The tour package was very good value for money!!! When I booked it I did not know that there would be stops at temples and other sites along the way. I especially liked the 350-year old temple in Lukang. The accommodations at Sun-Moon Lake Hotel were great. Spacious room and very interesting buffet breakfast menu. There was even a free shuttle service that brought us to and from the town for our dinner. The serenity of the lake itself was something to be savored. The tour was everything it was touted to be. The guide, Jack, was very helpful and knowledgeable. From him, I learned a lot about the aborigines from the area. He even found and returned my cell phone the following morning. It must have fallen on the floor of the van. It had all our vacation pictures thus far and it would have been disastrous if I did not get it back..Thank you Jack!!!

The only fly in the ointment was the rickety van that rattled and made funny noises all the way to and from the lake. The shocks also left much to be desired as we must have felt all the bumps along the route. Otherwise, it was a good trip.

This tour was very good value for money. The guide, Jack, was very good and took care of everyone. He even found and returned to me the next day my cell phone that had fallen on the floor of the van. It had all the pictures of our trip and losing it would have been disastrous. . I thought we would be going straight to the hotel on Sun-Moon Lake from Taipei. As it turned out, the tour included stops at very colorful temples. I particularly liked the 350-year old temple in Lukang with its gnarled wood materials. We particularly enjoyed the many insights about Taiwan's aboriginal people whom we found to be very similar to the mountain people on the northern island of Luzon.
The Sun-moon Lake Hotel had very good accommodations and a hearty buffet breakfast the next morning. The room was spacious. clean and quiet even if it looked out on the street. The hotel even had free shuttle service to the and from the town. The Sun-Moon Lake was tranquilly beautiful. The only jarring part of the trip, literally and figuratively was the tour van that rattled a lot and its shocks must have been shot as we felt all the bumps on the road all the way from Taipei to the Lake and back.
