がる事なく「どこに行こうとしているか地図は？こんな時間にこれ以上このまま行ったら君たち死んじゃうよ。」っとはっきりおっしゃいました。それでそのお父さんは携帯のマップを見せて「ここだよ！」と指で示したところがやはり間違っていたのか小仲先生が「それはこっちだから今行こうとしている方は違いだよね。」っと。そのお父さんは一瞬また怪訝な顔をしたもののマップをもう一度確認して小仲さんんが指差すところを確認して自分が間違っている事にやっと気づき「あ、、、ほんとだ。どうも。。。」っと。先に進んでしまっている娘ちゃん達を追いますとの事で戻るという事を確認して私たちも下山しました。

あの時小仲先生が食い下がったり放置したりする事なくしっかりその無防備ファミリーに指摘した事で彼らは命拾いした瞬間を私は経験したのでした。

そんな超・プロフェッシャルガイドの小仲先生にガイドして頂きむちゃむちゃラッキーやん！と思った次第でした。またいつかお会いしたいです。

皆様、縄文杉は登山経験あまり無い方々はガイドさんを付けられる事をおすすめしますのと他に迷惑が心配な方はどうぞプライベートでガイドさんを付けられて下さい！きっと楽しいトレッキングになると思います。

It was almost my first time snorkeling, but I was taught carefully and was able to enjoy it! The transportation and shower facilities were great, and it was nice to be able to participate even on the last day of my trip! They took many photos and sent them to me, creating wonderful memories of Yakushima! Thank you very much.

Overall, I felt the quality of the guide was low.

- Communication
The guide was more like a pace-setter walking ahead rather than a true guide. They provided explanations at key points, but the content was very superficial. It would have been better to walk alone and read the informational signs. I asked the guide several times about plants and nature, but they mumbled and evaded my questions. They were probably not a professional guide, but rather a seasonal worker for the summer.

- Photography
At the photo spots, the guide took commemorative photos with their smartphone. As a result, there was no time to take pictures with my own camera. This was likely to save time. At first, I thought it was convenient, but I was surprised when I received the photos on the way back. They were taken with an iPhone's portrait mode, and the important Yakusugi and Jomon Sugi were out of focus (laughs). I couldn't help but laugh. While it makes for a funny story, as mentioned earlier, I couldn't take any photos with my own smartphone. I should have at least taken pictures of my companions. The memories consist of countless blurry photos of Yakusugi (laughs). By the way, the composition of the photos was also disastrous. If you're mainly going for photography, I wouldn't recommend this tour.

- Overall Tour Guide Experience
It’s not that the guide I had was particularly bad. I encountered about ten guides, and all of them had strong personalities. There were various types, including an aggressive older man who pressured the tour participants and another older man who only spoke to young women. To be honest, considering personality, our guide who didn’t talk much seemed better. I want you to understand that it was that bad.

- Issues with the Tour
The tour participants all took the same bus to the trailhead, which had nearly 60 people on board. It’s easy to imagine what happens when they all start at the same time. Most guides maintain the same pace, so it becomes crowded no matter where you go. You can’t relax at the photo spots, and despite being in Yakushima, the situation is perpetually crowded. If that’s the case, it would be better to go alone to enjoy the true essence of Yakushima.

- In Summary
Be cautious when booking a guide. The website states "guide required," but that’s to be expected since the site is run by those involved in guiding. If you have about six hours of hiking experience, I think it’s fine to go alone. The trails are well-maintained and quite easy to navigate. I believe beginners should hire a guide. They did a great job managing the pace and successfully took all participants to Jomon Sugi. However, you shouldn’t expect more than that.

I don’t understand why this tour has such high ratings.

