On the third day of our trip to Kyoto, we used this taxi service as a family! It was early June, and the temperature in Kyoto reached 30°C on that day, so it was really great to have this option, especially since we had kids and luggage on our last day!

Kurokawa Onsen is far from the airport, so the main options for transportation are rental cars or buses, but with a sightseeing taxi, you can visit all the main attractions in Aso, such as the Aso volcano crater, Kusasenri, Daikanbo, and Nabegataki, while being taken to your accommodation. This time, we also requested a stop at Shirakawa Onsen next to Kurokawa Onsen.

We were picked up right in front of the airport arrival area, and they helped carry our luggage, making for an easy start. The driver was very talkative and full of service spirit, taking us to various spots not on the route, like Shirakawa Springs and scenic viewpoints. We were able to leisurely explore, and they informed us about limited-edition souvenirs from the crater, which we were able to purchase. 黒川温泉は空港から遠くレンタカーかバスでの移動が主になりますが、観光タクシーを使えば阿蘇山火口、草千里、大観峰、鍋ヶ滝など阿蘇観光のメインを全てまわりながら宿まで送っていただけます。今回は黒川温泉のお隣の白川温泉までお願いしました。
空港到着口前でピックアップ、荷物も運んでくださり楽々スタートです。ドライバーさんはとても話上手で、サービス精神満点の方でルートにない白川水源や絶景箇所などいろいろ回ってくださいました。のんびりあちこち見て回れて、火口限定のお土産のことも教えてもらい購入できました。乗り降りのときの対応もとても丁寧で、写真も上手に撮ってくださり良い記念になりました。昼食も希望に合ったお店に連れて行ってもらいました。

I fully enjoyed Yakushima, visiting Jomon Sugi, Shiratani Unsuikyo, and Taiko Rock, even though I was a bit greedy with my itinerary.

The trek to Jomon Sugi took from just before 6 AM until after 4:30 PM. Although I had no prior mountain climbing experience and I’m over 60, I prepared by hiking at places like Takao Mountain for a year, and I was able to complete the hike. There were 8 people on the tour, and our kind guide showed us around, allowing us to fully appreciate Jomon Sugi, Yakusugi, and the nature of Yakushima.

The next day, we visited Shiratani Unsuikyo and Taiko Rock from around 9 AM to about 2:30 PM. It was shorter and easier than the Jomon Sugi hike, but by the end, my legs were screaming from two consecutive days of walking (laughs). There were 4 people on this tour as well, and our guide was also very kind. Shiratani Unsuikyo was even more beautiful than the photos, and Taiko Rock offered a breathtaking view. I think it would be good to take a day off in between.

ツアーは4名、こちらも親切なガイドさんで、白谷雲水峡は写真以上に綺麗で、太鼓岩は絶景でした。
間に1日休みを入れると良いと思います。

During our trip from Onna Village to the airport, our only destination was American Village, and we left everything else up to the driver. We had interesting experiences everywhere we went. Even during the car ride, the driver explained the places we passed and entertained us with quizzes, making it a fulfilling time for our family of five without any boredom.

Although our sightseeing the day before was quite limited, the driver on that day was a humorous guide, which was a pleasant surprise compared to the quiet driver we had previously.

Unfortunately, the weather was cloudy or rainy both days, which wasn't ideal, but listening to our veteran guide with 17 years of experience while enjoying beautiful scenery made the 1.5 days of trekking over 50,000 steps fly by. (Although the weather wasn't great, the rain actually made the moss vibrant, allowing us to truly experience the charm of Yakushima.)

On the second day’s Shiratani Unsuikyo tour, since there were only my friend and me, the guide kindly adjusted the tour content flexibly. ① Initially, the tour was scheduled to start at 5 AM, but due to the heavy rain the day before, there was a possibility of cancellation. 2日目の白谷雲水峡ツアーは、参加者が私と友人の2人だけということで、ガイドさんのご厚意で、ツアーの内容を柔軟にアレンジしていただきました。①当初は5時にツアー開始予定でしたが、前日の大雨の影響で催行中止の可能性があり、8時の発表まで待ってから白谷雲水峡に行くか、島内観光にするか決めようとご提案いただきました。②催行はできたものの、あいにくのお天気だったので、雨では眺望が良くない太鼓岩までは行かず、苔むす森で折り返し、フライトまでは島内観光するという、アレンジまでしていただきました。お陰で、ランチに念願の首折れサバを食べることでき、大満足でした！
