I was torn between the early morning and the evening, but since summer mornings don't really have sunrise at that time, I decided on the evening when I felt more awake and in better shape. Lighting the burner is noisy and hot, so it's not exactly comfortable, but you can experience a unique feeling of floating twice. If everyone participates, it might be hard to get the important photos, so it might be better for one person to stay behind as the photographer. This was also a valuable experience. The only way to get a panoramic view of the wide Yoshino mountain range covered in cherry blossoms is from the sky. We arrived at the site in no time by helicopter. We were able to enjoy the thousand cherry blossoms while circling the area twice. The explanations during the round trip were also helpful.

Actually, before departure, there was a situation where a disaster response helicopter was dispatched, and we had to wait about 30 minutes before starting. However, it was rather nice to see several crew members board the helicopter and take off, which was a rare sight.

The only advice for the future is regarding transportation from Nara city. The explanation for the heliport states, "It's a 5-minute walk from the nearest bus stop," which leads you to mistakenly think that buses run frequently. In reality, there are only a few buses a day. If you don't go by car or arrange for a rental car, it can be quite inconvenient. Taxis are also hard to book during this season due to the high number of tourists.

唯一、今後のアドバイスとしては、奈良市内からの交通の便の問題があります。ヘリポートの説明には、「最寄りのバス停から歩いて５分」と説明されているので、バスが頻繁に通っているのかと思うと大間違い、なんと、一日数便しか通っていません。マイカーでゆくか、レンタカーを手配してないと、とても不自由があります。タクシーも、この時期は、観光客が多くて、なかなか、予約が取れません。
結論としては、このツアーのオプションとして、送迎の車の手配を準備されることをお勧めします。

On October 8, 2022, my family experienced towing. We signed up for three people: one adult, my 7-year-old eldest daughter, and my 5-year-old second daughter.

At first, my eldest daughter tried it and immediately wanted to do it again. My second daughter, who was initially scared, seemed to enjoy it once she rode with her sister, and eventually, both kids ended up participating. By the end, my second daughter was even riding alone... it seemed like they had a lot of fun!

The instructor was a veteran, providing a reassuring presence by being neither too close nor too distant, while still emphasizing important points. 気になる安全面ですが、私は素人でトーイングがどんなものなのかわからず、参考にならないと思いますが、あ、これなら大丈夫かな、無事故なのも納得と感じられるものでした。安全面で迷って止めるのは惜しいかな、と思います。
最後に、風向きや強さで中止になることもあるそうなので、晴れだからと安心せず、お子様連れの場合は、アクティビティの代替案準備は必須と思いました。うちもギリギリだったようでした。

Lovely pilots, very friendly and professional! Really enjoyed the flight and the views were breathtaking

I highly recommend this experience!

My partner didn't feel comfortable doing the ride due to her fear of heights and seeing how small the basket in reality is, but she also managed to capture some great photos from ground level. So worked out well in the end.

I was also nervous about going up to 500 metres high in the air, but after reaching 150 metres, I started to not be scared and enjoyed the views.

Dynamic Tandem Hangglider Flight with Instructor in Oshino

Amazing experience!

This was my first time hang gliding and definitely won't be my last! I thought I would have a sense of fear before doing this, but didn't feel nervous at all - even when we were up in the air, it felt like we were floating in the sky. I was lucky to have beautiful views of the Autumn colours and trees and a gorgeous view of Mt Fuji. If you are catching public transport, you can catch a bus from Kawaguchiko station to Uchino bus stop - then call Oshino Sky Sports for someone to come pick you up. I was going to do this, but was lucky enough to have awesome hosts that were willing to drive me all the way there.

We had to wait at the take off point as the wind took a long time to change direction (about an hour or so) so you need to be patient. I think this is to be expected while doing any hang gliding course as the wind can be unpredictable. It would have been good to take a bottle of water with me during this time, as it did get quite warm.

When you're finished up, you will get your photos and video emailed to you - I was so happy with them, the quality is great and I could share my adventure with family and friends. Afterwards, one of the instructors was so nice he offered to drop me off at Chureito Pagoda for some sightseeing, as he was heading in that direction as well.

If you choose to do this course, it helps if you can speak a little Japanese. My instructor didn't speak English, but I was able to pick up a few words with his instructions. When you arrive in Japan, ask your host to give Oshino a call and get more details about the time you need to arrive etc. If Oshino have your email or contact number on file, they will try to contact you the day before hand if the weather isn't going to be good for the activity.

I would recommend to take Veltra's proof of payment with you - as Oshino couldn't find my payment from Veltra and I was asked to pay again. I then emailed Veltra and they handled the situation quickly and refunded me my money. :-)
