We participated as a couple in our 70s and 60s. The hiking trail, filled with rocks and tree roots, was quite exhausting. We were out of breath going up and had to stop frequently, and going down, our legs wouldn't cooperate, causing us to trip often. Without the guide's help, I think we would have had to retire partway through. The forest of Yakushima is truly wonderful, and it can only be felt by walking through it yourself. I wish I had gone when I was younger and had more stamina, but thanks to the private guided tour we arranged this time, we were able to make it back and forth to Taiko Rock safely. Thank you for accommodating our many requests.
70と60の夫婦で参加しました。岩と石、木の根っこがはびこる登山道はかなり疲れました。上りは息があがり立ち止まってばかり、下りは足が思うように上がらず躓いてばかり。ガイドさんの助けがなかったら途中でリタイアしていたと思います。屋久島の森は本当に素晴らしく、それは自分で歩いてこそ感じられるものでした。もっと体力のある若い時に行っておけばよかったと思いながら、今回、貸切ガイドツアーをお願いしたおかげで無事に太鼓岩まで往復できました。たくさん我が儘も聞いていただきありがとうございました。

I went by canoe to the foot of the mountain and trekked to Pinai Sara Falls. Since it had rained the day before, the water flow of the falls was great, and it was sunny on the day of our visit, so we were able to see a rainbow. Our guide, Eri, explained the plants and creatures we could see in the mountains and taught us many other things, which made it very enjoyable. The lunch was delicious and made me happy! We participated in a long-awaited trekking trip to Yakushima with two couples (in our 50s and 60s). I was particularly anxious as I’m not athletic and it was my first trekking experience, so we opted for a private tour to avoid inconveniencing others. This turned out to be a great decision. Thanks to the wonderful support from Mr. Fujiyama, a local expert on Yakushima, we successfully reached Taiko Rock. He patiently taught us the basics, such as how to use trekking poles and proper walking techniques. When we started to feel tired, he quickly noticed and took regular breaks. He also shared interesting information about Yakushima's history, the Yakusugi trees, moss, and various plants, which was refreshing. Encouraged by him, we pushed on and finally arrived at Taiko Rock, where we were blown away by the breathtaking panoramic view. All our fatigue vanished in an instant. We were able to reach our destination thanks to Mr. Fujiyama's excellent pacing. He also took many photos with the best spots as the backdrop, showcasing his award-winning skills from the Yakushima photo contest. Each photo beautifully captured the mystical scenery, creating precious memories for our group. I would love to request Mr. Fujiyama again for the Jomon Sugi tour next time. Thank you very much for all your help!
念願の屋久島トレッキングに友人夫婦と私達夫婦4人（50代60代）で参加。特に私は運動音痴で初めてのトレッキングで不安が一杯で、他の方の迷惑になってはと貸切にしました。これが大正解。案内して頂いた屋久島を知り尽くした地元ご出身の藤山さんの見事なサポートのおかげで無事太鼓岩まで行くことができました。ストックの使い方、歩き方など基本的なことを丁寧に教えて下さり、また、疲れが出てきた時は、すぐに察してこまめに休憩をとって下さり、屋久島の歴史、屋久杉、苔、草花のことなどわかりやすく教えてくださり、リフレッシュできました。そして、さああともう少しと励まして頂き、太鼓岩に到着し大パロラマの壮大な景色に大感動。疲れも一瞬で吹き飛びました。無事到着できたのも藤山さんの絶妙なペース配分のおかげです。また、ベストスポットを背景に写真も沢山撮って下さり、さすが屋久島写真コンテストで受賞された腕前で、一枚一枚神秘的な景色をバックにとっても上手に撮れていて、グループの大切な記念の写真となりました。次も藤山さんにお願いして縄文杉ツアーに是非挑戦したいです。大変お世話になり本当にありがとうございました。

We toured the island in a counterclockwise direction with a dedicated guide driving us. The guide's explanations were accurate and fascinating, and we could change our destinations based on our preferences. We visited the tea fields in Yakushima, which is geographically the first place to ship "new tea," and also stopped by the Morikyu Shrine, where the fallen Heike warriors are enshrined. We saw the couple Aokou trees, whose roots are intertwined, and visited the Yakushima Lighthouse, which is inaccessible by bus. We also enjoyed the Hirauchi Seacoast Onsen, where bathing is allowed without underwear, as it springs from the sea. I was very satisfied with the experience.

