I initially felt that places like Iriomote might be intimidating, but I found that there was no need to feel pressured or tense; it was easy to experience. And that experience allows you to connect directly with nature. Why not give it a try?
西表など敷居が高いかなとやる前は感じていたところもありましたが、それほど気負う必要も身構える必要もなく、気軽に体験することができました。
そしてその体験は自然そのものに直に触れられるもの。まずはやってみては？

I experienced clear stand-up paddleboarding for the first time. I participated with my college student daughter. Although I was nervous, the staff kindly taught us, which eased my tension and made for a very enjoyable time. At first, I struggled to go in the direction I wanted and had moments of doubt, but the staff encouraged us with various comments and conversations, which helped keep our spirits up. I appreciate the pleasant communication. The stunning scenery elevated my mood and made it a great experience. I would love to come back and enjoy this again when I visit Miyako Island.
初めてクリアsupを体験しました。大学生の娘と2人で参加させていただきました。ドキドキしながらでしたが、スタッフの方が丁寧に教えてくれ緊張がほぐれ、大変楽しい時間となりました。初めはなかなか上手く行きたい方向に進めなかったり、思うようにいかず、大丈夫だろうかと思う場面もありましたが、とにかくスタッフの方がいろいろ声かけいただいたり、違う話をしていただいたりで気持ちを前向きにしてくれました。気持ちのよいコミュニケーションに感謝しています。最高の景色で気分を高めることができいい経験となりました。また宮古島に来た際にはお世話になりたいです。

Naoki's instructions and way of speaking were very easy to understand. It was my first time kayaking, but the guide was very thorough in teaching us, so I had no worries at all. Our valuables were kept in a locked box, and we only brought water and our mobile phones onto the kayak. They took so many great photos that I felt we didn't even need to take our own. They also filmed us with a drone, and the surprise gift at the end was fantastic. The guides were all kind and greeted us with bright smiles throughout, making it a fun memory. Thank you for providing an experience that was worth more than the price!

I had the opportunity to experience pumpkin caves and sea turtle snorkeling with the guide from Soma Sur. Along the way, I learned about the meanings of the flowers blooming on the roadside and the names of the fish swimming in the sea. It was a fun time, not just limited to the activities! I hadn't made any plans before arriving at Iriomote Island, but I was interested in canyoning and was looking for a place that allowed same-day reservations. For now, I signed up for a half-day canyoning session, and since it was my first time, I had a great time. Everyone else was from overseas, but the guide explained everything in both English and Japanese, and all the participants got really into it, making it a lot of fun. As the typhoon approached, I signed up at the last minute, but due to strong winds, we switched to canyoning. Following the reliable Captain Macchan, we made our way through the forest, descending to the river to jump off rocks and slide down like on a slide. It was a fun activity with a sense of unity as we cheered each other on with other groups! We also took lots of photos and videos, creating wonderful memories of Iriomote Island!
In the afternoon, we had a course set for Yufu Island, but unfortunately, it was temporarily closed due to the typhoon. When I consulted with Captain Macchan, he suggested a tour around Iriomote Island. Thanks to him, we were able to explore every corner of Iriomote Island, which turned out to be great! Thank you for your flexible support.

台風接近中で様子を見ながらギリギリで申し込んだところ、風が強くてキャニオニングに変更になりました。
頼もしいまっちゃん隊長に続き森の中を進みながら、川に降りて岩の上から飛び込んだり滑り台みたいに滑ったり。
他のグループの人とも掛け声を掛け合ったりと、一体感があり楽しいアクティビティでした！

午後から由布島もセットのコースでしたが、台風のためなんと臨時休園。

We participated as a couple.
As for the experience, we first gathered and learned how to paddle the canoe. The instructor, who had moved from Osaka, taught us patiently. It seems that capsizing is quite rare. On the day we experienced it, the waves were calm, and we were able to paddle the canoe comfortably without capsizing. It was also great that the instructor took photos during the experience, so we didn't have to bring our smartphones.
Instead of following a set course, we had the experience of freely cruising around the bay. There were two groups of participants for one instructor, so there was no particular worry about being left unattended.
We had a very enjoyable canoeing experience! Next, I want to try SUP!