総じてガイドの質が低く感じた。
・コミュニケーション面
ガイドというよりは、先頭を歩いてくれるペースメーカー。要所要所で説明を挟んでくれるが内容があまりにも薄い。これなら1人で歩いて説明の看板を見た方がいい。植物や自然についてガイドに何度か質問したが、ごにょごにょ話して濁された。おそらく専門のガイドではなく夏だけのバイトなのだろ。

・写真撮影
撮影ポイントでは、ガイドさんのスマホで記念撮影をしてくれる。それゆえに自分のカメラで撮影する時間は無い。おそらく時間短縮なのだろう。最初は便利だと思ったが、撮影された写真を帰り際もらって驚いた。iPhoneのポートレートで写真撮影されていた。肝心の屋久杉や縄文杉がぼけているのである(笑)。さすがに笑ってしまった。笑い話にはなるが、先述したとおり自分のスマホでは撮れていない。これなら同行者の写真だけでも撮っておけばよかった。思い出の写真は、無数のボケた屋久杉の写真だった(笑)
ちなみに写真の構図も致命的だった。写真撮影メインで行くのならツアーはおすすめしない。

・ツアーガイド全体
私のあたったガイドがとくにハズレだったかというとそうでは無い。ガイド10人くらいと遭遇したが、全員癖が強い。オラオラ系でツアー客に圧をかけるおじさんや、若い女性にだけ話しかけるおじさんなど様々だった。正直なところ、性格面で見ればとくに話さない我々のガイドの方がマシに思えた。それくらい酷いということは承知して欲しい。

・ツアーによる弊害
ツアー参加者は同じバスで登山口まで行くわけだか、このバスには60人近くが登場している。これが同時にスタートするとどうなるかは容易に想像がつく。だいたいどのガイドも同じペースなのでどこに行っても人だらけになるのだ。撮影ポイントでもゆっくりできず、せっかくの屋久島なのに人だらけな状況が永遠に続く。これだったら単独で行った方が屋久島らしさを楽しめる。

・総じて
ガイドの申し込みは慎重に。サイトを見ると「ガイド必須」と書いてあるが、そのサイトの運営はだいたいガイド関係者なのだから当たり前だ。往復6時間程度の登山経験者だったら単独でいっても構わないと思う。登山道も整備されており相当登りやすかった。登山未経験者はガイドをつけるべきだと思う。ペース配分はさすがで、参加者全員を縄文杉まで連れて行っていたのは流石と言える。ただ、それ以上を期待してはいけない。


なんでこんなに評価が高いのか分からないツアーだった

The snorkeling lesson, the photo session with the sea turtles, and the transportation afterward were all excellent! It was a very satisfying tour.

It was amazing!
My group consisted of six people in their 20s and 30s, plus our guide.
The guide was friendly and checked in on our condition regularly.
Since it was a younger group, the walking pace was fast and it was tough, but it felt like they adjusted appropriately for each group.
In exchange, they allowed us some time at the end to dip our feet in the river as a form of icing! I really felt the difference in my legs afterward. (I wished I could have soaked up to my thighs... Walking dries you out, so I thought it might have been better to wet my sports tights by going into the river...)
The return bus time was fixed, so if we missed it, we would be left behind, but the guide planned everything well, and we made it back just in time at 16:45.
On this day (September 19), there were fewer people, which allowed us to spend more time at key spots and take fun photos!
Snacks are essential (I mostly ate on the way there. I didn't take much on the way back since I had a bento in my stomach!). Even if it's sunny, the area around Jomon Sugi can be windy and cold, which feels refreshing for a hot body, but it gets really cold during lunch, so rain gear is a must!
Quick-drying T-shirts are essential! The 6:00 departure this time was fine without a headlamp as it got bright enough. According to the guide, it's right on the edge of needing one or not.
You can fill your water bottle at more than five places (including the river), so if you bring a 500ml bottle of water and a 500ml sports drink, you can keep refilling as long as you don't mind the river water!
I drank over 2 liters during this hike (in September). There were only two proper toilets, but it was fine since I was sweating it out. There is also a portable toilet near Jomon Sugi, so having one portable toilet is a good idea.
The two toilets had toilet paper.
I thought about bringing work gloves, but there weren't many trees or rocks that would hurt my hands, so I managed without them (as long as you don't slip!).
There were wooden benches and stones at key rest spots where we could take a break. Unless it rains heavily, you might not need an umbrella or leisure sheet since you'll be covered by trees and leaves, but a folding umbrella is essential! Mountain weather can change suddenly!
Trekking poles are a must for those who aren't confident in their stamina! I borrowed one from the guide.

There might be a lot I haven't written about...
Let's try to keep our backpacks light and avoid bringing unnecessary items!

