In the morning, I spent a fulfilling day at Shiratani Unsuikyo, and in the afternoon, I enjoyed river kayaking. Our guide, Mr. Tawai, shared various insights about Yakushima, including the island's flora and fauna, minerals, the forestry practices during the Edo period, and the lives and connections of the current villagers. I was able to gather many interesting stories to share with my friends. Although we were caught in the rain several times, it allowed us to see beautiful scenery, such as vibrant plants and the raging streams in the mountains. I feel that the climate and environment of Yakushima are quite unique compared to other islands I have traveled to. I was truly fortunate to meet such a wonderful guide. Thank you very much.

午前中は白谷雲水峡、午後はリバーカヤックと充実した一日を過ごしました。
ガイドをしてくださった田脇さんからは島の動植物や鉱物の話はもちろんのこと、江戸時代の林業の様子や今の集落の人々の生活やつながりなど、色々な切り口で屋久島のことを教えて頂き、友人への土産話もたくさんできました。
途中何度も雨に降られましたが、そのお陰で見ることのできた景色(生き生きとした植物、山間部の激流等）もたくさんありました。色々な島を旅していますが、屋久島の気候風土はなかなか他にはないものと感じています。素晴らしいガイドさんと巡り会えたことは本当に幸運でした。有難うございました。

We participated as a group of six from three generations: those in their 70s, 40s to 50s, and teenagers. I was almost ready to give up due to the closure caused by the typhoon, but we were able to reach the long-desired mossy forest via a detour, and I am overwhelmed with emotion. The detour was quite challenging for those in their 70s, but we managed to get through it thanks to the pace set for us and the enjoyable talk from our guide. Thank you very much.

Most of the customers were from China. The guide was fluent in Chinese, Japanese, and English, providing information in all three languages. It was also a great opportunity for language learning.

The free time was just right, allowing us to stroll leisurely from Taisho Pond to Kappa Bridge and take our time exploring the souvenir shops.

The air and water were clean, making for a day of healing in nature.

Since I’m over 60, I walked for two weeks (about 20,000 steps a day) before climbing, but I was completely fine. It was October 31, and it was hot while climbing, so the occasional rain felt refreshing.

I am a woman in my late 20s with no prior experience in sports. Since this was almost my first time hiking, I wanted to go at my own pace, so I signed up for this private tour with rental equipment. As a result, I was extremely satisfied!

Although my feet hurt a little, I surprisingly reached the goal with some ease! I think it was thanks to the guide's pacing and encouragement. During our casual conversations, the guide also quizzed us about Yakushima, which was a lot of fun.

Of course, the Jomon Sugi was amazing, but the nature along the way was truly wonderful. I want to go again.

◯ Reference: About the equipment
I participated at the end of October, and perhaps because there was little rain, a long-sleeve shirt and occasionally a raincoat were just right for the weather. I think those who get cold easily should bring an extra jacket for comfort.
I brought thicker trekking socks, which I believe helped reduce foot fatigue. (As a beginner with no knowledge, I was planning to wear regular socks, but I was helped by the reviews on this site!)

・10月末に参加しましたが、雨が少なかったためか長袖1枚＋時折レインコートで丁度良い気候でした。寒がりな方は上着もある方が安心だとは思います。
・トレッキング用の分厚めの靴下を用意していきました。足の疲れ軽減に良かったと思います。(初心者で知識が無かったため普通の靴下で行こうと思っていたのですが、こちらのサイトの口コミに助けられました！)

Out of the total 22 kilometers, 17 kilometers are on a gentle slope along a trolley path, and the actual mountain climbing is only 5 kilometers round trip. Personally, I found it less strenuous than I expected, but if you're not used to the mountains, the steep ascent of nearly 700 meters in elevation will definitely challenge you. I enjoyed the tour thanks to the experienced support and guidance of the guide. It's a very good tour.