体験の中身としては、集合して初めに舟の漕ぎ方を習いました。大阪から移住したというインストラクターの方に丁寧に教えていただけました。舟が転覆することは滅多にないそうです。実際に体験した日も波が穏やかで、転覆することもなく気持ちよくカヌーを漕げました。インストラクターの方に体験中の写真を撮ってもらえるため、スマホを持っていかずに済むこともありがたい点でした。
コースに沿って進むというものではなく、自由に湾内を遊覧するという体験でした。1名のインストラクターに対し2組の参加グループだったので、目を離される心配も特にありませんでした。
とても楽しいカヌー体験ができました！次はSUPにも挑戦してみたいです！

However, it was unclear about the age restrictions for SUP when I signed up, so I changed from solo SUP to canoeing at the last minute. The pumpkin cave and sea kayaking were canceled the day before, but I was satisfied with snorkeling in the beautiful beach. I was able to see many tropical fish, including clownfish and blue corals. Our guide, Rintaro, took a lot of photos for us (⌒▽⌒).

Overall, I was quite satisfied. The entrance to the pumpkin-shaped limestone cave is located at the base of the cliffs by the coast, which gives it a mysterious feel. Inside the cave, you can see typical limestone stalactite formations. The space inside the cave is not large, and there aren't many areas to explore, so the visit can be wrapped up quickly. The difficulty level is low and relatively safe, making it suitable for family experiences. However, it is said that this cave will soon be protected and will no longer be open to tourists, which is quite regrettable.
The boat ride is basically just for getting to and from the limestone cave, as it is very close—less than a hundred meters—so the experience is rather average.
The snorkeling experience was excellent, thanks to the water quality in Miyako Island, which has high visibility. We could clearly see corals, fish, and more. Additionally, the staff responsible for our group maintained the record of 100% encounters with sea turtles this year, which made everyone very happy. The snorkeling equipment they lent us seemed to have been used for a long time and wasn't very effective, but the staff had a backup plan and helped us change it during the trip.
We were not allowed to carry mobile phones during the cave exploration, but I did see some people bringing their own photography equipment while snorkeling. The staff would help take photos; although you couldn't see the equipment in the water, it was still a nice keepsake.
One issue we encountered was that we did not receive the promised contact number until 5 PM the day before, so we had to proactively call the staff to inquire about the arrangements. The morning and afternoon activities were at two different locations, requiring us to move ourselves, and there was no place to change clothes, which was quite inconvenient.

划船基本上只是为了往返钟乳石洞窟，由于距离很近不到百米，很快就能划到，体验感就比较一般了。
浮潜的体验十分的好，得益于宫古岛的水质，能见度很高，可以清晰地观看到珊瑚、鱼等等，而且负责我们组的工作人员也延续了今年100%遭遇海龟的记录，大家都很开心。借给我们的肤浅设备应该是用了很久，不是很好用，工作人员也都有预案准备，帮我们途中更换了。
洞窟探险全程不能携带手机，浮潜的时候倒是有看到有人自带了摄影设备。工作人员会帮忙拍照，虽说穿戴设备在海里完全看不出来，但也是很好的纪念。
我们遇到的问题是，前一天直到下午5点都没有收到承诺的联系电话，我们只能主动打电话给工作员询问安排。上午和下午的活动是在两个地点，需要自己移动，而且没有更换衣服的地方，十分的不方便。

I believe that the satisfaction of this type of tour often depends on the quality of the guide.
In this case, the staff worked well together, and our guides, Nagi, Ricky, and Rei, were energetic, kind, and attentive, allowing us to have a very enjoyable day. Thank you to Kaz, who was in training with Ricky.
Safety measures were well thought out, with two guides assigned to each tour, which provided peace of mind. Additionally, there were frequent health checks and reminders to prevent heatstroke, which are very important. I don't think there can be too much emphasis on safety checks.