私のグループは20代から30代の6人+ガイドさん
ガイドさんがフレンドリーで体調も都度確認してくれました。
若めなグループだったせいか、歩くスピードが早くて大変でしたが、多分グループ毎に適切な対応を取ってくれている感じでした。
そのかわりアイシングがわりに川に足を入る時間を最後取ってくれたりしてくれました！後日、足の具合が全然違うのを実感してます。(太腿まで浸かりたかった...歩いていると乾燥するからスポーツタイツ濡らしても川にはいれば良かったかも...と後日)
帰りのバスの時間が決定しているので乗れなければ置いて行かれるので時間厳守ガイドさんがちゃんと予定を組んでいただき16:45ギリギリで帰って来れました。
今回(9/19)は人が少なかったお陰で要所滞在時間が取れて楽しく写真を撮れました！
行動食(私はほとんど行きで食べました。帰りはお弁当がお腹にあるのであまり取らなかった！)必須、晴れててもこの日の縄文杉付近は風が寒く熱った体には涼しいですが、お弁当中はすごく寒くなってしまうのでレインウェア必須！
速乾性のTシャツ必須！今回の6:00出発はヘッドライトなしで明るくなり大丈夫でした！ガイドさんが言うには丁度いるかいらないかの境目らしい。
水は五箇所以上(川を含め)でペットボトルに入れれるので、水ペット500㎖以上、スポーツドリンク500㎖合計2本ほど持っていけば川の水が気にならなければ、ずっと足して行けます！
私はこの登山中2ℓ以上は飲みました(9月で)。トイレは2ヶ所(ちゃんとした)しかなかったですが、汗で出て行って大丈夫でしたが、縄文杉付近で携帯用トイレを使えるトイレもあります。なので携帯用トイレ1つはあると良いです。
トイレ2ヶ所はトイレットペーパーあります。
軍手もと思ってましたが手を傷つけるような木や岩はあまりなく、素手で行けました(足を滑らせないことが前提で！)
要所で休憩スポット木のベンチや石があり休めました。大雨が降らない限り木と葉っぱで覆われて傘やレジャーシートはいらないかも、でも折りたたみ傘は必須！山の天気は急変します！
トレッキングポール、体力に自信がない人必須ですよー！私はガイドさんの借りていまいました。

書けてないことが色々ありそうですが...
なるべくいらない物は持って行かないようにリュックは軽く行きましょう！

Snorkeling was my first experience, but I received a lecture on how to use the mask and precautions while swimming, which allowed even beginners like me to swim surprisingly well.

There are people who can swim effortlessly from the start and those who cannot, so I personally think it would be nice to have a bit more consideration for that difference.

It seems that you can see sea turtles quite often. On the day I participated, the appearance rate of sea turtles was particularly high, and it became challenging to observe the sea life slowly as I was busy chasing after the turtles. I think you can expect them to be slightly smaller than you might imagine. There were also various fish besides the sea turtles.

After snorkeling, there was time to talk with other participants and the guide, where I was able to share various conversations.

シュノーケリングは初挑戦でしたが、最初にマスクの使い方や泳ぐときの注意点などをレクチャーしてもらい初心者でも意外と泳げました。
最初からすいすい泳げる人とそうでない人はいるので、その差に対する配慮がもう少しだけあるといいなと個人的には思いました。

うみがめは結構な確率で見れるみたいです。
私が参加した日は特にうみがめの出現率が高く、途中からうみがめを追うことが大変でゆっくり海の中を観察とまではいけませんでした。
想像するより少し小さめのうみがめと思っていいと思います。
うみがめ以外にも色んな魚がいました。

シュノーケリング後に他の参加者の方とガイドさんとお話する時間がありそこでいろいろお話することができました。

総じて記憶に残るよい経験になりました。どうもありがとうございました！

I was anxious since everything was new to me, but I think those who, like me, choose this tour based on a gut feeling will be captivated by the charm of Mr. Tawak. Thanks to the safety measures, judgment, and various preparations, even the thunderstorm became a fun memory. Since it was my first day on the island and I participated in the tour, I was able to talk with acquaintances who have visited Yakushima dozens of times, which made my experience on the island even more enjoyable. I want to go back soon, so until then, I will do my best at work! I am eagerly aiming to set off fireworks in Yakushima someday.