It seems that the tour content has been renewed. For me, it was my first time in northern Okinawa. The weather was slightly rainy. I was a bit anxious about walking in the forest, but it turned out to be more enjoyable than I had imagined!
We were picked up at 7:30 AM in front of the prefectural office and took a bus for about two hours to our first destination. The seating arrangement on the bus was spacious, and I felt that there was consideration for COVID-19 measures.
I believe the biggest attraction of this tour is the Daisekirinzan. We were given an hour and a half for free exploration, which was really fulfilling. Of course, walking in nature can be challenging due to roots and muddy areas. A distance of 1 km that could be walked in 15 minutes on flat ground took twice as long, as per the guide's advice. However, during the free exploration time, the guide provided markers at key points, giving us time estimates and knowledge, which allowed us to proceed with confidence.
And the scenery was beautiful. The light filtering through the trees, glimpses of the coastline, and distant islands created a sense of liberation that made me want to stretch up high.
As for the return trip, it depends on traffic conditions, but I think it's good to plan for around 6:30 PM. It was a day filled with wonderful memories.

森歩きに不安はありましたが、想像以上に楽しかったです！
朝7時半の県庁前からのピックアップでバスに乗り、
約2時間で最初の目的地までの道のり...
バスの中は、十分に余裕を持った席配置で、
コロナ対策への配慮がされていると感じました。
このツアーの一番の魅力は、大石林山だと思います。
今回、自由散策1時間半の時間をとってもらって、すごく満喫できました。
もちろん、自然の中を歩くので、根っこやぬかるみなど、歩きにくい。
平地なら15分で歩ける1Kmが、添乗員さんのアドバイス通り、倍の時間が掛かります。でも、自由散策時間でも、添乗員さんがポイントポイントで道標してくださって、時間の目安や知識を教えてくれたので、安心して行程を進むことができました。
そして、目に映る景色、光景が美しいこと。
木々の間から差し込む光や、垣間見える海岸、遠くに見える島など、思わず背伸びしてしまう解放感がここにありました。
帰りは渋滞具合によりますが、18:30くらいを目安に予定を立てれば良いと思います。
楽しい思い出ができた一日でした。

We were blessed with the best weather, making it truly an unforgettable and wonderful memory! The instructor was just the right distance in his approach, knowledgeable, and bright, making it a fun experience.
By chance, we were slightly out of sync with the other tour guests, allowing us to enjoy the river and beautiful scenery all to ourselves.
The scenery and air are simply the best. I felt that trekking in the peak of summer would be tough, so I’m glad I could experience it in this season!

Unfortunately, the weather was not great. I couldn't see all the scenery I was supposed to, but I'm glad I participated in the only tour in the northern region. The participants were all different, but I think the guide's personality made it a fun tour. I also appreciated their flexibility in accommodating us.
As for souvenirs, most of them seemed better to eat on the spot, so it felt like I was constantly eating. But they were delicious, and thanks to that, I felt satisfied even with the poor scenery. The lunch was also tasty.
I can drive, but since the northern area is a bit far, I decided to join the tour, and I have no regrets. The regular price might be a bit high compared to other tours. If it's around ¥7000 to ¥8000, I would consider joining again.
あいにくの天気。全て見られるはずの景色は見られませんでしたが、北部唯一のツアー、参加して良かったです。参加者が変わった方ばかりでしたが..ガイドさんの人柄で楽しいツアーになったと思います。柔軟に対応しようしてたところもよかったです。
おみやげはどれもその場で食べた方がいい感じのものばかりだったので、ずーっと食べてる感じでした。でも美味しかったし、そのおかげで景色が悪くても満足感がありました。昼も美味しかった。
運転できるけど北部はちょっと遠いので参加したのですが後悔なしです。通常価格だと高いかなー。他のツアーに比べて。¥7000〜8000ならまた参加しようかなと思います。

This was my second visit to Jomon Sugi, and I was excited after a long time. I had imagined it would be similar to my last visit, which had only two participants, but this time there were five. I was a bit worried since I'm not great with large groups, but I can say that those concerns were completely unnecessary; I had an amazing and satisfying experience. The guide was very knowledgeable, and their consideration and warmth made the experience pleasant. Everyone I was with was also very nice, which made the time enjoyable. I had never been north of Nago in Okinawa Main Island, and since the tour included attractions I had wanted to visit, such as Cape Hedo and the Oishi Forest, I signed up for it. The lunch was also luxurious and very delicious. I was able to experience feeding Kuu-chan, the Okinawa rail, and the content of the tour exceeded my expectations. I even received four types of small gifts as a little present. The guide was kind, making it the best day ever. Plus, it was part of the Go To program, so it was very affordable.
沖縄本島は名護より北には行った事が無く以前から行きたかった辺戸岬や大石林山等々の観光が含まれていたのでツアーに申し込みました。
昼食も豪華でとっても美味しかった。
ヤンバルクイナのくーちゃんの餌やりタイムにも遭遇出来思った以上にツアーの内容が良く、ちょっぴりプレゼントとしても4種類も頂きました。ガイドさんも親切な人で最高の1日でした。そしてGo To対象だったので凄く割安でした。