I think many people might hesitate at the thought of a 10-hour walking tour, but it's a natural heritage that you should see at least once in your lifetime. You can rent full gear, but I recommend bringing your own trekking shoes. It would be best to prepare by hiking on lower mountains beforehand to get your legs accustomed. Also, I happened to have good weather on the day I went, but on days other than the Jomon Sugi tour, it rained all day, which is typical for Yakushima. Be prepared for the possibility of rain during your attempt.

全行程22キロのうち、17キロはゆるい坂のトロッコ道で、本格登山は往復5キロのみ。

雨天でのトライも覚悟した方が良いでしょう。

Since I was going, I thought it would be great to have a guide and receive explanations at our own pace, so I made a reservation. The guide was Mr. Muroi. There were detailed announcements about preparations the day before, which made me feel secure about participating.

The weather on the day was rain to heavy rain. I was a bit anxious since it was my first time trekking in heavy rain, but I received advice on how to act safely, which was very reassuring. The pace was adjusted to ensure it was comfortable for us, and I was able to enjoy the fun of trekking in the rain.

Along the way, we received detailed explanations about the wonderful nature of Yakushima, including the Yakusugi trees, and I also enjoyed the personal stories shared. The 8 hour and 45 minute journey felt like it flew by, and it was a rich and fulfilling trekking experience that became a great memory.

I was hesitant to take out my phone to take pictures in the heavy rain, but Mr. Muroi took many photos and videos for us, and I was able to receive the data later, which was very helpful. Moreover, his photography skills were excellent, which made me very happy. Thank you very much.

せっかく行くなら、ガイドさんをつけて自分達のペースで色々と説明を受けながら行こうと思い予約。

前日より事前準備など細かくアナウンスがあり、安心して参加できました。
当日の天気は雨～大雨。
大雨の中のトレッキングは初めてだったのでやや不安はありましたが、安全に行動できるようなアドバイスをいただけたのでとても心強かったです。ペースも私たちに無理のないように組んでくださり、雨の中のトレッキングの楽しさも感じることができました。
道中、屋久杉をはじめとして、屋久島の素晴らしい自然などの説明も細かくしていただけ、また、プライベートのお話もとても楽しかったです。8時間45分の行程があっという間に感じるほど、内容の濃い、とても充実したトレッキングとなり大変良い思い出になりました。
大雨の中、携帯を出して写真撮影をするのが億劫になっていたのですが…室井さんが写真や動画を沢山撮ってくださり、後でデータを転送で頂けたのでとても助かりました。さらに、撮影のセンスがとても良いので、それもとても嬉しかったです。ありがとうございました。
翌日の「白谷雲水峡・太鼓岩」は雨の為、残念ながら行けなかったので、またいつかリベンジに屋久島へ伺います。その時はまた室井さんにガイドをお願いしようと思います。

The forecast was 80% rain, and I was unsure whether to postpone until the day before. I waited for the bus in front of the hotel wearing rain gear and holding an umbrella. It rained on and off all day, with heavy downpours at times. I participated with three friends (in our 50s). Before joining, I felt a bit anxious even after watching the guide video on the day of the event (like what if we encounter a bear, or if I can walk until the end?). However, once we started walking, that anxiety quickly turned into excitement.

We were blessed with great weather and walked refreshingly, and the lake was calm, so the reflected scenery on the water's surface was stunning. I truly think that if you visit here, you should see the Shiretoko Five Lakes. And definitely do it with a guide! They show you wonderful views that you wouldn't notice on your own, along with explanations.

One of my friends had been to Shiretoko before, but they were once again moved by how amazing this place is! Next time, I want to see it during the autumn foliage season.

The tour guide was very attentive. There was a participant who only understood English, but this tour guide had excellent English skills and explained the content almost exactly the same after providing the explanation in Japanese. For lunch, we had a sashimi set meal, and the freshness and portion size of the sashimi were great, plus it came with grilled fish, which I thought was something you wouldn't easily find outside. According to the tour guide, the restaurant initially declined due to a lack of staff, but they reached an agreement because the tour guide offered to help with serving. After we started hiking at Daishi Forest Park, a localized heavy downpour began, and access was temporarily suspended after we entered the mountain. I walked through the intense rain, and the water flowing down the mountain was incredible; to be honest, it was a bit scary. But on the flip side, I think it turned into a good experience. I recommend participating with sturdy shoes. I brought not only an umbrella but also a poncho, which helped keep my daypack dry.

