When I saw the lines outside the Vatican Museum I was so pleased I'd booked this tour! Our guide was knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. She allowed us 'freetime' to view the artwork inside the Sistine Chapel. The huge crowds (beg August) meant that we had to keep walking so time to admire the individual treasures was limited. This was one of two tours I took with Dark Rome and I'd certainly use them again.

Chiara was our guide. It was a private tour. There were four of us and she did a great job answering questions and telling us about the Vatican. She definitely knew her stuff. If you can afford it, definitely do a private tour.

Tour well organised and extermely interesting. Guide gave very comprehensive & interesting details of the various areas throughout the site.
Excellent value for money, the only down side was the volume of people we had to contend with throughout the tour.

As far as I was concerned this was 'must do', I have always wanted to see the Sistine Chapel and it did not disappoint. I booked the trip for my birthday so I will always remember it as an extra special day. The guide, Georgia, was excellent and made sure we had all the interesting facts at every section we went through. We are not all religious but it is the history of the place that is interesting. Highly recommended.

We got right in at the planned time. There was no waiting. Our guide, Sabrina, spoke good English and kept the group together and moving well. Only later did we realize how organized and prepared she must be, to keep things moving so smoothly. I was overall very happy with the tour. I would recommend a one-page handout which lists where the tour is going and suggestions on what the group can do upon tour's end, which was in the Basillica.

This was a great tour! Our guide was great and we got to see all the highlights of the Vatican. Of course, it is impossible to see absolutely everything, but we did see everything that was described on the website. Would definitely recommend!

The guide was very informative and could answer any question given to her. She managed to defuse a few situations given to her by 2 akward families. She made the tour very interesting and always had a smile on her face.

Our guide was knowledgeable and made it humorous and very interesting. It was an excellent tour and well worth the money. We didn't take too many pictures as the rooms are so amazing but my small camera couldn't do them justice, but in my memory they are very clear.

Amazing tour, very highly recommended!! Lovely guide, Francesca, extremely knowledgeable, with great use of the radio transmitter and earpiece..saves you having to be close to the guide in the crowds in the Vatican. Absolutely stunning tour, great to skip the massive queue in to the Vatican, and wonderful to hear all the history of all the marvelous sculptures, frescoes, tapestries etc inside. Great value for money!

For us it was one star, if that, but it could be interesting to others. We expected a tour focused on the Vatican and its place in Catholic culture and history. What we got was a tour dominated by statues recovered from Rome plus a few other bits. The guide had plenty of knowledge, but it was delivered without context or relation to the rest of the tour, they were bite-sized data chunks on each item and we left with no sense of story or development of the Vatican. A book or just the labels would have told us almost as much and left us with more flexibility. If your interest is purely in ancient statues and individual pictures you would have got something out of this, but if your interest was wider you would not. We didn't.

We really enjoyed the tour and our guide was great! The only problem is the crowds were awful and we were so rushed. We were also so busy trying to stay with our group in the crowds of people that it was very distracting from the beauty of the Vatican. We were not given any opportunity to do any shopping in the Vatican and if you stayed with the group to see everything you were not allowed back into the Vatican. Very dissappointed in that!

We had a terrible tour guide, her name is Marta (or Martha). She has a strong accent and is hard to understand her English. She doesn't sound knowledgeable and is very boring. After 10 minutes of tour, we couldn't bear any more time with her and switched to another guide from the same company (Paul). He was fine with that and asked us to tell Martha that we were with him. Paul was very professional. Martha stopped the tour to track us down and try to take us back saying that we had to stay with her even if we din't like her. She made a big deal out of nothing. We completely ignored her and followed the other guide. She disrupted quite a bit of out time, and other people were tired of her too. She wasted the team time to call customer service to say that we didn't want to be with her. The whole team had to wait for her childish behavior to be over. I wasted my money on that tour. Martha is not qualified enough to tour guide. She thinks she is funny and makes some comments that we don't get it. We suspected that she tried to make jokes, but her accent was so strong that we had to try to figure out what she was saying. It is bad for the company because they have some great tour guide like Nicola (male).