This tour covers several places that are difficult to visit alone, with a reasonable amount of time spent at each location. The meals were quite delicious, making for a highly satisfying experience.
The stunning views at the Great Stone Forest (it might be tough for very small children as it can be a bit steep), and the mangroves that you can walk through are definitely worth it. You can generally see what you expect. If you're lucky, you might even spot some wildlife, though I found it a bit scary (laughs).
*Make sure to wear comfortable clothing for walking. While you won't be walking for long periods, there are some quite rugged areas.*
一人では行きにくい場所をいくつも網羅してくれているツアーで各ツアーでの滞在時間もほどよく、食事もかなり美味しく相当満足感の高いツアーでした。
かなり絶景の大石林山(ちょっと険しいので小さすぎる子供は大変かも？)、歩いて見ることが出来るマングローブ、そう言うニーズあるんじゃないでしょうか、概ね想像通りのものが見れますよー。
野生動物も運が良ければ善きに悪きに目撃できます、私は少し怖かったけど(笑)

I had always wanted to visit Jomon Sugi. It was my first time trekking, but I was taught how to walk with minimal strain, and along the way, I was guided through various plants, which made it very enjoyable. One guide led a group of seven of us. Since it’s early in the morning and dark, a flashlight is essential.
一度は行きたいと思っていた縄文杉。
トレッキングは初めてだったのですが、負担の少ない歩き方から教えていただいたり、道中はいろいろな植物をガイドしていただいたので、とても楽しかったです。

However, the rental of climbing gear included in this activity diminished that experience significantly.
The night before the trekking, the climbing gear was delivered to the hotel.
Since this is an activity eligible for the Go To Travel program, I thought they were taking proper COVID-19 precautions, but when I tried to pack my belongings into the backpack, I found a wrapper from shrimp crackers and used tissue paper in the side pocket.
It was hard to believe they had sanitized anything before lending it out, and it was quite unsettling.
I really can't believe they are taking COVID-19 precautions.
It's strange that this is eligible for the Go To Travel program.
I thought I would have to sanitize everything myself to be able to use it, and when I took out the rainwear to sanitize it, I found that the middle of the backside was torn, and there was a hole in the calf area that had been taped shut.
So this is what "rental included" means.

何の除菌もせず貸し出したとしか思えず、ゾッとしました。
とてもコロナ対策をしているとは思えません。
go to トラベル適用なのが不思議です。
これは自分でしっかり除菌をしないととても使えないと思い、レインウェアも取り出して除菌すると、お尻の真ん中は破れていて、脹ら脛にも穴があってセロテープて閉じられていました。
レンタル込みとはこういうことだったのですね。

First of all, I was prepared for the rain, but I was fortunate with the weather. I thought it would be dull to walk alone in a solo trip, so I signed up for a local tour to hear various stories from the area. To my surprise, I had a great guide (a resident from Tochigi) which made the round trip of 10 hours enjoyable (though a bit tough), and I was able to fully appreciate the deep nature leading to Jomon Sugi.

I thought 10 hours would be long, but it went by in a flash. In the morning, I walked quietly in the dark and didn't know where I was going, but on the way back, I got to see some wonderful scenery. I was overwhelmed by the Great Cedar and Jomon Cedar, and it was very healing!