添乗員の気配りが良かったです。参加者の中に英語しかわからない方がいましたが、この添乗員さんは英語力も素晴らしく、日本語で説明をした後、それをダイジェストではなく、ほぼ同じ内容でその方に説明をしていました。途中の昼食は、刺身定食でしたが、刺身の新鮮さとボリュームがよく、またそれに焼き魚もつき、なかなか外では食べられないと思いました。添乗員さんによると、最初このお店は人手が足りないので断られたそうですが、添乗員さんが配膳などを手伝うということで契約に至ったそうです。大石林山に行ってハイキングが始まった後で、局地的な集中豪雨が始まり、私たちが山に入った後、立ち入りが一時中止になったということです。私は凄まじい豪雨の中を歩きましたが、山から滝のように流れる雨が凄まじく、正直ちょっと怖い思いもしました。でも逆に言うと良い体験にもなったと思います。しっかりした靴で参加することをお勧めいたします。傘だけではなく、ポンチョなども持っていったので、デイバックが濡れずに助かりました。

I participated in a full-day tour of northern Okinawa, which I rarely have the opportunity to visit since I don't drive.

Although a typhoon was approaching, we were fortunate to have good weather during the tour, allowing us to enjoy sightseeing at Cape Hedo and the Daichi Forest. The untouched nature of Yanbaru National Park in the north was magnificent.

The protection facility for the Okinawa rail, "Kuta-kun," was friendly and even came close to the glass when I pointed my camera at him.

I had a sashimi set for lunch, and although I haven't had many opportunities to eat sashimi in Okinawa, it was delicious enough.

There were few Japanese participants; most were from other Asian countries, with a few from Europe and the U.S. However, the guide was fluent in both Japanese and English, so I had no trouble at all.

自分は車を運転しないので、なかなか行く機会に恵まれない沖縄北部を巡る終日ツアーという事で参加しました。

台風が接近中であったものの幸いにもツアー中は天候にも恵まれ辺戸岬や大石林山も楽しく観光する事ができました。北部のやんばる国立公園の殆ど手つかずの大自然は雄大でした。

ヤンバルクイナの保護施設の「くーた君」も人懐っこく、カメラを向けるとわざわざガラス越しではありますが寄って来てくれました。

We were blessed with great weather and had a wonderful time sightseeing in the Yanbaru area. For lunch, we enjoyed a seafood set meal with sashimi, featuring fish caught that very day, which we could savor without any waiting time. At Cape Hedo, we could clearly see Yoron Island and Okinoerabu Island with our own eyes. At the Oishi Forest Park, we admired the unique rock formations created by erosion. Above all, I think the highlight of this tour was being able to see the long-awaited "Yanbaru Kuina" with my own eyes. I highly recommend this experience to everyone. Even though it was the end of October, the temperature exceeded 30 degrees, but we had so much fun that we forgot about the heat.

I participated in a tour this time because it's not easy to visit the northern attractions alone. It included the power spot at Daishi Forest, which I've wanted to visit for years, as well as the cute Okinawa Rail and Cape Hedo—it's the perfect itinerary for me.

Daishi Forest was indeed wonderful. There are three different routes, but I couldn't see everything I wanted to, yet I managed to explore two of the courses. The experience was incredibly impressive.

I thought there would be many Okinawa Rails, but I only saw one. It was cute, though. Overall, it was a satisfying day.

