During the trekking, I experienced all kinds of weather (including a thunderstorm!) and was able to meet Jomon Sugi safely. The size is overwhelming in a way that photos and videos can't convey! Although my body was exhausted, it was a day filled with an indescribable sense of fulfillment. I had a wonderful trekking experience, bonding with the guide and the other participants while supporting each other. The guide's explanations at key points added even more satisfaction to the trek. I was grateful for the shuttle service to the accommodation and the direct bus to the trailhead!

トレッキング中、すべての天気を体験しながら（雷のどしゃぶりまで！）無事に縄文杉に会うことが出来ました☆写真や映像では分からない体験的に感じる大きさ！に圧倒されながら、身体はしんどかったけれども何とも言えぬ充実感で一杯の一日でした。ガイドさんもご一緒したツアーの皆様とも仲良く労り合いながら素敵なトレッキングが出来ました。ガイドさんの要所要所の説明はトレッキングに更なる満足感を与えてくれます。宿までの送迎と登山口までそのままのバスで行けるのはありがたかったです！

To celebrate our 60th birthdays as a couple, we participated in a trekking tour to Jomon Sugi. We wanted to walk at our own pace, so we requested a private guide. Our guide, Iwakawa, was very knowledgeable and kept us entertained with his frequent dad jokes, making the 12-hour round trip (with breaks, of course) enjoyable. Thank you very much! Fortunately, the weather was clear the entire way, and both Jomon Sugi and the other Yakusugi trees we saw along the way were magnificent, making it a memorable experience.

夫婦同じ歳での還暦を記念して、縄文杉トレッキングに参加しました。
自分たちのペースで歩きたくて貸切のガイドさんを依頼。ガイドの岩川さんは知識が豊富で、頻繁に出るオヤジギャグに癒されながら、楽しく往復12時間（もちろん休憩しながらですが）を歩き切りました。ありがとうございました！
幸運にも道中ずっと快晴で、縄文杉も途中で見た屋久杉やその他の木々も素晴らしく、思い出に残る体験となりました。

This was my first time in the Eastern Hokkaido region, and with almost zero prior knowledge about Shiretoko Goko, I decided to visit all five lakes. I joined a walking tour led by Ayano-san, which I was able to book the day before, starting at 3 PM.

I happened to be the only participant, so I enjoyed a one-on-one experience with Ayano-san, asking her various questions about Shiretoko Goko and her work as a guide while leisurely taking in the scenery. Ayano-san, a veteran guide, had a natural demeanor, and her love for Shiretoko was evident.

The day was clear and hot, with a maximum temperature of over 26 degrees Celsius, but once the tour began and we started walking through the forest, we were mostly shielded from direct sunlight, making it cool and comfortable. The lakes were, of course, beautiful, but I also vividly remember the reflections of the mountains on the lake's surface and the way sunlight sparkled through the trees in the forest.

Although I didn't see any bears, at the end of the tour, I was able to observe a mother deer and her fawn from above on the elevated wooden path for quite a long time.

The three hours flew by. Thank you very much.

初めての道東、知床五湖についての予備知識もほぼゼロのまませっかくなら五湖すべて訪れたいと思い、前日に予約できた15時スタートの綾野さんのウォーキングツアーに参加しました。

参加者はたまたま私一人。綾野さんにマンツーマンで知床五湖やガイドのお仕事のことなど色々聞きながらゆっくりと景色を楽しめました。ベテランガイドの綾野さんは自然体で、知床愛が伝わってきました。

当日は快晴で最高気温26度以上の暑い日でしたが、いざツアーが始まって森の中を進み始めるとほとんど直射日光が当たらず、涼しくて快適でした。
湖ももちろんきれいでしたが、湖面に反射された山々の姿、森の木々や太陽の光が森の中に射し込んできらきらしている様子も記憶に残りました。

熊を見かけることはなかったもののツアーの最後に高架木道で真上から鹿の親子を長い時間見ることができました。

3時間、本当にあっという間でした。ありがとうございました。

It was a tour that took us around several places in the northern region by bus. You can optionally listen to explanations through earphones while on the bus. I was unsure about what to wear before participating, but since we only walked a little in the Oishi Forest, casual clothing is perfectly fine without worrying about hiking gear.
There were many participants who came alone, and the ages varied.

Additionally, there was no closure of the walking paths due to bear sightings, so I was able to walk the entire loop of the Shiretoko Five Lakes. The experience of walking through the magnificent forests of Shiretoko is exceptional. While walking, I took occasional breaks to learn about bears, birds, and Ezo deer, as well as various plants. It was a fruitful time, not only enjoying the beautiful scenery but also observing bear droppings and claw marks, and spotting ducks and Ezo deer in the distance.

Thanks to the guide's witty talk and pacing, we were able to fully enjoy the mystical world of moss and ancient trees, the breathtaking views of Taiko-dani, the thrill of crossing streams, and the natural beauty of Yakushima. The return trip to Bougyou-sugi was tougher than I expected, but I was able to experience the atmosphere of the primeval forest even more, and I was very satisfied. I didn't feel tired at all on the way to Jomon Sugi, but I was very tired on the way back. However, Mr. Ando kept the conversation going without interruption, which made it easier to walk. The weather forecast predicted rain. When I arrived at the trailhead, there was a rainbow! The sun also peeked through. It rained for about two hours on the way back. I was anxious about participating alone, but everyone in the same group was also participating solo, which made it fun. As we walked, we learned various things from the guide about Yakushima and the Yakusugi trees, which made the experience even more enjoyable. It was a three-hour tour, but we moved slowly while listening to the guide's explanations, so it felt like no time at all!
We explored the mysterious lake, enjoying the chirping of birds, the blue sky, the greenery of the trees, and the tranquility of the lake… it was such a wonderful time. There were traces of brown bears everywhere, and I was reminded that this is indeed their habitat.
They also lend you binoculars, so you can see the distant mountains, waterfowl on the opposite shore, and flowers. I highly recommend it!!

３時間という行程ですが、ガイドさんの説明を聞きながらゆっくりと進むので、あっという間でした！
神秘の湖を巡り、鳥のさえずり、青空と木々の緑と湖面の静けさ…とても素敵な時間です。いたる所にヒグマの痕跡もあり、ここはヒグマの生息地なんだと改めて実感。
双眼鏡も貸していただけるので、遠くの山々や対岸の水鳥や花々も見ることが出来ます。ぜひ、おすすめです！！

Waking up at 3 AM, the long trek on the cart path, the tough mountain climbing, and finally seeing the size of Jomon Sugi was truly moving. Even though it was beyond the fence, I was overwhelmed by its presence, having lived there since ancient times. All my fatigue disappeared, and I was just so glad to have come.

We were part of a group of about eight people, including a veteran guide full of love for Yakushima and a newcomer who had moved to Yakushima. At first, the walking pace felt a bit fast, but considering the long journey and the frequent breaks, the time management was excellent.

The guide's stories about Yakushima's nature and history were very interesting.

朝３時起き、長いトロッコ道、キツイ山登り、その先に会えた縄文杉の大きさに感動でした。柵の向こうだけど、太古の昔からそこに生き続けている存在感には圧倒されました。疲れも吹っ飛び、ただただ、来れて良かった。
屋久島愛に溢れたベテランガイドさんと屋久島に移住した新人ガイドさんと参加者の人達８人くらい？のグループでした。最初は歩くペースが早い気もしましたが道のり長いし、休憩もこまめに取るためで、時間配布としては申し分なかったです。