We were blessed with great weather and enjoyed the stunning view from Taiko Rock. When we arrived at Jomon Sugi, it was almost like we had the place to ourselves, and we could take as many photos as we wanted! We were able to take our time and really appreciate its beauty. Our guide, Kodama, was perfect from course selection to guidance along the way and pacing! We took many wonderful photos, making it a memorable day. Now, regarding the tour itself, it was great that we were able to visit various places, but the tour guide was a foreigner. While they could speak Japanese, it was very difficult to understand them. Towards the end, their voice became so quiet that I couldn't hear the explanations. When they said, "Please ask if you have any questions," it was hard to do so under those circumstances.
We started from in front of the prefectural office, but there were many buses lined up, making it hard to find the right one. Other tour guides were calling out loudly, while ours just stood outside holding a customer list. That made it really confusing. Since I’m not very experienced with tours and this was only my second time, I didn’t know what to do. This was evident as other customers, who were also there more than 10 minutes early, ended up arriving at the bus just in time and expressed their confusion.
Additionally, I went with my junior this time, and while I understand the need for social distancing due to COVID, everyone could have easily maintained distance by sitting by the windows. However, we were made to sit together as a couple, and when I asked if we could move to the window seats, I was told to wait. Ultimately, we were able to sit by the window only in the afternoon. If they were going to allow it, they could have done so in the morning as well. Moreover, there was someone sitting alone who wanted to see the scenery and preferred to sit by the window, which was prioritized instead. Doesn’t that seem strange?
Please ensure proper training for the tour guides. If it had been a Japanese guide, I think we could have enjoyed it a bit more.

出発の場所は県庁前からだったのですが、何台も並んでいたのでわかりにくかったです。他のツアーの添乗員さんは大きな声で呼んでいるのに、今回の添乗員は外に出て、顧客リストを持っているだけ。これではわかりませんよね。旅行慣れしていなく今回が2回目だったので、わかりませんでした。それを物語るのが、他のお客さんも、10分以上前に県庁前にいたのにギリギリにバスに着いてわからなかったって言ってバスに乗ってました。
あと、今回後輩と乗ったのですが、コロナで席を空けてるのはわかるのですが、全員窓際に座っても十分距離は保てるのに、私たちとカップルだけ2人で座らされ、窓際に移っていいですか？って聞いたら待ってください。って言われて結局窓際に座れたのが昼過ぎ。結局オッケーするなら午前中でも、よかったのではないでしょうか？それも、1人で座ってる人が景色ぐ見たいから逆に座りたいって言って、そっちを優先。おかしくないでしょうか？
添乗員教育ちゃんとしてください。日本人の添乗員だったらもう少し楽しめたかな。

To get to the northern Yanbaru area, it's difficult without a rental car, so I signed up for the only bus tour that goes to Daishirinzan. The bus had proper infection control measures in place, including seat arrangements.
Unfortunately, it rained on the day of the tour. I was looking forward to the views from the observation decks at Cape Hedo and Daishirinzan, but sadly, I could barely see anything. The weather forecast predicted clear skies for the afternoon, so I wished we could have reversed the order of the tour to visit the Churaumi Aquarium later. (Since it's a group tour, I understand that the schedule for each location is fixed and changes are probably not possible.)
We had 80 minutes at Daishirinzan. I wanted to see the "Observation Deck" and "Gajumaru," so I walked the shortcut course "Kigan & Churaumi" plus the "Yanbaru Forest Course." I just barely made it back in time within the 80 minutes. I wished I had a bit more time.
At the Churaumi Aquarium, we had 180 minutes. Perhaps because it was the second day of a three-day weekend in September when people started to move around (they were allowing entry with restrictions for infection control), there was a huge line, and it took 20 minutes to get in after we started waiting. The tour guide mentioned that it was the longest line they had ever seen. However, even with the 20-minute wait, we had plenty of time with the 180-minute stay. I skipped the really crowded tanks, looked at the beach and sea turtles, and then returned to the aquarium to explore.
It seems that the tour content has changed now. It looks like it offers a better experience to fully enjoy Yanbaru.
北部やんばるエリアに行くにはレンタカー以外では難しくて、この大石林山に行くことができる唯一のバスツアーに申し込みました。

当日はあいにくの雨。「辺戸岬」と「大石林山」の展望台からの景色を楽しみにしていたのですが残念ながらほぼ何も見えませんでした。午後からの天気予報は晴れだったので午後からの「美ら海水族館」と回る順番を逆にすることができたら良かったのになあって思いました。（ツアー団体だから各場所に行く予定時間は決まっていて変更は無理なんだろうとは思います）
「大石林山」の滞在時間は80分。「展望台」と「ガジュマル」は見たかったので「奇岩・美ら海」のショートカットコース+「やんばる森林コース」を歩きました。なんとかギリギリ80分でもどれました。もう少し時間が欲しかった。
「美ら海水族館」は滞在180分。人が動き出した9月の3連休の二日目のためか（感染対策のために入場制限をしながら入場させていた）入場はすごい列ができていて、並んでから入るまで20分かかりました。添乗員さんはこんなに行列ができているのは初めてだと言われていました。ただ20分並んでも180分滞在時間があったので時間は十分でした。すごく混んでいる水槽は飛ばし、ビーチやウミガメを見てからまた水族館にもどり入って見ました。
今はツアー内容が変更になっているようですね。やんばるをより満喫できる内容のようなので良さそうですね。