北部観光はなかなか一人ではいけないので、今回ツアーに参加しました。何年か前から行ってみたかった大石林山のパワースポットや可愛いヤンバルクイナ、辺戸岬が入っているわたしには最高の工程です。まずは、国立公園へ、道の駅でもお土産がたくさんありました。レモンケーキ美味しかった。その後はランチして辺戸岬へ、景色も綺麗で美味しい海鮮もいただきました。
大石林山は、やっぱり素敵でした。ルートが3他に分かれているのですが、見たいとこだけみることはできずそれでも2コース回ってきました。大迫力で最高です。
ヤンバルクイナは、たくさんいるのかなって思いきや、1羽。でも可愛かったです。

The pace was moderate, but I wished I had a little more time to leisurely enjoy the scenery. However, considering the limited return time and the need to manage breaks, it was understandable. At Jomon Sugi, we had some free time of about 40 minutes, during which I was able to fully enjoy the Jomon Sugi, which was my main goal.

During the descent, there were tough moments, such as heavy rain on the endlessly long trolley path, but it was my first opportunity to walk in such nature, and it was a very good experience. 下山では、永遠続くトロッコ道で土砂降りになるなど厳しい時もありましたが、このような自然の中を歩く機会は初めてでとても良い体験をすることができました。
ツアーとしても、送迎、お弁当の手配などスムースに段取りされていて、歩行中も安全第一で配慮していただき安心して参加できました。

Many of the hiking trails are well-maintained, but since it's a 22-kilometer round trip, those who are not confident in their physical strength might consider going only to Wilson Stump instead of Jomon Sugi. I was healed by the breathtaking views. I want to visit again!

I was able to participate without any anxiety thanks to the polite response to my inquiries beforehand.

In the morning, we went trekking at Shiretoko Five Lakes. I was a bit worried since there had been a high frequency of bear sightings until the day before, but it ended safely.

Listening to the guide's explanations while exploring was enjoyable, as we learned about points we might have overlooked and the guide's personal favorite spots. We discussed various topics such as plants, animals, and history. The three-hour walk was not tiring at all.

The weather was also excellent, providing us with stunning views.

Next, we continued with the primeval forest trekking. Again, we listened to the same guide's stories while relaxing on pine needles along the way, heading towards the first cliff. The magnificent natural scenery was breathtaking. Then we ventured back into the forest. We encountered a deer that suddenly ran away, which made us tense, thinking it might be a bear! However, the calm response from our guide ensured everything ended well.

This trek also lasted about three hours, and I was never bored until the end; in fact, I felt it could have gone on longer.

Overall, while animal encounters were fewer than expected, it was a great plan that made me want to come back with a guide again. If you're unsure, I highly recommend experiencing it!

やはりガイドさんの解説を聞きながら巡るのは、見落としそうなポイントやガイドさんの個人的な萌ポイントの話など楽しめました。植物動物歴史などいろんな話をしていていただけます。3時間の歩きも苦になりません。
また天気もすこぶる良く、最高の景色でした。
続いて、原生林トレッキング。
こちらも同ガイドさんの話をお聞きしながら、途中松葉でリラックスしたりしながら、最初の断崖へ。
自然の雄大な景色が望めます。そしてまた森の中へ。一度警戒体制で逃げていく鹿に遭遇。熊か！？と緊張が走りましたが落ち着いたガイドさんの対応で無事終了。
こちらも3時間ほどですが全く飽きることなく終了時間。なんなら物足りないくらいでした。

総じて動物の遭遇は少なめでしたが、またガイド付きで来たいと思わせてくれる良いプランでした。

I participated with a friend. Our guide, Mr. Umebayashi, came to pick us up on time and took us to see the salmon catch and their upstream journey, which wasn't part of the original plan. He showed us great spots to view and provided helpful explanations.

The weather was cloudy, so we couldn't see the top of Rausu-dake, but we were able to complete a full loop around Shiretoko Goko in the morning without encountering any bears. We took photos at each lake (which turned out great!) and that was really helpful. Along the way, we saw bear scratch marks and he used binoculars to show us birds, explaining which ones they were with an illustration guide.

We also saw swans, which are rare, and the guide took some photos as well! That was wonderful. For lunch, he recommended a restaurant near the roadside station, and afterward, we went to see the salmon upstream.

