We found the eggs of the Japanese tree frog and peeked into the burrows of the land crabs, spending time like elementary school kids coming home from school, which was fun! I love night trekking, so I enjoyed wandering through the forest. It was great when everyone turned off their lights to gaze at the starry sky together. Next time, I want to find the Southern Cross. This time, I was torn between a guided tour and a sightseeing shuttle bus, but choosing the shuttle bus was definitely the right decision. Since my flight from Itami was in the evening, I could only explore until around 2 PM, but if I were to visit again, I would love to spend a full day exploring.

I want to particularly mention that the male tour guide was friendly and engaging, allowing for various conversations, which made for truly enjoyable travel memories. My wife and I are very grateful for that. We also had some photos taken.

The parking area was convenient since it was for the dining spots, so it wasn't crowded. Additionally, the bus was kept available for those who wanted to take a break along the way. I was also very grateful that the restaurant we dined at allowed us to use the restroom before the meeting time for our return (the outdoor restrooms had a long line). The directions to the observation deck, recommended routes, and suggested souvenirs were all explained clearly, making our sightseeing very smooth. If any friends or acquaintances say they want to visit Shirakawa-go, I will definitely recommend this tour!

I expected it, but Saturday was very crowded. About 70% of the tour guests were from China, and the places we visited felt similar. It felt almost like traveling in China. The guide explained in Chinese, Japanese, and English. I couldn't understand the Chinese, but I consider that part of the fun of the tour.

When we took the Beppu Ropeway to the summit, there was still a lot of snow remaining. I might not have been able to go there on my own. The two guides were cheerful, and we had a very enjoyable time. I hope to meet them again somewhere next time, and I would love to participate again. Thank you very much.

During this time of year, the chances of encountering wildlife are low, but I was lucky enough to see two coconut crabs. Unfortunately, the starry sky was obscured and I couldn't see anything. I've heard that summer is a better time for stargazing, so I hope to come back in the summer for a second chance.