何もかもが初めてで不安もありましたが、わたしを含めてビビッと直感でこのツアーを選ぶようなタイプの方は、ゆるくも深い田脇さんの魅力の虜になると思います！安全対策や判断、様々な事前準備のおかげで雷雨も楽しい思い出のひとつになりました。来島後初日のツアー参加だったので、屋久島に数十回は来られているお知り合いの方たちともお話できたことで、その後の屋久島をより楽しめました。またすぐにでも行きたいので、それまでは日々のお仕事を頑張ります！いつか屋久島の花火を上げたいと虎視眈々と狙っております。

It was mid-September in the evening, and the water was not cold, with a beautiful sea where I could see the bottom. I was able to encounter three turtles. The turtles swam slowly, ate seaweed, and took breaths; they were truly adorable. Additionally, there were various brightly colored fish swimming around, and I thoroughly enjoyed the tropical sea. Also, since it was a plan that included photos, I was able to get some wonderful pictures taken. The plan started later in the day, so I think it's perfect as an activity for the day upon arriving at the airport.

9月の中旬の夕方でしたが、水も冷たくなく、底まで見えるきれいな海でカメに3匹も会うことができました。
カメはゆっくり泳いだり、ひたすら海藻を食べたり、息継ぎしたり本当に可愛かったです。
その他にもいろいろな鮮やかな色の魚も泳いでいて、南国の海を満喫できました。
また、写真込のプランだったので、素敵な写真を撮っていただけました。
スタート時間が遅めのプランだったので、空港について当日のアクティビティとして最高だと思います。

I had a great experience on my first mountain climb, challenging myself for 10 hours! It was a wonderful experience, possibly the first and last of its kind in my life! Haha. The guide was also a kind person, which was nice. Thank you!

We left the hotel at 4 AM, and the rain stopped partway, allowing us to see the beautiful stars in the night sky. Arriving at the Arakawa trailhead while it was still dark, we had our breakfast bento and set off before 6 AM. Among the tour participants, I was the oldest. With concerns about my back and knees, I joined the tour prepared to retire if I became a burden.

We proceeded along the long trolley track. The river was clear, and the morning sun was shining down, making it feel wonderful. I was worried about needing a restroom, so I brought a portable toilet, but I didn't end up using it. The guide provided thorough explanations about the restroom situation.

Finally, the steep ascent began. After walking for over two hours, I wondered if my legs could keep up. But I pushed myself to climb, as I had been training for this. After a good climb, the guide said that up to this point was just warm-up, and now the real challenge begins. We were told to push ourselves for three sets of five minutes with breaks in between, and everyone worked hard to keep up. If we could get through this, there would be plenty of sights to see, and the Jomon Sugi awaited us at the finish. We took breaks along the way and finally came face to face with the impressive Jomon Sugi! We admired it from various angles and took many photos.

Due to the guide's decision, we headed straight to Jomon Sugi without having lunch, allowing us to meet it when there were fewer people around. On the way back, we had our bento at a water source and enjoyed warm drinks. The guide took as many photos as we wanted and provided excellent explanations about Jomon Sugi, Yakusugi, and the formation of Yakushima. By the time we returned along the trolley track, it started pouring rain, but that too became a good memory. Thank you for the amazing experience. Thanks to everyone on the tour as well. I would love to visit Yakushima again and participate in another tour.

One thing… I was supposed to receive detailed departure time information the day before, but when it didn't come by night, I contacted them after 8 PM. Even while having dinner at the hotel and after my bath, I waited for the call, but I was informed of the departure time without any apology. That left me feeling disappointed.