In the afternoon, we went trekking at a leisurely pace, observing birds and plants with explanations, and the time flew by. There were no steep slopes, making it easy to walk. There were some muddy spots, but trekking shoes handled it well.

On the way back, we could see the top of Rausu-dake and he guided us to a beautiful spot to watch the sunset, which was perfect. We even saw a bear trying to catch salmon from the bridge in the car on the way back (the bear kept failing, looking like "Huh?"). It was a great tour!

天気は雲で羅臼岳の頂上見えなかったんですが、午前中の知床五湖は熊に遭遇せず無事に一周できました。ぞれの湖で写真を撮って頂き（それがまた上手で！）助かりました。途中熊の引掻き後や、双眼鏡で鳥を見てイラストの一覧でこの鳥ですよ～と教えて頂きました。
白鳥も見れました。滅多に見れないみたいでガイドさんも写真とってみえました！よかったです。
お昼は道の駅の辺りのお店を紹介して頂き、その後鮭の遡上に連れて行ってもらいました。
お昼からトレッキングでゆっくりとしたペースで鳥を見たり、植物を見たり説明もありあっという間でした。急斜面もなく歩きやすかったです。足元もところどころぬかるみがありましたがトレッキングシューズで大丈夫でした。
帰りに羅臼岳の頂上も見え、キレイな夕日の見えるところに案内して下さり夕日までバッチリ見えました。
帰りの橋の上の車の中から川で鮭を取ろうとする熊も見れ（熊は鮭取ろうとして「あれっ？」って感じの失敗ばっかりでしたけど…）いいツアーでした！

After a break at PA, we arrived in about 3 hours and 30 minutes. The drop-off location was either Taisho Pond or the bus center → the Myojin Pond route is from the latter.

There was plenty of free time, and even with a 2-hour course, there was enough time to spare. I thought it would be nice to eat a bento along the way or immerse myself in taking photos at Myojin Pond.

The return trip also took about 3 hours and 30 minutes. We arrived in Nagoya before 6 PM, which made it feel easier.

It was my first summer visit to Shiretoko, and I was able to learn a lot about nature and wildlife (especially bears) through the detailed explanations about why certain trees look the way they do and what the meaning of their scars is. It was a wonderful experience to participate in a tour that was more than just walking, and it became a fantastic memory.

There were times when the hiking trail to Jomon Sugi was closed due to the typhoon's impact, and I was really anxious about whether I could actually go, but thanks to the local people's recovery efforts, I was able to go safely. I'm grateful for that. I was wondering if I could handle the 10-hour journey, but thanks to the tour guide's pacing and the way we lined up, I was able to finish without causing any inconvenience to others. I received advice on how to take photos and was shown great photo spots, which allowed me to create many wonderful memories. I still look back at the photos. I felt the tour guide's commitment to taking care of the mountain as they picked up lost items while descending. I hope to visit Yakushima again someday.

台風の影響で縄文杉の登山道が閉鎖されていた時期もあったり天気が心配だったりで本当に行けるのかドキドキでしたが現地の皆さまの復旧作業のおかげで無事行くことができました。感謝です。10時間の行程大丈夫かな？と思っていましたが添乗員の方のペース配分や列の並びのおかげで他の方に迷惑かけることもなく終えることができました。写真の撮り方のアドバイスや写真ポイントなども教えて頂き楽しい思い出がたくさんできました。今でも写真を見返しています。添乗員の方は登山中に落ちている忘れ物などを片付けながら下山していて山を大切にし守る気持ちを感じました。また屋久島に行けたらいいなと思っています。

　混載ツアーのため他グループの行動が重なり、混雑ポイントが複数生じるにも関わらず、時間内に下山する必要があります。余裕がないため、説明がカットされるという点が残念でしたが、そういった状況下で素人を複数連れて無理なく往復するのは困難なのでしょう。
体力と登山経験がある方や、じっくりと説明を受けたい方にはプライベートツアーの方が良いと思います。
　とはいえ、雨に遭遇することもなく、立派な縄文杉も見れ、満たされた気分で帰宿することができました。