We participated in a tour that included SUP, Pumpkin Cave, and sea turtle snorkeling with a total of five people, including three elementary school students. The SUP was enjoyable, and even the kids had a great time swaying on the gentle waves.
Unfortunately, we couldn't participate in the Pumpkin Cave due to an accident on the way from the parking lot to the site. During the sea turtle snorkeling, my small third-grade son got tired and clung to a float for the latter half, but our guide, Yuuri, was always kind and considerate, showing great care for everyone, especially the children.
Although we were disappointed not to see any sea turtles, we were able to see many fish, including moray eels, sea snakes, and clownfish, which made it a lot of fun. We even got to touch a sea snake!
Yuuri was the only guide who could make bubble rings, and he captured some great photos for us. After we returned, the kids practiced making bubble rings in the hotel pool for a long time. It became the best memory for our family.

ガイドの中で唯一バブルリングができる方で、いい感じに写真にも残してくれました。
帰った後、子ども達はホテルのプールでずーっとバブルリングの練習をしていました。家族で最高の思い出になりました。

This time, I participated in a plan that included a trip to Yufu Island and a canyoning tour.
We were taken by shuttle to both Yufu Island and the canyoning location, and the guide shared a lot of information about Iriomote Island with us.
On Yufu Island, we rode on a water buffalo cart! Once we arrived, we had some free time, so we could relax and enjoy ourselves.

The first half of the sea turtle snorkeling was quite disappointing as we had to enter from the beach and didn't see any turtles, but the second half, the Pumpkin Cave tour, was an amazing experience in a mystical space that you can't find on a regular trip. There were significant time changes due to the tides, and I thought I might have made a mistake in choosing this tour, but in the end, it was a great success! During the cave tour, our guide, Soma, shared some fun facts about Miyako Island that had us saying "wow" repeatedly. Thank you very much! If I have the opportunity to come back to Miyako Island, I look forward to it!
前半のウミガメシュノーケリングは、まさかのビーチエントリー&ウミガメ見れずでかなりがっかりしてしまいましたが、後半のパンプキン鍾乳洞ツアーの方は普通の旅行では体験できないような神秘的な空間に感動しきりでした。
潮の関係でかなり大幅な時間の変更等もあり、こりゃ選択したツアー失敗かな？と思ってしまいましたが、結果ツアーの選択大成功でした！

Snorkeling was amazing, especially with the selection of the best spots. Our guide was "Abe-chan." He explained everything in both English and Japanese, being very attentive to both foreigners and Japanese people like me. He is the best tour conductor. When I visit again, I will go with "Abe-chan"!

I thought I could enjoy a full day of activities. Swimming with turtles starts at 8 AM and ends at 9:30 AM. The next gathering is at 1 PM. We can move around and have lunch on our own. It might be nice to have lunch together because we can bond while eating with the instructors.
As for the Pumpkin Cave, the instructor didn't provide much care, and I ended up getting hurt. I still have scars. It felt like the staff was just going through the motions. I was worried because the photos took a while to arrive. When they finally did, there were hardly any pictures from the Pumpkin Cave. What a disappointment.
終日のアクティビティで、1日捧げて楽しめると思っていた。
亀と泳ぐのは8時集合9時半解散。次は13時集合て。移動も勝手にして、お昼も勝手にして。ランチあるとこがいいのかも。だってインストラクター交えてみんなで食べながら仲良くなったりするもんね。
パンプキン鍾乳洞も、インストラクターはケアをしてくれずに、痛い目にもあった。キズまだ残ってます。バイトのあんちゃんがテキトウにやってる感じ。写真もなかなか送られて来ずに心配になった。
来たと思ったらパンプキン鍾乳洞、ほとんど写真撮ってないじゃん。あーあ。

I booked the tour hoping to see the sunset in nature, but it turned out to be much more than that. I had the rare experience of paddling through the mangrove-filled river on a stand-up paddleboard for the first time. The time flowed leisurely, and I was able to relax. It was great to feel the love for Iriomote from the guide's explanations, and the photos taken were truly wonderful!