朝４時ホテル出発、途中から雨が止んで、夜空の星がキレイに見えました。まだ暗い中、荒川登山口に到着。朝食のお弁当を食べ６時前に出発。ツアーの中では私が最年長。腰と膝に不安を抱えながら、迷惑をかけるようなら、リタイアも覚悟で参加しました。
長く続くトロッコ軌道を進みます。川が済んでいて朝日が降り注ぎとても気持ちがいいです。トイレも不安で携帯トイレを持って行きましたが使いませんでした。ガイドさんがトイレ事情もキチンと説明してくれます。
いよいよ急な上りが始まります。２時間強歩いた後に足が着いていくのか？でも根性で登ります。その為に筋トレを頑張ってきたのですから。いい登りだったなぁと思った後、ガイドさんから、ここまでは準備体操、ここからが本番です。５分×３セット、休みを入れるので５分は頑張って着いてくるよう言われ、皆必死になって頑張りました。ここさえ乗り切れば、後は見所もたくさんありますし、ゴールには縄文杉が待っています。所々で休憩を挟んで、感動の縄文杉にご対面！あらゆる角度から眺め、写真もたくさん撮って頂きました。
ガイドさんの判断で、昼食を取らずに縄文杉まで向かったので、人気が少ない内に縄文杉に会えました。帰りに水場があるところでお弁当を食べ、暖かい飲み物もご馳走になりました。写真を気が済むまで撮って下さり、縄文杉、屋久杉の説明から屋久島の成り立ち等々ガイドの内容も素晴らしかったです。帰りのトロッコ軌道の頃にはどしゃ降りの雨となってしまいましたが、それもいい思い出です。最高の経験をありがとうございました。ツアーの皆さまもありがとうございました。また屋久島に行ってツアーに参加したいです。
一つだけ…前日に詳しい出発時間の連絡が来る事になっていましたが、夜になっても来ないので、20時過ぎにこちらから連絡しました。ホテルでの食事中もお風呂の後も連絡を待っていたのに、詫びる事もなく出発時間を告げられました。それだけは残念な気持ちです。

This time, we were blessed with good weather and were able to fully enjoy Jomon Sugi and Shiratani Unsuikyo. On the first day at Jomon Sugi, we walked over 20 kilometers nonstop. There were many times when I felt like giving up, but looking around, I was able to enjoy the beautiful scenery, the pleasant air, and the delicious water, which made the experience less tiring. This time, we had a slightly larger group of eight people, including the guide, which fostered a sense of camaraderie and made it enjoyable to participate.

On the second day at Shiratani Unsuikyo, we started feeling the fatigue from the first day, but more than anything, I was able to walk while being healed by the scenery. It was a walk along the streams, feeling the love for Yakushima and the charm of old Japan from our guide.

Overall, it was a wonderful place just as I had imagined. I would like to visit again in a different season, and also on a drizzly day.

今回は天候に恵まれ、縄文杉と白谷雲水峡を堪能できました。1日目の縄文杉では20km以上をひたすらに歩きました。何度も心が折れましたが、周りを見れば素敵な風景や気持ちの良い空気や美味しいお水を頂いたりとそこまで疲労感なく過ごせました。今回はガイド含め8人とやや多めなパーティーでしたが、仲間意識も高まり楽しく参加できました。
2日目の白谷雲水峡では、1日目の疲れを感じながらのスタートでしたが、何よりも風景に癒されながら歩けました。ガイドさんから屋久島愛、古き良き日本を感じながらの沢歩きでした。
全体を通しても、思った通りの素敵な場所でした。また季節を変えて、あとシトシト雨の日にも行きたいと思いました。

I have seen sea turtles in Okinawa and Amami, but it was my first time in Yakushima, where they were the most accustomed to people, allowing for a slow observation! They were so cute! ⭐︎ If you come to Yakushima, you definitely want to meet them! (^ ^)

The day before, we visited Jomon Sugi, and our guide made sure to engage us in enjoyable conversations to lift our tired spirits. The moss-covered forest we explored in the afternoon was stunning, especially with the beautiful play of light—it was truly moving. (We also visited the hot springs that appear during low tide at the time you advised us. It felt like it relieved the fatigue in my legs. How wonderful!)

前日　縄文杉に行き　体お疲れモードの私たちを　楽しく　お話も前日から広がるように　いろいろしてくださいました。
午後からの半日でついた　苔むす森は光の加減も素晴らしく　感動ものでした。
（教えていただいた　干潮の時間に干潮時に出てくる温泉にも行きました。足の疲れが取れた気がしました。不思議　！）

I climbed with the guide and two other people. The guide was experienced and knowledgeable about plants, teaching us various things. We also experienced the unique rain of Yakushima, making it a very interesting and valuable tour. Thank you very much.