In the mangrove forest, we had an explanation from the guide and were able to explore while looking for creatures like coconut crabs. For lunch, we had sashimi with three pieces of white fish fry, which was very filling and delicious. Cape Hedo had an impressive deep blue color; although the wind was strong, the view was wonderful. At Daishi Forest, I was able to walk more easily than I expected and fully enjoy nature. I also thought that infection control measures were well implemented, such as hand sanitizer when getting on and off the bus and seating arrangements that maintained social distance. I'm glad I went.

We were blessed with good weather and enjoyed a meaningful trekking experience, even while causing some trouble for our guide, who was determined not to let anyone fall behind. The long trolley path on the way down was tough, but we managed to return before sunset, and I am satisfied with the experience. Thank you very much.

The Jomon Sugi was amazing. While I haven't climbed any of the hundred famous mountains, I've hiked a decent number of mountains, and at 68 years old, it was quite hard.
In the early morning, in the dark, we started walking at a pretty fast pace under our headlamps, and it felt quite intense. Our group consisted of five young men and women in their twenties and us, a couple over 65, making a total of seven people. As we sweated and walked to keep up with the younger ones, we finally reached Jomon Sugi.
On the way back, there were many stairs that put a strain on my knees, but despite that, we managed to reach the finish line. On the way there, our guide took us on a nature observation route that was different from the usual path, allowing us to see a different form of Yakusugi than what is shown in guidebooks, which was fantastic.
The coffee after lunch was a delightful cup for our chilled bodies. I am very grateful to our guide, Mr. Mitsuhashi. I have used VELTRA several times for overseas travel, and once again, it was the right choice.
Next time, I plan to challenge climbing Mount Miyanoura and attempt Jomon Sugi again. When that time comes, I intend to use VELTRA again.
縄文杉、最高でした。百名山までいかないが、そこそこの山を登っているが、68歳にとっては結構ハード。
早朝、暗い中、ヘッドライトのもと、かなりのハイピッチで歩きだし、これは何だとの感じ。グループ構成は20代の男女5人と我々65歳以上の夫婦の計7人。若い者に負けないよう汗をかきかき歩いているうちに縄文杉に到着。帰りは、階段が多く膝に負担がかかるが、ハイピッチにもめげず、どうにかゴールイン。
行きは、ガイドさんが通常ルートとは別の自然観察路コースを歩いてくれたので、ガイドブックとは別の屋久杉の形態を見ることが出来て最高。昼食後のコーヒも寒くなった体には嬉しい一杯でした。ガイド（三橋さん）の方に感謝、感謝。これまで、海外旅行で何回かVELTRAを利用してきましたが、今回もやはり正解でした。
次回は、宮之浦岳への登山挑戦と縄文杉の再挑戦を計画。その時には
、また、VELTRAを利用しようと思っています。

I usually don't go mountain climbing, so I joined a tour. I was blessed with a great guide, wonderful tour members, and good weather, making it an enjoyable experience.
We started climbing at 6:20 and finished at 15:40. We took the bus back at 16:00.
There were some people who couldn't reach Jomon Sugi. Preparation is important. I'm really glad I did some climbing before the trip.
普段は山登りしないので、ツアーで行きました。ガイド、ツアーのメンバー、天気、すべてに恵まれ、楽しいツアーとなりました。
6:20登山開始、15:40終了。16:00のバスで帰りました。
縄文杉までたどり着けていない人もいました。事前準備は大事です。旅行前に何度か登山しておいて、本当によかったです。

The Jomon Sugi course is a round trip of 22 km, with an elevation gain of 700 m, and the walking time is approximately 10 hours. Many beginners also join this hike, but it is advisable to build up your basic fitness before participating, as it will allow you to walk more comfortably.

返信遅くなり申し訳ありませんが、縄文杉ツアーにご参加頂き、誠にありがとうございました。
縄文杉コースは往復22kim、高低差700m、歩行時間は約10時間かかります。
登山初心者の参加も多いですが、参加される前に基礎体力をつける方が、余裕をもって歩けます。
今回をきっかけに、他の山にもチャレンジして下さいね。
